Banks Bistro Levant in Hamburg

Delicious food and incredibly fast service – the dishes arrived in no time. A great option if you want to grab a quick bite before the theater. One minor drawback: The restrooms aren't located directly in the bistro.

I can't recommend this food at all. I ordered tortellini with carbonara sauce, and my wife ordered lasagna. For an Italian restaurant, the carbonara was a disgrace... I got a bland, unseasoned cream sauce. My wife's lasagna was hot on the outside but cold on the inside... it seems they just poured hot sauce over a cold lasagna. If she had told me that beforehand, I would have sent it back. And we paid a lot of money for this! I do have one positive thing to mention, though... the garlic butter with the bread as an appetizer was very tasty.

The food was delicious and arrived promptly. The ambiance could be improved, but for a bistro next to an event venue, it's perfectly acceptable. Making a reservation for events is definitely worthwhile ;-)

When paying, you should have enough cash on hand, even though card payments are accepted. We were asked to pay in cash instead. We don't know why. We didn't ask.

Surprisingly good! Like many others, my sweetheart and I were looking for a place to eat near the Harry Potter play before seeing it. Accordingly, our expectations weren't particularly high, but they were more than exceeded! Why? Well, from the outside, the restaurant might not look the most upscale, and inside, you could initially mistake it for a chic snack bar. But wait! Because they really do serve delicious food and good drinks at a fair price! What particularly impressed us: My girlfriend wanted a creamy sauce without the cream. I had the same sauce with cream. And she got her version without any problems, and it was exactly the same quality – fantastic flexibility! And there's more – they serve delicious bread to start, and other dishes we saw looked very appetizing. The ambiance is the only thing that might not get 5/5 stars – the tables are quite close together and the noise level is also considerable. Does that bother you? I think it's perfectly tolerable for the amount of time you spend there. And finally, we received our food very quickly, so we easily made it to the play on time. Very cool!

We ate at Banks Bistro last night before the theater and were completely satisfied. Friendly staff, excellent service, delicious pizza. The drinks arrived promptly. We didn't have to wait long for the pizza either. All in all, highly recommended. It's also advisable to reserve a table in advance.

We went there spontaneously, an hour before the performance of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" started. We got a table right away. The service was super fast, and the food arrived very quickly. So we were finished with everything within 30 minutes and could leave for the theater without any fuss. The food was delicious. Everything was perfect. :)

A very cozy bistro; it doesn't always have to be a huge place. I was really impressed by the cozy atmosphere, the order arrived very quickly, and the pizza was the best I've ever had in Hamburg. And the price is really good for a nice large pizza with plenty of toppings. I'll definitely be back.

We ate there before the Harry Potter movie. The pizzas are very tasty, but the pasta wasn't. I had penne Bolognese which unfortunately wasn't cooked through, and the sauce tasted like it came from a Maggi packet – so it didn't seem freshly made. The service was okay, but they seemed very focused on getting rid of customers quickly. The restaurant itself is cozy.

The Spaghetti Frutti di Mare dish was unfortunately missing the seafood... the toilet is also located outside, some distance from the restaurant.

We went there for dinner last night. Our pizza and pasta were okay. But the Wiener schnitzel was outrageous. €21.50 for a schnitzel straight from the freezer was outrageous.

So, for me, this is a proper restaurant, not a "snack bar." We felt very well looked after there, like a valued guest. The service was super friendly, and the food was delicious. TOP

Visited for the first time, and it was more by chance, as it was close to the hotel. Very friendly welcome. The selection of food is perfectly adequate. A description of the meat dishes would be helpful (chicken, beef, etc.), so you have to ask. The quality and price/performance ratio are good, in my opinion. As a bistro, it's the best I've visited so far.

The restaurant is located in the industrial area near the market halls. Next to it is the Harry Potter musical building. The interior looks very appealing. The service was also good. The downside is that the restroom is 40 meters away in another wing of the building. The food is good, but €15.90 for a Hawaiian pizza is a bit steep. I would have expected more ambiance.

The perfect location if you want to grab a bite to eat before watching Harry Potter. The price is okay, although I had to search for both the minced meat sauce and the mushrooms in the €17 pasta "de La Chef." I've had much better options. My wife's meat dish was far too underseasoned. Otherwise, the service was fast and friendly.

We were in Hamburg to see the Harry Potter Theater. Before we went, we wanted to go out to eat. While we were there, we looked on Maps to see what was nearby. We decided on Banks Bistro (an Italian restaurant, but more like a pizzeria). And it was OK! I found the food very tasty (saloppine an champignon). The atmosphere was good, and the staff were attentive and friendly! The restroom was a bit confusing (out of the restaurant, 40 meters down the street into another building), but otherwise OK. We'd go back!

I visited Bank's Bistro at Banksstraße 23 last week – and it was simply incredible! The Italian food was authentic, fresh, and full of flavor. The pasta was perfectly al dente, the sauces homemade and prepared with love. You can taste the quality and passion in every dish. Plus, a stylish ambiance and attentive, friendly service – it couldn't be better. A clear recommendation – I'll definitely be back!

We went to Banks Bistro today. The service was friendly, but the restaurant was very rushed and therefore unpleasant. Spaghetti Bolognese had very little minced meat and was extremely garlicky. The lasagna wasn't as tasty as we'd hoped and lacked the typical cheese crust.

A small restaurant that is aware that theatergoers come here. Excessive drink prices, friendly staff. The pizza is good but nothing special. 12.50 for a ham pizza is steep. 4.50 for 0.2 Coke is a disgrace.

We visited this bistro before our visit to the theater and were pleasantly surprised. The food was very good – the pizzas had a great base and were well-filled with the right toppings. The recommended homemade lemonade (lime and mint) was also excellent. I really enjoyed the espresso and grappa after the meal. The interior ambiance is pleasant, and the service was very friendly. We wouldn't have expected a restaurant of this quality and value for money in this location. An absolute recommendation...

This is a really cozy place with really nice people. The drinks are decently large, and the food is simply delicious. I would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance, as it gets quite busy before the show. If the weather is nice, you can also sit outside.

Highly recommended! The service was very friendly and accommodating. They asked us nicely if everything was OK and if we were enjoying it. The pizza was delicious! To pass the time while we waited, they gave us slices of bread with a delicious garlic dip. This could also be used for the pizza crust. The tiramisu for dessert was a dream. The bistro was beautifully decorated, with lots of pictures on the walls and an old pharmacy cabinet with drinks on it. We felt very comfortable!

The Bistro Banks at the Hamburg Wholesale Market is located directly in front of the entrance to the Harry Potter Theater and is therefore perfect for a quick bite to eat before a show – especially since the prices in the theater restaurant are quite high. I went there with my wife and we ordered a chicken salad and a prosciutto pizza. The salad was fresh and delicious; however, it could have been a bit more varied with a few more ingredients (e.g., tomatoes or cucumbers). The prosciutto pizza was very tasty and a good size for the price. Only the ham topping could have been a bit more generous. The portions are large enough to go into the show well-nourished. Overall, we were very satisfied with the food. The staff was friendly and attentive, and we felt well looked after. The value for money is also absolutely perfect. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting – ideal for anyone who wants to have a relaxing meal before heading to the theater. The cuisine is Italian 🍕 I definitely recommend a visit to Bistro Banks! We'll definitely be back the next time we're in the area.

I paid just under €40 for 13 tortellinis (exactly, so few that I counted), a small Margherita pizza and 2 Cola of 0.2L each Rip off and the food tastes like frozen food!

Everything tasted very tasty. Great value for money, very nice service, quick service, very good cuisine. We were there with 10 people and we were all very satisfied.

The price and performance ratio is absolutely unreasonable. The portion of noodles was a joke and the taste left a lot to be desired. For this reason only 1 star.
