Gasthaus Altes Schloss in Nürnberg

Now I was there for the third time within a week. I always ate soup. I liked it. 1 time Broudwäschd, 1 x Schaifälä with 3 Gniiidlä, and this evening roast brawn. Always very rich. I am satisfied and will come more often in the future. And in summer there is a garden. 😉

Since the Old Castle reopened in November 2024, this was our fourth time eating there. We were never disappointed on any of our visits. Here you can enjoy good Franconian cuisine in a cozy atmosphere at a fair price. Particularly recommended are: carp fillet, Schäuferla, apple fritters, sauerbraten, cheese spaetzle and beer goulash! The quality is right here. We hope for a long-term commitment from the current landlords and would be happy to come back.

We have been there twice now and are completely satisfied again. Schäufala with caraway, as it should be with thick sauce and slightly falling meat... a dream. Plus 2 dumplings and a side salad. Tafelspitz with horseradish sauce and 2 dumplings was also very good. As a dessert, the apple fritters were a perfect finish and we were completely satisfied. The beer with it is st. Georgenbräu what more could you want.

Food👍Service👎🏻were there for dinner, we ordered cordon bleu with fries (was delicious and the fries too), Schäufele (fantastic with crispy skin and delicious sauce) carp (medium 19€, tasted good but was dripping with fat 😞☹️) . Unfortunately, even after ordering, no one came. They would have liked to have had some more sauce for the Schäufele and something to drink. So everyone only had one drink. I would say good food, but the service and the fat carp should be worked on.

Good Franconian cuisine, the lamb's lettuce was very fresh and as it should be. Meat was tender and from a good butcher. Udo, we’d love to come back 😉

Spontaneous decision, we were able to get a seat at the main time without a reservation (a little tip: reserve in advance), good Franconian cuisine and also friendly service. Price performance top, large Schäuferle and beef roulade very good, very tasty dumplings and red cabbage 🤗

Impossible again, first you are ignored by the waitress for over 10 minutes then you get the menu with the question have you reserved when we said no she said the table is reserved there was no reserved sign on the table and no other place was offered even though there were still places available got up and left, you should think about the fact that you are a service provider and won't see us again

Drinks were served quickly, nice service at the counter, there were three of us and we all tried 3 schnitzel variations (children's schnitzel, cordon bleu with potato salad and turkey schnitzel). Upon request, we received the turkey schnitzel with lamb's lettuce and we all enjoyed it very tasty, we're coming definitely again..👌👍

There were four of us eating because of the gourmet block. As required, the voucher book was pointed out before ordering as it was probably a new operator and the discount was not accepted. Well, we've been there before and were hungry. Due to the very cold temperatures, the constantly open door made it draft like pike soup. Well, let's stay anyway. 4 x goose breast with dumplings and red cabbage. The first drinks arrive relatively quickly, although the service was more or less overwhelmed. When the food came, we discovered that the dumplings were still completely raw inside. When I complained, I was told that it had probably been taken from the wrong pot. It can happen sometimes. A mini bowl of red cabbage (about 3 tablespoons for 4 people) remained on the table while our food was taken away. 15 minutes later our plates came back, with hot dumplings and completely cold chicken breasts and cold sauce. Due to the stress of the service staff, a further complaint was not possible. We had to go to the counter to ask if we could get some more red cabbage. The beer we ordered after our meal came about 25 minutes later. Conclusion: almost 140€ (including 5 drinks and 4.50€ for the extra red cabbage). We left because we had a bad atmosphere and wanted to see the place from the outside. A clear recommendation.

Very tasty Franconian dishes. The service is very friendly, but sometimes seems a bit overwhelmed. With time and patience but very personable. A few parking spaces directly in front of the house. PS: There is light beer on tap, even if it's not on the menu ;)

Went there shortly after the reopening to try it out. Unfortunately we weren't satisfied. The team/kitchen seemed overwhelmed, although the service was very friendly. Waiting time for food 45 minutes. The food itself was mediocre (carp fillet consisted ONLY of crust, no meat on it, Schäuferle was hardly seasoned). The moderate prices and the very nice Franconian atmosphere are positive. Maybe it will get better with time!

Food, Franconian cuisine, tastes good. Prices are okay. Service friendly, still a bit slow but I think after a while it will get better and more routine. We'll be back 😀

The food was hot and perfectly fine. Unfortunately, the service is very slow, overwhelmed, etc. ...you sit for too long in front of empty glasses, and it takes a long time to pay... unfortunately we were also a bit cold, which is why our stay was very short. ..

There is nothing to complain about at the food, really very good! The operation is unfortunately overwhelmed, it could only remember very little and incorrectly brought the food and drinks accordingly. The landlord (boss?) Knows how to talk stupidly and destroy the last rest of the good atmosphere. Last but not least, the door was completely left open so that it was very cold and draft in the room. Payment was also a disaster. It was incorrectly narrowed and billed very tediously. No thanks, nothing! Once and never again!

We were there on the second day after reopening. It took a bit of time and the friendly lady in service was still rowing along quite a bit. BUT: It tasted great! Crusty roast, roast pork, sauerbraten - really perfect! A really cozy restaurant, the price is completely okay. We will definitely be back and are already looking forward to the beer garden in the summer

Everything freshly prepared and homemade. Friendly. A bit noisy in the garden (right on the street) which is a shame. Prices a bit high for the location. Otherwise recommended.

Things aren't going so smoothly after reopening, but the food is excellent. I have never eaten such a juicy and tasty cordon bleu.

We celebrated a confirmation in the next room and were very happy with the food and the ambience. The service was friendly and professional. The communication was very courteous and our vegetarian meal requests were easily accommodated.

We met there as a larger group for dinner. Everyone was pleasantly surprised throughout, starting with the cozy Franconian ambience, the diligent, friendly service and of course the delicious food. Whether wild garlic soup, fillet tips, asparagus tagliatelle or apple cakes for dessert, it was all a delight and a wonderful treat for the palate. Definitely highly recommended. We'd love to come back.

A culinary experience!We had our team meal and went here to eat. The chef asked us do you want to order from the menu or would you like to be surprised. Clearly surprising and I can tell you then the experience began. Incredibly delicious whether vegetarian cuisine or meat dishes there is something for everyone. Service top top. We will be back

Four of us were there because of the voucher book and what can I say, it was simply delicious. Plenty of portions and super nice service. Prices a bit high but regional fresh products. At the end there was a delicious drink that we took with us when we went out. We will definitely come again.

Excellent, the guest feels welcome from the start. The food is fantastic and the prices are reasonable. An absolute recommendation for every fan of Franconian cuisine and those who are not yet one.

We ate here for the first time today and have to say we are thrilled. Right from the start, the waiter greeted us in a friendly manner and invited us in. Time was immediately taken for us and there was also a little attention to the house. The service was really entertaining and friendly. You can tell that he likes and likes his job. So, first of all: I definitely can't understand some of the bad reviews here and I also think they're extremely exaggerated. The food, the service, the ambience - everything is in perfect order and you can tell that the new tenant really cares about all of his guests. When it comes to the regionality and freshness of the food - it probably couldn't get any fresher - basically in the field this morning and already on your plate at lunchtime. Very friendly hospitality with passion. Nice little garden. Attractive old restaurant. The menu is clear and the prices are slightly above average. The Franconian standards Schäuferle, Roulade and Sauerbraten were definitely delicious, beautifully prepared and worth the price. The soups (cauliflower and fish) were also highly recommended. We'll definitely come back again.

Unfortunately, nothing has improved with the new landlord. The portions were very clear and even a few herbs couldn't hide the fact that they were convenience products. Small portions and high prices alone do not make a star-rated kitchen. The innkeeper seemed hectic and overwhelmed to us, but moderately friendly. We have now tried the “Old Castle” twice with similar experiences each time. It's a shame, because the ambience would be really good.

The innkeeper serves a fish for €19, which requires a magnifying glass. We complained and went back, whereupon the innkeeper just turned the fish over and served it again to the rest of our guests. Then he accused our club of cheating, even though we weren't even there that weekend. To date there has been no apology. Yes, the landlord is very confident in himself and his cooking skills. But with 2 bratwursts with ice-cold potato salad for €10, it probably shouldn't be. In my opinion, the new tenant of the Old Castle has overpriced for mediocre food and is also a landlord who does not have himself or his temper under control. Since then, our lodge has decided not to entertain him.

I don't even know where to start... But I can say this much that a visit here is absolutely worth it. Food: the food is absolutely delicious and really fresh. Here the food is cooked and served as you would expect from Frank Rosin. Simply top class. Of course the food has its price but it is worth it! Service: everyone who works here is absolutely friendly, nice and attentive. Ambience: the inn is furnished in an absolutely rustic way and completely fulfills its purpose. The place is just as a place should be, absolutely functional and not flooded with any decoration. Conclusion: If you want fresh and excellently handcrafted cuisine, you MUST come here. Thanks to the whole Old Castle team.

My wife and I were there last Sunday with a couple we were friends with. We became aware of the restaurant through the “Schlemmerblock”. We noticed the old half-timbered construction in the entrance area, especially in the dining room. Together with the seating and tables (some of which showed significant signs of wear), it created a warm atmosphere. We made this clear from the first contact with the waiter. that we want to use the gourmet block. The waiter's answer: "We have only reopened a few weeks ago and have nothing to do with the gourmet block. This comes from the predecessor. We couldn't have known that! Then there were repeated discussions with the waiter about the subject of the gourmet block. He would lose at least 40-60 EUR in sales with us, he couldn't afford that with the best will in the world. We asked him whether it wouldn't have been better if he had provided clarification on the front door with a sign saying "Unfortunately Schlemmerblock is not accepted". Answer: "Then no one comes to us, they all turn around and leave again." I have the impression that he deliberately wants a few stupid people like us who simply don't want any stress to stay put and constantly think that we'll never come back! We felt ripped off. Never go there again! Wasted money! Since everyone's tastes are known to be different, I can only make a judgment based on my own taste. The food was mediocre and didn't blow my mind. I had Schäufele with dumplings and red cabbage. The sauce was too thick and the red cabbage, which was probably reheated to 300X, had a strange taste and color (black). The cook probably wanted to create a connection to the old castle walls.

Zweiter Weihnachtsfeiertag und zur vereinbarten Zeit 13 Uhr gab es keinen Karpfen mehr sowie keine Klöße. So wurden Semmelknödel zum etwas harten/ zähen Schäuferle serviert. Die Karte ist eher sehr klein, sowie die Portion der Pilz Ravioli. Überraschend war das bei der Leberknödel Suppe ein halber Leberknödel drin war - hatte ich so noch nie gesehen - bei dem Preis frech. So alles insgesamt geschmacklich nicht wirklich überzeugend (Käsespätzle, lauwarme Karpfenchips mit Salat). Schnitzel war dafür gut. Service war bemüht, jedoch nicht so professionell.

Absolut empfehlenswert! Super leckeres Essen mit viel Liebe zum Detail. Es wird alles frisch zubereitet und alles ist selbstgemacht, sogar das Ketchup! Das Essen schmeckt nicht nur lecker, sondern ist auch jedes Mal sehr hübsch angerichtet. Das gesamte Personal ist sehr herzlich, total fix und immer für ein nettes Pläuschchen zu haben. Auch allein fühlt man sich hier sehr wohl.

Super schön geführte Lokation mit tollem Essen. Für Feiern oder wenn man einen Tag Cora Raum benötigt, findet man ebenfalls schöne Räume. Rundum ein sehr gelungenes Essen mit top Service

Ich war am Samstag mit vier Freunden aus Hessen dort. Der Innenraum ist sehr gemütlich und urig. Die Speisekarte ist schön übersichtlich und enthält neben fränkischen Spezialitäten wie Schäuferle und Karpfen auch vegetarische Gerichte wie bspw. Ravioli und verschiedene Salate. Es ist für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei. Die Bestellungen konnten wir schnell aufgeben und die Vorspeisen kamen sehr zügig. Wir hatten Feldsalat, Apfel-Sellerie Süppchen und Rinder-Carpaccio. Alles schmeckte sehr gut. Auf meine Bitte bekamen wir auch sofort ein paar Scheiben Baguette zum Feldsalat, ohne Mehrpreis. Nach einer angenehmen Wartezeit kamen auch unsere Hauptgänge. Wir hatten Schäuferle mit Dunkelbiersauce und Kloß, 1/4 Ente mit Kloß und Blaukraut und Salat mit Rinderfiletstreifen. Uns schmeckte alles vorzüglich und meine hessischen Freunde, die noch nie vorher Schäuferle gegessen hatten, waren begeistert. Der Service war aufmerksam, allerdings wurde es immer voller und man merkte, daß die Servicekräfte dann teilweise etwas überfordert waren. Ich werte das aber nicht negativ, denn sie waren alle immer sehr nett. Da eine Freundin und ich am 16.12. Geburtstag hatten gab es noch einen Likör für jeden aufs Haus. Sehr nette Geste! Preislich nicht am unteren Segment aber die Produkte und die köstliche Zubereitung der Speisen war jeden Euro wert. Wir kommen wieder!

Sagenhaft! Alle waren satt und wunschlos glücklich :) Ein super Service hat den Besuch an diesem schönen Ort perfekt gemacht. Der Weihnachtsmarkt und die Kutschfahrt waren auch ein tolles Erlebnis für Erwachsene und Kinder. Nur zu empfehlen :)

Ich kam am Sonntag um 14 Uhr zur Schließzeit mit meinen 2 hungrigen Kindern auf den Fahrrädern an. Obwohl die Küche schon zu war, haben die beiden ihr Schnitzel und ich ein Schäuferle gekriegt. Und was soll ich sagen: Glücklicherweise, denn es war wirklich SUPER LECKER. Die Soße zum Schäuferle war fantastisch! Und die Kids waren restlos begeistert vom Schnitzel. Dazu ein total netter und aufgeschlossener Wirt. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Wir waren heute zum ersten Mal hier. Service super freundlich, Essen mega lecker. Ob Zwiebelrostbraten, Sellerieschnitzel, Suppe oder auch das Highlight aus meiner Sicht, das Carpaccio war echt überragend. Wir kommen auf alle Fälle wieder.

Ein Besuch wert. Gutes, frisch gemachtes Essen, saisonal angepasste Speisekarte. Ausserdem gibts feines, selbst gemachtes, zum extra mitnehmen😉wie Thymianoel oder Syrup, Eierlikoer und noch andere Lekkereien.

Die Neugestaltung ist super gelungen, deshalb 5 Sterne für das Ambiente! Der Service ist auf Zack, äußerst freundlich, sehr aufmerksam und immer mit einem netten/lustigen Spruch auf den Lippen. Deshalb nochmal 5 Sterne! Das Essen (wir hatten alle das Schäufele) schmeckt super lecker und unsere Teller waren alle leer. Deshalb auch hier 5 Sterne! Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Für jeden der gerne fränkisch ist ein Muss. Tolles Team und ein toller Neustart des alten Schlosses.

Ich bin Anwohner im Ort. Und kann nur bestätigen dass sich dass Schloss nun gemacht hat. Der Vorpächter war eine Katastrophe. Und daher waren die Erwartungen nicht sehr hoch für den neuen Pächter. Er hat jedoch alles weit Übertroffen. Er macht echt gutes Essen. ich war seit der neu Eröffnung schon öfter dort Essen als vorher jemals im Schloss. Das Servicepersonal ist auf Zack und lässt dich auch im Stress merken dass du wahrgenommen wirst. Das Essen ist Qualitativ sehr lecker. Die Preise sind denk ich angemessen. (Für mich könnten die Portionen größer sein xD ) Auch der bereits erwähnte Eierlikör ist der Wahnsinn. Die Wartezeiten zwischen Bestellung und Verzehr sind normal würde ich sagen, ich hatte bisher nie das Gefühl lange auf meine Bestellung Warten zu müssen. Ich gehe auch echt gern dort hin zum Essen/Trinken, da man nicht das Gefühl bekommt nur ein zahlender Gast zu sein. Es ist schon eher eine Familiäre Atmosphäre. VLG Ben

Die Rezension von Herrn Maximilian Berger vom 15.10.2023 kann sich unmöglich auf den von uns neueröffneten Betrieb des "Alten Schloß" in Höfles beziehen. Die angesprochenen Kritikpunkte passen in keinster Weise zum Angebot der Speisekarte und zum Betrieb und der Bewirtung des rezensierten Tages. Möglicherweise bezieht sich die Kritik auf den Vorpächter, da dieser sowohl fränkische als auch italienische Küche angeboten hat. Hierbei handelt es sich um eine Vermutung und es stellt sich uns die Frage nach dem Zeitpunkt der Kritik und den kritisierten Inhalten. Um die Sache aufzulösen, würden wir uns freuen, wenn Herr Maximilian Berger uns kontaktiert oder im "alten Schloß" besucht, um die Fragen zum besseren Verständnis zu klären. Wir haben bei der Inneneinrichtung, der Dekoration und der Ausstattung der Räumlichkeiten einiges neu gestaltet und dabei versucht, den Charakter dieses ehrwürdigen Hauses mit modernen Elementen zu verbinden, um damit eine angenehme und einladend gastliche Atmosphäre zu schaffen. Absolutes No-Go - hier hat an dem Tag nichts gestimmt Wartezeit bis wir bestellen konnten mind. 30 min bei insgesamt 6 Gästen Mussten uns selber Besteck, Karten, Servietten, Salz/Pfeffer holen - eig. hab ich dort bedient. Gibt fast ausschließlich nur Schweinefleisch auf der Karte Ein Mix aus deutscher Küche und Italiener Essen definitiv kein Highlight Napf für die Hunde habe ich mir selbst besorgt - aus einem Blumenkübel... Kinderhochstuhl gibt es nicht, trotz dessen das wir zuvor angerufen hatten Es war sau kalt keine Kartenzahlung an diesem Tag möglich Das einzige - Wirt nett und es war sauber. Die Anlage bietet so einen schönen Biergarten und so eine schöne Wirtschaft - keine Ahnung wie man sowas an die Wand fahren kann.

Hier ist seit Ende September ein neuer Pächter, der regionale Küche modern und kreativ umsetzt. Es gibt tolle vegetarische Gerichte wie Sellerieschnitzel und Rote Bete Tatar, aber auch die Klassiker wie Wiener Schnitzel und das beste Schäufele mit bester Sauce und Klößen! Außerdem ist der hausgemachte Eierlikör die Bombe! Netter Service, gemütliche Stube - passt 👍 Wir komme bald wieder um alles durchzuprobieren 😋

Sehr freundliches Personal, sehr leckeres Essen und sehr schönes Ambiente. Es sind große Portionen, das Essen kam sehr warm zum Tisch. Das Schnitzel und besonders die Pommes kann ich nur empfehlen! Ein Besuch lohnt sich auf jeden Fall :)

Neuer sehr sympathischer Wirt! Sehr schön eingerichtet und super Service kommen noch dazu. Meinem Geschmack nach gibt es dort auch das beste Schäuferle in Fürth/Nürnberg! Das Schnitzel war auch sehr sehr lecker. Portionen sind auch relativ groß, sodass man gut satt wird.

War hier vor Ca 12 Jahren zuletzt. Was die aktuellen Pächter aus dieser vorher dunklen Stube gezaubert haben ist herzerwaermend und sehr einladend..Junges, frisches Team mit super Ideen und geiler Umsetzung. Essen war fantastisch. Super lecker gegessen - Welt bestes Schäufele mit super knackiger Kruste und bester Sauce!!! Kriegst du nirgends besser! Tolle vegetarische Gerichte wie Rote Bete Tartar und Sellerieschnitzel statt dem üblichen Einerlei. Apfleküchle wirklich hausgemacht, nicht TK-Einheits-Ware wie man sie sonst oft kriegt. Schönes Ambiente rustikal-modern, sehr netter Service. Weiteres Highlight ist der hausgemachte Eierlikör, den man auch zum Mitnehmen/Verschenken kaufen kann. So was leckeres hatte ich lange nicht mehr.

Waren am Sonntag Mittag spontan zum Essen. Was soll man sagen hervorragende fränkische Küche von Suppe bis Hauptgang. Ein Schäufele so wie es sich in Franken gehört. Kommen wieder.

Wir haben hier den 80ten Geburtstag meiner Frau im Kreise unserer Großfamilie herrlich u. gemütlich gefeiert. Die Speisen waren sehr gut und die Bewirtung sehr zuvorkommend. Unsere Gäste und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Kann man nur weiterempfehlen. Unser Dank gilt Hern Oligno!m

Gehobene Küche für ein paar Euro mehr, was ein gutes Investment ist. Die Essenensqualität entspricht dem Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis. Der Service ist sehr gut ausgebildet und sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Im Sommer kann man wunderschön draußen im Biergarten sitzen. Der Innenbereich ist rustikal und sehr gepflegt.
