A traditional inn that lives up to its name and tradition in every respect. Excellent value for money. The new menu has been adapted.

In any case. Unbelievably good.

We were there yesterday with five people and received a warm welcome. The atmosphere was exactly as we imagined. The food exceeded all expectations; it was truly delicious and arrived quickly. And the service was incredibly friendly. I highly recommend it.

We had such a delicious meal last year and a wonderful, cozy evening. We came back especially for that. Unfortunately, not next year. The service was a bit grumpy.

Nice, quiet beer garden. Service was quick and friendly. The shoulder of pork was only lukewarm. Prices were reasonable.

The garden is lovely and inviting for a drink. The food was cold and quite tough. I called someone several times for mayonnaise and salt, but unfortunately, only one of the three was actually working. I called the other lady twice, but she completely ignored us and refused to help us. We've never had this problem before, and I don't understand why. I haven't given any bad reviews in my previous review. We did mention it and were offered a coffee, but I politely declined. Finally, when we paid, she tried to claim a €4.50 tip. I normally tip, but not like this.

The food was absolutely delicious. As always. We were able to sit in the beer garden. It was simply wonderful. It wasn't crowded during the week either.

There's nothing to complain about the service: fast and friendly. The food arrived quickly and tasted very good. I needed a second helping of the sauce for the roast pork, which was truly excellent. 😉 The price and quality are very, very good. I always enjoy coming back for dinner.

Authentic, inexpensive, and delicious Bavarian food. However, there definitely needs to be more staff on site during peak times.

A very quaint pub. Its proximity to the highway is a definite plus. The food was very decent.

The service is top-notch. You should only stay away on days when the usher is extremely unfriendly.

Super tasty food, large portions.

The food tastes like fast food, quickly reheated. The price-performance ratio is disproportionate. The food is poor quality. Too expensive for what it is. The chanterelle mushrooms were soggy and tasted of dish soap. Obazter (traditional Austrian sausage) is served with discount farmer's bread instead of pretzels. Both dishes, including the roast beef with onions, were too salty. The ambiance looks dingy, unkempt, and the leaves haven't been removed. Overall, the place looks very neglected. I wouldn't go back to this restaurant and I don't recommend it.

My plea: Take care of your reputation, it looks like things are going downhill! We've been visiting this beer garden and restaurant for several decades when we're in western Munich. I rated the Alter Wirt in Obermenzing 5 stars last year, but today it only deserves 2*. Back in the day, they also served authentic Munich delicacies – like lung, heart, and lung, sometimes with potatoes, vegetables, and salad! Now, in my opinion, the menu is simply optimized for the kitchen. Many convenience items, heavy on meat, poorly presented, unseasoned, or oversalted, are not what you'd expect from a down-to-earth, home-style Augustiner restaurant. By the way, perhaps the boss should take a look in the "little room" in the evening and then empty the overflowing paper towel basket and block the overflowing urinal (I'll spare you any further details). So the 2 stars are for the drinks and because we had a very nice waiter today.

A restaurant you rarely find these days. Authentic Bavarian. Amazing. The menu features many typical Bavarian dishes. Definitely worth a visit. Tip: reserve a table in advance!

Good Bavarian cuisine! Always happy to come back!

We were at your place yesterday for my 40th birthday. The tables were nicely decorated...thank you for that...the food was good...the service was very nice...but I felt sorry for them...they were extremely busy...a bit more staff wouldn't be bad...otherwise everything was great.

I was back here with a small group after a long absence. The weather was nice and we were able to sit in the wonderful beer garden. Everyone enjoyed the good food. The service was also very friendly. I'm always amazed by this venerable inn, dating back to 1417. 👍

I've been coming to this restaurant regularly for many years, and for a German restaurant, this restaurant is unbeatable. Food: Excellent with an absolutely top-notch price-performance ratio. Service and friendliness are also unbeatable, and the opening hours are exceptional – other restaurants should take a leaf out of their book. Very cozy and very good cuisine

We've been to the Alter Wirt several times over the past few years and have always been very satisfied. Unfortunately, a lot has changed here, and the food was mediocre for the price. The food came separately, and a roast beef with onions for €26.90, poorly presented without salad or vegetables, was probably the wrong choice—and not even medium as ordered. We skipped dessert.

The food leaves a lot to be desired in terms of quality and taste. I've never had such a thin cordon bleu with almost no filling. It wasn't cooked all the way through either. The breading was dripping with grease—simply awful. A side salad has to be ordered separately. The salad dressing tastes like nothing. The beer was poorly poured. It was almost two fingers below the gauge line. Not recommended.

I celebrated my birthday here two days ago with 20 people. It was a thoroughly successful evening and couldn't have been better. Everyone enjoyed the food and it arrived quickly, all at the same time. The waiters were also very friendly and accommodated my individual requests. We had a room to ourselves with a beautiful, wide table. We will definitely all come back. Thank you for the lovely evening!

Cozy ambience, old Bavarian charm, good food

We came here spontaneously. We got a nice table in the beer garden right away. The food was delicious. The waiters were all very nice and friendly.

The food was cold and barely seasoned. One person was forgotten and received their plate 45 minutes late. The waitress (an older gentleman) was very rude, expensive, and no thanks for the undeserved tip. Instead, he shooed me away with a wave of his hand! Never again

The waiter, Helmut, was very unfriendly. I left my food after about an hour because my wife had already finished hers and everyone else who came after me had also finished theirs. No apologies. I won't be back anytime soon, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Everything was great and good! Great service and good food with a Bavarian atmosphere and not a mass tourist experience.

The food wasn't that good. It was on the table within 10 minutes, so you couldn't expect much from the start. I had duck that was too dry and I could hardly cut through the skin (I had a blunt knife and a dessert fork). The red cabbage from a jar and the sauce was salty. The potato dumpling was quite good. My companions' so-called steaks (3 pork steaks) in the Swabian plate were too dry and they all tasted the same. The vegetables weren't even seasoned, just sprinkled with a bit of parsley. The currywurst was good, but the fries tasted earthy and should have been in the fryer longer. The roast pork smelled very porky but was quite good and tender. The service was otherwise very good and polite. But please, if not everyone has finished eating, then you can wait to clear away, right?

Solid Munich restaurant. Great for outdoor seating. The fries were a bit soggy. But the beer selection was good.

Insider tip! A traditional inn with Bavarian delicacies, such as offal and excellent roast duck, tasty beer, and a lovely beer garden under chestnut trees. It's always worth a stop when passing through Munich.

Unfortunately umbrellas do not belong in a beer garden

This is the real genuine thing, good food and warm feeling.

Unfortunately, I have to lower my rating now... Apparently, the chef has changed; in any case, the food just doesn't taste as good as it did back then. The prices have also increased considerably, which is understandable, but please keep the quality the same. The service is still very friendly, and you'll always have a nice seat. Still, it's a real shame about the once truly excellent food.

The food was top-notch, the Kaiserschmarrn was sensational. Highly recommended. The price/performance ratio is absolutely justified. Unfortunately, we can only give it 5 stars.

The portion size of the food has shrunk significantly after the incredible price increase. Unfortunately no longer recommended. The taste is rather negative. The roast pork was very tough, the sauce tasted like powder from Maggi or Knorr. The salad probably came from the bucket. In contrast to the past, the schnitzels are more children's portions. We're not coming anymore. After 20 years of tradition, we no longer cook here. Very unfortunate. In the past, the portions and the taste were simply better and the portions were larger. There are also good alternatives in Obermenzing for these prices

It was our first time there and we sat in the beer garden. The beer garden is very nice and certainly suitable for having a drink. However, what didn't convince us at all was the food. Side dishes were cold and the meat was sometimes very tough. The portions are also rather manageable and the price-performance ratio is not good. The service in the beer garden was very nice and helpful. We see the inn more for a beer and Leberkäs in the beer garden. Not recommended for all other dishes 🐰.

Unfortunately, our visit to the Alten Wirt was disappointing. The roast pork was served cold - as was the sauce and the dumpling. When it came to the Swiss sausage salad (for just under €13), I had the impression that it was packaged sausage or even a store-bought salad - simply piled carelessly on the plate. Unfortunately, it's really not appropriate for this price. The atmosphere and the staff were completely okay.

Ambience great, food good - waited almost an hour for food in the beer garden with children. Children are going crazy because they are hungry. No chance of getting a pretzel “quickly” with a crying child. Never again - even if it's right in the neighborhood.

First of May…impossible to order anything. !!! Word totally overwhelmed and not for the first time!!! Very unfortunate. And bad planning!

Waited over 2 hours for the food despite repeated requests, extremely unfriendly service, half of the order didn't come and we didn't receive cutlery either.

Unfortunately the waiter (probably been there for years) in the beer garden is very very very rude. From racist comments like "we don't have a proper pork knuckle, we have Indians in the kitchen who don't even know what that is" We are too stop waving at me, I don't like that! Everything was there! Munich has so many beautiful beer gardens🙏🏼 we probably won't go to the old inn anymore👎🏼

If you're looking for a Bavarian restaurant, you've come to the right place: both the duck and the breaded fish fillet were really "guard". The service was quick and attentive. The atmosphere is rustic. Thank you that an inn like this still exists!

After a long time we were back in the beer garden and were looking forward to the food. Unfortunately, this was probably the wrong day. Duck pale, red cabbage not for eating. Swiss sausage salad served without love. Pickle not to eat. Rhubarb spritzer very thin! Bread dry! A lot of quality was saved here today! Not a good day today! The only waitress in the well-filled beer garden did her best!

Always worth a visit. Were there again yesterday on the way back from our big dog walk. I got the wrong beer, but I still got the wheat beer I ordered at no extra charge. 🤣 As always, the food was very tasty and the portions were quite large. We'll definitely see each other again!

You often have to wait longer than 20 minutes for cold food and the glasses are often not the cleanest, but otherwise the prices are reasonable and the food tastes good

Simple, rustic Bavarian and delicious.

During the last visit they were placed in the corner at the main entrance, drafty, untidy and sloppily set up. The service team was extremely listless and unmotivated. We used to feel very comfortable in the AW, but unfortunately that time is over and we looked around for good alternatives nearby and quickly found them. Unfortunately, the food is just overpriced compared to the quality standards 🥲

Excellent food and the service was good, now used a couple of times when staying in Munich

After a few months we went back to the Altes Wirt for a larger meeting. Our reservation was the parlor downstairs. This is completely unheated. An old small fan heater is intended to generate a little heat. An absolute no-go in January, your feet are already ice cold after a few minutes. Here a modernization would be e.g. B. Urgently appropriate using wall heating or at least several fan heaters. You don't feel comfortable when it's so cold and fast. Yes, it is an old building, but it can certainly be made more pleasant for the guest using modern, simple means. I limited myself to a small meal and ordered a portion of fries. The fries themselves were normal frozen, there was no salt, but that wouldn't be a problem. But the size of the portion. A soup bowl that wasn't even completely filled and carelessly placed there was billed for €5.80. This is the price for the children's portion of the children's menu. A side dish portion would have been a little cheaper. Even though the service was very friendly, quick and attentive, I am definitely not satisfied with today's visit. Especially since the toilets smelled so unpleasant. A deodorant/air freshener or new fan would certainly be helpful here. All in all very disappointing. We were used to much better things in the past.

Good food at normal prices. Friendly service. Good gastronomy and beautiful dining rooms with adjoining rooms and, in summer, a mega beer garden. This is still a real Bavarian economy.
