Wir waren während unseres Urlaubes mehrfach im Gasthof Gries Essen und haben auch oft nach unseren Wanderungen einen kurzen Stopp für ein Kaltgetränk eingelegt. Wir wurden jedes Mal von allen Kellner-Feen freundlich bedient. Alle Speisen waren frisch, mega lecker und von den Portionen her absolut mehr als ausreichend. Das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis ist vollkommen angemessen. Wir können den Gasthof Gries bedenkenlos weiterempfehlen. Wir freuen uns schon auf das nächste Jahr und hoffen, dass ihr "Gries"-Mädels euch nicht eurer freundliches Wesen nehmen lasst. Menschen wie ihr, tragen für unseren unvergesslichen Urlaub bei. Einen ganz lieben Gruß an das gesamte Team und einen besonders dicken Schmatzer von unserer Fellnase Kijani an die liebe Claudia.

Waren als Familie da und wollten zum Abend noch eine Kleinigkeit essen. Fragten höflich nach, doch die Kellnerin war dermaßen unhöflich und abweisend, sodass wir hungrig weiterzogen.

The service was very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious except for a few little things.

We stopped at this restaurant to taste authentic struddel with a cup of tea. Hostess looked at us from head to toe disparagingly and said the restaurant was closed while other customers were being served. As Dutch people, we have experienced this very transgressive behavior as shocking. An apology would have been appropriate!

Very cozy, rustic inn with delicious food and fast, friendly service. Dogs are welcome and even get a treat. Prices are absolutely reasonable, and the beer is great anyway. However, you should reserve a table early as the restaurant is very popular.

Very nice traditional inn with delicious food! Went for dinner yesterday during our vacation and were completely satisfied. Dishes are fresh and portions are filling. There is nothing to complain about about the service, friendly, fast and attentive. We'd love to come back!

We won't go there again, the three knuckles were very cooked and dry. The liver dumpling soup was delicious. We come to Mittenwald at least once a year (for 10 years) and this was the third disappointment in a row, which is a shame because you can sit outside.

The atmosphere is nice and the service is friendly and quick. One star deducted from the service because you cannot pay by card. We had hoped for a little more from the food. It was ok but not anymore. The Cordon Bleu filled only with cheese didn't quite suit our taste. Some cooked ham or even raw ham wouldn't have hurt here. The vegetarian portion was relatively small - three types of bread dumplings could have been either a little larger or two of each type. They were tasty nonetheless. Overall a solid 4 stars.

We were told very grumpily that the guesthouse was closing (it was 1:30 PM). While people in front of us just sat down and were served full glasses, with happy faces and laughter. Besides feeling unwelcome, it also felt quite racist.

We were there with a larger group on April 9th, 2024. The food was good and the ambience too. Unfortunately we had to leave the inn at 9:15 p.m. because we were the last guests. Card payment is also not possible. This can be done better

Spinach dumplings and salad on a plate that was cold, i.e. the dumplings were only lukewarm. We complained, new portion again on a cold plate. Small dumplings, high price.

Very cozy, good food (only the knuckle could have been a little crispier) and at the end on Sunday there was brass music again. We really liked it 👍

A very nice Bavarian restaurant with appropriate background music. The service was quick and friendly, the drinks (Spezi on tap) were served quickly. When it came to the dishes (Bavarian and Swiss sausage salad), the plate was the highlight. Not that it wasn't tasty, with Harry Wijnvoord I would have been eliminated in the first round 🤷🏻‍♂️ Too many euros for too little sausage salad. Still, it was nice. Maybe we'll come back when the euro is more stable again.

Slow and unfriendly service. Wouldn't come again. We didn't like the food either - there was pork knuckle, which was dry. Dumplings only tasted floury. Would definitely not recommend.

Yesterday I had another wonderful evening at the Gasthaus Gries. The food is very tasty and always super good 👍🏾 The service is excellent and you can feel really comfortable. Above all, the nice waitress Alexandra rounded off the evening. Accommodating and very friendly. Thanks also to the boss 🧑‍🍳

Went there today with family. Restaurant looks inviting from the outside. Inside it's also quaint and ok Wanted normal cuisine and ordered frittaten soup and roast pork. The frittaten soup was really great, respect for that. But unfortunately the roast pork was nothing. Chewy, dry and not seasoned. As we were clearing away we were asked straight away what was going on with the food. After explanation, the dish was removed from the bill without any discussion or request from us. That was great. The beer on tap, both the 0.5l and the 0.3l, was always 1cm below the filling line. After the foam has settled. So I won't go there again, I was very disappointed, unfortunately.

The food and service were great and the cozy atmosphere also made you want to linger. We'd love to come back!

Today we had lunch at Gasthof Gries (early season). The service wasn't very attentive. After ordering drinks, we had to wait over 15 minutes for the food to arrive, even though there wasn't much going on. Upon request, there is also an extra children's menu with colorful pens for coloring. Unfortunately, the pork knuckle for just under €18 didn't appeal to us. The crust was very "floppy" and not edible. In my opinion, 4 stars are actually too many, but 3 is too few. It's a solid tourist restaurant.

I was totally delighted with this wonderfully cozy restaurant. You came in and immediately felt comfortable. We were greeted right at the start by a very cheerful and of course cheerful waitress and were well looked after throughout our entire stay. The ambience is great, the food was extremely tasty and the waiting times were absolutely fine. Rarely have we experienced such attentive and non-intrusive service. Dogs are welcome and are allowed to stay in the restaurant.

The food was delicious and the staff was very attentive and friendly. We sat outside, beautifully located in the center of town. Unfortunately, the portions are a bit sparse, so there could be more on the plate! In my opinion, based on the portions, the prices are quite high and not entirely justified. Otherwise everything was great.

The food was very tasty, it was very quick, it was a very cozy inn and there were even dog treats for the dog. Service was also very friendly.

Friendly staff, Bavarian atmosphere and also a small selection of vegetarian dishes and fish. For me personally, the rösti didn't go well with the fried pollock, as both are very fatty. The sauce for the fish was also very salty and had no special taste. In addition, card payments should be possible these days (cash only). Even the ice cream parlor is better positioned for small amounts.

Such great gastronomy. Great ambience. The service was super nice. We wish we had more of that. We ate there several times and every dish was top notch. Thank you very much for that. We are in Mittenwald twice a year and always enjoy coming back.

Ate Schweinshaxe. Delicious, but because we wanted potatoes instead of dumplings we had to pay extra. Also pay extra for a bag of mayonnaise. Very un-German.

Good, typical inn food at fair prices. Homemade fries and cordon bleu, homemade sausage salad and friendly, fast service :) Unfortunately no card payment, like many other shops in the region.

The grill plate was poorly seasoned and the schnitzel was as thin as paper and still stringy. The fries are homemade, but I'd rather eat fries from the Rewe than these raw potatoes in the middle that are drowned in oil. All in all, lean. You have to know. Ps the salad tastes good

If you are looking for a cozy inn with regional food, this is the place for you. We ate there twice with the whole family during our vacation and were greeted in a friendly, child-friendly manner. The food didn't take long to arrive and was very good. Typical Bavarian cuisine and delicious Mittenwald beer. I can really recommend the inn and would love to come back.

Typisch bayrichser Gasthof, bei unserem Besuch gab es landestypische Livemusik. Alle Essen waren sehr gut. Und dann kam die Nachspeise: Kaiserschmarrn. Sehr gut und eine Megaportion. Ginge auch als Hauptspeise.

Super hospitable and warm! Attentive, yet non-intrusive service and even dogs are welcome. The ambience is right and the food is also incredibly tasty. It's difficult to choose with so many good options, we would have preferred to order several dishes 😄 Yes, it has its price, everyone will find something for it and it is very well prepared. Absolutely recommended!

Ein traditioneller Gasthof in Mittenwald mit toller Atmosphäre und absolut köstlicher Küche. Der Service sehr gut und freundlich. Vielleicht aus all diesen Gründen auch ziemlich teuer, trotzdem muss man abends Glück haben, um einen freien Tisch zu bekommen. Pfannkuchensuppe und Schwabenpfanne absolut zu empfehlen

Good food,great place to rest and take a break,stunning view.👍 Even if there are lot of people around it’s quiet and very relaxing to sit and enjoy your beer. The waitress was attentive and kind. We had just the main dishes with salads and non alcoholic beer from the tap. I had pork in demi glaze with stewed red cabbage and a potato dumpling,and my husband had a pork knuckle which he described as the best he had on our trip. We enjoyed our meal very much as everything was so well balanced with flavor and spices. Definitely a place I would recommend as it’s far from the crowd and such a relaxing spot with very good food.

Wir warenüber die Jahre hinweg immer im Gasthof Gries, wenn wir in Mittenwald waren. Das Essen war jedesmal gut und der Preis dem Essen angepasst. Diesmal war es leider eine Enttäuschung. Wir bestellten Schweinebraten. Dieser bestand aus 2 dünnen Scheiben Braten, einem sehr kleinen Knödel und einem gehäuften Esslöffel Blaukraut.Soße war kaum vorhanden. Das ganze war lauwarm. Der Geschmack mittelmäßig. Der Preis: 16,90 Euro !!! Eine Beilagenänderung (Salat statt Blaukraut) war leider auch nicht möglich. Wir werden von zukünftigen Besuchen absehen.

Toller Service, sehr gutes Essen und schönes Ambiente.

Das Essen war hervorragend und oberlecker. Auch die Bedienung war sehr nett und freundlich, nur eine junge Dame war unfreundlich. Sehr schön war auch, dass es Live-Musik gab. In der linken Gaststube, wo wir saßen, war es arg dunkel und unangenehm kühl.

Top Personal in der Küche wie am Tisch!! Liebevolle Gestaltung von Gastraum und Speisen. Wohlfühlen leicht gemacht bei raffinierten Besonderheiten (Münchner Schnitzel, Kaiserschmarrn) und Standards (Suppen, besonders guter Kartoffelstampf) - Tradition trifft Innovation. Daher sehr gut besucht, Vorbestellung sinnvoll. Bargeld einstecken!

Wir sind zufällig in Mittenwald angekommen und hatten noch ein wenig Hunger. Gasthof Gries ist ein uriges nettes Lokal. Es was war fast voll, dennoch haben wir einen wunderschönen Tisch bekommen. Essen war superlecker, der Service nett und freundlich. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Sehr schönes bayrisches Gasthaus in der Nähe der Ortsmitte von Mittenwald. Der Außenbereich ist groß und liegt zwischen dem Restaurant und einer nicht allzustark befahrenen Straße. Die Speisekarte bietet eine Wochenkarte und diverse Klassiker - inkl. einem Abschnitt für vegetarische Gerichte. Service war flott und zuvorkommend, das Essen lecker & frisch und die Preise fair. Wichtig zu wissen ist, dass man ausschließlich bar bezahlen kann.

Wirklich schöner Gasthof mit vorzüglichem bayrischen Essen. Besonder zu empfehlen ist der Kaiserschmarrn! Teilweise auch mit Live Musik im Aussenbereich.

… wir sind als Gruppe (6 Personen) das erste Mal im Gasthof Gries … sind am Samstag, der erste Mal, sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, auch ohne Reservierung, begrüßt worden … der Service und die Atmosphäre im Gasthof ist sehr freundlich … das Essen ist sehr zu empfehlen, jedes Gericht wird frisch zubereitet … die Bedienungen (Claudia, die Tochter von Claudia und Alex) sind trotz dem täglichen Stress immer sehr freundlich und für alle Gäste ansprechbar … dieser Gasthof ist sehr zu empfehlen, wir kommen auch am fünften Tag wieder

Ein sehr schöner liebevoll eingerichteter Gasthof. Das Essen war fantastisch! Das Personal ist super freundlich und sehr schnell. Wir waren ohne Reservierung zu Gast und haben echt Glück gehabt einen Tisch zu bekommen. Die Reservierung ist wirklich zu empfehlen.

Gutes Essen, freundliche Bedienung und tolles Ambiente mitten in Mittenwald. In 2 Tagen 2x zur Abend gegessen und einmal Mittag und sooo zufrieden.

Sehr lecker, schnelle und freundliche Bedienung und sogar Live-Musik. Einfach richtig urig und angenehm! Ist wohl auch ein kleiner Geheimtipp, da auch viele Einheimische zum Essen dort einkehren. Der hirschgulasch hat es uns angetan! Nur die Preise sind - je nach Gericht - etwas hoch angesetzt. Aber auch die Gastronomie leidet eben sehr unter der wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung. Alles in allem, wir kommen gerne wieder!

Waren heute seit langem wieder mal im Gasthof Gries. Die teilweise schlechten Bewertungen hatten uns ehrlicherweise abgeschreckt. Für uns in keinster Weise nachvollziehbar!!! Sehr leckeres Essen und absolut toller Service!!! Super Preis-Leistungsverhältnis!!! Sehr gemütliche Einrichtung. Wir hatten einen wunderschönen, genussvollen Abend und kommen auf jeden Fall wieder! Die schlechteste Haxe in Mittenwald, aber leider auch die teuerste. Sie war leider sehr zäh und kaum zu kauen, das sehr kleine Stück „Kruste“ war wie Gummi. Als die Bedienung am Ende fragte, ob es geschmeckt hat, antwortete sie auf meine höfliche Kritik, dass die Haxe leider zäh war nur, dass ich heute der erste bin, der sich darüber beschwert. Mein bestelltes Radler war leider derart hell und süß das ist wohl fast nur aus Limonade bestanden hat. Nach meiner Bitte, es mit einem Schuss Bier aufzufüllen, kam es genauso hell und süß zurück. Erst beim Zahlen wurden wir darauf hingewiesen, dass man nicht mit Karte bezahlen kann. Für ein derart großes Gasthaus sehr ungewöhnlich wie ich finde, und das irgendwo in Hinweisschild zu sehen war. Die Kellnerin meinte nur, dass es wohl in der Karte steht, keiner von uns hat es jedoch gesehen, vielleicht stand es im Kleingedruckten bei den Ziffern mit den Allergiehinweisen. Die Freundlichkeit der Kellnerin war hart an der Grenze, es kann überall mal etwas schief gehen oder nicht perfekt sein. aber durch etwas Freundlichkeit oder eine nette Geste kann eine gute Servicekraft, das wieder ausbügeln, was hier leider nicht im Ansatz versucht wurde. Die zwei Sterne gibt es für den Blick auf den Karwendel, wenn man draußen sitzt. Es gibt in Mittenwald deutlich bessere Restaurants, den Gasthof Gries kann ich definitiv nicht empfehlen.

Eine Enttäuschung... Waren hier essen nach einer Wanderung. Das Ambiente an sich war gut aber die Portionen beim Essen viel zu klein und Bedienung etwas unfreundlich. Preis Leistungsverhältnis stimmt hier absolut nicht. Macht euch am besten selber ein Bild davon. Ich kann es nicht weiterempfehlen

De Kaiserschmarrn war ein Traum. Die Terrasse weg vom Trubel der Fußgängerzone.

Perfekte Mittagspause nach der Wanderung. Tolles Essen, sehr nette Bedienung, immer wieder gerne.

Wir waren zweimal Gast im Gasthof Gries und es war einfach zwanzig Sterne wert. Die Terrasse lädt zum verweilen ein. Das Essen ist ausgezeichnet und von der Menge her so, dass man angenehm gesättigt ist. Das Personal ist freundlich, aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Die Stimmung ist locker trotz der großen Nachfrage an Sitzplätzen. In Anbetracht der gestiegenen Kosten, die uns alle betreffen, sind die Preise vollkommen berechtigt. Warm welcome, serve local Mittenwald pils on draught. Had the French onion soup to start, very good, followed by pork medallions, cooked perfectly.

We visited this restaurant this evening and had a wonderful time. Our waitress was friendly, efficient and welcoming. We enjoyed the Cordon Bleu Schnitzel and the Pork Filet Medallions, and both meals were excellent. The meals served to other guests while we were there looked delicious. A man at the table beside us ordered crispy pork knuckle and it looked a complete contrast to what we had recently eaten in the Alpenrose on Saturday last. The meat was tender, falling off the bone and he looked really happy. We will be visiting the Gasthof Gries again this week.

We enjoyed our lunch here, we found the waitress to be helpful & friendly. Menu was traditional Bavarian cuisine. We had a beef & vegetable soup with dumplings which the flavours were fairly average, we then had the schnitzel which was quite nice, served with the Bavarian style sauteed potatoes with bacon....they were delicious (Bratkartoffeln) Be aware credit cards are not accepted here. Recommended

We stopped her to order Kaiserschmarrn before our trip home and we were very pleased we did: my friend went as far as to say that it was the best Kaiserschmarrn he'd ever tasted! The views are beautiful and the local bier is served here. I would also recommend the Spinatknödeln which were very good.

So having spent the day at Garmisch we called in at Mittenwald for a quick look around and a bite to eat. Having walked up and down the main street and completed our retail therapy we were not over enthused by the menu's on offer. After 6 days of Austrian/Germanic cuisine my wife was looking for a change and something simple. Egg & chips was her inkling and after finding our way to the carved statue of a violin appearing out of a tree trunk we thought we had found her desire at the Gasthof Gries. When we had eventually obtained a menu in English there on the first page was three eggs and potatoes. That was her sorted or so we thought. The service was not outstanding and their ability to converse in English was as poor as our effort to converse in German (both my wife and I did French all those years ago). Anyway it transpired that the menu we were using was old and they no longer offered the dish that my wife wanted. Since we already had drinks in front of us we decided on Holzfallersteak and the universal Wiener Schnitzel. It took a very long time to arrive and in fact it had gone dark outside by the time it arrived and we were both hungry enough to eat a scabby horse. So they have about 15 bench tables outside and on a warm evening it is very pleasant. Also inside looked warm and inviting and so this is also an option. We found the service to be indifferent towards us (and we were not the only table trying to attract the waitresses attention) but the food was good, tasty, plentiful and very reasonably priced. We didn't stay for desert (probably would have arrived with the coffee and buns of breakfast) as we had some Ice cream at the apartment with our name on it. Oh and they only take payment in cash and so ensure you have enough for your meal as credit cards are not an option.

We ate here since the restaurant is owned by the Mittenwalder Brewery, but decided that we much prefer the food at the Post Keller restaurant which is located at the actual brewery....

Good food, nice Bavarian atmosphere, good service - all at a reasonable price. Our hotel recommended and they were right.
