We ate at Zeis in Bamberg and were absolutely delighted. The service was incredibly friendly – ​​we felt right at home. The Schäufele (pork shoulder) was perfect: crispy on the outside, wonderfully juicy on the inside – a real treat! The vegan roast was also delicious and shows that the food here is cooked with love and skill, whether it's meat or plant-based. A definite recommendation for anyone who wants to enjoy Franconian cuisine in a modern, relaxed atmosphere!

As somebody who grew up in germany and lived in bamberg for a long time, i had to write up a review. So first of all, if you are a tourist who wants to enjoy traditional bavarian cuisine but also enjoy a cup of coffee, then this is one of the very few places in Bamberg that i can highly recommend. It is a perfect blend of restaurant and caffee. Inside you eat in a traditional restaurant and outside you feel like enjoying the sun and talking with your friends for hours on end. The food and drinks quality is also very good, as to my knowledge all ingredients that can be locally sourced, are. What led me to write a review is that i have been frequenting this establishment for a long time now and the staff aswell as owners have always been more than kind to me, always making sure i was satisfied and had a great experience. So this review is my way of saying thank you to everybody who works at this establishment, you guys are doing an amazing job!

I used to enjoy eating here and was very pleasantly surprised to find they now offer vegan options. I had the vegan roast with sauerkraut and gravy. The dumplings were great, and I really liked the homemade gravy 👌 I didn't find the vegan roast quite as good, but it was okay. I was still very happy with my meal 😊

This café and restaurant is fantastic. We had a get-together with friends and received a warm welcome. We sat in a cozy little corner with a comfortable couch. The service staff was professional and friendly. Special requests regarding the food were accommodated and fulfilled, so we ate dinner there both evenings. The food itself was excellent, with large, satisfying portions. I highly recommend the Schäufele (pork shoulder). The value for money is outstanding. We stumbled upon this place by chance and managed to snag a table. We wanted to grab a drink after an evening stroll through the city. Super cozy, friendly service, simply authentic. The menu, written entirely in Franconian dialect, is a fun touch! The background music was great too. Next time we'll definitely order food and we're already looking forward to it :-)

I had a simple meal. No chef in the world could pull off something like that. It was delicious, I was full, and it was Franconian cuisine.

This was the first time I'd ever had authentic German food. I sat outside, and the fountain in front made for a fantastic atmosphere! The seats made me think, "This is the real Europe!" I had schnitzel, knödel, and sausages. Salad comes with every order, and even if you're not a fan of salads, it was delicious. I had the cheese bacon schnitzel, which was similar to Korea's cheese donkatsu. The sausages tasted like authentic German sausages, but the sauerkraut was warm and lacked a crunchy texture, which was disappointing. The knödel was a new experience for me, but it was fluffy and had meat inside, so it was delicious. I tried making it in Korea, but failed... The beer was the best I've ever had! I highly recommend it if you're in Bamberg!

Very good food in the heart of old-town Bamberg. The schnitzel with cheese, onions and potato salad is delicious. Unfortunately, I could not try the nice homemade tarts, as main course was very well served. Inside, the place is small and we have been unfortunate to share the space with some very noisy people.

The schnitzel was dry and the cheese on it didn't fit at all, it was served with roasted onions. The salad with the food was made in advance, dry carrots and felt stale. The salad was simple without any vinaigrette or anything like that. I got an old lemon that was brown but of course had to change it. Very tasty potato salad. Located in a cozy little square.

I didn't expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised: Both the veggie dishes and the classic meat dishes are really decent, the salad is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the surroundings are bustling enough to offer something to look at. Prices are naturally a bit higher than outside of the high-tourism zone.

With a bit of luck, I managed to reserve a table outside online, outside of the Sandkerwa festival. The service was extremely friendly, with attentive, lively young ladies. Rustic cuisine and a good selection of draft beer.

A really nice spot. Right on the water. The staff was overwhelmed. There was no conversation, no care, no attention. But she was completely overwhelmed by the crowd. I understand that; it was a lot for just the two of us. The food was decent. Huge portions. We couldn't finish it. We waited 20 minutes to pay, even after asking twice. Other people around us also had to wait a long time, and some even got up because they weren't getting any attention.

They are a bit more expensive, but the atmosphere is nice and the food is good.

So, the Zeis; the food was okay, but the service at the other restaurant was, in my opinion, faster and more attentive. But regardless, we were satisfied.

We had dinner at Restaurant Zeis two weeks ago. The friendly waitress recommended Julian's Cordon Bleu, and the cheese spaetzle filling was absolutely delicious! 🤤 For dessert, we had Kaiserschmarrn. Definitely recommend it! 👌🏻

We reserved a table by phone, and my requests were immediately accommodated 👍🏻 (I wanted a shady spot). When we were eating, I immediately noticed that as a guest, you are still really taken care of. Something I haven't experienced before. I had a Schäuferla (a kind of pork shoulder) and it was amazing 👍🏻, especially the Brändla (a kind of fried dumplings) were super crispy. My wife's schnitzel was also incredibly huge, and the potato salad was super homemade. The chef clearly knows what he's doing. All in all, the friendly staff constantly checked to make sure everything was perfect 👍🏻. It was our first time there and we'll definitely be back 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.

I was there for dinner last night. First, I was greeted very warmly by the waitress, and then I got a great seat outside... The food (filled schnitzel) was on the table in no time, and it was as delicious as it looked. Then there was a delicious dessert (Kaiserschmarrn)... There was also a delicious cappuccino 😂👍. And I was even able to have a quick, friendly chat with the waitress... The place was packed, so no one had to wait... She zipped around like the wind... and always had a smile on her face. Unfortunately, I don't know her name 😉. That's how Swabians like to go to their neighboring country 😂😂. Bamberg is a very beautiful destination.

Where else can you get one filled with ruffled pork or even cheese spaetzle? Absolutely brilliant! What I also thought was really cool: The menu is written in Franconian – it fits perfectly with the whole place and has a real charm. The location is fantastic, and the service was incredibly friendly and attentive. We immediately felt at home. In short: Everything was perfect, nothing to complain about – we'll definitely be back!

The cordon bleu was cooked a bit too long, resulting in a very dry, hard breading. The meat and filling were still excellent. The potato salad was okay, but way too sour for me. The same goes for the vinaigrette on the salad. Overall, everything was okay, but not particularly good. A plus: the very friendly service and hardly any wait time.

My wife and I closed down our first evening in Bamberg by having a glass of wine at this little cafe situated off a main square. We did not eat anything so I cannot comment on the food. However, the waitress was charming and very polite. The wine was a perfect nightcap too!

I’m usually someone who eats in small portions, but the food here was so good, I found myself finishing the entire (very generous) plate without a second thought. We ordered Julian's special cordon bleu. Every bite felt like a little celebration. The atmosphere? Warm and welcoming, with just the right balance of relaxed and refined. The drinks were excellent, and the warm, fluffy pancakes topped with a medley of fresh berries and a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream were the perfect balance of comfort and indulgence. The location of the restaurant, and the overall vibe made it easy to settle in and enjoy. Even the service was spot-on; attentive without being overbearing even though we sat inside. The temperature was perfect and not at all stuffy. For the price we paid, it honestly felt like a steal. A definite must-try if you're in the area! I'll surely be visiting again. 🥰🥰

And the great thing about the inn is that there is also something for vegans and vegetarians (vegetarian roast with dumplings and sauce and various cakes). We will definitely come back.

The food was okay and the service was sometimes a bit slow and overwhelmed, but otherwise this is a top location and really centrally located. You can stop by here from breakfast to lunch to dinner or even just a small snack.
