Brennessel in Freiburg im Breisgau

Der Salat ist hervorragend, daher zwei Sterne. Ansonsten hat sich die Lokalität und die Qualität vom Essen mit den Jahren verändert. Ich werde nicht wieder kommen.

Erstes essen bestellen wollen, ausverkauft. Ebenso das zweite. Beim Curry wurde mir verdorbener Reis serviert. Eigentlich sollte man das Gesundheitsamt verständigen. Keinerlei Entschuldigung der Bedienung. Nie wieder.

Mittlerweile gibt es die signature Bolognese auch in vegan. Und die ist auch lecker, und preislich immer noch unschlagbar (vor 19:30 Uhr)

War und ist legendär, trotz Wechsel vor einigen Jahren. Bin da seit Studizeiten und war zu 99.99% immer superzufrieden & megasatt. Bin immer wieder baff, dass Orga & Service hier besser klappen, als in weitaus teureren Restaurants. Fast ALLE Essen kommen zetgleich, alle Essen sind qualitativ deutlich über dem Durchschnitt, die Bedienungen sind trotz MegaStress immer freundlich, Kinder & Rentner fühlen sich in der unkomplizierten, lebendigen Athmosphäre pudelwohl. Das dusslige Kotelett mit Pommes ist wirklich kaum zu toppen, ein besseres Preis-Leistungsverhältnis findet man in ganz Freiburg kaum. Punkt!

Ein tolles kleines Pub etwas außerhalb der Altstadt. Große Auswahl an Speisen und eine richtig lebhafte Atmosphäre. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Eine Institution im Stühlinger. Gehe sehr gerne dort hin, auch spontan bekommt man immer einen Platz. Die Portionen sind sättigend - nicht zu viel aber auch nicht zu wenig. Die Spaghetti kennt wohl jeder, der dort schon einmal war: Gibt auf jeden Fall bessere, aber zu dem Preis einfach unschlagbar! Restliche Karte lässt zu sehr fairen Preise (auch geschmacklich) keine Wünsche offen! Danke!

Das Essen war wirklich super lecker, auch der Service war top. Es kann allerdings wirklich laut werden wenn viel los ist, wir saßen außerdem unter den Lautsprechern und mussten uns bei Unterhalten etwas anschreien. Aber das Essen entschädigt =)

Gutes Essen mit einer breiten Palette von günstig bis etwas teurer und sowohl vegane als auch fleischige Gerichte... Es ist also garantiert für jeden etwas dabei. Der Service ist sehr gut. Das Ambiente einfach gigantisch.

Ein deutscher Freund empfahl mir dieses traditionelle Restaurant, und er hatte absolut Recht. Um 19 Uhr war das Restaurant voll, aber nach kurzer Wartezeit wurden wir mit ausgezeichneten, reichhaltigen traditionellen Gerichten zu fairen Preisen in einer warmen, einladenden und familiären Atmosphäre belohnt. Günstiges Essen und Portionen riesengroß. Nur leider für eine Familie oder ruhige Gespräche ist es zu laut. Da treffen sich sehr viele Gruppen zum länger verweilen und somit ist es zu laut.

We've been coming to the Brennessel for many years. However, lately, we've been coming less and less often, as the service is becoming increasingly cut back. It's a real shame!

That was completely unacceptable. The service was nice. The food was terrible. Four people had burgers, all of them completely dry and hard. The chef in the kitchen preferred to push dropped fries under the counter rather than pick them up. The toilets were dirty even though they'd only been open for an hour.

One of the last "stylish" places in Freiburg. The service is great, the food is delicious, and the prices are absolutely fantastic! We love going there with the kids for dinner after work because it's so uncomplicated. And if you're meeting up with friends in the evening, of course, head to the Brennessel! Cozy, quaint, and just what a pub should be. Please stay the way you are!

What a great local! I like how it's set up! It has such a special feeling. I come from Thuringia and was visiting friends. This allowed me to visit the local. And what can I say? Sooooo friendly staff. The food is so incredibly delicious and the portions are simply huge! The price-performance ratio is unbeatably good! Big praise to the chef, but also to the very courteous waiter. A young man with long hair if I remember correctly. Keep it up! Mega! Pasta with tomato sauce was delicious! There's even vegan cheese now! 😭💖 And not only that! Incredibly many new vegan dishes! Two different burgers, tarte flambée, curry & even dessert! Chocolate cake with a liquid chocolate center! Vanilla ice cream with hot raspberries! And hot chocolate! Incredible! I'm so excited! Just really brilliant improvements since my last visit! Big compliments to the kitchen & recipe ideas! Thank you for making animal protection possible! 🙏 Unfortunately I have to deduct a star because your vegan ice cream & vegan chocolate cake are constantly empty 🥲 What's going on? In addition, the service is currently a bit inattentive. This is how, for example, simply forget an order from us... A flag for the table would be practical. Service is nice and prices are cheap but food wasn't tasty

Vor Kurzem habe ich in der Brennnessel mit Freunden einen Burger gegessen. Darin war nach etwa der Hälfte ein super langes Haar verfangen. Es war mind.20cm lang, sodass ich mich vor Ekel doch nicht mehr zurückhalten konnte und es der Servicekraft mitteilte mit dem Nachtrag, dass man sich vllt in der Küche ein Haarnetz aufsetzen solle. Der Mitarbeiter schob es aber direkt auf Kolleg*innen im Service und meinte, aus der Küche könne es nicht kommen, da habe wohl keiner so langes Haar. Ca.2min später kamen aber gleich 2 Leute aus der Küche (keine Servicekräfte), die beide so langes Haar hatten, dass sie sich einen Zopf binden konnten. Außerdem war das Haar im Burger im Patty selbst verfangen und konnte nicht von außen draufgefallen sein. Jedenfalls nahm man den Burger zurück und bat mir einen neuen an, mir war der Appetit aber leider schon vergangen. Als Alternative boten sie mir an, mein Getränk zu zahlen. Zunächst empfand ich das als nett, im Nachhinein habe ich mich aber ziemlich geärgert. Mit meinem Getränk war doch alles in Ordnung! Wieso sollte man mir das zahlen? Der Burger war doch das Problem! Den wollte man aber nicht übernehmen. Ich vermute, das hatte mit dem Preis zu tun (in etwa 16€). Ich habe noch nie eine Bewertung geschrieben, finde es aber wichtig, das man so etwas, gerade bei einem Laden mit so guter Bewertung, auch mal mitteilt. (P.s.: Ich schreibe von einem geliehenen Account, da ich selbst keinen habe.)

I recently had a burger with friends at the Nettle. There was a super long hair caught in it about halfway through. It was at least 20cm long, so I couldn't hold back my disgust and told the waitress with the addition that you should probably put on a hairnet in the kitchen. But the employee blamed it directly on colleagues in service and said it couldn't come from the kitchen because no one there had that long hair. About 2 minutes later, two people came out of the kitchen (no service staff), both of whom had hair so long that they could tie their hair in a braid. Additionally, the hair in the burger was caught in the patty itself and couldn't have fallen on it from the outside. In any case, they took the burger back and offered me a new one, but unfortunately I had already lost my appetite. As an alternative, they offered to pay for my drink. At first I thought it was nice, but afterwards I was quite annoyed. Everything was fine with my drink! Why should you pay me that? The burger was the problem! But they didn't want to take it over. I suspect it had to do with the price (around €16). I've never written a Google review, but I think it's important to share something like that, especially for a store with such a good rating. (P.s.: I'm writing from a borrowed account since I don't have one myself.)

Since I began my studies in Freiburg in 1993, I have often been to the stinging nettle! It's still a cult favorite for me and my student friends to this day! When I visit Freiburg today, I always try to combine it with a visit to the Nettle! It is associated with many beautiful memories! And I love the burgundy sauce there and always order an extra portion because I think it's so delicious! For me the classic is turkey schnitzel with fries and burgundy sauce! And the nice thing is, it still tastes like it did back then! Our multiple attempts to get the recipe failed again and again! It is always relatively full there and it is advisable to reserve seats! The menu is now even more varied than before and you can eat there quite cheaply! Spaghetti Bolognese is a classic and is a huge portion! Unfortunately I now find the lighting too dark! On my last visit last week I found it really a bit gloomy when sitting in certain places and I think that's a shame because I want to see my food itself! But otherwise everything was as usual and I will continue to visit the nettle!

Very loud here, food was so-so, I definitely can't recommend the Korea burger (it really tasted like vomit). The staff really didn't make any effort to provide guests with a pleasant atmosphere. We only got the food after an hour of waiting. The only thing that is ok here are the prices and offers. I am very surprised about the 4.5 star rating…

I was there and my food came after an hour, my partner's another 15 minutes later. Also had a big hair in my food which spoiled my appetite. The meat was very bad, not salted at all, unfortunately there was no extra salt on the table. Very unfriendly staff. They should be happy that you have to rate it with at least one star, otherwise I would give it 0 stars.

Eating and drinking very tasty, lots of choice, including veggie and vegan, large portions for the price. The operating team was friendly, helpful and familiar. Unfortunately it became very loud later and the restaurant is not barrier-free (toilet in the basement). Luckily we had reservations.

I have been to this restaurant twice. Small ordering errors sometimes but they make up for it on drinks or something else. The servers are very friendly. The maps are only in German. The staff speaks German and English but unfortunately not French. Otherwise good atmosphere and hearty meals at attractive prices. I will go back!

Stinging nettle is simply cult in Freiburg. Good food, very good value for money, an institution in Stühlinger.

Quaint local. More of a rest stop feel, but that's probably how it's supposed to be. The young staff is relaxed and extremely accommodating. The portions are really generous and really tasty. Great kitchen!

Awesome locals place. We visited here for dinner. They don’t have English menus but with google translate and previous pictures we were able to choose dinner. The wait staff speak English and helped us through the menu as well. Food was really good. I had the cowboy burger. It was huge served with steak fries.
