The starters were very tasty! The main courses were basically good too, However, the chapati bread was a bit dry and hard. The service was very courteous and nice. At the end we even got a small dessert on the house.

A friend wanted to try something different to celebrate his birthday, and he definitely made the right decision by choosing this restaurant. First, I think the service was a bit slow, but this was compensated for by the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. The restaurant is quite simple but cozy and charming. As for the food, all of our dishes were exquisite beyond words. We started the meal with an interesting appetizer which consisted of deep-fried pieces of chicken with three different sauces, with the red one being the most captivating due to its sweet-spicy touch. I had a lamb dish which was basically diced lamb, rice, and eggplants. The lamb was extremely tender and perfectly cooked. The rice with nuts and orange was juicy, tasty, and tremendously well-seasoned. The eggplants with their tomato sauce provided the perfect balance to the dish. All of my friends also praised the uniqueness and flavors of their dishes, making this place an excellent choice for a perfect and delicious dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant!

If you haven’t had Afghan food before please do yourself a favour and visit this place, it’s amazing. It’s mostly meat but they do have vegetarian options.

Delicious Afghan food! In Herat there is a large selection of different Afghan dishes. The service is attentive and quick. The lamps are nice, but otherwise the ambience is rather random and sometimes a bit worn, which is a bit of a shame. Because the food is fantastic. It came to the table very nicely prepared. Everything was wonderfully seasoned. I would definitely visit the restaurant again, but then sit in the attractive outdoor area.

Sehr schönes kleines Restaurant.....wir haben uns gleich wohl gefühlt. Orientalische Kissen, orientiertalische Musik. Netter Service. Und dann das super leckere Essen. Zur Verkürzung der Wartezeit kam ein "kleiner Gruß aus der Küche", dann genossen wir die Vorspeisen und Hauptgerichte ..... sowohl vegetarisch als auch mit Lamm- oder Hähnchenfleisch. Für mich war der Reis mit Bitterorangenschale und Granatapfelkernen, dazu Aubergine, ein wahrer Genuss. Große Portionen, faires Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Where should I start?! Absolutely fantastic food from the starter to the main course and drinks! Service was absolutely friendly and polite. Small and rather intimate restaurant in a very quiet but well-connected corner of Munich.

It was the first time I ate Afghan cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised by the oriental taste. The place is small but charming, I had a reservation and ate very well. The wine and cocktail are also very good. We will come back.

I flew in from Barcelona into Munich and had the urge to try Afghani food. Like most of us, I did my google search and checked the rating and decided to go to Herat Restaurant. A smaller place close to my business meeting. I was the first customer for the evening dinner. After looking at the menu I tried the lamb kabab with salad. I must say that it was out of this world good. Gave my compliments to the proud owner - Homayon. A very nice, down to earth individual with a passion for great service and food for this restaurant. My vote - a must try when you are in Munich.

Very tasty food. However, we almost froze to death in the restaurant. Four men...! Other guests left their down jackets on. We sometimes put our winter jackets back on despite the thick wool sweater, but our feet got ice cold over time. A pity.

Extrem lecker, das Lammfleisch wirklich zart und der mit Kardamom gewürzte Reis ein Gedicht! Dazu sehr freundlicher Service und gemütliche Atmosphäre. Gutes Preis-/ Leistungsverhältnis. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

The Borani Kadu is very good. I also had a meat skewer with rice with bitter orange, I have never had such wonderful rice. The restaurant is very small, I recommend making a reservation.

Pedimos para compartir y los platos están deliciosos. Totalmente recomendables, la calidad de la comida, el sabor y el trato, hay que esperar un poco por los platos, pero la espera merece la pena.

Ich habe hier zum ersten Mal afghanisch gegessen und es war absolut super. Ich hab seit langer Zeit nicht mehr so lecker im Restaurant gegessen. Kann ich jedem empfehlen der mal was neues probieren will.

You are expecting a noble and shiny atmosphere? Do not go here. But if you like tasty homemade authentic food - this is a place for you! Was first time here today and will be definitely back again! Ich bin Afghanin und kann durchaus gut beurteilen, ob ein Restaurant gutes afghanisches Essen anbietet oder nicht. Wir waren auf einer bildungspolitischen Fahrt in München mit 15 Jugendlichen. Die Reservierung für so viele Leute hat auf Anhieb geklappt. Für uns würde draußen entsprechend ein langer Tisch gedeckt. Die Speisekarte ist sehr vielfältig und für jeden etwas dabei. Also auch für Veganer und Vegetarier. Der Chef mit seiner Familie höchstpersönlich sind anwesend und sehr freundlich. Sehr empfehlenswert!!!Vielen Dank für den schönen Abend. Unsere Jugendlichen waren sehr begeistert.

I just can't get enough of this place. Specially the Safran rice & the spinach choices. The grilled meat choices are also splendid. Very tender meat grilled to perfection. The pumpkin starter is a must try. How they make it I don't know, but it melts in the mouth.Thr dal soup is also tasty. They also have some authentic & neat black tea to top it off. Extremely tasty food & lovely service. Will definitely be visiting again 🙂

Das Restaurant wird eher unscheinbar von aussen, kann es aber ganz klar empfehlen. Freundliches Personal und das Essen hat grandios geschmeckt. Werde auf jeden Fall wieder hier her kommen.

Afghanisches Essen in München ist immer gut, aber das Herat legt sowohl beim Essen (hatte das Dopiasa-ein Traum) als auch bei der Lage in der schönen Kirchstraße und besonders bei der Freundlichkeit noch mal eine Schippe drauf...

Das war toll. Am besten hat mir die Kürbisvorspeise mit Rosenwasser gefallen. Sehr mutig, sehr überraschend. Auch die Dips zum Hauptgericht waren sehr überraschend. Der Fleischspieß mit Hühnchen saftig der Reis toll gewürzt. Den Punkt Abzug gibt es weil die Vorspeise nach dem Hauptgericht kam!
