Gasthaus zum "Bier-Adam" in Berchtesgaden

Our absolute favorite restaurant. A visit here is part of every visit to Berchtesgaden. Fantastic service. Very tasty dishes throughout and a very cozy inn. We are very satisfied every time.

We were there in September. The waitress was very accommodating, everything was on time (it got full quickly at lunchtime) and we really enjoyed the food. Clear recommendation!

Good food, lack of organization during busy times

Based on the external impression, we expected a rustic old Bavarian inn. The interior is nicely furnished, but with bright tablecloths and modern table lamps, it has a more upscale atmosphere. Food was rather mediocre. Sour Lüngerl was rather sweet, but the potato salad was sour. But that was our taste, maybe someone else likes it just that way.

Great restaurant, very comfortably furnished and very, very friendly staff and boss. Everything is freshly prepared and beautifully presented. Menu and drink selection, absolutely great!!!Thank you for the great gourmet moments in your restaurant

Rustic inn with hearty cuisine and good beer. The service was very friendly and didn't bother us even in the busiest times. The Gröstel tastes really good. The Kaiserschmarrn and Aofelschmarrn are also delicious and made with plenty of butter.

Best kitchen is here! Waiters work is super friendly and warm welcome! Prices is touristic - higher than middle. And CASH ONLY! Shame that lots of people will skip this place because you won’t have official income with simple card riders. It’s out of time you will loose more and more people. Not sure it’s legal in Europe

Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant was a very disappointing experience. When we entered the restaurant, we stood unnoticed in the entrance area for several minutes until an employee finally came over to us. She asked if we had a reservation, which we said no. We were then asked to wait a moment. However, this moment dragged on significantly longer while the employee first checked in at two tables and then took orders from other guests. We continued to stand in the middle of the entrance and felt completely ignored. Shortly afterwards, another employee came up to us and asked again about a reservation. Here too we said no and only received the unclear answer that she would “come back straight away”. Unfortunately that didn't happen. Instead, a group of twelve people who had apparently made a reservation were served quickly. Tables were prepared for this group, although several other tables had now become free that could have been assigned to us. After what felt like an eternity and still no attention or information about whether and when we could get a table, we had enough and decided to leave the restaurant. It would have been completely understandable if we had been told directly that there was currently no capacity for us. But to be treated so ignored and unprofessional instead is absolutely unacceptable. Unfortunately we can't say anything about the food as we had to leave the restaurant without ordering. However, this experience was a disappointment across the board and leaves us with a very negative impression. We would have liked much more politeness, transparency and organization.

Let's make it short: main courses and desserts were great, the service was quick, friendly and with a smile. Absolute recommendation.

A terrible restaurant! The service is just terrible - two older "waiters", a blonde and a brunette, behave like dead souls. First came a couple who they ignored for a long time without even offering them a table. Then the three of us came and exactly the same thing - 15 minutes of complete ignorance, they just walked past without paying any attention to us. When we finally decided to sit down at a table ourselves, they started shouting at us like real bullies. The question is: If everything is reserved, why can't you say so right away? Why do you have to waste guests' time, belittle them and provoke conflict? Complete lack of professionalism and basic respect for customers. I wouldn't recommend anyone to visit this place. Disgusting behavior and a terrible atmosphere. Better stay away!

Nachdem wir schon mal dort gegessen haben war es unsere erste Wahl wieder hinzugehen. Etwas unbeholfen bzw. schon fast unhöflich war das Service. Trotz höflicher Anfrage bezüglich Umbestellung wurde man belehrt und darauf hin gewiesen, dass er Koch genug zu tun hat. Leider was das Essen auch nicht besonders schmackhaft.

Nice Bavarian inn that had a certain cozy atmosphere despite the influx of tourists and had everything under control in terms of service. The food was also very good.

No customer-oriented service, food poorly seasoned and dripping with fat. We lay there with stomach pains for the rest of the night. Very unfortunate and unexpected for us. We won't go there again.

Disaster, I don't recommend it to anyone. We and the table next to us were served lukewarm food. It took forever for the food to come back. When you asked a friendly question, you got a snippy answer from the waitress. You just expect a certain level of friendliness. Never again. Value for money 0 out of 0 stars.

We were here today for the second time this week. The service is great. The food tastes great and is more than enough. I have the feeling that the chef loves his job, as do the ladies in the service. The price-performance ratio is still right here. We'll be back. I also love paying with cash.

It's a shame, we were inspired by the Google reviews to eat there. We sent back two meals that were totally over salted. No response from either the chef or the service. The spaetzle is watery and tasteless. Overall, a very old and sleepy impression, everything is left standing and not recommended.

We had lunch here recently. The waitresses were very friendly and brought us our drinks quickly. The food was very tasty. However, the dumplings with half duck (dish of the day) were a bit small. Otherwise, the restaurant is comfortably furnished, but the prices are a bit expensive. Nevertheless, we can recommend it because the dishes were very tasty.

The best food we had during our stay in Berchtesgaden!!! They serve delicious German/Bavarian dishes. I live in Munich, so I can say that the food here is traditional and authentic, and not some mishmash for tourists. The servers were also friendly and attentive. I will definitely eat here again when in Berchtesgaden. Reservations are recommended as the restaurant was quite full.

Bavarian cuisine of a high standard. Attentive professional service. But getting there leaves a lot to be desired. The parking garage in Berchtesgaden is confusing and poorly signposted. Apparently there are only staff in a call center somewhere who don't have any details about the parking spaces and don't seem to have much interest. Blah blah, I'm sorry, etc. You experience the shortage of skilled workers first hand. Actually, Berchtesgaden deserves better.

Stopped by at short notice and were turned away. Been here repeatedly over the last 10 years. I have never been rejected so unkindly. Not again.

We were there late at lunchtime, there was no problem with a dog. We didn't need €2 for extra cutlery and €1.5 for reordering, but it does bother me.

The service outside was a disaster... You are already sitting at the table with 4 people and are rudely turned away. The good woman probably had no desire to increase the inn's sales... Never again!!!!

Long-established restaurant in the center of Berchtesgaden. The roast pork was totally over salted. The waitress asked me if everything was OK. I told her that the roast pork was totally over salted, then she said that they had already sold the dish a lot that day. Unfortunately, the statement didn't make the roast pork any sweeter. Apparently the cook was in love; people at the next table were complaining about the soup being too salty.

Very friendly service in a typical Bavarian establishment invites you to enjoy the dishes. We were completely satisfied and were well looked after. The dishes were very tasty and the price is okay.

The food was overall okay but nothing more. I cannot understand the superlatives in the reviews. I was served a decent meal (roast pork with bread dumplings and coleslaw) - just like I've had in other restaurants. The food was average, but it didn't make you want to cheer. The work organization was, simply put, an absolute disaster. We had reserved a table for 7:30 p.m. and initially stood on our feet at the entrance. Despite having a reservation, we waited in line for 20 minutes until someone finally took care of us. We ended up getting a table which was quite drafty due to the open door for guests at the front of the restaurant. Because it was a little cooler outside that evening, I finally had to put on my jacket because it was just too cold at our table in the restaurant. After 45 minutes the waitress appeared to take our order. After another 35 minutes our food arrived - but unfortunately not at the same time. Since there were only two people working for the entire operation inside and outside on this Saturday evening, it was ultimately not surprising that nothing seemed to work at all. The highlight of the evening was our waitress, whose heels were crooked despite her bandaged leg. She was polite and courteous and was still in a good mood despite the stress. Of course, she still couldn't save the situation. The bottom line is a place you only go to once.

Unfortunately, the service was so unfriendly that we lost our appetite. Then we went to another restaurant, where we were served nicely and ate well.

This restaurant is a disaster. Service disaster. After 45 minutes there was still no drink at the table. Service very unfriendly. Food was below average, how this place can have a 4.7 rating is beyond me.

Right in the city center. There is one main service without this, all other ladies are helpless. But nice. A little more attention to new customers wouldn't be a bad thing. We were able to observe that people walked past people several times without saying a little: "I'll be there in a moment." You feel really stupid. Some have left...that would be me too. What's nice is that when it comes to burgers, they ask for medium o (not everyone does that). AND there are sensible knives available for this 👍 The schnitzel was well seasoned, and that was it. We were hungry and didn't want to look any longer. As always, everyone has to have their own experience.

It's really comfortable to sit in and the staff is really nice! The food is clearly overpriced and the portions are very small. But the waiting times are really catastrophic, when we wanted to pay I had to point it out three times. In total we waited over 45 minutes until we were finally able to pay (according to the notice)!

Food was good, dessert was oversalted, that can happen. We then politely asked if there was a schnapps as compensation, then the condition was unfriendly and rejected, because we got a new dessert.😔

Sehr sympathische Bedienung, schöne Lage mitten in Berchtesgaden, Lokal innen sehr gepflegt und ansprechend. Das Essen leider nicht wirklich lecker, zunächst Käsenockerl nach Berchtesgadener Art in Konsistenz und Geschmack leider unappetitlich, so dass wir uns zur Versöhnung unserer Mägen noch einen Kaiserschmarrn bestellt hatten: Dieser geschmacklich sehr angenehm, aber leider im Fett geschwommen und nicht annähernd der Fluffigkeit eines knusprigen traditionellen Kaiserschmarrns entsprechend, sondern einfach ein dicker Pfannkuchen in Stücke gerissen. Auf jeder Berghütte weitaus gekonnter.

After a short wait we were allowed to take a seat. The friendly waitress took the order quite quickly. The grilled knuckle and tagliatelle with chili were very tasty.

A really great restaurant right in the pedestrian zone. We had a farmer's feast and a white sausage burger - delicious and great portions! Great value for money 👍 Photos are so pink because of the awning 😊

We had a nice lady who served and advised us. The dishes were all delicious.

Food was very good. However, it really bothers me that you are not allowed to pay by card, which in my opinion is outdated and customer-unfriendly. The small card says that card payments are not possible at the moment and we ask for your understanding. No, I haven't, because this is always on the note on the table and so "not possible at the moment" is simply a lie, you don't have any device for card payment at all (this was confirmed when asked). To be honest, you don't want to pay by card. (If card payment is not possible, I only give a maximum of 3 stars because of customer unfriendliness.)

Lots of choice, large portions and very good and tasty food for a very good price. The waitresses are attentive, very friendly and also have funny sayings. Highly recommended, especially as a holidaymaker in the area.

The four of us were outside on the terrace and had a little something to eat and drink. The service was very nice and funny. The food was very tasty and hot. When I went to the toilet I took a look at the beautiful and rustic restaurant. We can really recommend this restaurant 😄

Asked for an English menu, brought one and never came back. I won't be going here again. Update. They tried to get this review deleted. Sitting defamation, but it was my experience and my opinion. If you want to change people's opinions, I might listen and read.

Always worth a visit. Food first class. It is still cooked fresh from scratch. The sauces are not a convenience product, as the roast “gets to know” the sauce while braising and not just when it is served on the plate. For us, it's always a must at the beginning and end of our vacation. Or simply put, whenever BGD is due

We ate there several times and each time it was delicious. The service was very friendly.

Completely uninterested in me and my family as guests. The hostess seemed very uninterested in us; for example, I had to ask three times whether we would still receive the wine we ordered. In the end I asked for the bill which turned out to be wrong. To top it off, the owner has asked Google to remove my review because my honest review is being dismissed as gossip.

Ready-made sauce and dumplings out of the package for €18, well, not exactly what I mean by traditional Bavarian cuisine.

In itself a good restaurant, except for the service, which was absolutely wrong! The food is also okay, but I've eaten in many better restaurants!

I had the knuckle. The dumplings gave the impression that they were convenience products. The crust on the knuckle was not a crust but hard and chewy. I think it's a shame that such food is offered in Berchtesgaden, with so many guests eating locally. I will steer clear of Beer Adam in the future. This is my personal experience and my opinion! Now I have received a message that my experience and opinion should be deleted. Even though this happened over a year ago, I don't understand it

I am very sorry. After 30 minutes in an extremely overheated dining room, we were unnoticeably not served. Admittedly the store was full… but the table next door was accommodating their orders before us. We were able to help all of the waitresses as well as hand out the food, which looked really delicious, but not a single one could come to our table.

On a small paper - in case you read it- they say that you Cannot pay by card at the Moment. We asked why and they answered that the walls are to Thick for the signal. The other waitor Said, that it is usual for years to pay cash. Incredible. This is Germany in 2024. we left the Restaurant without taking anything.

Unfortunately we were not able to change our order although the waitress made a mistake with our food. The food didn’t served at the same time and the waitress was not polite which made things worst.

Came here on our final night in Berchtesgaden and loved it. Food was excellent and homely. Service was great, a bit on the slow side, but we were happy to wait and enjoy the scenery. Would definitely come back.

Wir wollten im Biergarten nur ein frisches Helles trinken. Wir wurden aber aus dem Gasthaus komplementiert. Die Begründung war, dass dafür zu wenig Plätze vorhanden wären. Es wäre nur in Kombination mit Essen möglich. Meine Frage ist nun: Wo steht das? Der Profit steht im Vordergrund, mehr nicht. Auf Gastfreundschaft wird in dieser Einrichtung kein Wert gelegt.

Always happy, very tasty food, beautifully located. The staff is a little bit crazy, but that's moaning at a high level. And it's a shame that payment is only possible in cash. Many people go further. We'll definitely be back.

Anyone who visits Berchtesgaden must also visit Bier-Adam. Is the oldest inn in Berchtesgaden. Located in the heart of Berchtesgaden. I only drank one beer here. The food and portions are decent, which passed me by. Staff was very friendly.

Excellent restaurant in the middle of the Berchtesgaden market. Historic building with a lot of history, fantastic cuisine, very nice and extremely friendly staff. Extensive standard menu, seasonal special menu, everything very nicely presented and very tasty. You can tell that the kitchen is still cooking itself! Good value for money, large portions. Very clean and lovingly decorated, special requests are no problem at all when ordering. Really highly recommended

Friendly service. Delicious food from the special menu (dumplings in different variations) we had wild garlic or Kaspress dumplings. A poem. We felt very comfortable, we might come back on vacation if we have enough time. Then let's start with the sweet variants :-)
