Hoffmanns Holsteinisches Haus in Friedrichstadt

It was our first time there and we received a very friendly welcome. The food was very good and plentiful – we had Labskaus and Sauerfleisch, both of which were truly delicious! Unfortunately, the chairs weren't very comfortable and wobbly. We'd love to come back to try more dishes.

Beautiful location. Half board was included in our room rate. Dinner was delicious...fried fish with homemade potato salad. The breakfast buffet was very extensive and delicious. There was something for everyone. The staff was friendly and efficient. But where there's light, there's also shade. I had room 105. And really, dear people in charge...you should take a look! I found this room to be beyond worn, and clean is anything but. Look at the skirting boards, look behind the TV cabinet, and examine the wicker chairs...there's plenty of room for improvement! However, I would book it again if available, but in a different room.

I don't know who eats there; we don't anymore. That day, there were three dishes to choose from: fried fish, schnitzel with vegetables and mushroom sauce, and tagliatelle with tomato sauce. We chose fried fish and schnitzel. The fried fish was quite okay, the schnitzel, okay, the vegetables were cooked in a water bath and had no seasoning at all, and the mushroom sauce was from a packet. When you only have three dishes on the menu, you'd expect them to be tasty. Unfortunately, WR wasn't.

Room not particularly clean on the walls and ceiling wet spots well but bed was comfortable 😁

Beautiful hotel right on a canal. We had half board and enjoyed a very good breakfast and a three-course dinner. You choose your main course from the menu. Very delicious German cuisine. The vegan in our group was also taken into consideration.

June 14, 2025, Saturday at 6 p.m. We visited Friedrichstadt and then looked for a restaurant for dinner in the early evening. The reviews are mixed, but the food is supposed to be good, according to the reviewers. Well, the restaurant scores points for its location. The poorly furnished furniture, especially in the so-called lounge area on the terrace, isn't. Not a single flower on the table. The service was friendly and attentive. The remoulade sauce and mushroom sauce were simply forgotten when served, but were brought back upon request. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Yes, and the menu. Instead of choosing something nice, nothing. It was a tough choice to make between two dishes. Schnitzel (as thick as a sheet of paper) with mixed vegetables (from a can?), potatoes, and mushroom sauce (my homemade definitely tastes better). Fried fish with potato salad and remoulade sauce (too thin and so-so). Hmm, I don't know. The meal, with two drinks, was unfortunately not worth €50. What a shame.

The hotel is very old and could use a renovation. Located right on a major thoroughfare. The bathroom is very poorly finished, with paint smeared everywhere. Cables are coming through large holes in the ceiling! There's a mirror in the hallway that probably hasn't been cleaned in weeks! Very helpful and friendly staff.

Old building, but clean. Extremely friendly staff; I arrived early and was able to check into my room before 2:00 PM. Good location, beautiful view of the canal. Good breakfast for just under €10.

Delicious food, a few friendly remarks, and a relaxed atmosphere. You'll definitely want to come back.

The hotel is ideally located. Parking is easy, the boat dock for trips through the canals is only 1 minute away and the walk to the city center is very short. The staff, both morning and evening in the attached restaurant, were super nice and friendly. Only the noise from the street, we had a room facing the main street, was very unpleasant. But we are otherwise extremely spoiled when it comes to street noise at home.

Yes, the rooms are simple but clean, the staff who also work in the bar restaurant area are very nice and very helpful. The hotel is getting old and it would be nice if the house was brought back into shape because it is a very nice house

Super good and for almost no money

We were on the terrace this evening waiting for someone to come to take the order. Unfortunately no one came. One of us then went in and asked and was told we would be there soon. We then continued to wait, someone came onto the terrace three times and we were completely ignored three times. People understand a lot these days, especially in the catering industry, but not even saying hello or at least handing out a card is very sad, that's not possible. We then went somewhere else. Too bad

We visited the restaurant on a Monday evening. It was well attended, the actual dining room was completely full, which is why we were seated in the hotel's breakfast room. We generally thought that was okay as it was pleasantly quiet there. Unfortunately, it was also very cold in this room, which made the stay much less comfortable. That evening there was only a reduced Monday menu with three dishes. This is understandable in itself – less choice at the start of the week can make sense. However, it was not possible to vary anything within the dishes. For example, for the schnitzel we wanted fried potatoes instead of boiled potatoes - according to the waiter, that wasn't possible. It was later explained to us that in principle it would have been possible, but only with a high surcharge - which the waitress couldn't quite understand and therefore didn't even offer. Overall, we found the prices fair and reasonable. There were mixed impressions when it came to service: one service was very friendly, the other, unfortunately, was much less so. Both seemed under a lot of pressure that evening, which was noticeable. Our conclusion: It was okay, but not convincing. Next time we will probably try a different restaurant.

We were with a tour group for a buffet meal. There was: matjes, sauerbraten, pear and beans etc. Bacon, flour buns and various other things. Everything delicious! The waiter was also quick and his colleague distributed the drinks quickly. Many thanks to the staff.

I was just here to eat. The building doesn't look very inviting from the outside, and it's right on a busy street. However, it was quiet in the restaurant, on the other side you have a direct view of the river. The waitress was very friendly and drinks came quickly. Since there was nothing going on in the restaurant, we had to wait a relatively long time for our food. The plaice was good, as was the fried fish. Unfortunately, the potato salad wasn't homemade, tasted okay, but not special. The same applies to the very liquid tartar sauce. All in all, the food was okay, but not great.

A wonderful and lovingly furnished hotel. 5 minutes walk from the train station. The rooms are clean, the staff is attentive and friendly. In the morning there is a rich breakfast buffet. Price-performance ratio is simply great! Short distances to the city. Almost in front of the door there is a pier where you can take a canal cruise. I was particularly impressed by the lovely furnishings of the hotel. In the breakfast room we almost had the impression that we were sitting in someone's living room. Thank you for the lovely time with you.

Booked 2 rooms for one night through Booking. Unfortunately, the double room we booked with soundproofing and wine and garden views turned out to be a single room (it felt like a storage room) under the roof. We were then given a room on the ground floor with a view of the street. We also looked for wine there in vain. We then agreed on another bottle of water since we don't drink alcohol. The bathroom had a 60's flair. Unfortunately there wasn't much to be seen in terms of cleanliness. The rusted sink drain and the missing plug prevented us from cleaning contact lenses. The second double room had many defects despite renovation. Of course, this also had no garden view/wine or even soundproofing. But we would still like to emphasize that the dinner was very tasty. The breakfast buffet was delicious and plentiful. We were able to properly store our bikes in a shed provided for this purpose. So if you book via Booking, you should be careful.

A quiet hotel with friendly staff.

We were only in the restaurant and not in the hotel. We came to dinner with a larger group and should communicate our meal wishes in advance. Various dishes were described as “vegan”, e.g. E.g. soups, tagliatelle or salad. On site, the salad was served with sheep's cheese and the tagliatelle with Parmesan, so in the end none of it was vegan. A new dish was brought to us, but either the entire first portion or just the cheese was thrown away, which could certainly have been avoided. The whole thing is always accompanied by doubts as to whether the other dishes, such as the soup, were vegan, because the addition of milk, for example, is not obvious at first glance. Unfortunately, the tagliatelle with “summer” (a simple tomato sauce) was completely soft and hardly edible. Unfortunately, a lot of it remains. The price-performance ratio is also not particularly good for a small portion of tagliatelle with a simple tomato sauce (+ 5-6 leaves of arugula). At least some crunchy, fresh vegetables would have been good for the dish for almost 15 euros. The spritzers were all expired but still edible. We drank them anyway so as not to waste any more food. At least the price was politely reduced by €4, which justifies an additional star for the service. Overall, the restaurant doesn't leave a good impression and I wouldn't eat here again.

Super nice service. Dogs are no problem, unfortunately there are many no dog signs in Friedrichstadt.

Good morning We were only at the hotel to eat. After we were warmly welcomed by the service staff, we went to order without any problems. The drinks were quickly at the table and the food we ordered came to the table in abundance, tasty and beautifully presented. We would come again 😜😇

I can't give any stars to the rooms and location because we only went to the restaurant to eat. After the friendly welcome from the young waitress, we were served nicely and professionally and the food was plentiful, solid, tasty and attractively prepared. If we are in Friedrichstadt again, this restaurant will be our first choice.

The hotel is in a great location, everything is within easy walking distance. At first the package we booked didn't quite work out. The hotel with restaurant is conveniently located near the train station in the canal town of Friedrichstadt in North Frisia. Since I was only a guest here for a few hours, I can't comment on the rooms. I liked everything else (food and ambience).

I had work with my colleague in Husum and it was very easy to reach Hoffmanns Holsteinisches Haus! We really liked everything and at a fair price with a real holiday atmosphere! The hostess was very friendly and flexible, which led us to clearly recommend it!

Very good service, staff super nice and very attentive. Food and drinks very good, also served quickly. Cozy, almost family atmosphere. Absolutely recommended, we will be back.

We had dinner there today on Christmas Day in the restaurant. So we can only rate the restaurant and not the hotel. We had a great evening. The service was great, we received great service and the young woman even sang in a good mood when the house was full. 5 stars for that. The food came quickly and was just great. I had a really tender schnitzel and my wife's veal cheeks could be mashed with a fork and were also beautifully prepared. We had a great evening and can only recommend the restaurant. Thank you!

There were six of us in the restaurant and sat comfortably at the round table. The service was very friendly, the food was very tasty. Unfortunately we had to wait 45 minutes for the food, which is a bit too long. Nevertheless, we had a nice evening and felt comfortable there. What is very positive is that there are two attractive vegan dishes on the menu, as one in ten eats vegan these days.

Die Herrentoilette war verschmutzt. Papiertücher gab es nicht nur ein dreckiges Handtuch auf dem Fußboden. Das Bedienungspersonal war mehr mit sich beschäftigt, als sich um die Gäste zu kümmern. Als ich die sehnige und durchwachsene Lammhaxe beanstandete, wurde nur geantwortet, dass man das Tier nicht selbst gezüchtet hat. Keine Entschuldigung oder dergleichen.

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, ich fange erst einmal mit dem positiven an: Das Lokal wurde umgebaut, modernisiert und endlich ist der alte Stil von früher etwas raus. War vorher schon in die Jahre gekommen. Deshalb gibt es wenigstens zwei Sterne! Ich denke auch zum Biertrinken auf der Terrasse kann man dort auch gut hingehen, wenn man "Jever" mag. Aber das ist ja Geschmackssache. Service: Wir haben Nachmittags gegessen und wir waren die einzigen Gäste. Eine Bedienung war aufmerksam, aber sich vor Gästen mit Kollegen zu streiten, geht überhaupt nicht. Sorry! Ebenso wurde Sie sauer, als eine Kollegin sagte, es würden gerne neue Hotelgäste ein Zimmer buchen. "Ich kann mich ja nicht teilen!" Ich denke da hat Sie recht, aber was man hätte machen können , die Gäste begrüßen und Sie zu bitten ein wenig auf schmecktSie zu warten, da Sie gerade in Arbeit ist. Ich denke da hat jeder Verständnis. Hätte auch nur 30 Sek. gedauert. Essen: 1. Roulade mit Rotkohl und Kartoffeln: Roulade selbst gemacht, aber Geschmacksneutral mit ungeschälten Kartoffeln und Rotkohl der wirklich nicht schmeckt. Wenn man Tage zuvor im Hotel zur Treene war, dann weiß man wie Rotkohl geht. 2. Scholle mit Bratkartoffeln: Scholle in Ordnung, nur noch trieffend vor fett. 3. Rinderfilet mit Bratkartoffeln: Filet soll gut gewesen sein nur der Garpunkt stimmte nicht. 4. Rip Eye mit Bratkartoffeln: Es war leider kein Rip Eye sondern Rumsteak. Wurde wieder von der Rechnung genommen! (Fair) Neu bestellen macht kein Sinn, da man dann alleine isst. 5. Kalbsschnitzel mit Bratkartoffeln: Leider war das Schnitzel richtig schlimm. Das Schnitzel muss in 2-3 Tage altem Fett gelegen haben und die Panade machte das Schnitzel dadurch nicht genießbar. Mehr kann ich dazu nicht sagen, ausser das wir das letzte mal dort waren. Tut mir Leid! Aber so können wir nicht wieder kommen

Das Aussenrestaurant war überwiegend durch Hotelgäste mit Halbpension besetzt. Neuankömmlinge bekamen einen Tisch zugewiesen, doch dann dauerte es sehr lange, bis es die Karte gab (erst auf Nachfrage) Es schien, als ob nur eine Bedienung den Überblick hatte, was sich in der Wartezeit auch wiederspiegelte. Das Essen war gut.

Wir waren keine Hotelgäste. Das Essen (Kalbsschnitzel) war ausgezeichnet. Die Bedienung etwas unaufmerksam. Es hätte uns aber gefallen, wenn wir nicht „zwangsbeschallt“ worden wären. Die Musik war laut und ließ sich nach Personalangaben nicht ändern. Die Anlage stände im Büro und dürfe nur von der Chefin bedient werden. Weitergegebene Beschwerden von Kunden wurden laut Personal immer ignoriert. Na gut. Wenn es um die Befindlichkeiten der Geschäftsleitung und nicht um die der Kunden geht.... Wir werden das Lokal nicht noch einmal aufsuchen!

Reichhaltiges Speisenangebot bei dem jeder etwas finden sollte. 5 Minuten vom Marktplatz gelegen. Direkt an einer Gracht. Terrasse vorhanden. Sehr nettes, unaufdringliches Personal.

Vi var på et 3 dages ophold på Holsteinisches Haus og stedet lever bestemt op til, hvad hjemmesiden lover. Nyrenoverede og rummelige værelser, righoldigt morgenbord, opmærksomt serveringspersonale, aftensmaden svarer til almindelig hverdagsmad og der er rigelige portioner. Vi var meget tilfredse og vender gerne tilbage en anden gang.

Et hotel af ældre dato. Indrettet forholdsvis sparsomt. Men alt fungerer. Værelserne er af samme standard, som resten af hotellet - alt er rent og OK. Det må desuden siges, at sengene er gode og badeværelserne er OK. Maden er forventelig prisen taget i betragtning - jævn tysk husmandskost. Betjeningen er venlig og hjælpsom. Ingen grund til at være negativ, da prisen er yderst rimelig. Hvis man har brug for et sted at overnatte og tage et bad i Friedrichstadt - og man ikke stiller store krav til maden og/eller luksus generelt, så er dette stedet. Ingen kan påstå, at prisen er for høj i forhold til det man får.

God morgenmad som tyskerne kan lave den. Aftensmad under middel. Grønsager fra frost, supper fra dåse. Der er forskel på om man bor der eller kommer ind fra gaden.

Halvfabrikat som var uppvärmt och inte nylagat. Smakade absolut ingenting. Servicen var urusel. Kan absolut inte rekommenderas.

Maden var meget god og rigelig, betjeningen sød og venlig, værelset rent pænt og varme i gulvet, kan ikke være bedre til prisen.

Lækker jaegerschnitzel med bratenkartofler. Det var den eneste kødret på menuen udover karrypølse, hvis man kan kalde det kød, men for en enkelt aften var det velsmagende, men man kommer der jo ikke to aftener i træk.

Vi var lidt trætte oven på dagen. Menukortet var på en side med 6 - 7 retter, resten var drikkevarer ( 6-7sider)... Vi fik schnitzel med champignonsovs og pommes, fin schnitzel, salt sovs og meget salte pommes. Sovsen blev tilberedt uden mælk, da jeg ikke tåler dette, tak for denne service. De 2 steder vi spiste dagen før, var bedre.

Vi måtte gå igen da der kun var små tallerkenretter på menuen, søndag aften, de sagde de var alene og derfor ikke kunne servere andet, der var mere end 3/4 fuldt i resturanen, af spisende gæster :-(, dårlig modtagelse da man kom ind, nogle danskere ved nabobordne anbefalede resturanen ved siden af rådhuset, den var perfekt.
