Georgenhof in München

Dear all, I have a small problem. I've ordered a goose for Christmas. Now I don't know how to get my guests into my oven and then move them around for 20 minutes!? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

Fun experience, food overrated.

There was a long wait before I was asked if I wanted a drink. The fries with the schnitzel were meager, and unfortunately, a drink and meal for one person was very expensive at €40.

The three of us had a pleasant evening on Saturday night with a reservation; the service, the quality of the food, and the value for money were all excellent, and we would gladly come again.

The food, and especially the helpfulness and service, were very, very good – however, when the restaurant is full, as it was on our evening, the noise level is unpleasant. Quiet conversations are practically impossible, hence only 3 stars for ambiance!

It's simply lovely to eat and drink here, the staff is very attentive and friendly, but you should reserve a table in advance. 5/5 stars

Great traditional Bavarian cuisine

Nice traditional Bavarian restaurant. Food is tasty, the staff is friendly and patient and the portions, especially the main dishes are generous. Can get a bit noisy when full, but this is restaurant, not a library.

I've visited this wonderful restaurant repeatedly. Wonderful atmosphere, well-trained and friendly staff, and excellent cuisine. Highly recommended: the duck – unique in Munich, in our opinion. Prices are a bit higher, but the quality you receive more than justifies it. Why pay less for significantly inferior food? The Georgenhof is a must for all lovers of Bavarian cuisine!

We were there ordering appetizers and drinking. At 9:50pm (while the restaurant is advertised as open until midnight), when we asked to order our main dishes, the waiter told us that kitchen was closed. We said that we could have been told and he answered that he didn’t know that we were going to eat dinner and that the restaurant was just about to close.

Everything was excellent, very good Bavarian cuisine and very friendly staff.

The restaurant is very nice inside and out, I lucked out with the weather so I was able to sit outside. Very nice, not touristic atmosphere. The old lady waitress is very rude, almost ruined my visit. She’s rushing and it’s disrespectful and probably a touch of racism. The food was OK, the Restaurant came highly recommended by a good friend of mine who lived there for a while, the schnitzel was OK. I had better schnitzel in Salzburg and Vienna. The sauce Preiselbeeren that came with it was good. Excellent beer of course.

This traditional Bavarian Augustiner restaurant may have steep prices, but the value for money and the quality of the food are ultimately more than worth it. The girasole with pumpkin filling and the fried chicken with potato and arugula salad were particularly delicious. Reservations recommended.

The Wallner Weißwurst breakfast with veal veal is unbeatably cheap in all of Munich. Wonderfully rustic, with a separate area for families with children. Really good.

Traditional, Bavarian, full, delicious 😀 They offer excellent seasonal specialties (for example, pumpkin dishes in the fall) and also game dishes. 👌🏻

My second time at the Georgenhof, and it's fantastic again. Excellent food, great service, and incredibly cozy. I'd love to come back.

We had a lovely meal here in a pleasant, rustic setting in the heart of Munich, and enjoyed a delicious meal. The staff were very friendly and very quick. We felt very comfortable. The front room was very crowded and very loud. We sat in the back room, and the noise level was much more pleasant.

A wonderful inn with an authentic dining room. The house specialty isn't on the menu, but it's always a hit: Wiener Schnitzel with Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle).

After visiting the English Garden, it's about a 10-minute walk to a Bavarian restaurant in a quiet and sophisticated location. There are only a few people there, and the atmosphere is wonderful. The seating is spacious. It's the perfect place to stop by for a beer and sausages after visiting the English Garden.

A traditional Munich restaurant with divine dishes and very attentive, friendly, and courteous, yet unobtrusive staff. The quality of the food is top-notch; in short, this restaurant can be called a Munich institution.

The only thing I say negative about this place is, I would love some background music. But that is just me. Love everything else.

A very nice Bavarian restaurant. The food is fresh, delicious, and comes in generous portions. It can take a while during peak times and can get a bit noisy inside, but overall, it's highly recommended—especially on the terrace in summer.

Georgenhof is a typical Bavarian restaurant in Schwabing. The food options include daily specials that range from Wiener Schnitzel and other dishes with seasonal ingredients like mushrooms. There are some vegetarian options though it’s best to eat meat here. One highlight is the tea menu - various caffeinated and herbal ones. The Kaiserschmarrn was good though had only one or two raisins and there was no applesauce, which was disappointing compared to what we were served on past visits. As it is Oktoberfest season in town, it was rather loud with many out of town guests. It was not possible to hear colleagues at the table with raising our voices. Food portions are generous and quality is good. Overall pleasant experience albeit average.

Good food, good service (not "friendly" in the strictest sense, but authentically Bavarian, direct, and helpful 😅). You can also sit outside in good weather. A small but good selection of vegetarian dishes.

No, waited a long time and didn't get what I ordered

I've been coming here for years. Back during my summer vacation, I started searching for the best Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) and actually ate almost nothing else for two weeks. In the end, I knew: my favorites are the ones from Georgenhof! The quality is simply consistently top-notch, even over the years. The Kaiserschmarrn is at least as great; in my opinion, they have the best here. Truly delicious! Pair that with a light beer, and the day is perfect.

The food was very salty, one could say reserved.

Miserable. The food is actually very good, even for the rather high prices... actually... The food never arrived. The waiter hadn't booked it. After an hour of waiting, I was escorted away from the table after two wheat beers. Absolutely unacceptable! One star is too many for such a poor performance.

Saturday evening in Munich, and we wanted to grab a bite to eat, so we said it and went to the Georgenhof, a colleague recommended. The table was reserved and ready for us. The staff was friendly but not the fastest (unfortunately). The gazpacho was great and the venison meatballs were okay, but the sauce wasn't my cup of tea, and the pointed cabbage was unfortunately uninspired. A shame.

The food isn't worth the high prices. Everything served was poorly prepared. It's a shame. I wouldn't recommend the schnitzel either.

Very nice place with good food and nice atmosphere. Mostly Germans having dinner. Beautiful area with old houses.

Reservations are recommended for lunch! The garden can get crowded in nice weather. The service was quick and efficient, but not a word was too much. The food was okay, except for the salad. It obviously hadn't been washed beforehand, unfortunately. You could still clearly feel the sand from the field. Unfortunately, this is the second time in a row that the Georgenhof hasn't impressed. What a shame!

Friendly service but lukewarm food.

I came to Munich as a hitchhiker and found this restaurant by asking locals. The entire staff was very friendly, attentive, and competent. For dinner, I had the hearty ox soup, cheese spaetzle, and sour bread with veal liver sausage. All of the dishes were delicious, but the liver sausage in the sourdough bread, for example, was a bit boring for me. I would recommend sharing it with a group. The soup with semolina dumplings was excellent, as were the cheese spaetzle. Overall, a very nice restaurant visit.

The food was quite tasty and I would recommend getting the Kaiserschmarren. Definitely worth a Visit but also a bit more pricey

Probably the worst schnitzel in Munich. For €33. Bottomless.

Unfortunately, I can only agree with the other reviews. The only thing you can still get here that's authentic Bavarian and of good quality is the beer. And it's delivered. Cheeky prices, incredibly rude and arrogant service, including the front of house, and food from a package. Only the portion size is okay. A few more 1-star reviews are needed here to change things. It's a real shame; it used to be one of the local recommendations. Now it's just another sad example of the decline of Munich pub "quality."

We went here for lunch today with colleagues and were absolutely thrilled. The food was delicious (I had the Cordon Bleu) and the service was excellent. I highly recommend it.

I'd go back again, typical of the region, but the price is a bit higher than you'd expect.

This was our first meal in Germany and it did not disappoint! Everything was good. We had traditional meals and while it is a bit more pricey the portions are very large. We ended up taking our desert home and ate it for breakfast.

The best Bavarian restaurant in Munich

We had cheese spaetzle and salad three times and sorry to all three tastes, everything tasted of vinegar. Even the cheese spaetzle and I eat a lot of cheese spaetzle. The salad was drowned in sauce and vinegar. The whole thing wasn't exactly cheap. I asked the waitress about it and she said she'd never heard of it. I then asked her to try it, but she said no thanks, it doesn't look that good. Very funny. There were also daily specials but the waitress didn't tell us that either.

Everything was great 👍 The service was very good and so was the quality of the food.

Highly recommended, price-wise Schwabing

A truly lovely restaurant with a great outdoor area, this has been going on for many years. The good location does come at a price, of course, but 21.30 for a roast pork that was very dry in places is quite a stretch. Unfortunately, the beef tartare was ground to a fine grind rather than chopped, resulting in an almost pasty consistency, and was a bit over-salted. The service was absolutely excellent; contrary to some previous reviews, there was nothing to complain about. Overall, the food was a bit overpriced.

We've been there several times without a reservation. We still got a good table, and the service was prompt. The food selection was adequate, and the food was served quickly. The portions were generous. I would go again.

Good food, but some things were a bit out of place. The potato salad had far too strong a nutmeg flavor, even for those who like nutmeg. The plates weren't washed 100% clean. The quality of the beef shoulder wasn't great, and the sauces weren't exactly amazing. The ambiance, however, was very nice, and the service was generally very friendly, even if everything, including the 40-minute wait for the bill, seemed to take forever. In summary, a good restaurant for a convivial evening where the food isn't the main focus. If you value high-quality food, you'll find better restaurants in Munich, especially in this price range.

The Georgenhof has the best schnitzel you can eat in Germany, but unfortunately, at 30 euros, it's very expensive. Nevertheless, you have to try this schnitzel at least once.

I was just there on my own to have a quick beer and a bite to eat. However, I encountered an elderly, extremely rude lady who spoke to me in a completely disgusting way for no reason, so I left. Never again. Maybe it was my skin color :)

Food good, very long waiting time

Unfortunately, roast pork has nothing to do with Munich tradition. The quality of the meat is certainly good, but unfortunately dry and tends to be tough. The crust is an insult, a crispy but thin chip on top. This has nothing to do with classic roast pork! It's a shame, the ambience and service is great.

I like going to Georgenhof because it is a nice restaurant with quality food. However, this evening we had a very rude waitress who was hopefully too busy and passed on her frustration to the customers. very unprofessional and a shame for the restaurant. I won't be coming back any time soon. Everything else was perfect

A real Munich gem! The Georgenhof impresses with its cozy atmosphere, attentive service and the finest Bavarian cuisine. Absolute highlight: the Kaiserschmarrn – airy, golden brown and perfectly caramelized. Definitely try it!

We're normally really critical, but everything here tasted phenomenal! The restaurant was full - about 300 guests. Cooking so well on such a busy evening is great! 5.0 stars from us!

Mixed feelings. On the one hand, the service and the ambience are nice (one star deducted because of the noise). However, given the high prices, I have a few criticisms about the food. Example: Roast pork: The bread dumplings are simply not well made. Whenever I was there, they were far too compact and clearly over-salted, making them reminiscent of a finished product. The meat is often a bit tough and should spend longer in the oven. Example: Onion roast: The cheese spaetzle side dish does not taste like cheese spaetzle but rather spaetzle in cheese and cream sauce, with the emphasis on cream. The vegetables were absolutely overcooked and almost porridge, which is a shame because different mouthfeels can potentially enhance a meal in my opinion. Overall only three stars because the food is still the most important thing when eating out.

It's a shame, it used to be an honest place, today it's very overpriced, poor service, food doesn't arrive at the same time, and of the 4 main courses, the roast pork was already out at 8 p.m. Speaking of which, €21.90 for a roast pork is quite a word for a pub...

Fine Bavarian cuisine at slightly higher prices. But it's worth it because the portions are really big! The roast pork was incredibly good, I would have been happy if there had been a second dumpling with it. I also really like the way the sauce is served in a separate bowl, so everyone can add sauce wherever they want. It's nice to sit outside, and it's pretty authentic inside, but the acoustics are a bit tiring because it's quite loud. The service was very attentive and friendly, even if they were visibly busy. We'd love to come back :)

For me the most beautiful inn in Munich. And I have had the best smoked fish dish here so far. Everything else looked very good too. Friendly people. We had a wonderful evening.

Upscale “beer garden” in summer. Always great food and the quality is noticeable. We are always satisfied, no matter the occasion. Wiener schnitzel or onion roast are clear recommendations.

On March 22nd, 2025 in the afternoon we sat very nicely in the garden and ordered two salads with the drinks - wild herb salad with goat cheese was good (not very good!), the romaine lettuce with Caesar dressing and chicken was totally bad - as soon as the salad came, we complained that the chicken breast on the bone was not cooked through - it was argued that the meat was prepared sous-vide - we asked for it to be fried, which was done, However, only very half-heartedly -> the meat was cooked through, but didn't look very appetizing. The romaine lettuce itself doesn't even deserve a star, also because of the boring dressing! Despite our comments to the nice waiter who served the almost full plate, there was no feedback from the kitchen - that's extremely unpleasant, especially since the kitchen was certainly not busy at that time. For many, many years I have always enjoyed eating the “classics” and been very satisfied - but yesterday was a very bad experience!

Absolutely gorgeous place, delicious food, large portions, polite and professional staff. I can say that I sensed how people, who sat at the other tables, love this place.

I haven't eaten so badly in a long time. It's a shame to serve such dishes to guests. Every snack tastes better. Stomach/intestinal problems included. Never again!

Ambiance was very nice, staff was very nice when picking up, BUT Kaiserschmarrn was announced as caramelized. For me this means that I bite into firmer layers of sugar every now and then. I picked up the Kaiserschmarrn, waited in the restaurant because I was a little early, opened it straight away in the car and it felt like biting into a stack of moist, warm, sweet washcloths soaked in a little rum. When I ask what is meant by caramelized: "...sugar melted with rum, but no crunchy sugar, just liquefied sugar that stays liquid.

Amazing Kaiserschmarrn with awesome service in a wonderful neighbourhood

Very nice inn, food very good, beer service normal. However, really rude service, Milena. We had verifiably reserved with an email confirmation from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The lady claimed the reservation was only until 7 p.m. A misunderstanding can happen. Afterwards, however, she became very mushy and told us to our faces that she would no longer serve us. Another waiter actually took over and was friendly. I don't want to go to the pub to be insulted and annoyed.

It's always a shame. A few years ago the Georgenhof was really recommended. For 2-3 years the food has just been bad. Starting with the schnitzel and ending with the cheese spaetzle. Really a shame!!!
