The ambiance and service are worthy of 5 stars. So far, we've been satisfied with the food, although there could be improvement. Today, unfortunately, I was more than disappointed. We had the expensive dish: venison medallions with string beans in bacon, hash browns, and chanterelle cream sauce. There were no string beans, but rather salted green beans mixed with bacon cubes. The cream sauce was a simple, tasteless roux. There was no mushroom flavor. The chanterelles were gritty. The so-called hash browns were like potato casserole cut out of a slab, deep-fried and ready-made, not hash browns. As an alternative, I chose the homemade bread dumpling. A rubber ball with no flavor. The venison medallion was bloody, slowly cooking. I had to discreetly spit out the tendons into the napkin. The sauce eventually became a bit of a flour sauce with bloody meat juices. A no-go. Heartburn at home. Too bad. We've always been satisfied so far.

A very nice restaurant. We were there for a family reunion and booked one of the smaller rooms, which even has its own terrace. The food was delicious, the staff was very friendly, and the location was beautiful!

We were greeted with the words: “Do us a favor and don’t come back” – I would recommend that to all potential guests.

Hello, I have been a guest in this restaurant for 30 years, we have always liked it, but be good to the host and you will also be a good guest, if you don't like something then it will be difficult, according to the motto you don't have to come back 😥

Unfortunately, I have to give my favorite place a really bad review… actually, not the place itself, but the owner, Frank Corell… I dared to order a schnitzel "to go" at the kiosk garden… after being extensively insulted for saying that it's only possible inside the restaurant (2 meters away…), I actually ordered it there… schnitzel with fried potatoes… and I also had to listen to the lecture about how there were two cash registers, etc. As a guest, I'm not interested if the employee just has to turn around to hand over the order. Unfortunately, after I complained about my order, the owner made it clear to me that he didn't care about the many, many years we spent there… What a shame ☹️

Good food but nothing special, great ambience outside, staff very courteous

We waited forever—20 minutes for drinks alone. Then another 40 minutes for the food. When we asked about it, the rather rude reply was that it was full and waiting times were normal. If that's normal, why don't they hire another server?! The food was only mediocre at high prices. But given the location, they can probably afford anything. In any case, we won't be coming back.

Excellent, with something for everyone. Portions are generous. €6 for a children's plate, and that portion would have been enough for me! The staff is very friendly, and you feel like you're in a family atmosphere. There's a large outdoor area. Ideal for a stopover on a bike tour or for a longer stay. We'll be back, full of appetite and friends!

One of the few restaurants serving German, seasonal cuisine. Its unique wooden construction allows for 125 seats inside and 80 on the terrace, so the food is prepared and there's quite a buzz when the place is full. A lovely summer terrace with coffee and cake behind the house. A separate snack bar outside. Make a reservation, and I'll order the food from the menu online. Everything goes quickly. This isn't a pub; they've calculated that tables will be booked multiple times. If you need a table for longer (birthday party, company party, etc.), please let us know when booking.

Our company outing took place on July 18, 2025. For the first time, I was part of the organizing team for a group of up to 32 people. Waldcafe Corell took the biggest burden off my shoulders: We only had to provide the final number of participants one day in advance. They arranged a special appointment beforehand to discuss all the details. The package was very attractive and fair, with great advice, and our special requests were accommodated beyond our expectations. We wanted to have brunch outside on the terrace, weather permitting, with a view of the natural surroundings and pony pasture. The weather was very changeable, so they had set up the table inside the evening before. On the day of the outing, they voluntarily moved everything outside for us, and when we arrived, everything was ready. I am so grateful for this unique family business!

My parents have been bringing me to Corell time and time again, and it's become a ritual to celebrate my birthday 🎂 there with a good meal. But we're there anyway, as the Niendorfer Gehege is also a great place for a stroll. You should make a reservation, though, as word has gotten around that the food there is very good and the service is excellent.

The food, as well as the coffee and cake selection, is very good, although there's no vegan cake selection! Not even a vegan cake. But plant-based milk is available for all coffee specialties.

Top-notch food, very high quality! A wide selection of dishes – something for everyone. Whether large or small groups, everything works out wonderfully (even when it's packed!). The idyllic location right next to the Niendorf enclosure is simply fantastic. And the kids can even go pony riding right next door. The icing on the cake: the super attentive and warm service – especially the lovely Elko: always there with a lot of heart and passion. In this restaurant, the consistent team is immediately noticeable – many employees have been with the company for years. That speaks highly of the management. For guests, this means well-coordinated service, consistently high quality, and a pleasant, personal atmosphere!

The staff is very friendly, the place is clean, and the food is delicious. The menu features wild meat, burgers, and homemade cakes. The place is ideal after a hike in the woods; it's an excellent choice for solo or group dining. Payments are available by cash or card.

A day-trip restaurant. Child-friendly, wheelchair-accessible, and dog-friendly. It's noisy but cozy, like a hiker's hut. Parking is available nearby and, with patience, some distance away. The surrounding Niendorfer Gehege is ideal for a stroll afterward.

We've been waiting for 20 minutes for service, it's not that busy, and people have even walked past us twice. It's a shame, it's no fun like this 😕

Sitting in the beer garden section of the Corell in nice weather and simply enjoying one of the truly impeccably and deliciously prepared dishes, gazing at the greenery, and simply switching off – that's a real quality of life. Yes, on weekends at lunchtime, it can be absolutely packed. Young families and walkers love it, too. The always busy kiosk section at the front of the restaurant alone is a testament to that. Inside, where it's rustically cozy, the selection in the cake display can be overwhelming on some days. Very tasty items. The game dishes are also impeccable. Anyone who can come by bike is well advised, because at rush hour, it becomes a real adventure trying to park their car here. I, for one, love it here, regardless of the lack of parking.

A lovely restaurant with a hearty, home-style menu. There's plenty of seating inside and outside. My highlight is the kiosk area. There you can get warm snacks and ice cream, as well as hot and cold drinks. Definitely recommended after a bike ride through the enclosure.

We were there for a family dinner. The selection of food and drinks was very good, and the staff was extremely friendly. The atmosphere was excellent. Ideal for walkers, as they offer a wide selection of coffee and cakes. In the evenings, you should usually reserve a table in advance, as you might otherwise have to wait. This restaurant is highly recommended.

I've been coming here since I was a child (about 35 years ago), and not much has changed—which is exactly what I appreciate and love about this place. It's incredibly cozy inside, and the sun terrace is great in the summer. My favorite, though, is the outdoor bar. Here, you can get ice cream, drinks, fries, potato salad, and much more to go. Perfect for a quick stop during a walk. I now bring my own child here, and I'm happy that she can relive the same childhood memories. I hope Cafe Corell stay for a long time!

The food is edible, but the service leaves much to be desired. Considering the price, I expected a higher standard. They serve frozen fries, which was a bit disappointing. However, the setting surrounded by the forest is a definite plus and adds to the experience.

It's a monopoly there. Almost everyone stops in for a drink after a long walk or to enjoy the weather. The cakes are delicious, but I find the drink prices particularly high. The menu is a bit outdated.

Small menu, great selection. Large portions, game (if you like), large scoops of ice cream, etc. Unfortunately, the seating is very cramped. Cutting meat and eating with a knife and fork is almost impossible. Reserving a table is advisable.

We love coming here. It opened in 1981 and has retained its charm. The food and cakes are so good that it's advisable to reserve a table in advance. It's always been busy when I've been there. The staff are attentive and helpful without being intrusive. They're friendly. We'll be happy to come back!

My favorite place to stop after a 🚴 tour through northwest Hamburg. Honest, delicious, and good food at reasonable prices. Mostly classic German dishes. The front area serves the usual fast-food dishes. It's an ideal spot in nice weather, especially with dogs. 🐶😊

We were here a year ago and because we liked it and the food was delicious, we were happy to come back. Unfortunately this time the food wasn't tasty at all. There were several of us - hardly anything tasted good. The food wasn't seasoned, super greasy and most of the vegetables probably came from a can. For the prices.. no thanks. You can certainly have coffee and cake there, but we won't be coming back for food. We were very disappointed.

Waldcafé Corell – a real insider tip in the middle of the countryside Nestled in the idyllic Niendorf enclosure, far from the hustle and bustle of the big city, lies the extremely charming Waldcafé Corell restaurant - a cozy place that is perfect for an enjoyable break in the middle of nature. What makes Corell special for me is the combination of genuine warmth in the service and honest, down-to-earth cuisine. No frills, no unnecessary frills - just really good food that makes you full and happy. Especially during the asparagus season, what is served here is what the season and the region have to offer - fresh, delicious and superbly prepared. The team? Simply great. Always friendly and attentive - just as you would hope, but unfortunately rarely experienced these days. Here you really feel seen and valued as a guest. By the time the sun falls through the trees and you're sitting on the terrace, you don't really want to leave anymore. For me, the Waldcafé Corell is a favorite place with soul and that's exactly why I keep coming back. Highly recommended.

Very nice coffee, it was our first time there, you can sit outside, the service was very nice and friendly, there was lemon cake and a nice coffee with milk, the order was processed super quickly, the prices and quality are 100% correct, we will be visiting more often now.👍

Very quaint and cozy. Delicious German cuisine, just right after a long walk. The main room was full, but the side room was just as beautiful!

We have always enjoyed being here. The food was never that cheap but always plentiful and tasty. Compared to last year we were disappointed. We were there with 9 people. The portions were good, but the quality and taste of the steak has deteriorated significantly, but the prices have increased. For example, a portion of fries served lightly browned costs 7 euros. This is usury. Is there a new chef? What hasn't changed is the service staff. Always trying hard, courteous, polite and very friendly.

Nice location but not exactly cheap

I was there for the first time, From the outside it looks like it's a snack bar but once you walk further it's worth the time away. Food top, location top, service top, service top, it's all there, we'll be back.

Such a nice and great breakfast

We ate a portion of fries and a piece of apple pie at the Waldcafé kiosk. The fries were suspiciously reminiscent of microwave fries and the apple pie was also ready-made. The price of €8.50 was absolutely unjustified, as you can also get freshly baked cakes elsewhere for that money.

Great birthday in the middle of the Niendorf enclosure in the forest cafe Corell. Not only a wonderful environment and cozy rooms but also the best home cooking served by attentive and friendly people. Whether indoors or outdoors - even in the best walking weather, almost every guest will find space to enjoy coffee with or without cake or even very fine tarts. It wasn't the last time we were here 😀

It was very crowded in the forest cafe. Hence the quite loud background noise. The coffee and cake tasted very good and the service was quick and friendly. Nice location for long (digestive) walks.

We were walking in the Niendorfer Gehege today and stopped in here. We received very friendly service. It's rustic in a charming way, set in a wooden house. We ate venison gulsach with red cabbage, pears, cranberries, and spaetzle for €22.90, and roast beef with fried potatoes, diced ham, and remoulade for €21.90. It was delicious. It's a hexagonal wooden house with a winter garden that serves German cuisine. We'll definitely be back. Afterward, we had a piece of marzipan cake made with poppy seeds. It was also really good. We paid about €67 for the cake and cappuccino. There's ample parking on site.

Located on the edge of the forest near the Niendorf enclosure, this café with parking is a good opportunity to take a break for a quick snack or a full meal. By the way, it also tastes very good with the house beer.

Definitely recommended, even if it is very crowded on a Sunday when the sun is shining and you have to wait a little longer until you are served. But the service staff are very friendly and keep calm. I give it 5 stars 😄

We are often in Cafe Corell in the summer but outside It's a shame because dogs aren't very welcome indoors. Because you would like to sit inside even when the weather is not good but since dogs are not allowed It's a shame, of course

The 5 Chicken Mc Nuggets get lost in the paper plate. The price of 5.40 euros with the non-existent service and the ambience is a joke. The fries are just as overpriced at 4.50, but they aren't quite as noticeably bad. We will avoid the snack bar in the future.

Super tasty 👍 had fried potatoes with roast beef, tartar sauce and a side salad. Small plate because I know how plentiful! Price justified. Very nice staff! I would love to come here again from Wacken

Cozy restaurant/café. We ordered the weekly changing special dish. Sauerbraten, dumplings, red cabbage and Kaiserschmarrn for dessert. Very tasty and plentiful at an absolutely fair price. Very attentive service.

Had punch & cappuccino outside because it was full at lunchtime - what a good sign in the middle of the week, but the seating could do with an upgrade, maybe that will happen automatically in the summer. Definitely worth it for the punch

First of all, the location, the ambience and the food are simply great. I would like to give this 5 stars. Also the service staff, super nice. Unfortunately the boss is absolutely unreasonable! Yesterday we were there (main course, dessert, 2 drinks each).. after paying, the boss suddenly came to the table and asked us to leave! There are other people waiting for the table and we don't have anything left and we have to clear the table now. It was 1520, we had reserved 1400 with no time limit. The service staff apologized for him, but it was so embarrassing and disturbing. I always love going there and now he has really spoiled it for me. There's a bad aftertaste... what a shame.
