Gasthaus Zum Eisernen Steg in Frankfurt am Main

Typical Äppelwoi inn right on the Main at the bridge that gives it its name. Delicious food, great cider and apple secco :-) Clean and cozy, friendly service. We'll be back.

Very nice inn! The food tasted great and the prices are okay!

I happened to visit this place when it was time to eat. I was a little nervous because it was my first restaurant in Germany, but fortunately the owner was friendly. Two women ate frankfurter schnitzel, mixed salad, and pumpkin soup, but we were full. If I had eaten dessert with a drink like the Germans do, I would have been full. The salad had a sweet and sour taste and was very refreshing. When I looked up Frankfurt Schnitzel later, I found out that the sauce on top was a green sauce from the Hessen region. It's salty, so it's delicious when dipped in potatoes.

We were always here the last two times we were in Frankfurt and are still at peace. The food is very authentic and delicious. The cider just as good. It's better to reserve in advance, especially if there are trade fairs or events in town. The service was very nice and attentive!

My wife and young daughter were denied access to the toilet even though they wanted to pay for it. They then claimed, in a very derogatory and condescending tone, that their toilets were broken and that they should use the public toilets opposite (which were still closed). This “service” only suggests the rest of this restaurant, which is certainly just as inedible as the bitter old lady behind the counter.

A cozy little restaurant and certainly a recommendation for good home cooking.

Excellent traditionnal restaurant located just in front of the iron bridge. With typical German cooking. I would advise the "Frankfurter Schnitzel" with a side salad and the local beer ! The restaurant is calm and small. Price for that meal was reasonable @ 30 euros. The service is fast and professional.

For 16 EUR or similar there was a maximum of 100 gr in my salad with chicken breast. Chicken shreds... The different schnitzel variants from our colleagues, however, looked good. The outdoor area on the busy street and between parked cars didn't convince me either.

We went there to eat after arriving in Frankfurt (went there on vacation a month ago). The host was very nice (despite me trying my best with my terribly broken german) the food was delicious and we weren't hurried out of the restaurant despite us taking our time to eat and being the last customers. It is very conveniently located, near the iron bridge and the atmosphere is authentic! Me and my family had a great time! (The host also very kindly put the candles my mom brought to celebrate my sisters' birthday on her dessert :)

Beautiful inn in a great location directly on the Museumsufer and the Eiserner Steg with a view of Mainhattan. We had a schnitzel with green sauce and the beer goulash, both highly recommended! The wine was well chilled, as a Rheinhessen my eyelid always twitches a little when it is poured exactly on Eich, but the Hessians don't know any better ;o) Nice people, everything is great!

A few minutes' walk from the old town, just over the Eiserner Steg (pedestrian bridge) you come directly to the restaurant. Fresh, good cuisine away from fries and convenience - just really good. There are regional and German dishes at normal prices and a great wine selection. The dining room is rustic and cozy and there is also an outdoor area. Absolutely recommended.

We wanted to take a table. But first we wanted to go to the toilet because we had been out since midday and had an intestinal illness. After we came from the toilet we were told that we had to ask for it. A very authentic German restaurant. The two German owners are very friendly. The kitchen owner cooks all the dishes himself. The pork knuckle in this restaurant can be said to be unrivaled in the world.

Nice restaurant right on the Main. The service was very nice and accommodating. We ordered several drinks, hand cheese with music, a knuckle and a small dessert. All dishes were very tasty. We especially enjoyed the knuckle. Overall, a nice evening.

The owner asked us to move even though we had already been cashed in and said we were leaving. That was unnecessary. We were brought 2 bruschettas instead of one.

First of all, I did NOT eat there. It's about another incident: I was out with a group of girls on a Saturday afternoon. I urgently had to go to the toilet and there wasn't one in sight - except for a locked Dixi. I saw this restaurant, walked in and went straight to the counter and asked sincerely and kindly: "May I please use the toilet here, I'm happy to pay one euro?"... The taller, older man, with graying hair (I assume it was the innkeeper) answered seriously: "Give me 2 euros!"... I admit, I was taken aback - but didn't say anything else because I had to so urgently and was ready to pay 2 euros...so I took my backpack off my back to get another euro...then he pushed the sentence, "And if it doesn't suit you, then go somewhere else"! I then asked what this sentence was supposed to mean, after all I was just about to pay the 2 euros for going to the toilet - when I asked this question, he threw me out!!! "You can go and find something else!" I'm still perplexed. The store was neither full nor was I unfriendly. In my opinion there was no reason to reject me. This is about a basic need in which women are simply at a much greater disadvantage because we can't pee "hidden" everywhere and a landlord who so brazenly exploits his status at that moment. This feels really demeaning. I went 20 meters further into a French restaurant, this nice gentleman not only let me AND a friend use the toilet, but also showed with a hand gesture that we could leave the euro in! I'm not judging the food and ambience here, but... Helpfulness and humanity! It's terrible to even have to write such a review.

Very nice place, the waiters are very friendly, they recommend you well and the treatment is very good. The recommended dishes are very delicious.

If you cross the iron footbridge in Frankfurt, you will find the restaurant of the same name on the other side of the Main. The menu offers delicious Frankfurt specialties and a good selection of drinks... traditionally, you eat Frankfurter Schnitzel with Äppelwoi and then a medlar. The innkeepers are very friendly and accommodating and the prices are absolutely fair compared to the other side of the Main.

To put it politely, let's just say the waiter wasn't exactly friendly. He thought it was wrong that when we brought us coffee we asked for a bottle of water. When I asked him for a coffee that he hadn't brought us the first time, he said, "Are you sure?" And when I went to ask him for a packet of sugar for that coffee that he had brought us without a spoon and with nothing, he almost scolded me. When paying, he did not allow us to pay by card, although he had the dataphone on the bar, right in front of me. At least the toilets were clean.

Authentic German vibe and traditional German cuisine. We tried the pork chop, the goulash and schnitzel.

Nice little inn with very friendly service. Small, fine selection of regional dishes. The food was very tasty, good quality, no convenience products. We had a very tasty goulash, great herring and great schnitzel with a very good green sauce and delicious homemade fried potatoes. The price-performance ratio is good, absolutely recommended if you want something rustic.

Although the food was pretty good and I can’t complain, one of the waiters there showed really ignorant and racist behaviour which is unacceptable. I am someone who never writes a review but this experience just made the whole place a no go for anyone who is a foreigner here I guess… The man needs some education!

This is a very good restaurant, the food tasted phenomenal, top quality! The nice thing is that there are many tourist restaurants in Frankfurt that cook poorly. This restaurant is also touristy in terms of location but still has great quality! Keep it up! Nice staff and there is also light beer.

We had dinner there on Saturday evening. The food was super delicious. The side salad in particular is a dream. And despite it being busy, the service was friendly and attentive.

Wir waren vergangenen Freitag mit Freunden zu fünft im neu eröffneten Gasthaus am Rosengarten im Westpark zum Mittagessen, u.a. ich im Rollstuhl. Der Service hat perfekt geklappt, obwohl wir bereits eine Woche zuvor reserviert hatten. Uns wurde extra ein Platz angeboten, der für Rollstuhl besonders geeignet war. Die Wirtinnen und das Servicepersonal waren äußerst freundlich und zuvorkommend, auch dann, als wir kleine Sonderwünsche äußerten. Man hatte rundum das Gefühl, dass man hier herzlich willkommen ist. Fast jeder von uns hat etwas anderes gegessen und alle waren mit ihrer Wahl rundum zufrieden. Besonders gefallen hat mir die liebe volle und phantasievolle Auswahl vieler Beilagen, z.B. Petersilienkartoffeln zum Wiener Schnitzel und Gulasch vom Rind mit Serviettenknödel. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

rude staff. I went in to ask if I can buy something to use the bathroom instead. They agreed and I bought a water for 3.5€. When I came back from the toilet they told me “this is not a public bathroom, do not come here again”. If this place would be the last one on Earth I’d rather start hunting than eating there! They could easily say no instead of being this rude!

We ate our food in this restaurant, but were more than disappointed by the unfriendly older lady who served us. When you work in service, I expect a certain level of professionalism and not that we are treated like second-class citizens!

Rude guy rejected me. I wanted a little something to drink and had to go to the toilet and was turned away. Probably doesn't need any customers.

As strangers, we came here spontaneously and because of the good reviews. What should be highlighted is the extremely friendly service. On the recommendation of the host, we ordered schnitzel with Frankfurt green sauce. Although the meat didn't seem to be breaded locally, we liked the combination. Next time I would still like to try the ox breast. During our stay (weekday evenings) the restaurant wasn't overly busy, but the atmosphere was still cozy and rustic!

Discovered this place through a delivery service at first, and the food was good. Second time trying it, this time to dine in, and it didn’t disappoint 🙏🏼 Friendly staff, good food, location, clean. 5 stars all around. No need to walk any further if you are craving German food.

I am tempted keep it to my secret location, otherwise it will be overcrowded... Anyway, the best haxe in town, honey coloured, crispy exterior and soft interior. All the right way. Rose apple cider to round it up. You will never need anything else.

The two of us came for lunch during the week, without a reservation. The restaurant was well attended, but not too crowded. We were served in a friendly manner and the food was very tasty, even the homemade lemonade had a delicious peppermint and lemon flavor without being too sweet. Parking spaces can be found directly along the Main or next to the restaurant on Schulstrasse in the Sachsenhausen car park, after just under 100 meters. You can pay by card or cash. The toilets were also clean. The restaurant is not barrier-free.

Super recommended site! We found it by chance and we loved it. It is a restaurant where you can find typical German dishes at a reasonable price, good quality, homemade and delicious. We recommend Frankfurter Schnitzel and Frankfurter Rippchen, both dishes were very delicious. For dessert we ordered Orangen-Mandarinen Crumble, highly recommended. The staff's attention is very good, the waiter is very friendly and speaks a few words in Spanish. They also have the menu translated (well translated). The place is relatively small, but there is usually room, the food is very comfortable.

Great location and you can make reservations at short notice. I especially wanted to try the Frankfurt Green Sauce and chose this place, which was the most affordable compared to other restaurants. The food was okay, didn't blow me away, but I was full and satisfied. Finally, I shared the Kaiserschmarrn with plum compote with a friend. It was definitely too sweet because all the sugar made it crunch in my teeth. But the atmosphere and the staff are even more pleasant.

Small, rustic restaurant. Food excellent. Portions very well measured and not too small or too big. The taste is simply top notch. We can highly recommend the cheese spaetzle. It's not a huge dining room, and the music is only playing lightly in the background, so it's not too loud. 10/10.

Incredibly unfriendly staff! Me and a friend of mine just had to go to the toilet. We even offered to pay. I think that should be normal, especially with 2 girls who asked very politely. The reason they gave us was that they were too full, but the restaurant was empty. Simply cheeky

Ho prenotato via internet questo locale prima della partenza dall'Italia per la cena di Capodanno. Siamo io, mio marito, mia figlia e una coppia di amici. Arriviamo alle 20.30 in punto e ordiniamo 4 spaetzle al formaggio con cipolle fritte e insalata di contorno, saporitissimi, 1 piatto di costine di Francoforte con crauti alle mele e purè, in verità un po' insipide, 1 schnitzler alla Wiener con patate arrosto e un'altra con salsa verde, abbastanza gustose. Per dolce prendiamo 2 crumble di arancia e mandarino su crema di vaniglia e cannella, croccanti al punto giusto, e 1 gelato al cioccolato. Con 4 birre grandi e 1 coca cola paghiamo in tutto 174 euro. Alle 23 sazi e soddisfatti, lasciamo il locale ché sta chiudendo, per andare sulle rive del Meno a vedere i fuochi d'artificio. Consigliato

Uriges Gasthaus. Preis-Leistung ok. Man scheint auch auf gute Produkte zu achten, zumindest laut Karte. Abgesehen davon, dass der Feldsalat nicht gut gewaschen war und der Umgang der weiblichen Bedienung mit Gästen mehr als zu wünschen übrig lässt. Auch brachte sie automatisch ein großes Glas Bier, ohne zu fragen, was gewünscht sei. Die für mich unangenehme Musik war zu laut, bat, sie leiser zu machen (saß nahe d Lautsprecher und wollte eh nicht lange bleiben). Schade, gut gelegenes Lokal, aber es sind Abstriche zu machen.

Schon nachmittags bei der Reservierung für den Abend fallen uns die total netten Wirtsleute auf. Abends bestellen wir Kassler Rippchen und Schweinshaxe, jeweils mit Sauerkraut und Kartoffelbrei. Hervorragend! Es ist auch ein gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Schönes uriges Ambiente im Lokal. So mögen wir das. Angenehmer Softjazz.
