We were there on Friday, August 22nd, and had a reserved table. The food was good and plentiful. It's a shame they didn't serve fried potatoes! The staff is full of witty remarks. You have to be able to handle that... In any case, we had a lot of fun with the staff... and our witty remarks were answered promptly. All in all, a great restaurant with a fantastic view.

It's a great location overlooking Bamberg's rooftops. The beer was excellent, and our service was exceptionally friendly and prompt. Reservations—even during the week—are highly recommended; we were extremely lucky to find a group that was just freeing up space.

We had a wonderful lunch here after a city tour. The view was magnificent, the beer was excellent, and the food was absolutely delicious.

We did not have any food up there but it's definitely worth checking out. Relaxed hang out (altho we heard it can get pretty busy in there) and some nice regional beers from tap. Altho something else for people who are not that much into beer.

Unfortunately, the staff is very rude. There's hardly any parking… But the food is delicious and tasty.

We were lucky enough to come for “CSU Jazz Morning Pint with Soul Message” and had a wonderful time! The views and music can’t be beat. Food was good (nothing specccciiiallll but all solid) and service was attentive even though there wasn’t an empty seat in the house. Worth a visit for the ambiance alone but stay for everything else!

A beer garden with a hard-to-beat view of Bamberg and very friendly staff. I felt very comfortable here and enjoyed not only the view but also the friendly staff. I was also pleased by the clearly marked vegetarian and vegan dishes, with a selection of two vegan and two vegetarian options, which is quite reasonable to above average for a beer garden, considering that vegans or even vegetarians often go empty-handed. I opted for the vegan (pulled) Opflanzda (shrimp spread). It was nicely presented, but with only one slice, it was a bit too much for the bread that came with it. An extra slice I ordered cost extra. All in all, everything was very fine, the only criticism: I can't help but think that the price-performance ratio here is quite different for vegans than for meat eaters. While the latter can choose from a huge selection of homemade dishes, this was (if I'm not mistaken) the Opflanzda spread from the supermarket, which was quite nicely presented. I still prefer that a thousand times over no vegan option, and it's also very tasty, but I find three (or even four) times the retail price a bit steep. There are certainly vegan home-cooked options, and in my opinion, some research and effort would be worthwhile. As a vegan, you usually eat chili sin carne everywhere, or as a vegetarian, you eat the obligatory cheese spaetzle.

This cellar is an absolute must-visit in Bamberg. I've known it since my youth, and that was a long time ago. 🤭 We love the view over the city and the delicious, slightly smoky beer. The food is consistently good, but I sorely miss the pea puree with the Knöchla (a kind of dumpling). Hence, one star deduction. Otherwise, go and see for yourself.

The restaurant and beer garden are located on a hill with a great view over Bamberg. The roast pork with potato dumplings and sauerkraut was delicious. The beer specialties were very tasty. The beer garden is a lovely place to sit under the trees and enjoy your stay.

Just when you think Bamberg couldn't get any nicer, the Spezialbräu beer garden comes along. I'd just been to the Wilde Rose beer garden and now it's Spezialbräu. It's simply fantastic and right next to the Wilde Rose. The climb was totally worth it. Great food (Schäuferle), friendly, fast service, and the location is awesome with a view of Bamberg. I can only recommend this place!!!!!! I love Bamberg🥰😍

After years I visited the ‘Spezi’ Keller again. After a steep climb you experience your first beer as a reward. Beautiful view over Bamberg. We were kindly served by a nice lady. Delicious bratwursts with sauerkraut eaten!

The view is very nice, but the waiters are unfortunately incompetent and unaware of the menu. Food is ordered, then explained that it won't be available until later. The second order is exactly the same. Absolutely amateurish for a beer garden of this size. Drinks are constantly forgotten and ordered twice. My 4-year-old's toy shop is more organized!

Visited several times during our stay in Bamberg. Excellent service every time, friendly staff, and the food was always plentiful and delicious. There are always options for children, too. Highly recommended! Keep up the good work.

Great beer garden. Great beer. From here, you have a beautiful view of Bamberg. Of course, you have to earn it beforehand and walk quite a bit uphill. It's worth it, as there are several cellars up here. The food is also good here. They serve typical Bamberg dishes. The service is friendly and attentive. Bringing your dog is no problem.

A beautiful beer garden with a magnificent view of Bamberg. The food is typical of a beer garden, with excellent quality and reasonable prices. The owner is friendly and accommodating for larger groups. There's a covered area in case of bad weather.

The schnitzels were of varying crispiness, with the crispiest ones getting a 7 out of 10 and the less crispy ones getting a 6 out of 10. The potato salad earned an 8 out of 10. The side salad got a 6 out of 10, although the tomatoes were watery. The service was very friendly, but the manager was unfortunately rude on the phone.

Our visit to Spezi was a huge disappointment. The waitress felt like they were only responsible for certain tables, so our table was simply overlooked or pushed aside. The first round came fairly quickly, but reordering wasn't really possible. The online daily menu wasn't up to date, so we had to make a new selection. The Jägerschnitzel with Spätzle was very dry, and even the fresh mushrooms didn't help. The schnitzel with potato salad was of poor snack quality, and the Leberkäse and other dishes were no different. However, sitting for 45 minutes with an empty glass and no one coming to the cashier is a real disgrace. There are many lovely beer gardens in Bamberg with good service and cuisine, but unfortunately, we didn't find that here. The price of beer, by the way, was €4.30.

The beautiful view can't make up for the steep prices and extremely small portions. There are very few parking spaces. Unfortunately, they have waiters, and you're not allowed to bring your own drinks or food, which is why it's not even a beer hall by definition. Give it a wide berth.

We wanted to go out to dinner with 20 people and a reservation (no stag party). Upon arrival, the over-made-up, approximately 60-year-old waitress made three unprovoked, inappropriate remarks. She then came to the table with the trick question: "Who is the bride?" Because she would get a free drink. When a friend who happened to be getting married next year got in touch, we were very rudely thrown out. So, the Spezikeller discriminates against young people who go out to dinner with friends because someone in the group is getting married? I've never experienced anything so outrageous.

Nice location, but that was about it. The staff was very prejudiced and unfriendly towards groups of men. All in all, not recommended for male groups of more than five people.

Beautiful beer cellar, fantastic view, good selection of drinks and food, friendly staff. We also like to go there for a beer after work to round off the day pleasantly. Parking is sometimes difficult, though. Better to go together or even by bike, as the way home is usually downhill.

Beautiful ambiance, fast service, and truly excellent food. We had Schäuferla (a kind of pork shoulder). The meat was cooked to perfection, the sauce was truly excellent (no powder), and the sauerkraut was perfectly balanced. It was accompanied by a smoked beer.

Very unfriendly owner who unfortunately didn't want to give us a table despite there being many free seats. We were there as a group of 10 people to have a birthday dinner. Since we were wearing lederhosen, we were immediately labeled as a bachelor party and turned away without further conversation or explanation.

Incredibly rude! We came on a rainy day and were bullied because we had tilted the seating area so we didn't get our bottoms wet. So we chose a different seating area and used an existing wipe to dry it. This was met with absolute incomprehension by the staff. That's why we preferred to change the economy and leave our money where it is valued.
