Gasthof Hinterbrühl Beer Garden in München

The food is good, traditional Bavarian with an Austrian touch. Unfortunately, the service staff is very disorganized and it looks like they have no gastronomic training. When the weather is good, the outside service area is very busy. Nice view of the lake.

In the afternoon between an autumnal walk I was there, outside at the table. I would have preferred to order coffee and Kaiserschmarren, unfortunately the waiter told me that Kaiserschmarren takes 1 hour. Now I just ordered a cappuccino. A small cup of cappuccino, at a not particularly good level of coffee, it cost €5.40!!!! Isn't the price exaggeratedly too expensive??? Service wasn't very friendly either. Too bad.

The service was incredibly slow. Dirty dishes were not cleared away but were placed on a high table next door. Ate a café and cake on the terrace in a beautiful location with a view of Lake Hinterbrühl. We found the prices to be too high for the small sizes. It's a shame, because the location is actually nice, and we've been there for dinner before, and the food was good, but even there the service was uncoordinated and slow.

Kaiserschmarrn: small amount and completely sugary, moderately fluffy (13.99 at least an imaginative price formulation) Cappuccino good quality but at 5.40 for the small cup it's not even appropriate for Munich. Service nice

Me and my husband wanted to eat a pumpkin ginger soup, what we got was not a pumpkin ginger soup, it had too much coconut milk like flour and there were lumps in the soup when I asked the waitress what that is, it doesn't taste like pumpkin ginger soup either He took the soup with him and then said that he asked the chef and he said he had cooked it fresh in the morning but couldn't tell us why the soup was like that and didn't taste like pumpkin ginger soup. Afterwards we both felt sick to our stomachs . I'm very disappointed and there wasn't even a clear explanation. Never again !!!!!

We celebrated our wedding here on the outdoor terrace and are still grateful for the wonderful evening. The support beforehand was excellent. You noticed an enormous amount of professionalism and also realistic advice about what works and what doesn't work so well, without trying to "sell" us anything more. Emails were almost always answered on the same day. Food/drink in a nutshell: great! All guests were happy. The two waiters, who were probably only responsible for us (we were "only" 35 people), were always there and immediately fulfilled even extremely short-term requests. Of course they were friendly too. All in all: Gladly again, definitely again, although perhaps not for the wedding ;-)... Thank you !!!

This Bavarian restaurant is in the idyll on the edge of the Isar meadows. Great location in the countryside, with a very large beer garden with and without service. The staff is very friendly, helpful, professional and competent. The food is original Bavarian cuisine and tastes excellent. Served beautifully with style. The rustically furnished restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere. Also suitable for events such as weddings or company celebrations. We will definitely come back after a hike or bike ride.

We always enjoyed going to the self-service beer garden, nice and shady under the chestnut trees. Unfortunately, this is now also completely covered with huge parasols, so the heat builds up. A no go in midsummer temperatures. Unfortunately, the beer garden atmosphere was also lost. Too bad :-(

Very disappointed, we ordered four main courses, none of us liked the food. We told the very friendly waiter, who informed the kitchen. There was no further response. Very high prices.

A beautiful beer garden directly on the Isar. The fins from Wolfratshausen drive past the beer garden with music and a good atmosphere. A large screen was also put up for the football fans. The food came quickly and the staff was extremely nice. The stress was noticeable - a wedding, a baptism, a full beer garden and a full restaurant.... but as already written above, an excellent, courteous waiter. I like to eat the tarte flambée there.

We, 12 colleagues, wanted to spend a nice evening and were bitterly slowed down: 10 minutes to get the menu, 40 minutes to get our first drink, then we were left dry - the bill was still decent: €9.80 for 0.2l of country wine Dirty glasses complete the impression

Review is about the beer garden: Very nice, shady beer garden, which is particularly recommended on hot days. Even then, the beer garden is not overcrowded. The selection of food is somewhat limited due to the small size of the beer garden. Ate chicken with fries. Chicken a little pale and seasoned sparingly. Portion of fries comes in a kind of ceramic currywurst bowl and is a rather small portion at €6.

Always absolutely satisfied! Great view and great food, after eating you can always stop by and see the rabbits and chickens, very cute! Always happy to come by :)

We were able to enjoy a great lunch in a very impressive atmosphere. The staff was very attentive and friendly at the same time. You don't forget experiences like that.

We had our company party in the beer garden. The ambience, we were among ourselves even though other guests were also sitting in the garden, was very cozy, the food was delicious and, despite the buffet, consistently fresh and to the point. But we would particularly like to highlight the service. . We didn't even have an empty glass, an unfulfilled wish, nor did we have to wait for anything. I have rarely seen service so on point. At this point, high praise. This won't be our last party at the Gasthof Hinterbrühl!!

I had a very unpleasant experience at the Gasthof Hinterbrühl. I ordered a coffee for €4.90 and wanted to pay €5.50 with a card including the tip. The waiter then reacted extremely unprofessionally and said that it was absurd to pay by card because it caused too much bureaucracy. Before I wanted to pay by card, I even offered to go to the car and get change, but he refused. The conversation lasted 5-6 minutes, during which he explained to me in detail the bureaucratic effort involved in paying by card. I replied that I work in the catering industry myself and that card payments are normal these days, I know the problem and he shouldn't blame the problem on the customers. I was then treated condescendingly by the much older waiter who said that I couldn't have that much experience at my age. The whole situation could have been avoided if he had accepted my offer to get change from the car. Despite my tip and patience, he complained non-stop. Such disrespectful and unfriendly treatment of customers is unacceptable. This behavior completely spoiled my visit, and unfortunately I cannot recommend the Gasthof Hinterbrühl.

The inn is within walking distance of StadtCamping München Thalkirchen. It's a pleasure to eat there - whether in summer or winter - it's just great there. The food is amazing.

The food is inedible and sometimes cold. The staff seems annoyed and unmotivated. You are surrounded by drunk men who are constantly shouting and shouting. There is celebration and shouting every day, which is why the neighbors in the area are annoyed. There is sometimes VERY LOUD MUSIC PLAYED until 2:00 a.m. There are people who want to sleep or have to get up early but this is not taken into account. I complained several times but NOTHING HAS CHANGED. I've already called the police. Not recommended 0 stars.

It was widely advertised everywhere that all European Championship games would be broadcast. When we wanted to watch the finale, everything was already closed. A huge disappointment and consumer deception!!! Also overpriced.

Traditional inn with a beautiful beer garden overlooking Lake Hinterbrühl. Attentive service. My gourmet burger with pretzel bun tasted very good. The highlight for me was the chocolate lava cake 😋

We were in the SB beer garden at a European Championship game. The clerk at the checkout was very unfriendly because we wanted to pay with a card. He just said that everyone only wanted to pay with a card and he didn't think that was funny and in a very unfriendly tone. Won't be going there any time soon

I recently celebrated my 60th birthday at the Gasthof Hinterbrühl. The service was just great. The service staff assigned to us was sensational and got everything straight to the point. Friendly, professional and very sensitive when the situation required it. The meal was delicious. It was perfect all-round care. The ambience cannot be topped. Thanks to the team at Gasthof Hinterbrühl, it was an unforgettable celebration for and our guests. Thank you very much!! We can only recommend the location and would be happy to come back ourselves.

Very expensive - quiet on a weekday

We have known this restaurant for a long time and can also recommend it if you are making a short stop in Munich. We usually eat outside in the back area - nice staff.

A traditional Bavarian restaurant with a wonderful terrace and beer garden. When the weather is good you can enjoy the very well prepared (dessert) dishes here. Every now and then a visitor comes by (see pictures) 😀 However, the interior of the inn is rather rustic.

Kitchen still worse than better in 2024 but nice surroundings and comfortable to sit and have a drink.

If you think it's nice when a proud rooster flaps its wings next to you while you're eating - it's better to cover the food beforehand! – and a cute chicken poops on the floor – be careful when getting up! – then you will feel comfortable here. If not, then just don't complain to the gentleman at the entrance to the garden. He takes this very ungraciously and becomes rabid. First he insults you (“You're sick in the head”), then he grabs you and tries to push you down the driveway. This is what happened on June 14, 2024 at noon. Incredible!

Food, ambience and service are good. Unfortunately, given the prices, especially the drinks, the store is like a pharmacy! A bottle of water for almost 10 EUR and the Aperol glass is still missing its contents. I wouldn't do it again.

We hadn't expected to be able to sit outside around 11:30 on Sunday, but it worked great under the great umbrellas. The staff was incredibly nice. My wife really liked the pumpkin cream soup with ginger. I enjoyed my roast pork, which was more like half a pork knuckle. The coleslaw with bacon was also delicious. The potato dumpling was okay, the bread dumpling was rather boring. Fantastic ambience, you can then go for a great walk in the Isar meadows. It was a great trip and we would love to come back!

Traditional Bavarian restaurant with a beautiful terrace and beer garden in a slightly elevated position above the street on Lake Hinterbruehler in the Isar meadows. Friendly, quick service, well-kept atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food was hardly average, the crust from the roast was plentiful but mostly tough, the roast was quite firm despite the early hour and a bit dry despite the generous amount of sauce (also a bit thin). The mini potato dumpling was ok (but more of a convenience product), the other equally small bread dumpling (was that really one?) was like concrete and completely tasteless. Given the high prices (20 euros for the crusty roast), in my opinion something like that shouldn't be possible. And the drinks in particular are overpriced (5.80 half). It was a nice day, but unfortunately not great food.

This is just an incredible place in a super beautiful location! Suitable for traveling with children, for weddings and for get-togethers with friends. A huge territory, a zoo and two playgrounds.

Really nice area, view of Hinterbrühler See. Near the Isar. Unfortunately very expensive and poor quality food. Pollock from a freezer pack and “forest mushrooms with dumplings” exclusively with mushrooms for 20 euros...

It's a shame that the cakes are frozen when prices are so high; at €5 you can expect fresh goods. You could buy it from local bakeries...

Unfortunately, after the renovation the prices increased significantly, especially for drinks. A wine spritzer 0.5 liters. Not exactly average for €9.10. But compared to using the toilet as a “non-guest” for €3.00, it’s almost a bargain. Very nice location. The waiter wasn't very friendly. Update April 2024: I also tried to have the review deleted.

The beer garden food is very expensive and absolutely not good. The food was ice cold and the fries were undercooked and greasy. Half the chicken was tough and cold. The dumplings were done, but cold.

The price-performance ratio has shifted dramatically: prices are going up and quality is going down at the same time. What happened here? Specifically: for a long time there was a really good roast pork here, today the total disappointment is like rubber in the consistency including cartilage for 17.5€ (small) and 20€ (normal). Next example Kaspressknödel(17€🤡) Not at all recognizable as such either visually or in terms of taste. The worst cheese dumplings I've ever eaten and ultimately our dog. Since you can't actually make them wrong, I'm even assuming that they weren't made in-house but were "purchased", at least underground. The gourmet burger (20€) was good, after all. We definitely won't be coming back, not even to drink! The prices for the drinks are completely exorbitant! Addendum: when looking through the reviews it says several times that an attempt is being made to have negative reviews deleted. You are on a dangerous wrong path. It's better to strive for quality as it once was. Why was there only an interim bill in the end? I'm assuming it was an oversight, otherwise the problem will get bigger rather than smaller.

Very nice garden terrace with a view of the lake. Not too overcrowded despite May 1st. Very tasty desserts.

Ambiance is really great. On a sunny day on the terrace with a view of Lake Hinterbrühl. On the terrace we were visited by a chicken and a rooster. Idyllic Our service was very nice, quick and attentive. The food, however, didn't convince us. The potato salad with sour cucumber slices tasted like a convenience product. A few whole rocket leaves were placed on top and a few drops of pumpkin seed oil. Wasn't great. The sauce for the veal patties was only lukewarm and somehow not tasty. Conclusion: high prices with mediocre quality.

For the prices quoted, the service is more than expandable, to say the least. Waiting 25 minutes for your first drink is already borderline. The food came without cutlery, so you had to get it yourself. Super nice location and ambience, everything else was rather disappointing. Now, after two years, the inn has responded with a complaint to Google, claiming that I was never a guest. However, the invoice is still there. Better improve the service than react to criticism like this!!!

Update April 2024: the restaurant is trying to legally force the deletion of this negative recession via Google. Criticism is apparently not wanted - very weak. Confirms my negative impression. Attention: if no proof can be provided that the restaurant was visited, the recession will be deleted. Luckily I have proof :) ... well, bad luck, dear inn. Just take legitimate criticism seriously...

This is a gem. Secret tip by locals. Try the Zwiebelrostbraten. The best steak you ever had. Kaiserschmarrn is the most delicious desert out there.

Beer prices have skyrocketed: €5.90 for a wheat beer. This even tops the price level in Munich city center.

Stopped in spontaneously for an early dinner. The service was quite attentive and friendly. Ordered pork roast twice at 20 euros each. There was actually quite a lot of tender meat on it, unfortunately both portions were surrounded by no crust at all, just the rubbery skin/rind. Please delete the word “crust” from the card. The bread and potato dumplings are more like the size of a table tennis ball, there is a lot of savings here, far from the classic tennis ball size. Price/performance is no longer right at 20 euros per roast.

Classic inn with a terrace offering beautiful views. We had the fried fish with potato salad and the cheese dumpling soup - both are recommended, expertly prepared and the portion size was appropriate.

One of the most beautiful Beer Gardens there is! Lovely surroundings and nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, the choices on the menu are quite limited and half aimed at tourists and not very authentic. I can recommend the Kaiserschmarrn!
