Gaststätte Hexenhäusla in Bamberg

We were drawn in by the fusion dishes (Franconian-Asian). However, the selection of these dishes is very limited. It's more Asian cuisine with a nice variety. The atmosphere is similar to a traditional inn. It was noticeable that the dishes were rarely served to each table at the same time. This could certainly be improved; therefore, only four stars for the overall very good service – even if this mainly concerns the kitchen management. Very popular, so reservations are essential (we were there on a Tuesday evening).

Good, traditional food with a magnificent view of Bamberg

⭐️ 1 Star I really debated for a long time how many stars to give. We were at HENRII about a year ago – back then everything was perfect: the food was excellent, the service very good. A clear 5 stars, really. So our second visit was all the more disappointing. We had a reservation for 5 people at 5:30 pm. Initially, everything was fine. When we wanted to order a steak for two, we were informed that it would take too long to cook and we wouldn't be able to have dessert because the table would be occupied again later. While this wasn't particularly friendly, it was okay – to accommodate them, we deliberately chose "regular" steaks and also ordered appetizers. The food was, as usual, very good – no complaints there. However, what followed was completely unacceptable: While we were still eating our main course, the waitstaff had already started clearing the table. When we asked if we could order dessert – since we had specifically opted out of the more time-consuming steaks – we were told that it wasn't possible. A minute later, the bill was placed on the table without our request, along with the instruction that we had to leave because the table needed to be prepared for the next guests. At that point, our glasses were still full, having been ordered about 10 minutes earlier. We politely asked several times to speak to the manager for a quick word of feedback – this was completely ignored. After only about 1.5 hours, we were forced to leave the restaurant with the suggestion that we could "come back at 7:30 p.m. next time, then we'd have the whole evening." I have never experienced anything like this in all my years of dining. Either you're able to offer a three-course meal within the reserved time slot, or you only book tables once. To treat guests like that is utterly disrespectful. Kleiner Zusatz: Das Ambiente ist grundsätzlich schön, aber Stühle mit Kerzenwachs auf der Sitzfläche wirken leider eher dürftig. Fazit: Wir werden nicht wiederkommen und das Restaurant auch nicht mehr weiterempfehlen.
