Great little restaurant opposite the Hambel butcher's shop, which produces excellent meat and sausage products. We had the Saumagenrondell and were thrilled. The staff is also extremely friendly. You'll be happy to come back here.

We were traveling on our bikes and had already given up hope of finding a restaurant. “HAMBELS RESTAURANT” was a lovely experience for us!

In pleasantly air-conditioned rooms, a perfectly prepared beef salad with fried potatoes is served by super friendly and attentive service staff. The little greeting from the kitchen is just lovely!!

After making a reservation by telephone, an extremely friendly and cheerful service awaited us shortly before closing time. The food was excellent and we were thrilled by the different sausage variations. A successful end to the day, many thanks to the entire team for this positive experience.

Nice restaurant with pretty good service, and the best Saumagen I've ever eaten. The liver dumplings and the great bratwurst are also great (finally one that isn't dripping with fat). The “sweet Saumagen” as a great dessert is also worth a sin!

You can enjoy the relaxed and delicious specialties of the Hambel butcher shop and more in the restaurant opposite the butcher shop! We received a very friendly welcome and immediately felt at home. There is a great selection of Palatinate specialties, but also vegetarian dishes. The rump steak was excellently prepared and the fried potatoes and sauce were amazing. The prices are absolutely fair, and the selection of drinks is also great. We'll definitely be back soon!

Legendary traditional Palatinate cuisine from the cult butcher The Hambel butcher's shop in Wachenheim became world-famous thanks to former Chancellor Helmut Kohl's love for original Palatinate Saumagen. Kohl presented his favorite dish to international state guests in the Deidesheimer Hof restaurant, who tried this traditional dish with sometimes mixed feelings. The supplier was the traditional Wachenheim butcher shop Hambel, which is now run by Klaus Hambel. The products of the “Saumagenpapst” are offered daily in numerous restaurants in the area - his blood sausage has even made it into the restaurants of the Flönz metropolis of Cologne. In this family business, the main role in this family business is, in addition to the fresh and canned sausage produced by hand, still the pig's stomach, which at Hambels is made not only in the plastic casing but also in the pig's stomach or natural intestine. Every Friday from 10 a.m. the fresh sow stomachs in their characteristic shape are sold directly from the kettle to restaurateurs and private customers. Klaus Hambel has created many creative Saumagen recipes: Whether with veal truffles, asparagus, chestnuts, pistachios, apple-plum rum, feta or chanterelles. His Maultaschen with Saumagen filling are also sensational. Because the demand for his products continues unabated, he runs a small restaurant opposite the butcher shop in a stylishly renovated old town house, where you can try his specialties perfectly prepared by chef Thomas Siegle. We were lucky and, after a short-term reservation, we were able to enjoy wonderfully tasting veal truffle Saumagen on creamed savoy cabbage and sensationally delicious Saumagen-Maultäschle on cream cabbage. The cordon bleu with Saumagen cheese filling was also an exceptional delight. The prices in Hambels Restaurant are extremely affordable given the outstanding quality. Bet that after visiting the restaurant you will shop in the butcher shop opposite and take the meat and sausage products home with you? Canned sausage and black pudding are just as popular as black pudding with walnuts and brittle. Tip: If you don't want to travel to Wachenheim regularly to shop, you can order most of the cult butcher's specialties in the online shop.

We had always wanted to visit Hambel's restaurant. Since we were in the Palatinate again, we took the opportunity and reserved a table. The restaurant is normally equipped. We missed the typical Palatinate flair here. The menu included the usual Palatinate dishes. The bratwursts with vine cabbage we ordered were good and tasty. A second visit would be out of the question for us!!

Here you can find the original Saumagen, which former Chancellor Helmut Kohl regularly bought in the Hambel butcher shop opposite and served to his guests. Palatinate cultural history in its most beautiful form! The staff in the restaurant are very friendly, the rooms are meticulously clean and strict attention is paid to hygiene. Reservations by telephone are highly recommended as the restaurant is extremely well booked. We felt absolutely comfortable and will definitely come back to try the other specialties from the kitchen. The pig's stomach was just the beginning.

We were in Wachenheim and spontaneously went by Hambel. Thanks to a super nice waitress we got a table (after a short walk of half an hour)👍. I can't say whether it's the best Saumagen (I don't have enough comparison options) but it was absolutely delicious. Thank you for that 🙏♥️

Today I ate a super tasty Saumagen from the best Saumagen butcher, the many awards speak for themselves, and at a fair price ;-) The team was also great on the road, I'll be back soon, maybe then there's a reference to the Luca app disappeared from the bill... All in all great!

Very nice restaurant. It's not very big, so it's advisable to make a reservation. We had tapas, the Saumagenrondell and corn-fed chicken. Everything was very tasty and attractively presented. The service was very friendly and attentive. The prices are reasonable. We will definitely come back.

Everyone in and around Wachenheim knows the Hambel butcher's shop... opposite the nice restaurant where you can try the butcher's products. In the front area (entrance) you sit a little more at a distance, in the “inside” the ambience is nicer. You should make a reservation! It's always very busy here. Service staff try to fulfill all wishes. If it's full it can still take a while... nice and friendly, but also only two hands. The menu is - how could it be otherwise - very “meat-heavy”. Nevertheless, there are also vegetarian dishes. However, I was disappointed with the vaunted Saumagen... as always, a matter of taste... However, the “Hambels” is a recommendation for guests who want down-to-earth cuisine.

Nicht leicht zu finden und das Parken ist schwierig. Das ist aber die einzige Kritik die ich Hege. Wer das überwindet wird von einem sehr netten und aufmerksamen Personal in einem sehr schönen Restaurant mit echt köstlichen Speisen belohnt. Alles echt top.👍

Als erstes ist der absolut freundliche... harmonische...top Service zu erwähnen..... Sehr faire Preise für top Qualität beim Essen ...von vor-/ über Hauptspeisen bis hin zum Nachtisch.... Was ich noch verbessern würde ...ist das Anrichten auf dem Teller.. beim Cordon Bleu.. das lag so alleine da... Absolut zu empfehlen... So macht es an der Weinstraße.. Spass essen zu gehen....

So schmeckt die Pfalz 👍 Die Karte haben wir bestimmt schon rauf und runter gegessen und waren immer mehr als zufrieden. Dass die Produkte der hauseigenen Metzgerei spitze sind wissen wir seit Jahrzehnten…, dazu kommt jetzt das können von Thomas dem Küchenchef mit seinem kleinen Team, der seine schwäbischen Wurzeln nicht verheimlicht. Ganz toll was aus der kleinen Küche kommt. Ein Tip am Rande - die Portionen setzen schon einen guten Hunger voraus…. Die drei Damen im Service runden das positive Erlebnis ab. Freundlich, aber auch resolut mit Pfälzer Humor und immer gut drauf, vorallem wenn der Betze gewonnen hat. Gute Weine aus Wachenheim und der nahen Region.

Alles hat hervorragend geschmeckt. Ambiente modern pfälzisch, Service auf Zack, Viertel Grauburgunder ganz hervorragend und preislich sehr im grünen Bereich. Man fühlt sich wohl in diesem Lokal, das ist die Hauptsache. Da war ich nicht zum letzten Mal.

Wir kommen seit Jahren in das kleine gemütliche Restaurant und können die pfälzische Küche und die guten regionalen Weine nur empfehlen. Hier wird frisch und liebevoll gekocht und Sabine und Nicky bieten einen herzlichen und zuvorkommenden Service, bei dem man sich nur wohlfühlen kann. Selbstverständlich haben wir in der Metzgerei eingekauft, damit wir auch daheim etwas von diesen Köstlichkeiten genießen können. Bis bald und vielen Dank. :-)

Ein toller Abend! Sehr netter Service. Das Essen, Saumagen-Cordonbleu, ein echter Kracher! Außerdem auf dem Teller: Saumagen Maultaschen und Fleschknepp. Es gibt nix zu motzen! Alles sehr gut gemacht und freundlich serviert. Preisleistung auch super. Die Menschen in Wachenheim sind durchweg ein sehr freundliches, kontaktfreudiges und herzliches Völkchen. Super, Super, Super Kann ich nur empfehlen. Passt wirklich alles. Vom Essen bis zum Service. Sehr lecker und wirklich freundlicher Service. Beide Frauen wirklich toll und wir fühlten uns willkommen. Wir waren 6 Personen und selbst bei der Rechnung musste niemand sagen was er er hatte. Das nenne ich mal aufmerksam und das findet man selten. So macht Essen gehen noch mehr Spaß, wenn drum herum auch alles stimmt.

Hambel ist ja bekannt für seinen sehr guten Saumagen. Diverse Politiker und Promis haben dort schon gegessen. Gegenüber der Metzgerei ist das Restaurant. Sehr gemütlich, nicht zu groß, mit sehr netter Bedienung. Die Kartoffelsuppe mit Blutwurst war sehr gut. Ebenso das Saumagen-Rondell für 2 Personen, so konnten wir verschiedene Saumagen probieren.

Sehr freundliches Servicepersonal. Dazu noch sprachbegabt. Kommen öfter zum Essen und auch mit Freunden. Besuch aus Mexico, da mussten wir auf alle Fälle wieder hin. Waren begeistert.
