A German restaurant located near Boutique Street, offering many places to eat inside! The decoration is quite unique. Some of the specialties of the meal are "German Pork Knuckle" and "Beer". The beer here does not taste very flat and is less bitter. I personally recommend ordering the German Pork Knuckle! The outer skin is fried very crispy, while the inner dolls retain a very juicy and tender texture. If you are walking around the boutique street of Hamburg, Germany, it is a great place to dine if you are hungry! Visitors from Asia or Taiwan must try the local German pork knuckle. When I first saw the Hofbräu Hamburg, I wasn't sure what to expect. I know Hofbräuhäuser as pleasant, rustic beer halls where you can enjoy hearty food and drinks. Here, the illuminated sign at the entrance told me otherwise. It looks more like an arcade or an Arabic snack bar. The food and drinks, however, are of the usual high quality. However, the sign had seriously spoiled our appetites.

I feel like a Bavarian Great fun and great food, everyone in Hamburg should stop by here...

It was a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, staff wasn't visible that often and you always had to wait until you could order again.

That was our first and therefore our last visit. Food was inedible, the meat was dry and tough, the schnitzels were pounded too flat so there was hardly any meat and more breading, the fried potatoes were just dripping with fat. The service was anything but good. We were really looking forward to the food and were only disappointed in the end two people had to vomit from the food

The food was very tasty and also recommended. Unfortunately, what really bothered us was the service. There was very little going on except for an English group of about 10 people who behaved very badly (loudly) but no one was interested. We had to wait about 15 minutes until we could place our order. Even after the meal, no service, no request for desserts, drinks, etc. The English group behaved like they were in a football stadium, so other guests didn't feel comfortable either, but unfortunately no one was interested.

Were there for the Super Bowl party. Service 10/10, very friendly and accommodating. Food was ok! You should probably explain the difference between chicken wings and drumsticks to the chef or the HBH and the ribs were just ok!

On February 15th, my friends and I came to the Hofbreuhaus to have a good time and a good time. But unfortunately the musicians were terrible, half of our group left the venue after half an hour, the other half stayed a little longer. I like Hofbräuhaus because of its special atmosphere. But I would never allow musicians like those present on stage today. The guests sang better and could be heard louder than these musicians. Also, the ladies room needs some changes, soap cans are very inconvenient and paper towels need to be installed so that everyone who touches these towels doesn't get wet. In addition, there is no hook on each door in the toilet where you can hang your handbag.

The men's toilets are a mess...does the operator take care of it? This is just annoying and not okay.

Unfortunately we couldn't communicate with the waitress in either German or English. Of course the order didn't work out either. The knuckle was really big, but unfortunately the meat was quite rubbery. The fried potatoes were okay.

Eating in the restaurant tonight was a very bad experience. When I arrived at the restaurant, my friend was already there, but I noticed that there was no chair at our table. After a while, a male waiter with glasses brought me a chair. I thanked him sincerely with a “thank you” and reached out to take the chair myself so he wouldn’t have to bother putting it at the table. But when he heard my thank you and saw my gesture, he completely ignored me without even making eye contact, which made me a little embarrassed. What was even more unpleasant was that I waited for a long time without a waiter coming to take my order. So I actively said “Hello” to the waiter, but he didn’t respond at all. So I said “Hello” again, whereupon he asked me very impatiently: “Are you screaming?” This made me very confused. I explained, "I'm not yelling, I just want to order." Then I asked him why he was being so rude, especially since he hadn't responded at all to my thank you before. His response was, “I heard.” That made me even more confused. I couldn't help but wonder if he had racist tendencies, but he denied this and said he was a foreigner himself. But whether it was intentional or not, his attitude and behavior were unpleasant. As a waiter, you should not treat customers with an accusatory tone or ask them if they are “yelling,” even if you are under psychological pressure or in a bad mood. Such service is really difficult to accept.

Sunday brunch is always worth it.

On December 14th, 2024 we wanted to go out for dinner at Hofbräuhaus Esplanade 6 in Hamburg. There was a reservation for 11 people. Unfortunately we were denied entry. The employee at the entry point noted: “only without children” There is no indication of this on the reservation portal. ADDENDUM to the owner's answer Hello Hofbräuhaus team Thank you for your reply. However, your answer is not true. We weren't there with a stroller and didn't turn down an alternative place. In fact, we weren't even allowed into the restaurant. It is disappointing and unacceptable that our experience is being misrepresented by you. The child-friendly restaurant “BURGERLICH GÄNSEMARKT” warmly welcomed us.

If you're in the mood for German food, then this is the place for you. If you're looking for a fancy restaurant, you should choose another place. The service is friendly. The beer is good and the portions are huge.

Delicious German food. The price is really great for the quality. The restaurant is right on the Alster and the interior is nice and large and well furnished. Would love to come back.

It's been many years since I've been to the Hofbräuhaus again to meet up with an old colleague. The reservation went extremely well and our wishes regarding where we wanted to sit were also taken into account. We had a very comfortable seat where we could chat a bit. The service was really top. However, I didn't find the food nearly as good as in the past. Instead of delicate, tasty Bavarian inn cuisine, which to me is like a canteen from a commercial kitchen. What particularly bothered me about my dish was that it was served in an iron pan and it gave off a very unpleasant iron taste to the potatoes. And all of this at a fairly high price for these dishes. You can get that better and sometimes cheaper elsewhere in Hamburg. Conclusion: I enjoy drinking and snacking there, I prefer eating somewhere else.

Exactly what you imagine by the name. The food is top. Classic Bavarian with a cool twist.

A little bit of Munich in Hamburg. Kind of out of place but still funny. Of course it doesn't come close to the original. The food is ok, but I don't think it's Bavarian or authentic enough. The service was very attentive and friendly. You can definitely do it.

Nice breakfast and service was great

This place runs like clockwork, friendly and super fast service. Typical south German kind of Oktoberfest set-up. Here is were digitalization works at its best. Once you order your drinks on the table, someone else has to bring it, as the server at the table can't get back fast enough. The service is very observant, even when the place is packed l, you never have to wait for the next round. Food is typical and traditional, everyone can find something to there liking.

Spectacular authentic German place, with spectacular food

We had dinner on January 19, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. and it was again super tasty. Only the side dish, i.e. the fried potatoes, was really very clear, which makes you wonder why people save so much on the cheapest meal. Can't understand! The staff was super friendly. After our objection when paying, he offered to get fried potatoes, but unfortunately we had already finished eating and had to leave. So it's best to point out right away that you shouldn't be so economical with the side dishes. 😉

Am 14.12.2024 wollten wir im Hamburger Hofbräuhaus Esplanade 6 abends essen gehen. Eine Reservierung für 11 Personen lag vor. Leider wurde uns der Einlass verwehrt. Der Mitarbeiter am Einlass-Punkt merkte an : "nur ohne Kinder" Auf dem Reservierungsportal gibt es keinen Hinweis darauf.

I love visiting Hofbrau. Has to be one my go to places to introduce my friends to German food and drinks. Definitely visiting again soon 🔥 Kaiserschmarnn and Spätzle ❤️❤️💯💯

Huge place, quiet during our visit. Food was tasty and our waitress very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the Schnitzel and potato soup with pretzel. The beer is excellent of course, glass of Sekt also very enjoyable

Hofbräuhaus atmosphere on the Alster. It's been a long time since we've been here for Sunday brunch and it was still... h as good as before. Weisswurst, bread and rolls, roasts, chicken, everything that makes a Bavarian inn. Very good price-performance ratio and nice service. We'll be back soon.

As always, it was packed...we were seated at another table because we hadn't made a reservation. The food was good and the price was right.

A very traditional German behalf. beerhale where 8 big 1 liter beers are served by waiters in traditional costumes. The food offerings are not long, but also quite traditional - pork knuckle, wursts and fries. The atmosphere allows you to dive into the German culture. There are hardly any tourists in the restaurant, mostly local German visitors. A huge number of tables in several separate areas, maybe sitting several hundred people altogether. The music is live performance of some old timer favorites, with some people singing and dancing by their tables. A very unique atmosphere and quite different from the more tourist oriented places. Highly recommended.

We come once a year with a larger group for Christmas for the big Bavarian brunch! And it's just great... The atmosphere is great, the staff is very nice, the selection of food is huge, there's something for everyone! The children can move around freely and don't bother anyone when they dance in front of the funny older gentleman at the keyboard... There is also a small children's corner. Always good!

The food was good and the service was very quick and friendly. I took the knuckle. This was good, but a little greasy here and there. Later it quickly became crowded and louder. If you don't have a problem with that, you're in good hands there.

It’s truly a wonderful Bavarian-style beer hall where you can experience the Bavarian atmosphere right in Hamburg. It’s a great place to visit, try different beers, and enjoy the lively atmosphere. However, if you’re looking for a quiet place to chat with your friends, it might not be the best option, as it’s quite noisy and occasionally features live music.

If you've ever been to a Hofbraü in Bavaria, this will be a familiar scene. Plenty of pork and rivers of beer. If this is your thing, make a reservation - even mid week - and go. Recommended for people who appreciate this kind of thing.

Hello everyone, I recently discovered the Hofbräu Haus in Hamburg with my father. It was recommended to me by friends and I was just thrilled. The food was well prepared, tasted very good and the quantity was very sufficient. The service was also very good, our waiter was very friendly, open and accommodating. We were checked on regularly and drinks and food were served very quickly. The ambience is beautiful, Bavarian, as you would expect in a Hofbräu house, and the layout of the rooms is very well done. We were in the screen area and wanted to watch football. There was also a dance floor, which was well attended and the band lifted the mood. I just thought it was wonderful to have something to eat there and spend the evening with my father with a few beers and good company. In particular, the people/visitors who come internationally from all regions (Sweden and Ireland at our table) led to great conversations, new experiences and fun drinking sessions. We drank a lot of shots and beers, especially with the Irish, and had an unforgettable evening. There were far more nationalities represented, and we also had very nice conversations with Italians behind our table. I give the 4 stars instead of 5 stars because the prices are not exorbitant, but you can expect to pay a little more money. This is not uncommon at Hofbrauhäuser, but it is something to keep in mind. Overall, I can only warmly recommend the Hofbräu Hamburg to everyone and will go there again soon. They also host events for Christmas, New Year's Eve and of course Oktoberfest. Especially on occasions like this it's worth it to get to know a lot of different people and have a lot of fun! *Caution*: The Hofbräu Hamburg is very well known and is usually fully booked. If you want a place at one of the tables, you should reserve well in advance. If you come alone or with a maximum of 3 people, you can always find a solution on site, even without a reservation, but this is not guaranteed and larger groups cannot be accommodated spontaneously at reserved tables.

Nuestra primera visita al "Hofbräuhaus Hamburg" fue también la última. Fuimos al restaurante en clima frío y lluvioso sin reserva. La bienvenida fue nórdica poco fría y no coincidía con el origen bávaro. Casi todas las mesas estaban reservadas y, sin embargo, el restaurante ni siquiera estaba lleno al 20%, incluso al final de nuestra estancia. A pesar de esto, la camarera fue incapaz de sentarnos en una mesa pequeña y en su lugar nos hizo buscar una mesa nosotros mismos sin tarjeta de reserva. Una experiencia extraña en un restaurante casi vacío! El camarero en nuestra área de mesa era muy relajado y agradable, tal como era de esperar. La comida (sopa de patatas / escalope de ternera con ensalada de patatas y arándanos / medio nudillo de cerdo con albóndigas) se sirvió de una sola vez, así que se suponía que debía comer la sopa como un entrante real junto con el nudillo de cerdo ... . confuso! El anfitrión se dio cuenta de esto y tomó la sopa de nuevo y la retiró de la factura. El nudillo de cerdo con albóndigas era muy sabroso, y la corteza crujiente particularmente grande era una delicia. El schnitzel de ternera grande, por otro lado, estaba totalmente seco, como si hubiera sido recalentado brevemente: ¡apenas se podía comer! La cerveza, un infierno típico de Múnich, era potable. La experiencia general de esta estancia fue extraña y no volveremos a ir aquí de nuevo.

Vino aquí en 3 días de 4 durante nuestra visita a Hamburgo, en parte debido a la comodidad (nuestro hotel estaba al lado), pero principalmente debido a la comida, bebidas y ambiente. El lugar siempre estaba muy ocupado, así que lo mejor es reservar una mesa con antelación para períodos de mucho trabajo, especialmente si es en un grupo grande. Dado lo ocupado que estaba, el personal de espera trabaja muy duro y merece una mención. Cuando fuimos a pedir una porción de nudillo de cerdo cada uno, nuestro camarero nos explicó que era más barato para nosotros simplemente pedir el nudillo de cerdo completo y obtener 2 platos para compartir que no tenía que decirnos que era agradable.

If you are a visitor looking for a full German food experience, this is a must. If you are celiac like me, we also have a wide range of gluten free options. Meat was excellent but I would like to highlight the quality and kindness of the service, specially Jana, a lovely worker who answered our multiple tourist-and-celiac questions with a smile.

I visited this restaurant as part of a Christmas party and overall I was very satisfied. The food was excellent - every dish tasted convincing and was of high quality. The prices are in the upper price segment, but are absolutely justified. The service was friendly, if a bit patchy in places, but you were always served after a short wait. Particularly noteworthy is the authentic ambience, which creates a cozy and atmospheric atmosphere. All in all, a great experience that I would happily recommend!

We definitely won't go here again. I had reserved a table for Saturday for 11 people. When we got there at the time we reserved, we were told that we couldn't get the table because we had CHILDREN with us. When we asked why we weren't allowed in with children, we were told that there was loud music and there were drunk people. 🤔 well, quite modest, as the children were hungry and cold. Then after an hour-long search (Saturday evening with 11 people) we found a warm restaurant where you can also come in with CHILDREN. We certainly won't be making reservations HERE again. My question: why are CHILDREN'S meals on the menu?

Short and sweet. My food was fine. However, I had a knuckle with a huge bone. My colleague next to me also had a knuckle twice the size of a smaller bone. Every animal is different but if you have a big bone I expect a bigger knuckle... Unfortunately, my colleagues' other dishes weren't as good. Meat dry. The service was very attentive and very friendly, but there were improvements there too. The ambience was no better than a cheap Oktoberfest tent. The acoustics were very loud and you could hardly have a conversation with the people sitting next to you

Cozy, rustic - it's for beer drinkers and people who don't want any frills

We went to the Hofbräuhaus for Sunday brunch. Everything about it such as the ambience, service staff, music was great, but unfortunately the quality of the food is extremely poor. Even a simple dish like Käsespätzle was totally dry. Unfortunately, we hardly found anything in the huge buffet that was really tasty. It's a shame because everything else was great.

Came here for a real German dining experience and got the portion of a giant pork knuckle. It was very tasty and also a really fun experience! The pork rind was SO FRESH and delicious. The potato dumplings and the cabbage slaw on the side were really nice too.

The food tasted fine, and we got some huge portions, so we couldn't eat it all. The service was slow, but it was also pretty crowded with people. The restaurant was full with happy people - there was a band, with lead too dancing and sing a long.

Recommend the German pork knuckles, the skin is very crispy and the portion is large💕 The beer is delicious and the store is very large with lots of seats, perfect for gatherings!
