The location is really really nice. The cellar also makes a good impression otherwise. Unfortunately, everything was destroyed by the very unfriendly service staff.

Very unfriendly owner who unfortunately didn't want to give us a table despite there being many free seats. We were there as a group of 10 people to have a birthday dinner. Since we were wearing lederhosen, we were immediately labeled as a bachelor party and turned away without further conversation or explanation.

Very nice beer garden with a great view. There is plenty of seating, but reservations are advisable. You can walk up from the old town or drive. There is free parking on site. The service staff is very friendly and attentive. The food tasted very good and there was enough on the plate.

Incredibly rude! We came on a rainy day and were bullied because we had tilted the seating area so we didn't get our bottoms wet. So we chose a different seating area and used an existing wipe to dry it. This was met with absolute incomprehension by the staff. That's why we preferred to change the economy and leave our money where it is valued.

We were rejected in a really unfriendly manner because we were a larger group and were seen as a bachelorette party. Too bad!

A very nice beer garden. You should reserve in advance to be sure of a place, otherwise if you wait a bit you will find a way to find a place. Definitely recommended

Unfortunately the ox cheeks were already sold out but the roast lamb was also excellent. The savoy cabbage was particularly great. Great view and nice beer garden.

The name is deceptive...the special cellar is not located below, but above You first have to “climb” the mountain. But you have a great view of the area. You can sit in the sun with a delicious smoked beer and simply enjoy. We didn't eat here, but there is good Franconian cuisine

There is more. The best thing is the view. The beer 🍻 is nothing to sneeze at either. Then head down into town for dinner.

Open at Easter, despite Monday. ☀️🤗🐇 A great view. Super cozy. Not too tight. Nice card, fair prices. Dumpling with gravy is great. Service at the table. Card and cash payment possible. Very polite service. Children's playground available, shady. Completely successful. 😊👍

Today we were guests at the “Spezial Keller” in Bamberg and sat outside in the beer garden. We received a very friendly welcome and our every wish was met in the truest sense of the word. A wonderful evening with a magnificent view over the city, great food and service that is second to none. Thank you Tobi, you are our hero 😊

It's recommended in almost every travel guide or article about Bamberg, of course the view of the city is great, but that's almost it. Some of the staff were unfriendly and rude. Food and drinks were okay - all in all, you can definitely do it.

Nice beer garden with a sensational view over Bamberg. Good traditional food with decent portions. Very attentive and funny waiter. Very easy to reach on foot from the old town. But: be sure to reserve a table with a good view of the cathedral and Bamberg.

Two beers and a shandy were all three only 0.4l full - well below the 0.5 calibration mark. It didn't seem like an accident either, as all three lenses were affected. I just find it annoying when you feel like you're being intentionally screwed over. Otherwise everything was fine. Friendly and awesome view.

Beautifully located with a great view of Bamberg. We were there in the afternoon and drank a beer and each ordered a pretzel. Beer and pretzels good. But the service… The owner had a lot of time for his granddaughter. But unfortunately there was no time to say thank you or please to the guests. The pretzels were slammed onto the table without words and without eye contact. Another guest asked if he could also sit outside. After the owner said yes, the guest said that everything was wet because of the rain. The answer from the host; Here's a rag. We waited in vain for a “goodbye” or “have a nice day”. But maybe it was also the lack of tips.

The climb was worth it for the view and the delicious food. The service was courteous.

Laid back place with a beer garden and a great view. Can have a Rauchbier while checking out Bamberg below. Had Bratwürste with sauerkraut and went really well together :) Really pretty.

I had a fantastic visit to the special cellar! The views were simply breathtaking and the home-made beer was delicious – a real highlight. The main courses were also excellently prepared and exceeded my expectations. Everything was of the highest standard and contributed to an unforgettable experience. I can only warmly recommend this beer garden!

All I can say is that it was perfect. Waiter super nice and on the ball. The food came incredibly quickly and everything was super fresh and delicious. Gladly again

Very quaint and very good food. Very nice outdoor area and very good views. Inside it's probably a typical beer restaurant with heavy, dark wooden furnishings. Great old pictures on the wall. Nevertheless, very lovingly and comfortably furnished. Children are also welcome here. Please note that bachelor parties are not allowed there. Staff very pleasant, we moved several times because it got colder outside when we sat. The service was absolutely competent and helpful when moving into the warm dining room. Even with larger numbers it is possible. Various types of beer, but also tea and wine are available.

One of the best Schäuferla I had so far and perfectly accompanied by their own smokey beer!

Unfortunately, it is very loud in the building because there are few sound-absorbing materials used. The food is ok, the currywurst tastes porky. In general the quality seems to be average. In terms of price, the whole thing is a little above what would be expected for the quality. The beer is a matter of taste, but good

Excellent atmosphere and beer with friendly service. Worth the visit as it's off the beaten track. Full of locals. Unfortunately it was dark and raining so we couldn't use the outside space.

Schäuferle was very tasty. Very tender meat and well seasoned. We got a good spot from where you have a great view of the cathedral. Service is in a great mood. Atmosphere very relaxed, perfect for relaxing and enjoying :)

Great historic inn with a great view of the city, located on one of Bamberg's seven hills. When the weather is nice, there is plenty of space outside in the beer garden, a large playground and digging area for (especially small) children. Very nice hospitality, fresh, good beer. We “only” tried the plucked (a type of Obazta) to eat, which was very tasty.

The food was okay, but not particularly great, the atmosphere is great and the place itself is worth a visit, maybe more for a beer ;)

After a beer tour at Schlenkerla, we went to the special cellar because our guide recommended the place to us. On the one hand, it is interesting to taste another smoked beer directly after the well-known Schlenkerla. And on the other hand, the special cellar has an incredibly beautiful view. Since we already had a reservation at another restaurant, we didn't eat anything, but "just" tasted the beers. The Esseb that was carried past us looked very good and smelled excellent. So, if you head up the hill, I can only warmly recommend stopping for a bike ride at the Spezial-Keller.

Somewhat far from the center, and in an elevated area, from there you can enjoy good views of the city and it has a very pleasant wooded area where the biergarten is set up. It seemed to me that most of the clientele were locals. Be careful, the kitchen closes soon!

I love it up here. You have a wonderful view of Bamberg. Reservations are almost recommended during peak times. We were lucky. Super delicious snack - the 3-cheese plate with fine pretzel and a measure of Russn.

Despite having enough free (really free) tables, we were sent away and treated very unkindly. Would give -stars if possible.

Unfriendly service, we were there for an hour in the afternoon and were pressured to drink just because each person (5) only ordered one large drink. We were asked 4 times if we wanted anything else. Plus we had to pay after 10 minutes ;) On top of that, very unfriendly and irritated because we don't leave tips for such service?

Had just beer here, all of them was excellent pils as well as light smoked lager (helles), unfortunately only these two were draft ( vom vass), shaufelle looked very good, anyway. Nice view on the city, spoiled by play ground for kids.

For me it is one of the best beer gardens I have visited. And I have already visited many.

Here too, super-friendly service and very tasty dishes. We had the half chicken and the roast pork and the Obazda as a starter. All highly recommended. In terms of beer, we found the wheat beer to be the best...

Payment can only be made with EC - and not with credit card. Since I registered this too late, everyone else I brought with me was no longer allowed to pay with card/EC cards. This was acknowledged with a: “I won’t let myself be fooled anymore” from the service staff. 1. Suggestion, if I want to block paying with the credit card, I can certainly do this on the device. Alternatively, I offer it, there should also be guests from abroad. 2. Suggestion, a bit nicer tone, and if there are problems, discuss them directly with the customer on site and not play power games with companions. We were 20 people on July 13th. at 2:30 p.m. and were served by a woman. In this case, some people's tips were saved, I think that goes without saying.
