Gut Knittkuhle in Düsseldorf

Dogs are not allowed indoors - even though the restaurant is surrounded by greenery and would otherwise be perfect for a trip with a dog. Absolutely incomprehensible to us, especially since our dog is very well behaved and behaves calmly. This attitude is simply no longer appropriate. But good – if you can afford to exclude guests with dogs, you should do so.

The Gut Knittkuhle restaurant is located in the middle of the countryside. The large terrace invites you to linger. The nearby road is not a problem. Nice staff brings you delicious food and the cappuccino is good.

We had a very pleasant evening with a small group. Good service, good food, nice atmosphere.

To my regret I have to deduct two points. I knew the old Kniettkuhle estate and now with the new takeover. Unfortunately, the dishes and service have deteriorated compared to before. Service was OK, but nothing special that we actually know from before. We had fish, steak and schnitzel. The dishes were well prepared and well presented. The food also came quite quickly. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio does not reflect what would be served in terms of service and dishes. €28 for two small fish fillets. Me and my guests find what is not even half of a dorado fish very salty. Afterwards we tried the desserts and the whole thing continued in the dessert area. A standard brownie and a scoop of ice cream for €14? Well, I'll leave it at that and everyone can form their own opinion. The atmosphere is great and you can sit there for a long time and enjoy the view. Gut Kniettkuhle brings with it a very nice atmosphere because it is in the country. I'll just leave it as is whether that justifies the price... Shortcoming: At this price segment you can ask for much better service and dish as well as the portion of the dishes. We paid just under €170 for three people. Unfortunately it doesn't offer a healthy price performance. Conclusion: The atmosphere is great and there are very good parking options. There is enough space for the little ones, which is very good. Service is nice, like everywhere else, and the dishes are good. Unfortunately, the portions and the price performance are not at all in a healthy relationship. Therefore 2 points deducted. It's a shame for the developments at Gut Kniettkuhle. You know it from before, where it was really a TOP and secret address.

Please be sure to check the reviews for Gut Knittkuhle on Tripadvisor, as they are very different from those here on Google. The ambience is great, unfortunately the rest is simply lacking. You get far too small portions for horrendous prices, some of which are of poor quality. The service also leaves a lot to be desired. Overall, very disappointing value for money.

We hosted a corporate event there and were amazed by the excellent service and food. Great recommendation to anyone looking for something special.

My partner and I celebrated my birthday there with 21 guests. We had our own area and two delightful servers who were available exclusively for us. That motivated us to get things done properly because the drinks were always brought quickly. All of my guests didn't know this location, but they were thrilled by the food, the ambience and especially the service. Even towards the end, the service staff were still in a good mood and had a smile on their faces. We know how hard it is to find good staff, so we would like to highlight outstanding service. Of course, it was natural for us to say thank you with a big tip. We only saw the locations by chance while driving past and were very impressed with the service at the rehearsal dinner.

Big Fan meanwhile, not only but also as family. Special kids menu without being too much of a family style restaurant. Also as couple you will have a decent undisturbed evening . Great food, good value for money on the winelist. Outside area fantastic and for parents: playground next to the table in one corner. What else do you need? ☺️

Absolutely. Although everything is very large, the rooms have been cleverly divided so that you always sit in the right room size - depending on the number of people and the occasion. There is nothing wrong with the quality of the food, nor with the service. No highlights, but everything at a good, average level.

Actually a place with a nice atmosphere where you would like to spend an evening. Unfortunately the store doesn't keep what it promises. My impression: for the high prices, I found the food to be mediocre and the portions to be much too small. Starting bread is only available for an additional charge. But I don't understand why bread plates are set. My most negative point: unreasonably high drinks prices (the large bottle of water is only 0.5l and costs almost 7 EUR). My impression: thank you for nothing and definitely never again!

Been there for the first time in 20 years. Was expecting a “grandma restaurant”. The opposite was the case. Nice ambience. Very nice service and very good Wiener Schnitzel at a fair price. Overall it was rather cheap but everyone enjoyed it very much.

Wir waren gestern mit der Familie zu fünft zum Abendessen im Gut Knittkuhle. Die Location ist wunderschön, ein Mix aus modern und Scheunen-/Guts-Flair, alles ist top gepflegt. Der Service war sehr zuvorkommend, freundlich, schnell und aufmerksam, absolut perfekt. Die Auswahl der Speisen ist nicht riesig (die Karte hat zwei Seiten), dafür aber absolut exquisit, auch hier wieder ein Mix aus klassischen Gerichten, die einfach etwas anders interpretiert werden. Es findet sich wirklich für jeden Geschmack etwas. Die Portionen sind nicht so groß wie bspw. in einem Brauhaus, aber vollkommen ausreichend und die Qualität ist einfach Spitzenklasse. Absolut zu empfehlen!

Yesterday the five of us had dinner at Gut Knittkuhle with the family. The location is beautiful, a mix of modern and barn/estate flair, everything is well maintained. The service was very accommodating, friendly, fast and attentive, absolutely perfect. The selection of dishes is not huge (the menu has two pages), but it is absolutely exquisite, again a mix of classic dishes that are simply interpreted a little differently. There really is something for every taste. The portions are not as big as in a brewery, for example, but they are completely sufficient and the quality is simply top class. Absolutely recommended!

Your service staff should be on your hands. Everyone was so friendly, customer focused and attentive. Super! The atmosphere is really great, you feel really comfortable. The food was delicious, but for me personally it lacked a bit of pizzazz. Although everything was tasty, I wasn't impressed. I had the truffled pasta. A little more salt and pepper would have been good and the Parmesan was not as spicy as a good Parmesan would otherwise be. Overall, a rather neutral taste experience, unfortunately the price/performance doesn't quite match. But to mention it again, your service staff are just great!

Wir waren zu einer Trauerfeier in der Knittkuhle. Wenn auch der Anlass nicht schön war: Essen und Service waren hervorragend, Dank an die Netty, die sehr flexibel auf unser Wünsche reagierte und immer alles im Blick und im Griff hatte. Der Raum auf der ersten Etage ist für separate Feiern nur zu empfehlen.

Unfortunately our visit here was disappointing. The drinks were only served after we had already finished our meal - an absolute no-go. Overall, the service was inattentive and unprofessional. The food wasn't convincing either, as the quality clearly left something to be desired. Unfortunately we cannot recommend this restaurant.

Very nice atmosphere, especially in summer and warm days.

The food was impeccable, the kitchen was super professional. The service was not fully staffed due to illness and was unfortunately completely overwhelmed by the many guests. The waiting times were therefore very long, drinks were not brought and empty plates remained at the table. We would have liked the service staff to point out the situation in advance so that you could decide whether you wanted to stay for dinner or, if necessary, forgo an appetizer in order to shorten waiting times. Instead, an attempt was made to please everyone, which was not possible. Too bad. But the ambience and the food were so good that we will probably visit the restaurant again.

The food was really excellent and we were very impressed with the quality. Unfortunately we can't say the same about the service. We had to wait 45 minutes for two beers and two bottles of water, despite asking twice for 25 and 35 minutes. Unfortunately the order still didn't arrive and in the end there was no excuse. We thought that was a shame.

We were at a wedding (there were forty guests in total). The location is very nice and cozy. The food was ok. But the service was an absolute no-go. They were nice but rarely have I seen such inefficient waiters.

Addendum December 6th, 2024: Dear Gut Knittkuhle, I would like to give you honest feedback on my last visit, even if it's not easy for me. I have always been a big fan of your house and have enjoyed coming to you both privately and for business. Our last visit last night made me all the sadder. Unfortunately, we found that the service had deteriorated significantly. The food and drinks were placed on the table without much attention, and the clearing of the dishes wasn't optimal either. We often had to serve ourselves and were not asked if we would like anything else to drink. Overall, the warmth and attention that we otherwise valued so much from you was missing. It seemed as if the team was inexperienced and not sufficiently trained. I think that's a real shame, because your attentive and friendly service has always impressed and impressed us. I really hope that this situation improves soon, because I would hate to be forced to look for another favorite restaurant. Food delicious as always. We had a team meal for 9 people, a goose menu. Unfortunately a big minus for a barren side room with no decoration and no flair. The service took a lot of time to provide us with drinks, at least initially, but then improved as the evening progressed. It's a shame, it probably won't be a tradition every year...

I have known this location for many years, the restaurant has experienced ups and downs. It's currently excellent. It has been visually refreshed without losing its cozy and thoroughly rustic character. The service is very friendly and attentive. The food was really very good. I had saddle of venison with a delicious sauce and various creative side dishes. The meat was ultra-tender and cooked to perfection. The “blackheads” were also very happy. The prices are absolutely fine, venison goulash for €25, saddle of venison in this quality for €32, that's completely fine. The portions were fine for me, but if you need a lot you might want to add a starter.

Oh, oh.... das kommt nicht gut! Da wir in der näheren Umgebung des öfteren unsere Wochenenden verbringen, lag die Knittkuhle mit mittlerem Preis- und Leistungsniveau gerne auf unserem Weg. Wir hatten einen Tisch bestellt, waren also nicht unverhofft und trotzdem platziert worden. Mitten vor der Küche, an einem kleinen Zweiertisch, wurden wir platziert. Das hat den Vorteil, dass man auf Kasse und Küche schauen kann. Auf unsere Frage, wofür denn die kleinen, länglichen Teller seien, wurde uns gesagt, dass man Brot und Aufstrich als Einstieg bestellen kann, dies aber bezahlen sollte.Man hätte angeblich so viel weggeworfen und dies sei dem Foodwaist geschuldet. WOW: In den vergangenen Jahren, freuten wir uns regelmässig auf die nette Willkommensgeste und tranken dazu einen Apero, bis die Hauptspeise aufgetischt wurde. Mit 3,50 Euro ist diese Brotaufstrichvorspeise noch bestellbar und eine indirekte Preiserhöhung! Wir haben vorab ein Radler und einen Ap.Spritz. Die Kellner, völlig überfordert, fragen nicht noch einmal nach, ob man zum Hauptgang evtl. ein anderes Getränk wünscht. Das Essen kommt, relativ zeitnah, in gewohnter Qualität. Die Bandnudeln wären auf einem vorgewärmten Teller, länger essbar geblieben. Schmeckten wirklich gut und die Trüffel waren üppig aufgehobelt. Ebenso drei kleine Kalbsschnitzel auf dem Teller, waren gut, saftig und reichlich. Die Dessertkarte wurde geordert, kam aber nicht! Wir hätten ebenso gerne einen Mokka getrunken. Vom fehlenden Getränk beim Hauptgang ganz zu schweigen. Die Küche gibt ihr Bestest. Liebes Knittkuhle-Team. Ihr wollt 3.50 zusätzlich einnehmen, weil das Brot nicht mehr gratis kommt. Der Service ist derart unterirdisch, dass man ca. 14 Euro am Hauptgetränk liegen lässt, dazu die Flasche Wasser (ca. 7 Euro) und 2 x Dessert ca. 16 Euro. 2 x Mokka ca. 5 Euro. Macht zusammen ca. 42 Euronen, die liegen gelassen werden und die der Kunde gerne bezahlt hätte. Was treibt ein Team an, 3.50 zu sparen, aber 42 Euro nicht abzugreifen, wegen mangelndem Service. Wir gehen erst einmal nicht mehr dorthin, bis sich das überforderte Team neu aufgestellt hat. Ich habe nichts hinzugefügt und nichts weggelassen und brav bezahlt. Die Küche war gut, der Rest ist bedenklich. Das Restaurant NICHT überfüllt und in den Seitenzimmern noch Platz

The quality of the food was average at best. Price and performance were not in proportion. We then gave feedback online twice and received no response. So unfortunately no recommendation from us. Excellent wedding location. Organization and communication in advance was very good. All wishes were taken into account. On the day of the wedding, all agreements were implemented. The food was an a la cart menu and was very good. The service was quick and friendly. Otherwise everything was fine. The price was as discussed and fair. I say thank you and can only warmly recommend this location for events.

We were there on Monday and had the venison goulash and Wienerschnitzel! 😋 Before that we decided on bread with dip (very tasty) and the gin salmon (great)!! We had a really nice evening! Thank you for that! By the way, the portion could have been a little larger!!!!! 😤 The atmosphere is super nice and the staff is very friendly. However, the shift manager seemed a bit young and flippant to us. Funny, but maybe a little too flippant. That doesn't go well with this upscale atmosphere. We were able to handle it well and we had fun. The crème brûlée is still to be experienced!! It was unexpectedly flambéed with rum and tasted very good! 🤩🤩

Great wedding location for every season! I had a wedding ceremony here at the end of October 24 and was thrilled.

Unfortunately we were disappointed. Drinks were brought late. First we ordered a beer to satisfy our thirst. Afterwards, the food came straight away and we actually wanted to drink wine with it. While we were eating, the bread dip that we had actually ordered before the meal arrived. Only the dessert was very nice. As ordered with fireworks.

The service was a bit overloaded and could have been more attentive. But overall everything was good.

Wir waren an einem Sonntag zu einem Familienessen dort. Die Bedienung und die Küche waren überfordert; wohl weil wegen des schönen Wetters auch die Plätze auf der Terrasse stark belegt waren. Die Gänsekeulen waren trocken und faserig und die Beilagen lächerlich klein; es wurde kein Nachschlag angeboten; die fehlende Creme brulée wurde bei dem Servieren der Desserts mit der Bemerkung quittiert, die Zubereitung würde noch mindestens 30 min dauern. Espressos wurden einfach vergessen. Tisch und Atmosphäre waren - wie gewohnt - gut. Ich habe den Eindruck, dass sich das Restaurant qualitativ und preislich in die falsche Richtung entwickelt

I decided on a Wiener Schnitzel here. Classic veal with fries for €29 Unfortunately very disappointing, it came with, let's say, breaded cold cuts. About 1mm thick and not fried in butter and salted on the outside. If I hadn't been here with the whole family, I would have had the cook come and complain massively.

Unpleasant experience today. Very rude and little or no effort waiter. The food is overpriced, as are the drinks, soup and salad are served without bread. (this has to be purchased separately), 1/2 liter of water costs six euros. Portions very small. Overall it could be so nice because the decor and the building have a nice atmosphere. Too bad.

We decided to host our wedding celebration at Gut Knittkuhle and haven't regretted it for a minute. Of course, we had a “normal” meal there before and were thrilled. It's expensive but worth every cent. The ambience is also amazing. We always felt well looked after by the team and Yannik. Everyone was impressed with the food, service and the oasis. Thank you so much for making our day so special!!

Vienna plywood! Unfortunately, the Wiener Schnitzel that we ordered were all dry and hard as plywood. For 29 euros we expected better. Venison steak, 32 euros, tasted okay but the side dishes were unfortunately microscopic. Not nearly filling even for a woman. Atmosphere appealing, service polite but forgetful and inattentive. Actually a shame for guests and owners.

Beim letzten Mal waren wir super zufrieden und ich habe gerne 5 Punkte gegeben, das kann ich diesmal beim besten Willen nicht. Die Qualität des Essens war auch diesmal wieder einwandfrei und wurde durchweg von allen Gästen gelobt. Das führt letztlich zu den drei Punkten, auch wenn das Essen selbst 5 verdient gehabt hätte. Für den Service kann ich beim besten Willen nur 1 Punkt vergeben. Nicht, weil man unfreundlich gewesen wäre, nein, ganz und gar nicht. Das war in Ordnung. Aber es war fürchterlich unorganisiert. Die Begrüßung war gut, wir waren schnell am reservierten Tisch und es wurden auch schnell die Bestellungen für Getränke und das Essen aufgenommen. Wenn es so weitergegangen wäre: prima. Leider war das nicht der Fall. Es hat schon etwas länger gedauert, bis die Getränke geliefert wurden. Das Essen dauerte sehr sehr lange - und dann fehlte kommentarlos ein Essen. Um das zu reklamieren, mussten wir aber zweimal aktiv werden, weil wir nach Servieren des Essens mehr oder weniger komplett ignoriert wurden. Auf die zweite Reklamation hin wurde uns gesagt, das Fleisch sei beim Gang aus der Küche vom Teller gefallen und das Essen werde nun neu gemacht. Gut, unschön, kann passieren, aber das hätte man beim Servieren der anderen Gerichte erwähnen müssen. Und uns parallel fragen, ob man die anderen Essen so lange zurück halten soll oder ob getrenntes Servieren okay ist. Beides ist nicht passiert. Insgesamt wurden wir über den Abend von fünf verschiedenen Servicekräften bedient. An einem Tisch mit 5 Personen. Das halte ich organisatorisch für sehr sehr schlecht. Dann ist auch ziemlich klar, dass sich niemand so richtig verantwortlich fühlt und es kommunikativ drunter und drüber geht. Wie gesagt: freundlich waren sie alle, darüber kann ich mich nicht beschwerden. Ich habe auch Verständnis dafür, wenn Menschen Fehler machen. Aber so schlecht organisiert, das habe ich noch selten erlebt, auch in der Gastrokrise mit Personalmangel. Das ist sehr schade, denn das hält mich vorläufig von weiteren Besuchen ab.

There were three of us at Gut Knittkuhle and we had a total of 3 courses and different dishes. From fish to meat, everything was perfectly prepared and presented. Service was top, the wines and food were really on point, even though there was a wedding with 50 people taking place at the same time. Big compliments to the kitchen!!! We'll be back

Die Location ist eigentlich schon toll, ob Sommer draußen, oder Herbst/Winter gemütlich drinnen. Leider ist es im Barbereich sehr laut und zu hell. Wir waren diesmal recht enttäuscht. Die Vorspeisen kamen jeweils alle ohne Brot. Auch kein Gruß aus der Küche. Auf Nachfrage nach Brot, konnten wir dies extra gegen Aufpreis haben/bestellen. Das geht gar nicht. Zur Vorspeise gehört bitteschön einfach Brot dazu!!! Hauptspeisen waren von den Portionen her leider zu klein, leider wenig Beilage und wenig Sauce. Hat uns auch nichts vom Hocker gerissen, das wir wenigstens geschmacklich entschädigt wurden. Salz gehört schon in jeden Speise... Schade. Der Nachtisch "Apfelstrudel" war richtig winzig (knapp. 3x6 cm) und nur für den hohlen Zahn angedacht? Die Sahne hätte man sich sparen können. Dafür so viel Geld zu verlangen, ist traurig. So kann man leider keine Kunden gewinnen, oder behalten. Schade. Erstmal kein weiterer Besuch hier. Preis Leistung passt gar nicht.

Very tasty food and nice atmosphere. The waiters are very friendly, but unfortunately they quickly lose track even when the workload is low, so that an appetizer is forgotten or you are asked several times even though you have already ordered.

Original combination of old architecture and modern ambience, so you can sit forever and feel comfortable. The Rhenish sauerbraten was incredibly tender, the red cabbage was seasoned with cinnamon - and the wine was perfect with it. The service has a cheerful Rhenish nature, heart-refreshing. Happy to go back at any time.

The food was clearly underwhelming. The carpaccio was too thin and clearly prepared in advance to the point it was sticking to the plate and had to be scraped off it, instead of eaten normally. No fresh plates for the flatbread that we had to eat from the starter plate. The pumpkin risotto with scallops was bland and lacking of any flavor, other than the curry powder sprinkled on it; massive amount of risotto that made the scallops completely disappear. The service was slow and inattentive with three different waiters for a single meal. Having expressed disappointment at the end of the meal, not a single question was asked about the reasons - very unprofessional. Years ago this used to be a local simple and honest country restaurant, now it’s become a pretentious and poorly managed one, with very unbalanced price/quality ratio.

In January 2024, on the occasion of my birthday, I went to the “Gut Knittkuhle” country house for lunch with a total of 4 people for the first time. Everyone was absolutely thrilled and very satisfied. Ambience, food (price/performance) and service top. On my personal recommendation (including a table reservation!), we went there for dinner with a total of 8 people on one of the last hot Saturdays in September 2024. The result: unanimously disappointing and unfortunately no longer recommended. - Table allocation (outside) was completely unacceptable and in no way service-oriented, totally uncomfortable to sit on (massive, heavy high chairs), parasols were not opened upon request, supposedly all other seats were "reserved"! It couldn't have been that way, as we couldn't determine this after 3 hours there. - The entire food: Loveless, very small mini portions at overpriced prices. Partially dried-out, boiled food (meat and sauces). The fish smelled too strongly of "fish"... Special requests regarding vegetarian food and/or side dishes were only implemented with reluctance. - Service staff inattentive, listless, even though there was hardly anything to do... We always had to ask or ask for something independently. When issuing the invoice, we kindly pointed out the various grievances... There was no apology or perhaps at least a little goodie for the group as a farewell. CONCLUSION: More appearance than reality!

We celebrated our wedding here with 15 people in the oasis. The location is beautiful, the food was really tasty and the service was very friendly. We had a really great celebration. Thanks to the whole team <3

We sat outside in a beautiful summer garden. The prices are quite high and the audience sees itself as more “upmarket”. All in all it was fine. However, the fact that after 10 p.m. half of the kitchen and/or service team is outside making noise and smoking on the benches in front of the guests like at any train station pub is rather inappropriate. Then we left too.

I can only warmly recommend the Gut Knittkuhle restaurant! The atmosphere is simply fantastic and invites you to linger. The menu offers a delicious selection that includes both traditional and creative dishes. I would especially like to highlight our waiter, Krasen Sirakov. His service was exceptional! Krasen not only gave us excellent advice on choosing food and drinks, but also ensured that we felt completely at home with his friendly manner and attentive support. You can tell that he loves his work - he responds to individual requests and always has an open ear. The combination of delicious food and first-class service makes Gut Knittkuhle an unforgettable experience. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! Many thanks to Krasen and the entire team!

We were there as a group of 9 people and the restaurant had just opened, maybe a third of the restaurant was occupied but mostly everything was free. Apparently everything was reserved. Unfortunately we didn't have a reservation so we went to the farmer. This farmer was surprisingly good, had great cakes and vegetable dishes and sausages. The prices were also fair. At the end we went back to Gut Knittkuhl and everything was still empty. We've never experienced anything like that because we often eat in Oberkassel and medienhafen.

It's always nice to stop in there after a hike, but the service wasn't good. I won't go there on the weekend anymore. Better in the week

Absolutely rude staff. Unfriendly. You get a miserable table, ask for a better one and then get reprimanded. Sentences like “we won't be friends like that” from the waiter are not acceptable at all - and the request for 8 people not to get a table directly in front of the kitchen and with the open door was justified. The food was always mediocre, but the ambience was actually nice. It won't work like that. It's a shame actually. The customer should be the focus. And arguing with the customer afterwards isn't possible either.

The 2 stars are for the good service and the nice ambience, the rest get 0 stars. The food was really not good, watered down and tasteless. There were four of us and we were all very disappointed with our food. Above all, the price-performance ratio is simply not right here.

We took our daughter out last night and went to the really nice restaurant Gut Knittkuhle - and it was a great decision. We were immediately impressed by the great atmosphere. The restaurant is lovingly furnished and offers a beautiful view that invites you to linger. A special highlight is the view into the open kitchen, which gave us a great insight into how the dishes are prepared. We were impressed by the delicious food - everything is cooked here with love and quality. The friendly staff made our evening perfect. We felt completely comfortable and will definitely be happy to come back.

Top location. We come here often for dinner. The service is perfect, the food is delicious and the restaurant is beautifully and stylishly decorated. We also celebrated our wedding in a great extra room with our own terrace.

We have been guests at this restaurant a few times before and have been satisfied so far. After the positive experiences, we had now reserved the restaurant for a birthday with 13 people. Of course, as is often the case, you bring a birthday cake with you for after dinner. Unfortunately, we were informed that we would have to pay a fee of €3.50 per guest for the use of plates and cutlery. The restaurant is not exactly cheap and especially not when there are 13 people and then paying almost €50 on top for the use of plates and forks is really ridiculous. We canceled our reservation. This has never happened to us before and if it had, I would have expected it to happen at McDonalds but not at Gut Knittkuhle. In addition, the employee on the phone was unfortunately unfriendly and rude. A dream for every catering business. Unfortunately, that can no longer make good food good.
