100% recommendation. We spent Saturday morning in the beer garden in the best weather. The atmosphere, inside and outside, is great. The drinks and food were top. The service was also friendly and quick. We will definitely come back on our next trip to Munich.

We ate on the terrace in the service area. The table was very exposed to sunlight and we were able to change tables without any problems, despite having placed an order. Service very nice and quick. The food tasted good, but was lukewarm.

Real deal traditional beer and food experience. In warm weather, the best biergarten in Munich (as I was told by a long-time Munich resident). It is just the right size, about the size of a squared-off football pitch. It is shaded by many leafy chestnut trees and features a walk-up bar. Inside, bierkeller atmosphere with tradition but not kitsch. Service is optimal. I had a superb Kellerbier (I am a BJCP National beer judge) and Obatzda (spiced cheese blend) served with pickle, radish, brown bread and fresh lettuce. Really quite excellent all around.

Rustic atmosphere, nice service - unfortunately the food was below average and quite expensive: dumplings that are cold on the outside and hard on the inside, far too little, for €23.50 and veal meatballs (basically delicious, unfortunately the mashed potatoes with a very strange sour taste, the sauce too peppery and the vegetables completely unseasoned, but at least not overcooked - I didn't have any "truffles" in the entire dish tasted) for €19.50 were not worth the money. Too bad.

The food is very good for a beer garden.

We have been here several times because it is close by. But this time it was simply impossible. The waiter was extremely unfriendly from the start - no eye contact, stroppy answers, as if we were a burden. He then claimed that you could only pay in cash in the beer garden. Total nonsense - we've often paid with a card there, and the table next to us also paid with a card at exactly that moment. I went to the manager who apologized and told me to sit back down. Shortly afterwards the waiter came with the card reader and without a word threw it on the table. When I asked him about the lie, he literally said: "I don't care what the boss says. This is my table, I decide." I went to the manager again, paid and left. That doesn't work at all.

We really liked it. We were on the terrace with service, right next to it is the beer garden with an excess (small menu)... Had asparagus soup from the season menu and schnitzel (1x Viennese, 1x Viennese style). Everything was delicious. Service super attentive and friendly. Prices OK. The two of us paid just over 70EUR (3 drinks, 2x soup, 2x main course). We'd love to come back if the opportunity arises.

Ambience very nice, price-wise, especially in the served area of ​​the beer garden, very expensive even for Munich. Asparagus with veal schnitzel costs €45.8 (for one person). Beer at €5.6 directly from a brewery is also rather in the upper range. The taste of the food was okay - good midfield. It's best to sit in the beer garden and bring your own food, then you'll have the best experience.

We were here in the afternoon, during the week. So it was almost empty. Free choice of table - so far so good. The lady who served us tried to quickly offer us something to drink, which was difficult. She didn't speak German very well and didn't respond to English. (This is not the reason for the 1 star rating! The lady seemed really friendly and tried very hard despite the language barrier) The 1 star rating comes from the two gentlemen who were also serving as waiters. And the beer was slammed on the table so that it spilled over (we didn't want to wipe it away either, we did it ourselves) Same with food. The plates were almost 'thrown' onto the table. Result: sauce on your pants. If one could ignore that, the visit would of course still have been successful. The food was great. 10/10. However, the two of them prevented us from enjoying ourselves any further. There was loud conversation about a group of other guests sitting outside. - absolutely not positive and offensive. Doesn't have to be. Furthermore, the two of them probably planned the rest of the evening by telephone, of course on loudspeaker, and talked loudly with their friends. Everyone has their cell phone at work these days, no problem, I don't excuse myself from that. But standing next to the guests and insulting and making fun of my friends over the phone? I don't know... that's not worthy of this restaurant. Wouldn't like to come back because of these two.

We were there with over 50 people and it was a very successful evening. Service and food were top, one point deducted from the ambience because of the acoustics in the room. Overall, a clear 5 stars.

Bavarian tradition is richly respected, the restaurant offers all regional dishes, when I am nearby I really like to go there, I recommend it!

We were on the terrace on April 10th, 2025 and were actually looking forward to a nice evening. The food was really good – nothing to complain about. But unfortunately the service was an absolute disaster. We were asked the same things several times by two different service staff, which suggests a lack of coordination. The waitress's tone was particularly unpleasant - unfriendly, condescending and not very customer-oriented. When we wanted to order a non-alcoholic shandy in 0.5l (as it says on the menu), we were bluntly told that this was “not possible under any circumstances” and that only one measure was possible. Not a problem in itself - but the way it was communicated was simply disrespectful. But the absolute no-go came when the waitress asked us to pay about 50 minutes after our reservation because she “had a lot of reservations inside” and it would “get too cold for us anyway.” We felt completely thrown out and not welcome at all. It's a shame - the food deserved more. But service is a very important part of the experience, and unfortunately there was disappointment across the board.

High prices but in line with the München average which has these prices. One of the city's iconic breweries. I think I bought some sort of local "Scarp de tennis" from a bum who came into the restaurant, the paper is called "Biss", which I really appreciated having been a reader of Scarp de Tennis for several years.

I can especially recommend the Kaiserschmarrn here. It's only available in the restaurant, not in the beer garden, but it's very tasty and perfectly caramelized.

Price/performance Munich is correspondingly high, here the upper end. Unfortunately, the pretzels weren't oven-fresh as advertised, but overall it was okay. 2 pretzels, Obatzter and a drink. As a big plus, the parking garage next door is subsidized, only €1 instead of €4 per hour. Don't forget your parking ticket, it must be marked by the staff.

Had to give one star for rudeness of the staff. Moved tables and were shouted at and made to feel really uncomfortable. Food was great and lovely building and outdoor area. Would still go back but avoid the grumpy Herr Ober and manager.

I was sitting on the edge of the Almstube. It was such a great atmosphere. The food was served super quickly. The waiter, unfortunately I can't remember his name, always created a great atmosphere and was very polite and quick. I felt very comfortable and welcomed into the family. Gladly and again at any time.

We were at the Hofbräukeller as part of a crime thriller dinner. The event took place upstairs in the hall. It was very bare and uncomfortable there. A little more decoration, table decorations, tablecloths, etc. would have made the frame much nicer. The waitresses were quick and very friendly. The food was very tasty.

The fondue was, to be honest, a disgrace!! There were 8 of us, we paid almost 40 EUR each, = 320, -, but we each got a mini pot for meat fondue (3 small bowls of meat, pork, chicken ... beef (not fillet), plus ready-made sauces. As side dishes, a little bread, raw champions and broccoli! The cheese fondue was even worse, the cheese was lukewarm, and the middle was cold. Far too little for 4 people, plus cold pears, Ordering broccoli and Brussels sprouts costs 20 EUR and nothing is delivered! All in all, it's just a big rip off!!

Rindroulade is not authentic enough, Wienerschnitzel is not authentic enough but is delicious. To be honest, I can’t tell the difference between these old beer halls after they were moved here and there.

With some friends we wanted to eat the best Kaiserschmarren, but also Bavarian food in general, in Munich. We ended up in this restaurant based on a recommendation. I think the place is not for vegetarians, but the Kaiserschmarren was delicious.

The food is pretty standard German fare. Potatoes, cabbage and meat. The quality of the meats was a little poor. Sausages were very crumbly and dry, coarsely ground. The pork and duck were pretty bad, tough and chewy. The sourkraut was pretty good. The mashed potato was okay, the dumpling not so much. Reasonably priced for downtown Munich. The dining room was festive (just after Christmas). The beer, excellent.

However, the prices were in the upper segment. Charging 19.90 euros for a roast pork with bread dumplings and coleslaw, albeit a very good one, is very expensive and a wheat beer for 5.80 euros... well, it was still tasty 🤗.

I highly recommend the Hofbräukeller over the tourist trap Hofbräuhaus am Platzl. We were able to get a reservation but probably didn’t need to as there were plenty of open tables when we arrived. The food and beer were amazing, and our waiter was awesome! I can’t remember his name but he was from Italy and very friendly! We’ll definitely be back!
