Hofbräu in Bamberg

Got food I didn't order even though I showed it on the menu, we had to pay twice for beers and extremely unfriendly service... I wouldn't recommend it to anyone

The food was okay, but the service was extremely unfriendly. We also had to pay twice for three beers because a colleague paid in cash, but these beers were still on the final bill. I absolutely cannot recommend it.

Unfriendly dad. Drinks delivered to the table that were never ordered.

The atmosphere is rustic, cozy, and typically Franconian – exactly what you'd want in a city like Bamberg. A very special thank you goes to our waitress Ragnar, who made the evening perfect with her warm and courteous manner. She was extremely friendly, attentive, and always there with a smile. You can immediately tell that she's passionate about her job – making you feel completely at home as a guest. We were also treated to a culinary delight: We opted for the schnitzel with fresh asparagus – and it was fantastic! The schnitzel was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and the asparagus was wonderfully tender and aromatic. The accompanying sauce and side dishes – simply divine. Hofbräu Bamberg is a place we can highly recommend to everyone. And if you're lucky enough to be served by Ragnar, nothing stands in the way of a perfect evening.

There are so many beautiful breweries in Bamberg and then Zirndörfer is served, a disgrace.

Beautifully located restaurant. Service a bit gruff. Food is good. The snacks are great for a quick bite.

Much better than expected. We had asparagus salad and cream of asparagus soup. Both were excellent. The waiters were stressed but friendly. The prices are also reasonable for the location. Definitely not a tourist trap, but good food in a prime location.

We were "unfortunately" just here for a drink at the bar, passing through. The staff's excellent communication demonstrates not only their efficiency but also the joy of working together. This naturally rubs off on the guests' well-being. Special praise to the bartender, and thanks for the breakfast tip 😃 We'll be back.

There's almost no parking directly at the restaurant. There's an underground garage nearby. Very nice ambiance, friendly service, and delicious food. A sufficient selection of food and drinks.

The food was pricey but still tasty. The portions aren't huge but they fill you up. But many people don't get their money's worth here. The staff is friendly and quick. Despite the full outdoor area, we didn't have to wait long for our food. The toilets are clean.

The food was delicious, we had crusty roast and the veal cakes, which we can only recommend. The service is really nice and attentive even when the house is full. Our dog immediately got a water bowl! Great! Unfortunately the location on the street with bus traffic, we sat outside, is not ideal. All in all, highly recommended!

We (four people) wanted to quench our thirst at the Hofbräu on a very warm day. The male waitress told us that “he didn’t have room outside just to drink”. We could sit down to drink in the restaurant or in the entrance area (standing room). But there you felt completely pushed aside and after 5 minutes there was still no service in sight. This unfriendly manner then brought him a 0 euro turnover. The Irish pub three streets away had then made the turnover. Your own fault!

Way too expensive for what you get. Salad with goat cheese wonton had almost 7 lettuce leaves, a slice of cucumber and half a tomato. More of a tourist rip-off. Despite a reservation, we had to leave after 2 hours.

Very nice and courteous service. Rauchbier and Zirndorfer Radler tasted great. Gladly again.

We spontaneously went here for dinner yesterday and ate on the outside terrace. In addition to the typical German dishes, there were also seasonal dishes with asparagus. Everything tasted good to us. The waiters were friendly. We can recommend the Hofbräu in Bamberg.

Absolute tourist rip-off. Don't go here under any circumstances. I worked in the catering industry myself and as the gentleman spoke to us, in my 5 years in the catering industry I couldn't imagine speaking to customers in such an outrageously unfriendly manner. I would have liked to get up and leave after this discussion. Apart from the bad food. And then gossip in front of the customers. Thank you for ruining our day, you are beyond rude. I would strongly advise everyone not to enter this store. Greetings to the waiter :)

We reserved a table the day before. With dog. Outdoor area. 2 people. The tables to the left and right were no more than 20 cm apart. Good thing our table neighbors were dog lovers. Food ordered at 6:15 p.m., served at 7:05 p.m. after asking twice. The service was aware that something had gone wrong. However, even when asked, no apology. The salad was extremely vinegary. As a salt lover myself, the portion of fries was far too salty for me. However, the consistency of the fries was very good. Overall we were disappointed. We have never given no “tip”. But that was more than disappointing. Even the offered schnapps wouldn't have made up for it. We refused. It's a shame....😭

Great Franconian dishes. The veninson goulash is particularly tasty.

We were warmly welcomed and shown to the table. There was absolutely nothing that could be improved on the service. The restaurant was very busy, but our food was served in a respectable time. The food was very tasty and excellently prepared, high praise to the cooks and the head chef. Even when dining, the guests' well-being was always taken into account. Many thanks again to the whole team.

Super nice service. We had a delicious little lunch. Black pudding in wonton fried on lukewarm lentil salad. Plus a Silvaner. Highly recommended!

We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. The evening was very pleasant, we were looked after very well by the service team. We were always asked if everything was okay or if there was anything else we would like. Unfortunately, anything else is no longer a given today. The crusty roast was also great. The Hofbräu will be open again on my next visit to Bamberg.

Friendly and attentive service staff. Pollock was frozen including breading. That doesn't have to be the case. Savoy cabbage garnish was tasteless. The selection of draft beers is well chosen.

You have to eat the schnitzel. The wine list is also very extensive.

The Hofbräu is very centrally located in Bamberg. The five of us just came here in the evening to have a drink and something to eat. Very busy restaurant, we only found a place after the second attempt. For food there was apple strudel, chocolate cake and the vegan curry. Everything was very tasty. The service was courteous, open and very friendly. A good selection of drinks with delicious beer and spirits. One tip is the naturally cloudy Biernenenobstler.

It was great that we spontaneously got a table for 4 people and were then served such delicious food. The crusty roast with savoy cabbage and dumplings was great. The crust itself is a highlight. Based on the name, I would have expected Bamberger beer, but Tucher is tasty too. The restaurant was full and I can understand why guests like to be pampered here.

Tasty home-style cuisine. The room is relatively small with tables placed close together. The kitchen door, which is always kept open - which is directly adjacent to the toilet door - further spoils the ambience.

I went there twice during my short vacation in Bamberg. The service is excellent, friendly and on the ball. I had roast pork once and duck on the second day. Both highly recommended and very well prepared and tasty. No long waiting times. Beer fresh from the tap, as it should be. I would go there again at any time.

Beautiful Hofbräuhaus in a very beautiful setting! The smoked beer is very good, the prices are quite okay. The service is good and fast. The only drawback is the space is very limited. I'd love to come back.

Clean and pleasant place. The cuisine is rich, with typical/traditional dishes. I would recommend it. Maybe a little narrow if you are in a wheelchair and a stroller. They have a vegetarian option

The restaurant is nice and big, even when it is very full the service staff are very calm, nice and funny. But the toilets were so disgustingly dirty that I haven't seen them in a restaurant for a long time.

We only stopped here for a beer at the outside bar. The staff is friendly and attentive and brought the order to the table quickly. Prices are typical for the area and are okay. I can't give a review of the food on offer.

We had to visit Bamberg and try the famous Rauchbier. It heard it was an acquired taste, I thought it was good and very different. My wife quite liked it. Hofbrau was a pleasant establishment with extremely friendly service. The bar tenders were extremely busy yet very attentive and since we had to sit at the bar because the place is very busy, but they were great. They have great vegan options..I had the vegetable red curry and it was wonderful. I highly recommend this place.

We came here for the Rauchbier and the vegan options. Btw, the Rauchbier ist sehr gut! The staff are incredibly friendly (and very busy) and made sure we had beers and great food. My husband had the Veganes rotes GEMÜSEcurry (referenced as spicy but it isn’t) and I had the Veganes Gemüse-RATATOUILLE. Das schmeckt gut! We loved it all and were super thankful for the vegan options!

Today we visited here to treat ourselves to a hot mulled wine to go. As usual from our previous visits, the quality and price were absolutely OK and the young man in service was super nice and quick. As always everything is great and see you soon! Of course we had to have dinner soon and we were served really good food with roast and kree meat. Great and see you soon!
