Gut Knittkuhle in Düsseldorf

The service was a bit overloaded and could have been more attentive. But overall everything was good.

I decided on a Wiener Schnitzel here. Classic veal with fries for €29 Unfortunately very disappointing, it came with, let's say, breaded cold cuts. About 1mm thick and not fried in butter and salted on the outside. If I hadn't been here with the whole family, I would have had the cook come and complain massively.

Unpleasant experience today. Very rude and little or no effort waiter. The food is overpriced, as are the drinks, soup and salad are served without bread. (this has to be purchased separately), 1/2 liter of water costs six euros. Portions very small. Overall it could be so nice because the decor and the building have a nice atmosphere. Too bad.

We decided to host our wedding celebration at Gut Knittkuhle and haven't regretted it for a minute. Of course, we had a “normal” meal there before and were thrilled. It's expensive but worth every cent. The ambience is also amazing. We always felt well looked after by the team and Yannik. Everyone was impressed with the food, service and the oasis. Thank you so much for making our day so special!!

Vienna plywood! Unfortunately, the Wiener Schnitzel that we ordered were all dry and hard as plywood. For 29 euros we expected better. Venison steak, 32 euros, tasted okay but the side dishes were unfortunately microscopic. Not nearly filling even for a woman. Atmosphere appealing, service polite but forgetful and inattentive. Actually a shame for guests and owners.

There were three of us at Gut Knittkuhle and we had a total of 3 courses and different dishes. From fish to meat, everything was perfectly prepared and presented. Service was top, the wines and food were really on point, even though there was a wedding with 50 people taking place at the same time. Big compliments to the kitchen!!! We'll be back

Very tasty game dishes, nice service

Very expensive, Wiener Schnitzel is 2mm meat with 2cm BREADING. Bread before the meal has to be paid extra at €3.50.

Very tasty food and nice atmosphere. The waiters are very friendly, but unfortunately they quickly lose track even when the workload is low, so that an appetizer is forgotten or you are asked several times even though you have already ordered.

Original combination of old architecture and modern ambience, so you can sit forever and feel comfortable. The Rhenish sauerbraten was incredibly tender, the red cabbage was seasoned with cinnamon - and the wine was perfect with it. The service has a cheerful Rhenish nature, heart-refreshing. Happy to go back at any time.

In January 2024, on the occasion of my birthday, I went to the “Gut Knittkuhle” country house for lunch with a total of 4 people for the first time. Everyone was absolutely thrilled and very satisfied. Ambience, food (price/performance) and service top. On my personal recommendation (including a table reservation!), we went there for dinner with a total of 8 people on one of the last hot Saturdays in September 2024. The result: unanimously disappointing and unfortunately no longer recommended. - Table allocation (outside) was completely unacceptable and in no way service-oriented, totally uncomfortable to sit on (massive, heavy high chairs), parasols were not opened upon request, supposedly all other seats were "reserved"! It couldn't have been that way, as we couldn't determine this after 3 hours there. - The entire food: Loveless, very small mini portions at overpriced prices. Partially dried-out, boiled food (meat and sauces). The fish smelled too strongly of "fish"... Special requests regarding vegetarian food and/or side dishes were only implemented with reluctance. - Service staff inattentive, listless, even though there was hardly anything to do... We always had to ask or ask for something independently. When issuing the invoice, we kindly pointed out the various grievances... There was no apology or perhaps at least a little goodie for the group as a farewell. CONCLUSION: More appearance than reality!

The food was clearly underwhelming. The carpaccio was too thin and clearly prepared in advance to the point it was sticking to the plate and had to be scraped off it, instead of eaten normally. No fresh plates for the flatbread that we had to eat from the starter plate. The pumpkin risotto with scallops was bland and lacking of any flavor, other than the curry powder sprinkled on it; massive amount of risotto that made the scallops completely disappear. The service was slow and inattentive with three different waiters for a single meal. Having expressed disappointment at the end of the meal, not a single question was asked about the reasons - very unprofessional. Years ago this used to be a local simple and honest country restaurant, now it’s become a pretentious and poorly managed one, with very unbalanced price/quality ratio.

We celebrated our wedding here with 15 people in the oasis. The location is beautiful, the food was really tasty and the service was very friendly. We had a really great celebration. Thanks to the whole team <3

We sat outside in a beautiful summer garden. The prices are quite high and the audience sees itself as more “upmarket”. All in all it was fine. However, the fact that after 10 p.m. half of the kitchen and/or service team is outside making noise and smoking on the benches in front of the guests like at any train station pub is rather inappropriate. Then we left too.

I can only warmly recommend the Gut Knittkuhle restaurant! The atmosphere is simply fantastic and invites you to linger. The menu offers a delicious selection that includes both traditional and creative dishes. I would especially like to highlight our waiter, Krasen Sirakov. His service was exceptional! Krasen not only gave us excellent advice on choosing food and drinks, but also ensured that we felt completely at home with his friendly manner and attentive support. You can tell that he loves his work - he responds to individual requests and always has an open ear. The combination of delicious food and first-class service makes Gut Knittkuhle an unforgettable experience. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! Many thanks to Krasen and the entire team!

It's always nice to stop in there after a hike, but the service wasn't good. I won't go there on the weekend anymore. Better in the week

We were there as a group of 9 people and the restaurant had just opened, maybe a third of the restaurant was occupied but mostly everything was free. Apparently everything was reserved. Unfortunately we didn't have a reservation so we went to the farmer. This farmer was surprisingly good, had great cakes and vegetable dishes and sausages. The prices were also fair. At the end we went back to Gut Knittkuhl and everything was still empty. We've never experienced anything like that because we often eat in Oberkassel and medienhafen.

The food and ambience were good - the service was a bit passive.

Absolutely rude staff. Unfriendly. You get a miserable table, ask for a better one and then get reprimanded. Sentences like “we won't be friends like that” from the waiter are not acceptable at all - and the request for 8 people not to get a table directly in front of the kitchen and with the open door was justified. The food was always mediocre, but the ambience was actually nice. It won't work like that. It's a shame actually. The customer should be the focus. And arguing with the customer afterwards isn't possible either.

We took our daughter out last night and went to the really nice restaurant Gut Knittkuhle - and it was a great decision. We were immediately impressed by the great atmosphere. The restaurant is lovingly furnished and offers a beautiful view that invites you to linger. A special highlight is the view into the open kitchen, which gave us a great insight into how the dishes are prepared. We were impressed by the delicious food - everything is cooked here with love and quality. The friendly staff made our evening perfect. We felt completely comfortable and will definitely be happy to come back.

Top location. We come here often for dinner. The service is perfect, the food is delicious and the restaurant is beautifully and stylishly decorated. We also celebrated our wedding in a great extra room with our own terrace.

We have been guests at this restaurant a few times before and have been satisfied so far. After the positive experiences, we had now reserved the restaurant for a birthday with 13 people. Of course, as is often the case, you bring a birthday cake with you for after dinner. Unfortunately, we were informed that we would have to pay a fee of €3.50 per guest for the use of plates and cutlery. The restaurant is not exactly cheap and especially not when there are 13 people and then paying almost €50 on top for the use of plates and forks is really ridiculous. We canceled our reservation. This has never happened to us before and if it had, I would have expected it to happen at McDonalds but not at Gut Knittkuhle. In addition, the employee on the phone was unfortunately unfriendly and rude. A dream for every catering business. Unfortunately, that can no longer make good food good.

The menu was far too extensive and the prices were too small in relation to the food on the plate. Hardly any salad offerings and no vegetable dishes and no soups.

The hamburger was very tasty and freshly fried on the grill on the terrace. The clubby music that the DJ played created a pleasant atmosphere while eating and resting after the walk through the forests around Knittkuhl. Try it out yourself.

Although we have lived in Düsseldorf for a long time, we unfortunately only recently discovered the restaurant. The atmosphere is super nice. You can sit very comfortably both outside and inside. Wir haben in der Scheune unsere Silberhochzeit (mit einem Mittagessen für ca. 80 Personen) gefeiert. (Achtung: Mit mehr Personen wird es (zu) eng. Beachte: Mindestumsatz, hohe Getränkepauschale und Vorkasse in voller Höhe!) Das Ambiente in der Scheune ist wunderschön. Der Raum war auch sehr schön hergerichtet und eingedeckt. Der Service war gut, alle Mitarbeitenden waren zuvorkommend. Zur Begrüßung wurden die Gäste zunächst mit einem Glas Wasser versorgt - tricky, denn für den bestellten Apéritif (Apérol, Hugo) hatte dann kaum noch einer eine Hand frei. Das Essen blieb (insbes. angesichts des hohen Preises) hinter den Erwartungen zurück: Die Vorspeisen waren gut, der Hauptgang mittelmäßig, die Desserts wirklich unterirdisch. Das bestellte und vereinbarte Salatbuffet wurde sogar komplett vergessen. Wasser stand reichlich auf den Tischen, Wein wurde nur auf Nachfrage nachgeschenkt - tricky, denn es war ja eine Getränkepauschale vereinbart. Zu der gehörten auch Espresso, Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato etc. - tricky: den Gästen wurde aber eine Tasse Filterkaffee angeboten, Kaffeespezialitäten gab es dann nur auf Nachfrage. Die nachträgliche Reklamation des bezahlten, aber nicht gelieferten Salatbuffets wurde nicht akzeptiert. Der Salat sei ja da gewesen, es wäre nur vergessen worden, diesen auf dem Buffet bereitzustellen. Nach einer kurzen, im Ton beiderseits immer freundlichen Mail-Korrespondenz mit einer bemühten, aber nicht entscheidungskompeteten Mitarbeiterin wurde auf unsere wiederholten Mails und Nachfragen einfach gar nicht mehr reagiert (weder von der Leitung des Hauses noch von der Geschäftsführung der Betreibergesellschaft). Tricky: Es war ja bereits alles bezahlt (Vorkasse!) und das Risiko einer Klage unsererseits war gering. Kurzum: Unsere Goldhochzeit (und die Hochzeiten unserer Kinder) feiern wir woanders.

An sich eine Lappalie: ein Teil unseres Hauptgangs kam mit der Vorspeise nach sehr langer Wartezeit. Wir baten darum, die Beilage zur Hauptspeise mit dem Hauptgang wieder zu bekommen. Als Reaktion kam die Hauptspeise komplett 2 Min später in Begleitung des Restaurantleiters, der uns vorwarf, nicht freundlich mit den Servicekräften umzugehen. Ich möchte betonen, dass wir zu keinem Zeitpunkt eine Servicekraft (die sehr freundlich waren) persönlich angegriffen haben. Ich suchte dann abseits der Tisches das Gespräch mit dem Restaurantleiters, der einfach nur erwiderte, ich solle mich doch einfach setzen und essen oder bezahlen und gehen, “er bräuchte mich als Gast auch nicht”.

Beautiful location and the idea of ​​the outdoor grill and live DJ: simply great when the weather is nice. You can perhaps overlook the disorientation of the service staff, who are trying hard! What is annoying, however, are the tiny portions, with the chicken skewer at the top, which doesn't even qualify as a children's plate.

Despite a reservation, no table was provided. The portions are far too small for the price. Not enough staff.

We have been there several times and loved the atmosphere and the food. However, today we were very disappointed. The dishes ordered were simply modified: Example: The falafel with hummus were simply served with mayonnaise because hummus was “out” and the triplets with chanterelles, bacon and cherry tomatoes were simply served without tomatoes and bacon. As compensation we received espresso. A pity :-(

We went there spontaneously for lunch today. Due to the nice weather, we sat down at a table on the large sun terrace. A DJ played lounge music. There were grilled dishes from the outdoor kitchen. Super nice service team, very good selection of food and drinks, super delicious food... simply wonderful... a bit like being on vacation 👍☀️😋 always happy. Great food and a very nice atmosphere, but unfortunately the service is terrible. We were initially ignored and not served. The waiters were also incredibly rude and our order (whether food or drink) was forgotten. After asking 4 times, the waitress just brushed me off and said “I ordered!” I think that's a shame because the restaurant has great potential and the food tastes very good. The waiters just really need to change their attitude. You felt very uncomfortable!

One point for the playground! The menu at the terrace entrance and on the internet is different from the one on the table. Incredibly slow service, inattentive, no asking for new drinks/dessert, all the tables were cleared very, very late, especially in the playground area. The biggest disappointment is the size of the portions, especially the vegetarian main course (grilled peppers with couscous), side salads/potato salad far too small for the prices! More like a greeting from the kitchen. Salads are pickled/not fresh. The burger fell apart because the bun was too crispy. By the time we paid, we were hungry again. The faucet in the women's bathroom makes you wet from the toilet, spraying everything wet. Conclusion: Not again.

Leider sind in dem Restaurant keine Hunde erlaubt, was außerhalb der Sternegastronomie vollkommen ungewöhnlich ist. Unser Gastgeber hatte vergessen, uns darüber zu informieren, da wir aber aus Köln angereist sind, hatten wir ein Problem, das von Seiten der (jungen und vielleicht unerfahrenen?) Gastronomieleitung völlig ignoriert wurde. Wir habe einen kleinen, wohlerzogen, allergiefreien Hund, der als Therapiebegleithund ausgebildet ist und den wir dann leider im Auto unterbringen mussten, da es keinerlei Kompromissbereitschaft gab. Das hat uns leider keinen besonders schönen Nachmittag bereitet und unserem Gastgeber auch nicht, da er sich mehrfach bei uns dafür entschuldigt hat. So gewinnt man leider keine neuen Gäste für eine grundsätzlich schöne Location. Das Essen war gut und hätte 4 Sterne verdient, der eher überhebliche und kompromisslose Umgang mit den Gästen hat viel Luft nach oben. Das haben wir selten so erlebt.

On June 27th 2024 here... In a dignified setting, casually... A funeral service of my dear father-in-law and father... 😭♥️😭 Had lunch. The service, attentive, the food balanced and tasty. Everything around it, well organized. Toilets very clean. The little guests could also have fun in the playground. Lots of parking spaces available.

On June 14th I was a guest (including an entire wedding party) on the upper floor. The food was delicious, but the portions could have been a little larger. (But I have this problem often). In addition to the beautiful ambience, I would like to highlight the excellent work/service from Ari and I believe his name was Umut (there was a lot of alcohol involved). The two of them were consistently courteous, helpful and, above all, flexible. Wedding parties can certainly be stressful, but at no time did I notice any irritated nerves or anything like that. On the contrary. Until the end, the two of them were a strong team that I can only recommend to everyone. At this point, a big thank you again and hopefully see you soon!

Great ambience, good service, fine and fresh cuisine. The location on the outskirts of Düsseldorf is nice for excursions and, above all, long celebrations. The restaurant offers many options for small and large groups. And there is a separate playground for the children. There were six of us girls and the service was very friendly. We had a great evening.

Neuer Versuch in der schönen Location auf der Terrasse zu essen. Wir setzen uns an einen freien Tisch im Schatten. Der Restaurant Leiter kam nach einiger Zeit und forderte uns arrogant und unfreundlich auf, den Tisch zu verlassen, er sei reserviert. Dies war nicht zu erkennen. Es wurde uns kein anderer Tisch angeboten, außer einem Katzentisch. Eine absolute Unverschämtheit. Wir sind ohne Worte wieder gegangen und werden keinen neuen Versuch mehr starten. Sehr schade, weil es ein so schöner Ort ist.

Place of my childhood. The ultimate upscale inn. After closing and reopening several times, things have changed. Just a nice place. A little out of the way. And if you don't have incredibly high standards for food, that's perfectly fine. Well, you have higher standards, but the prices still remain reasonable. Just try. I think the vast majority will come back.

Unfortunately, it has decreased significantly in the last year. After many stops, Gut Knittkuhle had once again established itself as one of our favorite restaurants under the Meerbar management. With every visit we notice again and again that not only the service but also the quality drops significantly. A pity.

I was there for lunch. I liked the ambience, the service and the politeness of the waitress the most. That was really, really good, they were very friendly. Food is just as delicious too. I ate a hamburger and sweet potato fries and I liked them and maybe the hamburger meatball could have been fried a little more but that's just a matter of taste. I can definitely recommend again.

Delicious burgers, sauerbraten with plums, Königsberger meatballs of veal with beetroot, wild goulash, etc. The restaurant has a beautiful beer garden with a small children's playground. Beautifully and tastefully decorated inside. And it was up on Monday! Yippee!

Here, Keyless Go data of guests' cars parked in the parking spaces directly in front of them is cracked. In this way, valuables were stolen from my car without any visible signs of break-in. Employees and petty criminals are in cahoots. Unfortunately the management does not respond to emails...

We didn't have a reservation. That was probably a mistake. We just sat down because I had a hard time standing or walking for long due to an accident, but within a minute we were asked to get up with the statement ; it would be very full and you would have to check first to see if there was anything free at all. I can't say anything about the food, since we weren't allowed to wait while sitting, even though the table was free, we decided to leave the place as quickly as possible. Cozy rustic atmosphere with a good home-style menu with a lot to choose from. Good seating in the inner courtyard or the winding half-timbered house. Casual atmosphere. Friendly service, a classic country inn

The location is beautiful - no question, very cozy, you immediately feel at home. The service is friendly and professional. However, we waited over 45 minutes for the main course. They tried to sweeten our waiting time with a sorbet, but that ultimately doesn't change the fact that this is a no-go for a restaurant of this quality and price range. My Kikok corn chicken breast was disappointing as it was way too dry. They should have left the pan much earlier. My conclusion is therefore very mixed. I don't see any tendency to come back at the moment.

We have been regular guests in this rustic country inn for ages, which, under new management, also offers fine cuisine and, after renovation, has created a great atmosphere. We appreciate the ambience, the excellent cuisine and the extremely courteous service. In addition to all the other good spirits, we would particularly like to highlight Netti, who is always friendly, courteous and attentive. This restaurant around the corner is always a nice place for us to unwind for a moment.

We have met friends here several times, as the location means it is fairly easy to get to for everyone. Unfortunately, there were a number of defects each time, but this time to such an extent that I was forced to write a review, as unfortunately no positive development could be identified. When ordering drinks, we immediately ordered several water bottles and asked them to be exchanged when they were brought to the table because they were 0.5 liter bottles instead of 0.7 liter bottles as before. The answer to our request was that there would no longer be any larger bottles and that they had been removed from the range. The hammer came later with the bill, which cost 6.60 euros for 0.5 liters of water! That was the absolute lowlight for me, I really can't think of any other term than rip-off. About the food: When it came to the dishes, it was rather difficult for us to differentiate between starters and main courses; some main courses, such as the pike perch, were more of a children's portion. Furthermore, even though 4 out of 7 people ordered the same dish, it was not possible to get all the dishes to the table halfway hot. The problem happened every time!! So overall a very weak performance, which, if repeated, will mean that we would prefer to meet somewhere else in the future.

Unfortunately it was our first time eating there, but not the last time 😃!! We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for a wonderful evening on our wedding day. The team and the kitchen really looked after us very well! Everything was perfect for us 🤩 If quality food is important to you, this is the place for you. We had the scallop salad as a starter, the sauerbraten as a main course and, oh, see for yourself for dessert 😂 And above all, try it out. Everything was really delicious and fresh!!!

Highly overrated restaurant. €29 for a schnitzel that is too greasy without potatoes or fries, for example, is theft. Staff just let you sit and dishes are only partially served or additional dishes only arrived after 20 minutes while the non-listening staff pretends that it is all normal. Faded glory, too few staff for the number of guests and exorbitant prices. Toilets smelled and were really dirty.

Excellent food! I had dinner here on Sunday with my lovely wife. We had the venison goulash and the sauerbraten. Both were very tender and the side dishes (dumplings) were very tasty. The service was quick and friendly. We'll definitely be back.

We were guests at Gut Knittkuhl on May 1st. Unfortunately the service was poor. After the menu was brought to us, we sat for 30 minutes and waited for them to at least get the drinks. Unfortunately, this didn't happen. A guest at our neighboring table wanted to order a glass of wine after his ordered meal, but the waitress just said: sorry, that's not possible at the moment. We don't have any free capacity right now! The guest then ordered his bill. Unfortunately everything was very disorganized. A great house with a really nice outdoor terrace. Service disaster

Beautiful, large beer garden directly at the Knittkuhle with a playground for children. Even though it wasn't busy, I had to go into the restaurant to find a waiter. The rhubarb spritzer was still tasty.

Great location with poor service and a menu that reads better than what is served. We were there with friends. The card reads really well, so of course we were already paying the prices for it. We had to wait an hour for our food. Meanwhile, after 30 minutes, two other guests were not very kindly sent away from a table of 6. This is ultimately for 6 people. Logical. During our two-hour stay, none of the two tables for 6 were occupied. Other guests asked several times if they had forgotten them. After receiving the food, we immediately asked for the bill. Finally, we noticed that our son had lost his hat. Of course no one was available and so picking up the hat was definitely my last visit. Vll. We simply had a bad day with the kitchen and the service. At least I hope so.

We were in this wonderful country inn today. This time the service was very inattentive. Other guests were given preferential treatment. Furthermore, we were made to wait 45 minutes for our food. It's a shame, we haven't had much to complain about so far.

The Gut Knittkuhle restaurant is a fantastic place on the outskirts of Düsseldorf. As soon as you enter, a great, charming atmosphere is exuded. The service was very attentive from the moment you entered the restaurant to the moment you left it. The menu is manageable and offers something for everyone. The dishes are beautifully presented and I really enjoyed my choice of tuna tata and salad with mozzarella. There is a nice playground next to the building 🛝

Were there for dinner. And we can already say that we would love to come back. The ambience, food service were excellent. There is something for both vegetarians and meat lovers.

You drive up the mountain for what feels like an hour and the door says “no dogs”. But inside there are small children who scream and cause more chaos than the worst pet. Sorry, I have no understanding of house rules or not...

Very chic, great restaurant! The food tasted fantastic, especially the bread on the side was a dream. The ambience was nice, unfortunately the noise level is a bit loud due to the nature of the construction, and we smelled a lot of grease when we got home, as what was being fried in the kitchen carried a lot into the dining room. Nevertheless, the restaurant is recommended!

I would definitely recommend the restaurant. My menu consisted of tuna tartare as a starter, beef fillet as a main course and tiramisu for dessert. Everything was delicious. The atmosphere was both rustic and modern. The service was quick and attentive.
