Hatari in Hamburg

It was our first time here, and we ordered a burger and a schnitzel, both with fries. Unfortunately, the fries were extremely dry and became hard and inedible after a short time on the plate. The schnitzel was overcooked and much too dark around the edges. The burger was nothing special overall. For the quality offered, we found the prices too high. We were there on a Sunday around 3 pm – it was practically empty.

If you're looking for a really good meal, this is definitely the place to go. The schnitzel with fries is fantastic, it couldn't be better. The other dishes are also very tasty, of course... The staff is very friendly, and we were thoroughly satisfied – we'll definitely be back.

Here you'll find the best Käsespätzle in all of Hamburg. Pair it with a delicious Zwickel (a kind of bread roll) and your spirit will take flight. If you want to eat truly well and soothe your soul, this is the place to be.

Delicious food with large portions, reasonable prices, and friendly service.

We went there for the first time because we wanted to have tarte flambée and burgers. It's very cozy, artfully decorated, and (on a Sunday evening) was very busy. Some people were playing games, and children were able to paint. The food was very varied and delicious! We'd love to come back.

A very nice restaurant with excellent cuisine, serving all sorts of Palatinate specialties. Bratwurst, saumagen... Very authentic, in my opinion – I was born and raised in the Palatinate, and married to a Palatinate native. After 45 years in Hamburg, the Hatari is a wonderful anchor for both of our senses of home!

We were immediately greeted very warmly and escorted to our table. The food was very good, and the portions were generous. The roast beef is highly recommended. The service was also friendly and prompt. We'll definitely be back.

I highly recommend this restaurant. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, the food is delicious, and the restaurant is incredibly cozy. As a Bavarian, I feel almost at home there. Furthermore, the value for money is absolutely satisfactory. I'd be happy to come back and highly recommend this restaurant!

If you're a fan of Swabian cuisine, you can refresh your culinary memories here in the heart of Hamburg-Altona. Very large portions can easily overwhelm the stomachs of children or seniors. But the excellent Maultaschen (swabian pasta) imported from Swabia are worth a visit in themselves. The Kässpätzle (cheese spaetzle) with a generous side salad are also a clear reminder of the dish's origins.

It was my first time here. Friends loved it, so I thought I'd give it a try. No sooner said than done. Rustic, yet cozy, I like it. What I don't like is being ignored when I enter a restaurant. Four women were standing at the bar, one of whom was busy making drinks, the other three women were chatting. Only after an apology—I had reserved a table—was I noticed. Chewing gum, we were taken to a table, which had to be wiped down first. Okay, that can happen. We had to wait a good 15 minutes before we could place our order, and another 60 minutes until we received our food, and the place wasn't full. The food, however, was really good. I had the regular schnitzel with fries, and I was very satisfied. My companion's Indian dish was also really good. Conclusion: The food is really good, but the service could be improved a lot. Starting with attentiveness, friendliness, and perhaps a bit faster. I think it's a real shame; it was supposed to be a nice evening, but the unfriendliness and ignorance of the service staff spoiled it.

The service is friendly, the prices are absolutely reasonable for Hamburg, and my only feedback on the food is the Cordon Bleu: it was really good, definitely not frozen food.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We spontaneously stopped by late in the evening and received a warm welcome, even though the kitchen was already closed and the chefs were already cleaning. Nevertheless, they still prepared us a hot meal – a service that's not a given these days and which we greatly appreciated. The menu offers a lovely selection of classic home-style cooking, thankfully also with vegetarian options. Everything was fresh, down-to-earth, and very tasty. The ambiance is reminiscent of a cozy pub: rustic, welcoming, and uncomplicated – just right for a relaxing evening. The beer was also very good. An all-around successful visit that shows how hospitality and good food can be enjoyed even at short notice. A clear recommendation and a full five stars!

Hatari in Ottensen is a truly unique restaurant. The food is simply delicious, and the menu caters to all tastes, whether meat or vegetarian. The outdoor seating is also lovely in the summer, and the interior is very child-friendly.

The food is incredibly delicious, especially the shredded savoy cabbage in mushroom cream is an absolute must. The people are incredibly friendly and always strive to provide the best possible dining experience.

Really nice place and delicious food, but the service was overwhelmed and there was a long wait for the food. Probably unlucky but it made the whole evening a bit un-relaxing.

Actually a favorite and regular restaurant, but the last two visits were so subpar that unfortunately we can't come anymore. On the penultimate visit, the table was greasy and dirty and wasn't wiped, food came before the cutlery, for which we had to wait over 10 minutes, so our food was cold afterwards. The last time we were assigned the last cat table in front of the toilet and waited over an hour for food. The spaetzle was disgusting. Flat, muddy, indefinable mush. The beer we ordered didn't come, when we asked for the bill it was forgotten and instead a table next to us who had asked for us was charged straight away. We finally paid at the front and the gentlemen in front of us were offered a schnapps. We just the extremely high bill.

Great team, very hard working with high workload. We were there with two children and it was very child friendly with large coloring mats and pens which shortened the wait for food.

Burger patty smelled a bit and I've eaten much better burgers. There was also no question as to how it should be cooked. Way too many fries (just a big pile) and too heavily salted with fries seasoning.

The food is very tasty. There are large portions that I usually can't manage. Then they'll be happy to pack it up. The price-performance ratio is good. Even if we came spontaneously, there was still a place for us. But I recommend reserving a table.

We actually like going to Hatari. Unfortunately, things have gotten worse in recent years. You definitely have to have time/patience, but that's okay. But what really doesn't work is that the chef let out a burnt cordon bleu. It was really partly black and completely dried out inside. Something like that shouldn't happen. Instead of making a new one straight away, we waited to see whether we would let it go back... and the burger came out lukewarm. What a shame!

Delicious food and relaxed atmosphere.

Conclusion: Full, friendly, down-to-earth delicious. We always like to come back to Hatari. On our last visit it was, as always, very busy, but we were still able to get a table. The service took a little longer, probably due to the many full tables, but luckily we were able to pass the time by using the colored pencils that were quickly brought to the table to clean the white tablecloth (that's allowed). When the food was finally ordered, it came quickly, was warm and tasty. At the end there was a nightcap (non-alcoholic for the little ones too) on the house. Nice. We found the toilets clean. We paid in cash. Tip: The bratwurst (whether vegan or meat) is always a pleasure.

A recommendation for everyone who loves a relaxed environment with down-to-earth food!! Everything we ordered was very tasty. The vegan dish also tasted very good. A very friendly service rounded off our evening. We only gave 4 stars for “ambience” because we found it quite loud. But maybe that was part of it too!

Very child-friendly - the food is good 👍 fits!

I specifically made sure to order vegan food due to my allergy, but they brought me a non-vegan dish. When I pointed this out to the waiter, she responded with an irritated attitude, as if the mistake was mine. This lack of attention to dietary restrictions and the dismissive response from the staff were disappointing.

Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed...the menu sounds great & the selection is perfect so there is something for everyone. However, it felt like the kitchen was a bit overwhelmed...there were 5 of us and yes, it was a warm evening. But during the week...unfortunately it took a long time for the food to arrive & then it was almost cold. Basically the food was ok, but nothing more... You had the feeling that it had been sitting around for a while or that it was difficult to get everything ready at the same time. Unfortunately, a meal was also forgotten. But the staff was super friendly and they delivered it quickly. I thought it was a bit of a shame because I otherwise enjoyed being there, but somehow I have the feeling that the quality has deteriorated over time. Or we had a bad evening 🤷‍♀️

The food was really great!! But unfortunately it can also get very loud when the house is full. That's a personal preference, but I would come back for the food!

I've always enjoyed eating there, but this time it was a disaster. We waited at least 20 minutes for the drinks order to be taken. The food came with the wrong side dish, half of the order was forgotten, and no cutlery was brought to the table. The service constantly ignored us.

Having to order twice and then serving the wrong side dish after 90 minutes, wonderful. Cutlery was too small and it took 5 minutes to arrive after the food was served. Simply letting it be is uncomfortable, loud and lacks competence.

Went here again yesterday with three colleagues after work. Service was friendly as always. Special requests (cheese spaetzle as a side dish instead of fries or normal spaetzle) were noted but consistently ignored. But otherwise the food was delicious. Big minus point: the side salad with my sliced ​​meat looked as if it had spent the whole day on the plate covered in dressing. There were also some fries in it (my side dish was spaetzle!), which is why I assume that the salad moved from another plate to mine after it had previously gone back to the kitchen. That is not how it works. The waitress saw it that way too, but otherwise made no attempt to compensate in any way for this bad experience. Complaint management can also be taken a step further.

Good location and food is good for this price...!!! And big plates!! With much love... There are crayons for the children to grind on the table...🤗😁

Wow, I was there today and I'm very happy because the food was so delicious and the staff were so nice and friendly.

Actually a good, cozy restaurant that I enjoyed visiting. However, after having raw minced meat stuck under my burger bun as a pregnant person, I doubt the kitchen hygiene and no longer feel comfortable there.

The food was ok. But there was a really unpolite waitress serving us. At first we waited for them to come to us and give us a table. She saw us but waited about 10 minutes in the meanwhile she was talking to her freinds and laugh. Afterwards another waiter came and took our order. They brought the food pretty fast and the portions are big. At some point she started turning on candles She put candles on all the other tables except for us. I wonder why she treated some customers differently ! We will never go back there again.

Arrived shortly before the kitchen closed and still had a really delicious meal. The service asked again in the kitchen if it was possible. Thanks to the entire team. The schnitzel is super tender and already pounded thin. The braised beef was cooked extremely well, it falls apart in your mouth and the matching sauce goes with it (not a bag). I would also say the spaetzle is homemade, but if not, it is of great quality. The side salad is fresh with a delicious dressing. The schnitzel 18.20 and the braised meat 20.90 is a great price-performance ratio for this quality and portion size. We will be back definitely.

Cozy place to dine at! Despite the fact that the main dishes & sides are on the heavy side they are enjoyable & are presented decently. The service was outstanding, attentive & friendly. Well worth a visit!
