Schweinske Altona is simply fantastic. Akinn is the best waiter I've ever met in Hamburg. Always highly motivated, friendly, fast—and he remembers his guests. The food is delicious, too.

We were here today and had pork and a baked potato with salmon. Excellent value for money. Service was fast and super friendly. The only thing that bothered us a bit was the noise level in the restaurant; it was packed, and the noise level was quite loud for us.

Never again Schweinske Ottensen: Where hospitality meets disrespect... I recently visited this Schweinske restaurant, which I had often visited before for lunch or to meet up with friends. When I arrived, at least two employees were outside, but it took about 10 minutes before I was served by a waiter. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing from the start. The waiter seemed not only disinterested but also visibly annoyed. His body language and facial expressions left no doubt that he had little joy in serving me. I had been looking forward to the lunch menu and expressed this. The waiter responded with an almost condescending look and said that he had to check if anything was available from the lunch menu. After a short while, he returned and informed me that there was nothing left; the lunch menu was completely sold out. When I said it was a shame and that I'd been looking forward to it, he responded with a barely disguised, derogatory comment: "WELL, THAT'S HOW IT IS. EITHER YOU HAVE SOMETHING ELSE OR YOU HAVE TO LEAVE." His tone was extremely rude and disrespectful, which left me completely perplexed. It wasn't just the way he spoke to me, but also the entire way he treated me that really bothered me. You could sense that he treated me with a certain disdain, and the comment, as well as his entire demeanor, suggested that he had a strong dislike for heterosexual guests. It was an uncomfortable feeling, as if I was less welcome in that moment simply because I didn't fit his desired customer image or because he wanted to get back out to his colleagues. This hostile attitude is absolutely unacceptable in the hospitality industry! I was truly speechless and disappointed. I've never experienced anything like this in my entire life—such disrespectful treatment of a paying guest. I immediately left the restaurant and have made it a point to NEVER ENTER it AGAIN. This restaurant was previously a regular meeting place for me, my schoolmates, and my work colleagues, but after this experience, we all decided to avoid this restaurant for good. It's unfortunate that such incidents leave such a negative impression on a restaurant in such a central location. A restaurant should not only offer good food, but also respectful and professional service. Unfortunately, neither was present in this case. This type of treatment of guests, based on prejudice and hostility, is completely unacceptable and means that I will never consider this restaurant again, nor any future visits there!

A wonderful restaurant that we love to return to. Friendly staff, affordable, and delicious, what more could you ask for? A bit more ambiance would be nice.

I sat outside for 20 minutes and no server came. They preferred to be served in the restaurant, but those who came in later were served in the shop. The server still has a lot to learn; in any case, two regulars stopped coming.

When I'm in Altona, I like to go to Schweinske. The food, drinks, and service are all great. What has bothered me for years, however, is the smell in the restrooms. It's always really unpleasant – like a mixture of urine, cleaning products, and air freshener. It really makes you feel nauseous after a good meal. I would feel much more comfortable if this could be remedied.

We try to eat there every time we're in Hamburg. It's always been great, and today was no different! We really enjoyed both the service and the food. Even with a small child, it's a great place to eat!

I went out to dinner with my dad today, and we shared the pork pan. It was really, really delicious and perfect for sharing! The waitress, Nina, was magical, and we had a wonderful evening.

The food came very quickly. But for the price, it's a shame. The bacon on top of the farmer's breakfast was cold... Paying also took a while. And it was also very rude that the waiters asked for extra cash, either I give them something myself, or not like that. The table outside wasn't wiped down properly either. The place wasn't full when I visited... Not again.

We were in Hamburg in July and knew this Schweinske from previous visits. So we came back here for dinner. We were not disappointed. It was incredibly delicious and everything was fresh. The service was very friendly and quick. The restrooms are incredibly clean. Unfortunately, the staff smokes on a balcony/garden entrance that opens onto the dining room, which is a bit annoying for us as non-smokers during unfavorable drafts. Nevertheless, it's always worth a visit.

Delicious schnitzel. Worth a visit.

We discovered Schweinske by chance and are delighted we did. The food is incredibly delicious, the selection is huge, and the prices are absolutely reasonable; there's something for everyone here. Many thanks to Akin for the outstanding service and for making our stay so incredibly pleasant.

We weren't there for dinner, so we can't comment on the food. We just wanted a drink, as the noticeboard said there was an Aperol happy hour. The menu included the obligatory Aperol and a passion fruit drink. We specifically asked the waitress if the passion fruit drink was included in the happy hour or just the regular one. The waitress said it was included too... When we wanted to pay, another waiter came over and said that only the regular one was included for €5.50, and the passion fruit drink wasn't included in the happy hour... We then told him that we had specifically asked a colleague... I have no idea how it's handled there, or whether each waiter sets their own prices, but really, everyone who works there should know what costs, when, and how much. The waitress could have just said that the other one wasn't included. But to first say it's included and then later make you pay the full price doesn't seem right. Hence only 2 stars.

Simply fantastic!!!! We visited Schweinske with over 30 people, received a warm welcome, and Akin served us excellently. The food was great. The service was excellent! Thank you for making everything so smooth and easy. We'll be back next year (with a reservation). Breakfast again today – just as perfect!

Very pleasant, cozy atmosphere. I immediately felt at home. The selection of food and drinks is sufficiently extensive and of high quality. The staff is very attentive and genuinely friendly, with an infectiously good mood, even though the Schweinske was busy and the service was accordingly busy. The breakfast is attractively presented and truly delicious! I would like a "coffee saturation" for breakfast. We will definitely be back!

Despite its location near the train station, this is a nice restaurant. There's also a good selection of vegetarian dishes, but the focus is on schnitzel and burgers. The service is fast and friendly.

Been there for the first time in a long time, the first waiter was absolutely fantastic. Attentive, no question, etc. Then, at the shift change, the second was totally rude, arrogant, and dismissive. He left his things lying around everywhere and basically kept pushing between the tables instead of walking what felt like 20cm around them. For the last order, I waited what felt like 15 minutes despite empty glasses and calling for attention, but was completely ignored!!! Sorry, but that's a no-go. If you don't feel like working, you shouldn't go.

I went for dinner during the week. The turkey schnitzel was very good, and overall, the ambiance and service were very satisfactory. I'd be happy to come back.

Review – Schweinske Restaurant Hamburg Ottensen / Altona – Schnitzel, Burger I ordered a Hamburg schnitzel with an extra egg at the Schweinske Restaurant in Hamburg Ottensen / Altona. Initially, I received exactly what I had ordered. However, as soon as I saw the plate, I noticed something unusual. The first bite confirmed my suspicions: no flavor, no seasoning at all – instead, a pervasive, oily dominance. Both the schnitzel and the egg were almost saturated with fat. The fried potatoes didn't appear fried either, but rather drenched in oil, which significantly detracted from the overall impression. I politely invited the waitress to my table and explained that the dish lacked any depth of flavor. At the same time, I made it clear that I have been a guest at Schweinske for many years – a visit is a regular part of every stay in Hamburg or Altona, as I have always been pleasantly surprised. I've been a regular at Schweinske in Altona for years – the Hamburg schnitzel with egg, in particular, was always a must for me. However, on my last visit, after a polite complaint (the dish was bland in flavor and very oily), I was brought a new plate – but the schnitzel and egg had clearly been reused from the returned plate (the cut parts were identical). While I received my money back without any problems – which I expressly acknowledge – from a hygiene perspective (e.g., Section 42 of the German Infection Protection Act (IfSG)), this is an absolute no-go. A returned dish may not simply be served again. I greatly appreciate Schweinske and hope this was an isolated incident. Precisely because I've always had good experiences, this incident should be seen as an opportunity to return to the usual standard. In short: A dish that has already been served and cut by a guest may not be served again, even in part. From a legal perspective, this practice contradicts the principles of food safety (§§42, 43 IfSG) as well as the duty of care under §823 BGB and §280 BGB. Even in light of the due diligence customary in the industry (§276 para. 2 BGB), such an approach is unacceptable. You don't spend money on arbitrary choices. When you go out to eat, you invest in enjoyment, trust, and reliability – not in uncertainty. No one wants to feel like they're sitting in front of a plate full of returns. I'm writing this review not out of anger, but out of responsibility – for myself and for other guests. Reviews aren't a place for sentiment, but for feedback. Only those who reflect honestly create room for improvement and protect those who take quality seriously. I don't read stars, I read substance. A sentence like "worst pizza of my life" means little to me. A sentence like "already cut schnitzel served again" means a lot, however. I hope Schweinske takes this incident seriously – as a reminder of its own standards, which it has often lived up to in the past. And I hope my feedback isn't seen as criticism, but rather as a reminder for everyone who wants to continue coming – myself included.

We finally went to Schweinske after a long time. The adults' expectations for the food weren't too high, but unfortunately, they weren't met. What's very positive is the price of the kids' meal. The €5 schnitzel and fries are really good. The kids were very happy overall and definitely want to go back to Schweinske. The service was very friendly.

Cozy restaurant with short wait times and friendly, humorous staff. Delicious, especially hearty food. Seemingly changing seasonal and weekly menus. Vegan/vegetarian alternatives, such as vegan schnitzel, are also available – and they're actually quite tasty and offer excellent value for money!

The food was really good, and I also liked the ambiance in the restaurant; it was stylish and inviting. Unfortunately, the entire visit was severely marred by the service. The waiter was rude from the start and repeatedly made subtle, mocking remarks that went well beyond casual friendliness. It seemed as if he was trying to be funny, but his comments were inappropriate and at times even offensive. In my opinion, such behavior is completely out of place in the restaurant industry and unfortunately completely overshadowed the otherwise positive impression. It's a shame, because the food and atmosphere deserved a better overall impression.

Wir wollten zu MAMMA MIA auf die Reeperbahn und vorher einen Happen essen. Eigentlich wurde ich schon 2 mal enttäuscht von Schweinske, doch "aller guten Dinge sind DREI". Ich wurde wieder enttäuscht. 40 Minuten Wartezeit auf das Essen, bei meinem Hinweis am Schluss, warum man uns nicht mit etwas Brot und einem Dip erfreuen hätte können, kam: "Brot ist alle." Bratkartoffeln rutschten auf dem Teller im Fett hin und her. Schnitzel war schon lauwarm. Keine Empfehlung von mir!*

We were there twice on the long weekend. Delicious Fast food and service, despite the place being full. If we lived in Hamburg, this would definitely be one of our favorite bars.

Better than expected. Have been here for years because you can sit outside and eat when the weather is great. Ordered a burger, the patty was cooked very tasty, a brioche bun, overall everything was very good. However, I would say the French fries could definitely be better quality. They are very floury inside.

It's commendable that there are also vegan alternatives, but unfortunately not or very rarely on the lunch menu.

Meals are very tasty, a sure place to try a Schnitzel if you are not yet deep into the small and traditional German restaurants. Beer is always cold and snacks to get together with it are plenty. Careful with some blind spots to sit if you are alone, as the service does not walk around the house often and you may have to go to the bar yourself to order.

I ordered an ice cream chocolate. Unfortunately, this ice chocolate has ice cubes and no solid ice ball in it and is therefore technically expensive for €6. But the atmosphere was nice.

Really delicious if you like meat. There are also vegan and vegetarian versions, but this is truly a paradise for meat lovers!

As a HH visitor, this was the morning stop to charge the batteries for the day and have a delicious breakfast. A funny pig's butt peeking out of the ceiling is a must-see. The rhubarb juice was delicious, something different. Strammen Max, rolls or fried eggs, all delicious. We had a lively, well-tattooed waitress, a ray of sunshine even on cloudy days.

I visit the Schweinske in Ottensen at regular intervals for lunch, especially to meet up with friends there. The prices are absolutely fair and affordable, the food is good. The ambience is really nice and the restaurant is not too crowded. The service was attentive and nice. The schnitzel was okay, the hunter's sauce wasn't that great. The Camembert Schnitzel was a laughing stock.. a small cheese from the packaging of a pack of 4. The coleslaw tasted like it was old...that felt confirmed about 20 minutes later when I had to vomit from it. In the toilet area there is a gentleman who doesn't let you go to the toilet, or who likes to decide whether you can go to the women's or men's toilet... as if you didn't know which one you should go to... We also had a little argument with him commenting "you look like a man, how am I supposed to know"... We're living behind the moon again now??!! Thanks ...

We were there spontaneously on a Saturday evening around 7 p.m. with 4 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 elementary school children and were given a suitable table. We were served well and our food didn't come after a long wait. The portions were very good, we were all absolutely full. The prices are very good, at least we are used to higher prices in southern Germany. That was already positive. Good German cuisine. We had, among other things, baked potatoes with pulled pork, children's meals (fries with chicken), salad, chicken bowl. On average it was around €10 for food and €4.5 for drinks per person. You can't complain about that. We can highly recommend it.

Why you are immediately greeted with YOU is a mystery to me. As soon as you sit down, you have to order a drink. When I'm told I don't know the menu and have to see what's available, the waitress responds by rolling her eyes... Currywurst, well, a bit tasteless. Cutlery carelessly thrown into a basket. No question whether it tasted good. It took 12 minutes before I could pay. Unfortunately I gave a tip, which was taken without THANKING. First visit and also last. Oh yes, the drink prices are just outrageous. Music selection was the best!

We had breakfast at Schweinske - again - this time in Altona or Ottensen. The restaurant is located in the former villa of the Reichsbahn president directly at Altona train station, is chic and cleanly furnished and the staff is friendly and attentive. There was a cheese mess for me and a cream cheese sandwich with cucumber, tomatoes and radishes for my wife. The cheese platter was good and tasty as usual, but the “Stulle” was awesome! The finest bread, the toppings fresh and crunchy, she raved about it all day long! Our waitress - a young lady with a friendly smile and attentive eyes - was apparently alone in the service (it was still early), but by no means overwhelmed, she had everything under control. The waiting time was perhaps a little longer than usual, but we didn't mind. We weren't in a hurry and the music in the background was good. We'd love to come back!
