Hofbräukeller in München

We were at the Hofbräukeller as part of a crime thriller dinner. The event took place upstairs in the hall. It was very bare and uncomfortable there. A little more decoration, table decorations, tablecloths, etc. would have made the frame much nicer. The waitresses were quick and very friendly. The food was very tasty.

Extremely friendly restaurant with Munich's most beautiful beer garden and, even by Munich's already positive standards, exceptionally friendly service. Sensational, especially when you know the high number of guests: here you will find the cleanest pub toilets in Germany!!!

The Hofbräukeller offers delicious food in a hearty atmosphere, but the prices are sometimes very high. Over 27 euros for a beef roulade is 3-4 euros too much. The fried chicken salad was optimal.

The fondue was, to be honest, a disgrace!! There were 8 of us, we paid almost 40 EUR each, = 320, -, but we each got a mini pot for meat fondue (3 small bowls of meat, pork, chicken ... beef (not fillet), plus ready-made sauces. As side dishes, a little bread, raw champions and broccoli! The cheese fondue was even worse, the cheese was lukewarm, and the middle was cold. Far too little for 4 people, plus cold pears, Ordering broccoli and Brussels sprouts costs 20 EUR and nothing is delivered! All in all, it's just a big rip off!!

The food is absolutely ok and of good quality, prices are reasonable and at Munich standards. However, there is a lot to be improved in the service, the waiters, most of whom come from the Balkans, are arrogant and arrogant, but by no means friendly, the staffing problem also seems to be vacant in the Hofbräukeller, otherwise you shouldn't employ such waiters because it will damage your reputation. It's also strange that from 4 p.m. onwards you can only get beer by measure in the beer garden and you're no longer allowed to buy a half... I don't think that's acceptable, you don't have to force sales by telling the guest how much he has to drink?? It's a shame, in general the catering industry is becoming more and more of a service desert!!

Rindroulade is not authentic enough, Wienerschnitzel is not authentic enough but is delicious. To be honest, I can’t tell the difference between these old beer halls after they were moved here and there.

I have experienced many waitresses but this was the worst I have ever experienced. We were treated aggressively, cheekily and like a dominatrix Even if it is full and everyone knows about the staffing situation everywhere, this is still no reason to take it out on the guests. When we wanted to order Kaiserschmarren the kitchen was closed. This without any notice from the waitress Even when spoken to, there was no sense of self-criticism, rather a sense of defiance and aggression. All in all a terrible experience in a great pub

With some friends we wanted to eat the best Kaiserschmarren, but also Bavarian food in general, in Munich. We ended up in this restaurant based on a recommendation. I think the place is not for vegetarians, but the Kaiserschmarren was delicious.

Typically Bavarian location. Big, loud and yet comfortable. We enjoyed it.

We waited at least 45 minutes for each course. Should the guests be brought to drink? Half the table wanted to go home so I packed up the others' Kaiserschmarrn (the box had already been prepared by the service) and warmed it up the next day. It tasted the same.

Great place for Wiener schnitzel! Amazing atmosphere!

The food is pretty standard German fare. Potatoes, cabbage and meat. The quality of the meats was a little poor. Sausages were very crumbly and dry, coarsely ground. The pork and duck were pretty bad, tough and chewy. The sourkraut was pretty good. The mashed potato was okay, the dumpling not so much. Reasonably priced for downtown Munich. The dining room was festive (just after Christmas). The beer, excellent.

It was a wonderful evening. The food was excellent and the service exemplary. We were particularly impressed by our waiter's courteous gesture. Thank you.

We were there for a Christmas dinner. The waiter was super flexible. Our dog got a few dog treats right at the beginning. The food was very good, large portions. However, the prices were in the upper segment. Charging 19.90 euros for a roast pork with bread dumplings and coleslaw, albeit a very good one, is very expensive and a wheat beer for 5.80 euros... well, it was still tasty 🤗.

I highly recommend the Hofbräukeller over the tourist trap Hofbräuhaus am Platzl. We were able to get a reservation but probably didn’t need to as there were plenty of open tables when we arrived. The food and beer were amazing, and our waiter was awesome! I can’t remember his name but he was from Italy and very friendly! We’ll definitely be back!

Hello dear innkeeper, hold on. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find a good German or Bavarian restaurant. There are more and more Italians, Chinese, Japanese and whatever they are called. Bavarian cuisine has very tasty dishes, such as roast pork or duck with dumplings and red cabbage. We had an excellent meal and received great service. It was a lovely evening, thank you very much

We went here for dinner on a weekday evening. The service was slow even though there was actually enough staff. My schnitzel was below average and the fries were dripping with grease. Nice ambience in a Bavarian inn.

Two visits in one week, two different experiences of service. Two French guests happened to be visiting and I live nearby, so I decided to try this Hofbräuhaus in Au-Haidhausen at Wienerplatz. First of all, don't expect ultra-friendly, overly smiley service here - that's part of the Bavarian bräuhaus charm. My first visit was more pleasant (Service 5*), perhaps because we had booked a table in advance, or it's just the waiter 😉. I've been to the famous Hofbräuhaus in the old town, but I prefer this one (Hofbräukeller) for its less touristy, cozier vibe and menu. Yes, their menus are different. The interior and atmosphere are equally impressive, and the food is fantastic. On both occasions we ordered the mixed platter, which has a 'bit' of everything (HOFBRÄUKELLER BRATENPFANDL/ HOFBRÄUKELLER ROASTING PAN). Be warned: the portions are huge! The first night, two of us (ladies) made the "mistake" of ordering a platter each and struggled to finish. The second time, on a cold day, I shared a plate with my lunch companion (a guy), along with two pretzels - and it was perfect. The Hofbräukeller has a charming beer garden (right on the banks of the Isar.) The atmosphere, with lanterns and greenery, is almost magical, like being in the countryside, definitely worth a visit in summer! All in all, it's a great place for an authentic Bavarian experience!

We went for a company dinner and they had prepared a room just for us. Rustic German style restaurant, good, filling food and attentive service despite the large number of diners.

A very nice restaurant with lots of space, good food and nice staff. I had a duck that was crispy and very juicy at the same time. The soup and dessert, a chocolate souffle, were also very tasty.

typical Bavarian Restaurant with all the flair of the Hofbrau-Haus etc. The food is classic but quite good. The beer .. well this is Munich :-) The prices are steep but not much higher than similar establishments. Overall, the best feature is their Beer garden during the warmer months of the year.

We enjoyed dinning here at Hofbrauekeller in Munich.. Our waiter ( Florio), provided excellent service. He was very attentive and friendly. Our food arrived quickly and was fresh, hot, and very delicious! We will return to this restaurant because of the service and good food. We highly recommend coming here!

Food in the beer garden is mediocre and overpriced. Update 12/24: Reservations don't work, table is far too small for the number of people ordered, waiter 0.0 helpful and then brings beers with disintegrated foam that are poured two fingers below the mark. You can really get sensitive customer service there.

We came here for a group dinner while in Munich, 50 Americans, Canadians, and Chinese with a couple Germans. The atmosphere was off the chart, the wait staff did great, and the food was very excellent. We had a great time. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant.

We had the Wienerschnitzel twice with fries and potato salad. The price-performance ratio is simply no longer right. It's absolutely average, this time even lower.

Pancake soup with rather dry pancakes. The schnitzel was a bit small for the price, but it was crispy and beautifully sautéed, but unfortunately the meat didn't see any salt at all before being breaded. Too bad. At just under 40 euros for soup schnitzel and spritzer you should expect more care.

Fantastic service and food. Arrived without a reservation and seated almost immediately even though they were packed. Our waitress was very good and patient. The beer was AMAZING! We had soup, shared the roaster pan (roast, duck, and pig knuckle), and had fritters for dessert. Added a side of sauerkraut and spaetzle just for good measure. Prices were very reasonable.

The roast pork was very good, but hardly manageable.

Every year after the Oktoberfest we go to the Hofbräukeller to get rid of the remaining brands. Everyone should have been there at least once. The food is very good and affordable. The staff is very friendly and competent. The ambience is super great. The only thing that bothers me personally is that when there are a lot of people present, the noise level is too high for me. But as mentioned before, this is true for me personally. But that's no reason not to go there anymore. The Hofbräukeller has been around for years and you can meet people from a different culture. As already mentioned, if you are in Munich you should visit the Hofbräukeller once or several times.

Check the bill. Always check the bill. They put wine, when we never had wine. The Biergarten in summer is really good. But the restaurant inside, in winter was really a bad experience. Burger had no sauce inside, except a ton of mustard on a small side, full of onion, but the beef patty was delicious. The fries were ok, came with a side sauce that was diluted and I didn't like. Hot chocolate was warm, not hot, unmixed, so there wete chunks of cocoa. The waiter couldn't wait to leave sooner. Took the pepper and salt as we were eating, took all the cutlery as soon as we took what we needed (including with all the napkins, because why not have just one per person?)... The burger was very expensive, and I would never have posted this review if they didn't add extra stuff to the check.

It was our first time inside the restaurant after we had been to the beer garden a few times in the summer and really enjoyed it there. The restaurant is also very nice, the food is great, the beer is delicious. Unfortunately, it is relatively loud in the large room, so you can't really have a conversation. Our waiter didn't have the best day, but it was still a nice evening, we'll be back! ☺️

In my opinion, convenience food. The schnitzel was a disaster, looked like it came from the microwave and tasted like it too. Fries were raw inside. In my opinion, the fried chicken salad is also never freshly prepared and breaded. Looked like frozen and warmed chicken. Munich can do this, and in particular many other inns, worlds better.

For me it's really the worst beer garden in Munich. The staff is unfriendly, the food is bad and expensive. Negative reviews are systematically deleted here. The glossed-over overall rating should therefore be viewed with caution.

We have been to the Hofbräukeller several times now, also because of the cheap day ticket Unfortunately, each time the 2 dishes for €9.90 from the menu were already gone at 2 p.m Very annoying!!!! The Hofbräukeller, which overlooks the picturesque Wienerplatz, is one of the historic breweries of the Bavarian capital. At the time it was located "outside the walls", in the factory that produced the drink. On 16.X.1919 a peevish fellow with a mustache gave his first public speech there. The production complex was moved to the suburbs in 1988, but the taproom remained. Its premises are vast and variously decorated in typical Bavarian style. It also houses a children's corner, much appreciated by parents with young children. In the summer months the garden, dominated by enormous horse chestnut trees, attracts crowds of customers. It is mainly the inhabitants of the beautiful Haidhausen neighborhood who frequent this place of beer culture. There is therefore no mass of "caciarous", intrusive and inebriated tourists that poisons the most famous pubs in the historic center. I frequented it assiduously between 2013-2018 when I lived nearby, almost always drawing pleasant memories both for the excellent quality of the beer and for the gastronomic offer (the efficiency of the kitchen and the waiters was impressive), and, finally, for the "Gemütlichkeit" (welcoming and relaxing environment). The staff was an absolute disgrace. There were 20 of us and we had to pay together. We were also treated cheekily several times and the prices were outrageously high. I will never enter this store again.

The beer garden must be wonderful in summer. Now in the fall it's better to stay indoors. Great ambience, nice service.. I love HB beer!!!

Today at lunchtime (12 guests dining in the restaurant) we ordered a young pork roast and a Viennese schnitzel. The roast young pig would certainly have tasted even better if it had been warm. The operator did not respond to this notice. At the same time, the Weiner Schnitzel was only brought out 10 minutes after I briefly asked the waitress “whether it is customary for two dishes not to be served together?” At the neighboring table, the coleslaw for the roast young pig was only brought to us after we asked. Don't want to know what it's like when there are more people there.

Half farm duck, super crispy and candied Kaiserschmarrn for dessert! You can hardly eat something better like this anywhere else! Highly recommended Bavarian cuisine!

Overall decent food and great beer, but far from flawless. The spaetzle were completely flavourless, even with the sauce (not of my liking, but that’s on me). Leads me to believe that sides may not be completely fresh. On the other hand, the main was great. What bothered me the most was the service. Arrogant and annoying. They are always in a hurry, yet forget being asked if you want anything else. You almost have to tackle them to capture their attention. Moreover, they force you to pay with cash, hoping for a tip. Like hell I’m going to tip you with that service! Eventually, if you tell them enough times that you intend to pay by card, they surrender. And make you wait 15 minutes to bring you the card receiver (pos). Honestly, there are far better places in Munich.

Nice beer garden in summer. Guest rooms inside are also very comfortable. Food is also very good. Guests can park at a discount in our own underground car park. The Hofbräukellrr is easily accessible by subway (Max-Weber-Platz). For larger groups, a deposit must unfortunately be paid when booking to show up.

This is one of the best restaurants in Munich for typical Bavarian Cuisine. The food was delicious and the atmosphere very cosy. Highly recommended 👌

We ordered all of this. I actually don’t know the names because I went with a german friend who recommended and ordered. Everything was wonderful. The pretzel and the sweet potato fries were my favorite. The place is giant! I think it’s a very known restaurant in München (for the locals). Prices were good given the deli food.
