Truly 10/10. Excellent food, drinks, atmosphere, and service. Prices are very reasonable, servers speak excellent Deutch and English.

Rather crowdy place with typical dishes. We ordered sausages and they were ok.

I went there alone for dinner tonight. I understand that it gets busy during peak hours and that there might be a wait. However, the unfriendly tone of the staff was unnecessarily harsh and ruined my evening. One older male employee/waiter, in particular, spoke very brusquely from the start, making me feel unwelcome. When I said I wanted to have dinner there, I was eventually told to wait. While I waited, a table seemed to become available. When I politely inquired whether the table was now free, I received a very curt and dismissive reply, essentially saying that no tables would be available "until everything is ready." This could have been explained calmly and respectfully—the tone here was condescending. I did finish eating, but the staff's behavior was so unpleasant that I don't want to return. Friendliness and respect urgently need improvement.

We had dinner at Hofbräu over the weekend. The food arrived quite quickly and was generally tasty. The sauce for the duck wasn't great, and I couldn't understand why the creamed savoy cabbage had the consistency of baby food. The service was fast, and the staff were very friendly. Reservations are necessary, at least on weekends.

Christmas Market Tour 2025. Last evening in Bamberg. Beautifully situated restaurant. Since there were eight of us, a reservation was necessary. The service was friendly, funny, and quick. The food arrived for everyone at the same time. Excellent! The food: Brewery specialties as you'd expect: roast pork, veal schnitzel, venison goulash, etc. But also great salad variations with strips of beef, liver, or shrimp. Vegetarian options are excellent: salad, mushroom cream sauce with dumplings, vegetable ratatouille, vegetable curry, etc. Delicious. Drinks: Draft beer and other beverages, plus tasty schnapps. The food was okay, but the portions were very small.

It's a brewery where you just want to enjoy a relaxing beer, but we were seated in the aisle and told to drink our beer quickly because they needed a table. We had ordered food, but the plates didn't look appealing.

Manager was rude since I entered and asked for a table, behaved as if I annoy him even though the place was empty. Waiter was kind but we had to tell twice that we need a bit time to explain the menu to our foreign friends and that we’d call them ourselves. Food was tasty but for what?

We stopped there yesterday around 5:30 pm. Unfortunately, we didn't like the beer, but that's a matter of taste. My wife had the roast pork with savoy cabbage and a dumpling, and I had a veal schnitzel. My wife could only try a small piece of the dumpling because it was so dry. The chef must have been very, very fond of the savoy cabbage and my fries, because both were extremely salty. So, apart from the meat, two plates went back to the kitchen almost untouched. The server simply said she would inform the kitchen.

Delicious and plentiful! We shared the portions to make it through three courses. It was ok but without any great enthusiasm. Good atmosphere and packed - glad we booked a table. Thought they brewed their own beer but they don't. There were still good beers to choose from.

Quaint but somewhat lacking in tradition. Drinks and food came quickly. They advertise slow food, but the pollock fillet is somehow "almost" done. The herring is home-style, with no particular nuances. The veal schnitzel is enormous. The staff is friendly.

Review for Hofbräuhaus Bamberg A typical tourist spot, the kind you find in almost every hotspot. The price-performance ratio is completely out of whack. A salad that was explicitly not supposed to be spicy was extremely spicy. The currywurst – for a very hefty price – arrived cold. Both dishes were returned. In the end, we only paid for the drinks. Unfortunately, we wouldn't recommend it. Unfortunately, no apology from the waiter either.

Food was yummy, but we wanted to try the bamberg food which was option 2 in menu 17euro, the waitress brought us option 3,23 euro.. we did not notice it and at the end when we noticed we told them,,, instead if apologizing or getting 17 euro they made us pat for the wrong...

Touristy restaurant. I had the roast pork. It was good, but you can't go wrong with that one. The dumpling was still partly raw, the savoy cabbage was like baby food, puréed far too finely, an unsightly mess. It's hard to believe this is the region's celebrated cuisine. The price is commensurate with the central location. My polite criticism when paying was silently acknowledged. No apologies or anything. Is that how they treat customers here? All in all, very disappointing. If I go back to Bamberg, I won't eat there.

A really good restaurant in the heart of Bamberg. Drinks (beer and wine) were nice and cold. The food (starters and main courses) was also delicious, the portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable. Sitting outside, it's naturally busy, but that's exactly what we wanted. We were at the Hofbräu in Bamberg and got our food quickly – the daily special I ordered was okay, although the meat had a bit of gristle. My wife had fries, which were probably coated and therefore really crispy. Unfortunately, the service didn't seem particularly friendly, and the overall atmosphere was more reminiscent of a beer tent at the Oktoberfest – a matter of taste. Overall, it was solid, but there's room for improvement.

The food is simply delicious. We were there a few years ago in the winter and weren't disappointed this summer either. Great, friendly service, and the dishes came super quickly. I really like that you can order all the dishes on the menu as a child's portion for children. My son also loved the roast pork.

The food arrives quickly and is consistently good. The meat, in particular, is high-quality and beautifully tender, but the vegetarian dishes are equally as good. The breading, especially, is always crispy. The seating is very comfortable, and aside from the many smokers, which the restaurant can't help, the beer garden is also excellent. Anyone looking for a good, centrally located restaurant in Bamberg should stop here.

I would love to give the service 10 stars instead of just 5. Two of us ate here today. Because we weren't that hungry but really wanted the bratwurst, we shared a portion. Luckily, this wasn't a problem for the waiter at all, and we got a second plate. The lady who served us was very friendly and accommodating, exactly what you want! We forgot our backpack, and she ran after us all the way to the bridge to let us know that it was still with her. Since we were just passing through, it would have been a disaster if it had gotten lost. Luckily, the waiter at this restaurant helped us two complete idiots :) The food was, of course, perfect, too!

Centrally located, the soup was okay, but the service was unfortunately completely awful: The waitress regularly reprimands customers, and "please" and "thank you" are apparently not part of their vocabulary. And smiling at the customer and then turning around and making a face is disrespectful. Unfortunately, we observed this behavior from several waitresses. We'd rather pay the salaries of friendly employees at other restaurants.

We spent 5 days traveling in Upper Franconia. Great area, very nice around the restaurant. The food... We visited at least 10 restaurants or beer gardens, and by far the worst food was served; everyone at the table agreed.

We were here yesterday with seven people. We went to a place where we could all sit. After the waiter came and asked us to change seats, we asked, and were told we had to change seats or leave. But we didn't get an explanation as to why we had to change seats. Unfortunately.

A typical tourist shop where the price-performance ratio is unfortunately not right. The wild boar sausage had an indefinable taste. The dumplings looked like wedges, and it's questionable whether the red cabbage was homemade. The location by the bridge is good, but that's about it.

We were there today and were unfortunately extremely disappointed. None of us four enjoyed the food, which is something I've never experienced before. My shrimp salad was returned almost untouched, which didn't even prompt the wait staff to ask. The shrimp were undercooked and sour, the salad was barely dressed and simply tasted bad. My friends' fish was frozen, and the potato salad was sour and not homemade. My boyfriend's red cabbage was completely overcooked. We're happy to pay more for good food, but the prices here were absolutely not reasonable. What a shame.

A very special thank you goes to our waitress Ragnar, who made the evening perfect with her warm and courteous manner. She was extremely friendly, attentive, and always there with a smile. You can immediately tell that she's passionate about her job – making you feel completely at home as a guest. We were also treated to a culinary delight: We opted for the schnitzel with fresh asparagus – and it was fantastic! The schnitzel was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and the asparagus was wonderfully tender and aromatic. The accompanying sauce and side dishes – simply divine. Hofbräu Bamberg is a place we can highly recommend to everyone. And if you're lucky enough to be served by Ragnar, nothing stands in the way of a perfect evening.

Much better than expected. We had asparagus salad and cream of asparagus soup. Both were excellent. The waiters were stressed but friendly. The prices are also reasonable for the location. Definitely not a tourist trap, but good food in a prime location.

We (four people) wanted to quench our thirst at the Hofbräu on a very warm day. The male waitress told us that “he didn’t have room outside just to drink”. We could sit down to drink in the restaurant or in the entrance area (standing room). But there you felt completely pushed aside and after 5 minutes there was still no service in sight. This unfriendly manner then brought him a 0 euro turnover. The Irish pub three streets away had then made the turnover. Your own fault!

Way too expensive for what you get. Salad with goat cheese wonton had almost 7 lettuce leaves, a slice of cucumber and half a tomato. More of a tourist rip-off. Despite a reservation, we had to leave after 2 hours.

Absolute tourist rip-off. Don't go here under any circumstances. I worked in the catering industry myself and as the gentleman spoke to us, in my 5 years in the catering industry I couldn't imagine speaking to customers in such an outrageously unfriendly manner. I would have liked to get up and leave after this discussion. Apart from the bad food. And then gossip in front of the customers. Thank you for ruining our day, you are beyond rude. We reserved a table the day before. With dog. Outdoor area. 2 people. The tables to the left and right were no more than 20 cm apart. Good thing our table neighbors were dog lovers. Food ordered at 6:15 p.m., served at 7:05 p.m. after asking twice. The service was aware that something had gone wrong. However, even when asked, no apology. The salad was extremely vinegary. As a salt lover myself, the portion of fries was far too salty for me. However, the consistency of the fries was very good. Overall we were disappointed. We have never given no “tip”. But that was more than disappointing. Even the offered schnapps wouldn't have made up for it. We refused. It's a shame....😭
