Great atmosphere, besides all the smoking, most employees are not friendly. Was scolded when I returned my beer mug. Will not return.

Ate my best Kaiserschmarn in all of Bavaria here in the cellar. Prices expensive, but comparatively normal. Service quick and friendly.

The day before yesterday I had sauerbraten (really top! Good acidity, meat really tender), liver dumpling soup that couldn't be better from Bavaria and apple strudel. Plus two super good, dark ones 🍺.

The Hofbräukeller, which overlooks the picturesque Wienerplatz, is one of the historic breweries of the Bavarian capital. At the time it was located "outside the walls", in the factory that produced the drink. On 16.X.1919 a peevish fellow with a mustache gave his first public speech there. The production complex was moved to the suburbs in 1988, but the taproom remained. Its premises are vast and variously decorated in typical Bavarian style. It also houses a children's corner, much appreciated by parents with young children. In the summer months the garden, dominated by enormous horse chestnut trees, attracts crowds of customers. It is mainly the inhabitants of the beautiful Haidhausen neighborhood who frequent this place of beer culture. There is therefore no mass of "caciarous", intrusive and inebriated tourists that poisons the most famous pubs in the historic center. I frequented it assiduously between 2013-2018 when I lived nearby, almost always drawing pleasant memories both for the excellent quality of the beer and for the gastronomic offer (the efficiency of the kitchen and the waiters was impressive), and, finally, for the "Gemütlichkeit" (welcoming and relaxing environment). I returned in early August 2024 and, with great pleasure, I noticed that everything remained in order and "gemütlich". Enrico Alfonso Ricciardi Montagano CB Italy

The staff was an absolute disgrace. There were 20 of us and we had to pay together. We were also treated cheekily several times and the prices were outrageously high. I will never enter this store again.

The beer garden must be wonderful in summer. Now in the fall it's better to stay indoors. Great ambience, nice service.. I love HB beer!!!

Today at lunchtime (12 guests dining in the restaurant) we ordered a young pork roast and a Viennese schnitzel. The roast young pig would certainly have tasted even better if it had been warm. The operator did not respond to this notice. At the same time, the Weiner Schnitzel was only brought out 10 minutes after I briefly asked the waitress “whether it is customary for two dishes not to be served together?” At the neighboring table, the coleslaw for the roast young pig was only brought to us after we asked. Don't want to know what it's like when there are more people there.

Half farm duck, super crispy and candied Kaiserschmarrn for dessert! You can hardly eat something better like this anywhere else! Highly recommended Bavarian cuisine!

Overall decent food and great beer, but far from flawless. The spaetzle were completely flavourless, even with the sauce (not of my liking, but that’s on me). Leads me to believe that sides may not be completely fresh. On the other hand, the main was great. What bothered me the most was the service. Arrogant and annoying. They are always in a hurry, yet forget being asked if you want anything else. You almost have to tackle them to capture their attention. Moreover, they force you to pay with cash, hoping for a tip. Like hell I’m going to tip you with that service! Eventually, if you tell them enough times that you intend to pay by card, they surrender. And make you wait 15 minutes to bring you the card receiver (pos). Honestly, there are far better places in Munich.

Nice beer garden in summer. Guest rooms inside are also very comfortable. Food is also very good. Guests can park at a discount in our own underground car park. The Hofbräukellrr is easily accessible by subway (Max-Weber-Platz). For larger groups, a deposit must unfortunately be paid when booking to show up.

The classic Bavarian, modern and traditional inn with the most beautiful beer garden.

We ordered all of this. I actually don’t know the names because I went with a german friend who recommended and ordered. Everything was wonderful. The pretzel and the sweet potato fries were my favorite. The place is giant! I think it’s a very known restaurant in München (for the locals). Prices were good given the deli food.

Food was tasty, unfortunately a manageable portion. The food was served very quickly. Service was nice and quite quick.

Food was oke, but nothing special with regard to the prices. Service was average at best, chewing bubblegum and semi unfriendly, took so many efforts to get someones attention to order or pay that it was redicioulous. Got as a reply "if you want service you should go to mc donalds.."

We stopped in here on the recommendation of a local for a mid-afternoon break amidst our trip, and we were so happy we listened to their advice. The building is incredibly beautiful and the atmosphere was cozy. We only ordered beers and a pretzel since we were between meals, but they were all incredibly tasty. Our server even brought additional mustards for our pretzel telling us, this is what we locals eat with it. She was so kind and knew the right level of attentiveness for us given we were just taking some time to rest our feet and escape the rain. I wish we could have made it back to try some of their other food (what went by our table smelled incredible) and to experience their beer garden. Hopefully someday we make it back!

The place is nice and authentic, the food is good, the beer is great, but the old male waiter looking at us is both indifferent and reprimanding, and also asks for a tip for the service we did not receive. I hope you won't have as much luck with waiters as we did when you come to this beautiful place.

Today we went to the Hofbräukeller with 9 people. As always, the food was very tasty, the Kaiserschmarrn is the best in all of Munich. Even though it was busy, the waiters were super friendly and patient. 5 people from our group were there for the first time and were completely thrilled. We'll be back, hopefully when the weather is nice so we can use the beer garden

I've been to the biergarten here a few times, and it's one of my favourites in München. Mostly locals, however the beers are rather expensive. Yesterday I sat inside because it was raining. They have a wide selection of HB beers, including their Oktoberfest beer. The service was fast and friendly and a Maß cost 11€.

We were in the inn once and in the beer garden the other day. Service in the inn was very attentive. The food was good. The trout looked fantastic, the knuckles were a bit plain...served with just a dumpling. No herb or anything. The beer sauce was excellent! The beer garden is well organized. A service area and a large self-service area. Watch out! From 4 p.m. beer is only available in moderation! 🍺🍺

the best summer beer-garden in Munich, we went 2 times. Locals' hangout, almost entirely touristic, small compared to other beer bars... Great beer, cheaper than other beer bars, plus here we found pancakes, fries, grilled steak and chicken!

The food was delicious and fully what I expected in a proper Bavarian restaurant. Unfortunately this day the staff and kitchen seemed a bit overwhelmed and we waited for a long time for our food and to order dessert (over an hour to get food, about 30min to find the waiter to order dessert - at this point we weren't trying that hard anymore). Our waiter did eventually come by to apologize about the delay saying there was a large group that had booked a room. Seems like something that could be anticipated, but we appreciated his transparency. Would definitely go again, but hopefully with a bit less wait time.

Fantastic food and grubby atmosphere. There were five of us and everyone enjoyed their food very well. The Kaiserschmarrn afterwards was also delicious.

The Hofbräuhaus on Wiener Platz is outside of Munich city center, but also much more relaxed. Unfortunately, because it was raining, we couldn't use the beer garden. Inside it is also beautifully decorated. The service was very friendly and very quick. Food and beer great.

Apparently – I also see this in some other one-star reviews – complaints about “defamation” have caused Google to block negative reviews in recent weeks. That's why I want to briefly describe my story here. I posted a negative review about the Hofbräukeller in December 2022 because nothing worked when entertaining four people: food was bad and sometimes not served at all, service was incompetent, we had to send one meal back, no apology and almost an hour waiting for the replacement meal. On January 13, 2023, this review received a “response from the owner” in which he admitted the matter and apologized. That was actually the end of the matter for me. On September 4th, 2024, I received a message from removals@google.com that a complaint had been lodged against my review with the (blanket) justification “slander” (without specifying what was and was supposed to be defamatory about my statement of facts - and apparently also without any further examination on the part Google) was submitted, whereupon access to my review was blocked. The effect of such an approach is clear: If the negative reviews “disappear”, the overall rating of the Hofbräukeller on Google will be “improved”. However, the message from Google included a note that I can appeal Google's decision within six months and the decision to block the review will then be reviewed. That's exactly what I did, pointing out that I was only presenting facts, that I had an independent witness for my representation and that the owner himself admitted the facts on January 13, 2023. Google then unblocked my review within a day. In the interest of a meaningful overall Google rating, I can only recommend appealing against unauthorized bans on Google - and viewing the overall Google ratings with caution.

Food in the beer garden is mediocre and overpriced.

After my wife and I were turned away from two restaurants because we hadn't made a reservation, we ended up at the Hofbräukeller, which had more than enough seats. So there was no problem without a reservation. The service was relatively quick and the food tasted excellent. The portion sizes were also sufficient for us. The only thing that can be criticized is the volume, as it was difficult to have a conversation at a late hour. But this is due to the design of the building and is somehow part of such inns. Clear recommendation of this location.

EC payment was apparently not possible... The receipt was also not TSE compliant...

5.60 for half and at the self-service checkout you are also asked to give a tip using a card reader. You must be crazy!

I've been without a drink for an hour. Service unfriendly and stressed or overwhelmed. I can't say anything about the food, I was too stupid after the waiting time. Too bad!

I have visited this place several times with my family and used to bring people to visit. Although the waiters are always friendly, the waiters make no secret of the fact that they are having a bad day. Going so far as to scold clients if they do not order food and only drink and changing their seats for it. Stress at work is not visible to the public, or that's how I was taught back in the day.

The food was very cold and bad and you had to wait a long time despite there being few customers. I had the sirloin steak. The opinion does not change if the restaurant wants to remove bad reviews about a law firm in order to look better.

I always feel a bit conflicted with big beer gardens. The food in this one specifically is really good; the service, however, needs lots of improvement. Definitely make a reservation to ensure you get a table because it can get really crowded.

Rating: Disappointing experience regarding the quality of the food I recently asked about the quality of the liver at this restaurant because I have concerns about the health effects of conventionally produced liver, which is often contaminated with antibiotics and other contaminants. After consulting with the kitchen, the waitress assured me that it was organic liver, which was a decisive criterion for my choice. When I visited again, I found that not only were my concerns confirmed, but I was also treated in an unfriendly manner. When I asked another waiter and the assistant manager, Mr. Richter, about the origin of the liver, I was informed that it was not organic liver. However, Mr. Richter reacted extremely rudely and simply told me to leave the restaurant. I was shocked by this reaction and felt not only misunderstood but also disrespected. I expect not only high-quality food from a restaurant, but also respectful treatment of guests. It is unfortunate that I had such a negative experience here, which not only did not meet my expectations in terms of service, but also in terms of the transparency regarding the food on offer. I hope that management takes this feedback seriously and works to improve the quality of both the food and customer service.

So far it’s my favorite Biergarten in Munich! The food here is actually really good. The atmosphere is great! You feel like you’re tucked away in a small natural environment away from the city. The bees are a bit annoying though 😅 🐝

The Hofbräukeller on Wiener Platz has one of the most beautiful beer gardens in Munich! 🍺 Tasty Hofbräu beer and good food. Only the measure for €10.80 is in the upper league in terms of price 😏

For us personally, this was by far the best beer garden in Munich. The service was fantastic (once you understood that every waiter has "his" tables and is exclusively responsible for them), the food was excellent and there's nothing more to say about Munich beer... 😉 We were in Munich for a week and from day 2 we were here every evening because it was just great.

Personally, I didn't like the food and, in our opinion, it wasn't fresh.

Arrived 10pm Friday evening, seems could only drink in beer garden which only offers a 1 litre (mass) beer no smaller measures so we left disappointed.

Today I was in the Höfbräubiergarten again for a long time. Great ambience, top quality food, fair prices, everything perfectly organized and the entire staff was super friendly. I'd love to come back.

ATTENTION: Have a professional company delete bad reviews because of “defamation”. What no one understands is that if at the end everyone only has 5 stars, then no one has anything to do with the reviews because they have all been cleaned up. This now has a system, as it is used to clean up the bad reviews. It would always be more decent if the owners responded to the criticism and responded to it. That would be honest and visible to everyone and assessable for themselves. What the companies that offer the cleanup don't understand is that you can't keep people like me down. You can delete the review from back then and write a new one here. Believe me, I have more staying power than the company you pay dearly for. Before it was 2 stars, now just 1 star.

Rustic atmosphere, in warm weather you should make a reservation outside. Service could be better and it was also very busy. Food was good, what you expect in a brewery. The Kaiserschmarren is recommended!!

Very nice place! There are several long tables to be shared. So, if you are in a small group, you may share the table with other people. This is in the outdoor area in the corners of the restaurant. They also have an inside area and a few individual tables outside. The scheme is self service. You go to the place where the food is sold, order what you want: beer and drinks in general in one line, food in another. Then go to the cashier to pay.

A great place and everything very rich

A delightful beer hall serving Hoffbraus famous drinks and food. If you are visiting Munich and want to experience Hoffbrau, Hoffbraukeller is a much quieter and more accessible venue than the main building in the old town. This location is family friendly, and the surrounding neighbourhood has many bars, cafes, and restaurants.

The beer garden is very nice and offers enough seating. What we only found out later was that the set tables were the tables with service and the benches were only for self-service. So if you want to order something “more special”, such as the white sausage breakfast, you have to sit down at a set table and have the dish brought to you. Other dishes, however, can be picked up by self-service and paid for directly. The food was tasty, but at a fairly high price, especially at lunchtime. I think the price of €15.50 for two meatballs with potato salad is a bit too high. Unfortunately, we were disturbed by a lot of wasps while we were eating, which of course the restaurant can't do anything about, but it was still annoying. The glasses have a €2 deposit. The toilets were very clean and are decorated in a very nice wooden style. Card payment worked.

A beautiful and welcoming restaurant run by the HB brewery. You can either take a seat in the restaurant or in the rather large beer garden. Bavarian-bourgeois cuisine is offered at high prices, the quality is good and it tastes good too. The toilets are furnished in a rustic style and are very clean, the employees are friendly and service-oriented. Especially recommended in summer because of the beautiful beer garden :)

Unfortunately there was no beer garden weather today, so we tested it indoors! Huge shop with a nice atmosphere, classic, delicious food and great beer. Well packed with local people on a Monday, resulting in a pleasant cosiness. Service was always quick. Always my pleasure!

Die Begrüßung im Restaurant war herzlich und wir erhielten einen tollen Platz. Leider war der Service am Tisch eine Katastrophe, sowas habe ich noch nicht erlebt. Er war total unfreundlich, viel zu schnell und hektisch, nahm sich keine Zeit für unsere Bestellungen. Wir liefen ihm zweimal nach um Bestellungen aufzugeben. Das Essen hingegen war klasse und hat sowohl uns, als auch unseren amerikanischen Gästen sehr gut geschmeckt. Ein Highlight war der Nachtisch! Wir kommen wieder und hoffen, dass wir einen anderen Kellner erwischen.

The restaurant is quite large, with wood all over. The service is fast and efficient. The food is tasty. We had the summer salad, very fresh. A nice place to have dinner.

Nice cozy beer garden. There is both a self-service and a staffed area. Food and drinks are reasonably priced and the quality of the food is also perfectly fine. The ambience is really nice under the trees in the shade, and the Isar is not far either.
