Everything was great and clean. The selection was excellent and the food was of excellent quality. The service was nervous.

The menu is small, but everything is fresh. It's nice to sit outside, even if the table is on a bit of a slope. The sour sausages were excellently marinated in vinegar and onion broth, the Swiss sausage salad had plenty of sausage and was also well seasoned and dressed, and the stuffed schnitzel had a delicious cheese inside. Special requests were accommodated. The service was friendly. The cook even came out and asked everyone there if everything was okay. We found that very pleasant 👍🏻 Beer on tap: a pale wheat beer from the Hofbräuhaus was delicious/a smooth wheat beer. Verdict: We'd gladly go back 👍🏻

I visited Regensburg as a day trip and I also wanted to eat pork knuckle. The dish was so good. Very fulfilling. The crispy skin was perfect. The dumpling ball and the gravy were delicious too. I ate on the inside because I did not want to deal with the insects. The server was really nice and attentive even though I did not speak German. The atmosphere was nice and quiet. That may be because it was early during the day.

A quick beer in the rain; the orders from the neighboring table looked very good. The staff immediately took care of the guest's well-being.

We've gone here occasionally for seven years. The food has gone shockingly downhill. On our most recent visit, the sauce with the sauerbraten was sweet and had so congealed that it was inedible. The spaetzle was so soaked in butter that it was also essentially inedible. We ate a few bites and left most of the dish uneaten. The bratkartoffeln with the herz vom rost were undercooked and came closer to a gratin. A nice family runs this place, but that's not enough to recommend it.

The food was delicious. Unfortunately, the pork knuckle was sold out on Monday afternoon, which is really annoying when you're going to a Bavarian Hofbräuhaus just for that.

An authentic Bavarian inn in the best sense of the word. Roast with dumplings or grilled sausages with sauerkraut, accompanied by a freshly tapped beer. If you're lucky, the landlady might stop by for a moment.

It was good, the atmosphere is nice, the food is good. Not extreaordinary or memorable just simply normal good food with nice service. There are herz on the speisekarte which you cannot find a lot of places nowadays. So yes overall rating 3.8.

Nice atmosphere and service, we were not lucky though with food that day, despite ordering traditional Bavarian meals. They simply lacked flavour and taste. Maybe it is better place for drinking, than eating?

I'm rating the inner courtyard here, which isn't necessarily bad, but not particularly beautiful either (in contrast to the interior). There's also outdoor seating near the busy pedestrian zone. The food was hearty and delicious, and the beer was as good as ever and freshly tapped. The staff was quite attentive; even though there was only one person running around, everything still worked out.

Very unpleasant experience. I stopped in to have a beer. There were musicians playing some oompah music and I took several photos. One of the staff members came over and yelled at me for taking photos and told me to stop - which I did. He then came back several minutes later and yelled at me again for not respecting the people playing music. This is a tourist destination in the heart of Regensburg. I would think taking pictures of people playing music would be a daily experience. The staff member was extremely rude! Would NOT recommend this establishment.

We had a really good meal there, and our young waiter was so nice. Unfortunately, we didn't ask his name, but he was really nice. My friend had a really nice one. 🎂 Full marks.

Had visited Munchen several times so when I came here on my final evening to taste delicious Bavarian food and beer again. The roast pork was delicious and the piece of crackle extremely crunchy - yums!! Portion size is good. Price is reasonable for the quality. The HB beer is the best beer I tasted on this trip which included beers from other parts of Germany, Czech, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. Wonderful thirst quencher on a hot early evening. I thought the male waiter (in white short sleeve shirt) who served me was extremely patient and helpful. On first look at the English part of the menu, I saw only cold platters and sausages so I decided to leave. But fortunately I let the waiter know why I was leaving and he told me the first page in German had the more traditional meaty dishes I wanted. He proceeded to then translate each item for me! No sign of displeasure or unhappiness from him at all. I gave him a bigger tip because he deserved it. I do not understand the bad recent reviews here. Maybe its members from the same cruise ship writing in individually. Give this restaurant a try and judge for yourself. P/S: if you think I am a soft touch, have a look at some of the harsh reviews I have handed out in the past and on this current trip. I tell it as it is!

Nice ambiance, but the waitresses were completely unmotivated and disinterested. After a long wait, we weren't served and left the place thirsty. It wasn't busy, and there were enough waitstaff.

Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. The roast pork was laced with flavor enhancers, and the venison goulash with spaetzle was inedible! Never again!

The asparagus was not warm, the ham was thick and hard, potatoes too soft and salty But still I was so happy finally to get asparagus and started eating. The nice waiter asked me if all is ok, I answered truthfully that the asparagus is not hot. I asked him to feel it and he agreed that it was cold. He offered a new portion of asparagus. Please note I did not complain and would have eaten it as I was hungry as well. So he took the meal Shortly after, a woman who called herself 'chefin' Frau Gardner-Schafbauer, came back with a styropor box and my whole meal inside. What a disgusting sight, all mixed up in this cheap box. She said 'you can take it home'. I thought that was a joke and said ' I live in a hotel and do not want to take it. Still expecting to get a new portion of asparagus. No I was mistaken. They made me pay for the horrible meal in the styropor box. I had to leave hungry and needed to go to another restaurant for a meal. I travel a lot and eat often in restaurants. NEVER EVER anything like this happened before. This unprofessional woman said 'the cook took out the asparagus of the hot water. So maybe the plate was waiting too long to be brought to the customer. Could be many reasons why the meal was cold, but so brutally putting the customer into the wrong, is just shocking.

The best schnitzel with potato and cucumber salad in the world 🤗 I'll definitely go back next time I'm in Regensburg. The waitress in a dirndl was attentive and very friendly. This old Bavarian inn is beautiful.

Die Bedienung war erst mal sehr nett. Das Schnitzel und die Haxenstücke waren kaum gewürzt und die Haxe so hart und trocken, dass sie fast nicht zu schneiden war. Auf nachfragen, ob es geschmeckt habe äußerten wir unser Anliegen und wurden ab sofort ignoriert. Das war für uns leider ein Reinfall.

“Just” had a beer in the courtyard. The lady from the service made a rough impression at first, but that was put into perspective pretty quickly. Typically Bavarian style, tough in tone but still warm and funny. Had a lot of fun!

I recently visited Hofbräuhaus Regensburg and was blown away by the authentic Bavarian cuisine! The decor was traditional, the service was warm, and the food was incredible. The Kässespätzle was a highlight, with flavors that transported me to the streets of Bavaria. the beer selection was impressive. Make a reservation for a traditional Bavarian food.

Optisch ein schönes Lokal. Service war aufmerksam aber essen konnte man nicht mehr umbestellen nach dem man es eine Minute davor bestellt hatte. Wurstsalat war kein Highlight. Würde ich nicht mehr essen. (Keine gute Wurst sowie auch kein guter Käse)

Of course very meat-heavy (but also some vegetarian and one vegan dish). The restaurant offers friendly service and a somewhat rustic atmosphere. Unfortunately, our food was rather lukewarm or cool and therefore seemed less fresh. All in all, a decent restaurant but not the best there is.

Das Angebot an verschiedenen Gerichten ist sehr gut. Gegessen wird in einem großen Speisesaal in uriger Atmosphäre. Dass Unfreundlichkeit, die man früher vielleicht in solchen Wirtshäusern erwartet hat, kein Zeichen bayerischer Authentizität ist, ist noch nicht bei den Bedienungen angekommen. Dafür wird man von der Hausherrin begrüßt.

Inn run with passion. Authentic Bavarian cuisine with almost forgotten dishes such as “sour liver” e.g. We ate good Viennese-style schnitzel, nice and thin and with great breading. We also had a mixed salad with a very good dressing. Very quick service and even the senior manager asked if everything was okay. Portions to fill you up - we were very satisfied and will come back when we are in Regensburg. It's lucky that there are still inns that value tradition. Wonderful tablecloths that no longer exist today. Thank you !

Although this historic restaurant, which opened in 1930 has an attractive traditional interior I chose to sit outside at the square facing the Old Town Hall. There are only a few tables and most customers were just drinking a draught beer, as I did, usually a 'Helles Hofbräu' from Munich. Since I liked it here, I asked the friendly and professional young waiter in 'Lederhosen' to have dinner outside. As usual, when travelling, I wanted to try a typical speciality, in this case a Bavarian 'Schweinebraten' (Pork Roast). The waiter agreed to serve me a small portion, which was way enough for me. The 'Schweinebraten' came with Knödel, thus Potato Dumplings, and a separate Salad with the typical German dressing, which includes cream and sugar and which I don't particularly like. The food otherwise was very good, the roast coming with a separate crust of Pork Rind. To drink I had a glass of white wine, a Müller Thurgau from Volkacher Kirchberg, a big wine growing area by the river Main in Franken. Since as desserts they only had Brownies I just went for an Espresso and a digestive schnapps from the Bavarian Forest: a 'Bärwurz' made from the plant Meum. It was of clear colour, with 38% alcohol not too strong and with a pleasant bitter taste. It was possible to pay outside by credit card, but the waiter asked me to give the tip in cash.

Friends, not like that. We asked if there was tea and was told no, even though it was on the menu. Then there was him. Later, card payment was rejected in the same way and then allowed. There was a general feeling of not being welcome for a quick beer. It's understandable that the store is empty at 5 in the afternoon on Fridays.

Appalling reception. My husband and I were ushered out without them asking us what we were looking for by a female. Absolutely no customer service skills at all, and very rude. Do not waste your money here. Absolutely no excuse for this reception. So taken aback will tell all our fellow travellers on our river boat cruise to not go near.

Despicable welcome from two female members of staff who should not be anywhere near the hospitality industry. The bar area wasn’t particularly busy but to be met with scowls and extremely rude behaviour is unacceptable. As we were on a river cruise, I made it a point to inform my fellow passengers to avoid HB at all costs. Take my advice and take your hard earned cash elsewhere.

Unfortunately in the evening the classics like pork knuckle, roast pork etc. all of which had already been eaten by guests before me. It's a shame, I was so looking forward to eating one of these dishes. So I was pretty disappointed. The young man in service noticed this straight away and still made a nice evening for me with his friendliness and courteousness and an extremely customer-friendly solution. And what can I say: the schnitzel in pumpkin seed breading was also a poem! So to everyone who comes to Regensburg. You are in good hands at the Hofbräuhaus!! Gladly again next time.

It was fine and probably about what you'd expect. What I found surprising was that there was a vegan meal - vegetable rice. It was also very tasty, but of course it would be even cooler if there was also a vegan dish that would go more with the other food there, vegan roast or something like that.

The worst restaurant in Regensburg for service, or should i saw lack of service. The staff just ignore you when you walk into this place, and after 10 minutes, still not even a menu was offered to us, despite requesting these from the staff. The one male waiter went so far as to mumble something, shrug his shoulders as if to indicate we were disturbing his disgusting service attitude, and walked off again. This type of restaurant clearly doesn't need customers ..... and they will never see a cent from us.

Excellent food and beer restaurant with top service. If you have hearts on the menu, definitely order! And if possible, sit outside, the view of the town hall is unique.

Decorated like at my shared party in 2011. Apart from the weather, nothing was nice. The views in the beer garden are as rosy as Berlin prefabricated buildings.

Antica e tipica birreria tedesca della HB , le cameriere vestite con abiti tradizionali molto gentili e premurose, ottimo cibo in un ambiente di altri tempi nel pieno centro della città. Prezzi più che ottimi, per quello che abbiamo preso , primo , secondo e contorni a meno di 24€ a testa , assolutamente consigliato .

You should try the proper bavarian traditional breakfast, which includes.. beer!
