We stumbled upon this restaurant on the outskirts of the city's historic center by chance, and we couldn't have made a better choice. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the staff is extremely kind and helpful. As for the food, we ate really well and drank even better. On a side note, the staff speaks fluent English, and the restaurant is elegantly furnished. It was definitely the city's culinary surprise for us, and I highly recommend it to anyone traveling in the area.

I had schnitzel with spaetzle and gravy. The spaetzle tasted like water. The roast gravy tasted like herb water, and so did the cream sauce… Unfortunately, I won't be back. The service and beer were okay.

We had dinner here this evening. The service was outstanding. The wait staff were so friendly and welcoming. Outstanding. I had the Snitzel with a horseradish sauce and it was very good. Great beer from a local brewery in Freiburg. Really cozy atmosphere and decor. We loved our visit and again, the service here was wonderful. Highly recommend for local German Cuisine.

The restaurant is located in a somewhat quieter area not far from the old town. It creates a pleasant atmosphere, and even though the decor is a bit "old-fashioned," it only makes it more inviting.

Very nice inn a little way outside the old town. Lovely, quaint ambiance. Super friendly and fast service. Large selection of drinks and several beers on tap. It was busy during the week, too. So reserve a table quickly ;-) The food was okay, but I personally wasn't as impressed as the rest. I had schnitzel with spaetzle. The schnitzels are prepared fresh in the kitchen, and you can hear them. But they were perhaps cooked a bit too long for my taste. I would have liked a bit more sauce and a bit thicker. And I added a bit of salt to the spaetzle. So, not really a criticism, more my personal taste. But I would still go back anytime.

Our visit was great overall. The food was excellent, the drinks arrived quickly, and all the servers were friendly and courteous. Unfortunately (hence only one star), the owner of this restaurant got increasingly drunk. He was apparently there for personal reasons and had a bit too much to drink. As a result, he pushed the staff around and shouted at them in front of the guests. A friendly employee tried to talk to him calmly, but the owner wouldn't calm down. Finally, he shouted at us and the other guests to leave the restaurant immediately, even though we still had full drinks. Unfortunately, this is completely disrespectful and rude behavior that is unacceptable for a restaurateur. I hope the employees find something new quickly.

The old inn has a charming feel. The food is still served like home-style cooking. For example, roast pork with dumplings and a large portion of red cabbage, potato pancakes with apple compote, or spaetzle served with or without bacon for vegetarians. The prices are reasonable and not excessive. You can also order smaller portions of certain dishes.

Even though there were hardly any customers, it took far too long from ordering to paying. They barely bothered us; there were six of us, and we were a nuisance to the restaurant. The food was also only averagely tasty. Conclusion: better to find a nearby pizzeria than to go there.

I still have hope, but I don't think it's going to work out anymore. It used to be really good and full here, but that was a long time ago. Now I get a check-up once a year. It's consistently at a standard level. What a shame!!!

Sunday evening, a full house, the menus were served immediately. It took 15 minutes for our drink and food orders to be taken. Both came very quickly. We sat for a long time in front of our empty plates. By then, only a quarter of the tables were occupied. The three employees were busy behind the counter. No one looked up. Only 15 guests remained in the restaurant. Wave, wave, wave. Then someone looked at us, and we were able to ask for the bill. What a shame, really. The food was very large portions, the pumpkin risotto had a great bite, but was unfortunately overseasoned, and the wine wasn't cooked enough. The potato salad consisted of 50% uncut boiled potatoes. They could definitely do better. The cordon bleu was drowning in onion juice. What a shame! Spätzle was delicious, and the tarte flambée was delicious.

The ambiance is nice, the service was good, but the veal schnitzel wasn't impressive. It was tough, the sauce tasted like a packet of gravy, and the fries were too salty. It just wasn't to our taste.

The inn impresses with its friendly and courteous staff. The ambience is rustic and designed in an unusual way - really an eye-catcher. We ate asparagus with schnitzel and once with rump steak. Both were perfectly prepared. The taste of the food was excellent – ​​a real treat for the palate. The price-performance ratio is absolutely right here. Unfortunately, I didn't finish the steak in the end, which wasn't well received by the staff - I'm sorry about that!🥰 A real insider tip for everyone who appreciates a special flair. If I lived nearby, I would be here regularly.

It was worth walking half an hour here from the crowded old town! Everything was just right for us! Good service, delicious food and cold beer 🍺 There was also a water bowl for the dog. What was particularly pleasant was the hint that we can still order from the lunch menu at 10 to 4 if we hurry up and that the sauce for my schnitzel with spaetzle came in a separate jar and wasn't already made over it! Great job, we'll be back when we're in Freiburg!

I used to always love coming here. I find the atmosphere very rustic. The young man who served us was very nice. An older, long-haired man was very unfriendly. The quality of the food has really declined. Spaetzle was ok, I didn't find the roast pork tasty. The sauce was also very bland. But I found the salad very tasty. Would give it a 4 out of 10.

Although it was very full, a table was organized for us and we were served very quickly and received our food after an acceptable waiting time. The staff was very friendly. The food was well prepared and tasted delicious. In my opinion, the ratio between meat and side dish was wrong. For 18.90 there were just two Maultaschen, the rest of the plate was filled with potato salad, which I think is a bit inappropriate in terms of price-performance ratio. On the other hand, it's better as if there were just as few side dishes on the plate - at least that way you'll be full. I also like the "guarantee" of side dishes shown on the menu, you can apparently order additional side dishes at no extra charge. But conversely, you should first get enough sauce and meat for it and that is a clear point of criticism for me given the price.

One star is already too much, the schnitzel was tasteless, the salad was inedible and the fried potatoes were not cooked through. It makes me wonder what this chef does for a living. Never this place again

We were very disappointed that the food was worse than we had experienced in a long time! Salad not edible due to the dressing, fried potatoes extremely greasy, gravy watery and tasteless, spaetzle without any salt so tasteless, schnitzel also tasteless... it really takes away the money you paid for it!!!

Quaint and spacious inn with an adjoining room and beer garden in the Beurbarung district of Freiburg on Tennenbacherplatz. I'm happy to come by from time to time. Mixed audience of young and old, with a full house the noise is sometimes a bit unpleasant, but that doesn't harm the atmosphere. Reservations are advantageous. The food and the price are right. The service staff are always nice and friendly, even when there is a lot of activity.

We were very surprised by the friendly staff and service. My son has a lot of food intolerances and the waitress clarified all questions with the kitchen and gave us competent advice. We have never experienced anything like this before. The food itself was also very tasty (steak exactly medium). Just great service like that. The roast pork leg has been simply delicious for years! I like it best with Brägele. But the lamb's lettuce plate is also an evening meal in itself. We walked past spontaneously and were lucky that there was a table for us. Better reserve!

Gemütliches uriges Lokal mit regionalen Speisen und Wochenkarten. Sehr freundliche Bedienung und geschmacklich sehr gut bei großen Mengen auf dem Teller. Den Punktabzug gibt es lediglich wegen dem Blick in die Küche, wo es auf dem Boden nicht sehr einladen aussah, wobei man daraus NICHT auf die Sauberkeit und Qualität des Essens schließen kann.
