Ich war versucht, die Spargelsuppe zu probieren. Das ganze Abendessen war nichts Besonderes. Unterdurchschnittlich.

Eine Wirtschaft mit Deutsch Fränkischer Küche die ganztägig auf hat. mittwochs ist geschlossen. Der Wirt und der Koch sind zuvorkommend und total freundlich. Das Essen bodenständig und lecker. Im Sommer kann man draußen sitzen, aber innen ist es auch sehr gemütlich und rustikal. Es gibt außerhalb der Speisekarte noch weitere Gerichte. Einfach vorbeischauen. Biersorte ist St. Georgen's Bräu und ein gutes Fränkisches Bier. Reservieren würde ich bei einer hohen Personenanzahl und bei Festlichkeiten, aber das versteht sich von selbst.

Waren heute zum Mittagessen und Kaffee trinken zwecks Konfirmation in der Wirtschaft. Von der Vorbereitung, bei denen wir super unterstützt wurden, über das Essen und den Service heute: Unglaublich gut! Das Essen hervorragende, fränkische Küche zu absolut angebrachten Preisen. Wurde von allen Gästen sehr gelobt. Das Lokal für uns bekannt und beliebt urig. Nur eben mit neuen Inhaber/n. Sauberkeit ausgezeichnet. Der Service hervorragend und nicht aufdringlich, aber immer zur richtigen Zeit obwohl das Haus voll war! Vielen Dank an Alle Mitarbeiter! Wir können die Wirtschaft wirklich nur empfehlen.

Eigentlich nicht meine Art, aber hier kann ich nichts Gutes lassen. Das Essen kann ich nicht bewerten weil ich nach über einer halben Stunde warten noch nicht mal eine Bestellung aufgeben könnte - deshalb 3 Sterne. Mach zwanzig Minuten ohne auch nur eines Blickes gewürdigt zu werden wurden wir unfreundlich angeblafft, ob wir uns nicht woanders hinsetzen können. Umgesetzt und nochmal 15 Minuten gewartet, bis mir die Hutschnur geplatzt ist und wir gegangen sind. Der service ist wirklich eine Katastrophe und deutlicher kann man mir nicht mitteilen, dass ich hier nicht erwünscht bin - da gebe ich mein Geld lieber einem echten Gastronom.

Nicht riesig, aber dafür gemütlich! Tradition wird hier gelebt und auch auf dem Teller serviert. Echte fränggische Spezialiäten kann man hier in Ruhe genießen. Das Gebäude strahlt einen wunderschönen Charm aus.

Wir haben die Konfirmation unserer Tochter im alten Schloß gefeiert. Es war durchweg ein gelungener Tag. Es waren 4 Konfirmationsfeiern zur gleichen Zeit. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und sehr flott. Das Essen war sehr lecker und wurde von allen Gästen sehr gelobt, vor allem das Schäuferle, der Sauerbraten und der Tafelspitz waren wohl einer der besten, welche jemals gegessen worden sind. Ein sehr großes Lob an das ganze Team. Wir kommen wieder 😃 Vielen Dank auch, dass ihr die kurzfristige Reservierung noch so gut umsetzen konntet.

Wir haben die Konfirmation unserer Tochter gefeiert. Trotz vollem Haus und mehrerer parallel verlaufender Konfirmationen verlief alles reibungslos und keine Wünsche blieben offen. Es wurde auf alle vorab besprochenen Wünsche eingegangen. Egal, was bestellt wurde, alles geschmacklich hervorragend und auf den Punkt. Die Schäuferla ein Traum, butterzart, die Kruste rösch, wie es sich gehört. Egal, was bestellt wurde, bis zur Soße hin lecker. Soße hausgemacht, keine Tütenpampe. Die Zutaten saisonal sowie regional. Der Kuchen vom Bäcker ums Eck. Qualität trotz gutem Aufkommen vor Quantität. Personal aufmerksam und freundlich, inclusive den Chefs, die permanent aktiv beteiligt und aufrichtig daran interessiert sind, dass es ihren Gästen gut geht. Die Preise sehr fair und berechtigt. Wer also Wert auf bodenständige Küche, mit Fokus auf die wesentlichen Dinge legt, ist hier genau richtig. Vielen Dank an das ganze tolle Team vom alten Schloss. Wir hatten einen tollen Tag. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder und empfehlen euch mit sehr gutem Gewissen weiter. Danke !!!

Sehr leckeres Essen, mit authentisch freundlichem Service. Rustilales Ambiente.

Wir waren zum Abendeseen dort. Leider etwas entäuschend. Sehr einfache, wenig besuchte Gaststube, ein ziemlich gelangweilter Wirt, die Speisen haben eher mittelgut geschmeckt. Keine Wirtschaft, die man jetzt unbedingt gezielt aufsuchen muss.

Wir sind an einem Montag um ca. 13 Uhr am Flughafen gelandet und wollten vor der Heimfahrt etwas Essen. Sind dann durch Zufall hier gelandet: Das Schild an der Straße versprach durchgehend warme fränkische Küche. Perfekt! Es war fast 14 Uhr. Beim Betreten war der Gastraum leer. keiner da. Schade dachten wir und wollten schon wieder gehen. Dann kam doch der Wirt um die Ecke. Wir wurden freundlich empfangen und zu Tisch gebeten. Zunächst ein Helles un dein Radler. Dann hatten wir einen extrem leckeren Sauerbraten, Knödel u. Blaukraut. Weiterhin das beste Schäuferla ever! 😋 So eine durchgehend perfekte resche Kruste, nicht eine Raute die nicht aufgeploppt war! Nach dem Essen hatten wir noch einen netten Plausch mit dem Wirt. Wir kommen sicher wieder!

Karpfen war sehr gut, auch das Cordon Bleu, 1 Stern Abzug für den Kartoffelsalat. Für meinen Geschmack etwas zu flüssig, zu süß und zu Essig-lastig. Der Service war spitzenmäßig trotz vieler Gäste. Dickes Lob für die Mädels. Beleuchtung oben fand ich etwas unangenehm, aber urige Einrichtung.

Waren im Dez. 24 erstmals hier - nun wieder! Mike macht hier alles richtig - rustikal und lecker!

Es hat ein wirklich schönes Ambiente. Aber der wirt ist schon sehr naja fränkisch. Das Essen war ok aber Flexibilität sieht anders aus. Service ein bisschen arg langsam.

Unfortunately, we weren't convinced. First, we were given a completely sticky table with five flies buzzing around it. After a 30-minute wait, with only a few tables occupied, we got the menus ourselves. After another 15 minutes, an older gentleman came over and only half-heartedly wrote down the order, resulting in the wrong food. The portions are manageable, and unfortunately, the price-performance ratio isn't good enough. After the main course, we wanted a drink and called for the staff member three times. She ignored us. Dessert was then promptly forgotten and took another half hour to arrive. One experience richer; one visit here is more than enough.

Very good food that is absolutely worth the price. Very friendly landlord with good service. Very child-friendly! This review was from the old landlord with great Balkan cuisine! Update 13.07.25 A catastrophe - rarely have I eaten such bad Cordon Bleu, tasteless and carelessly slapped onto the plate. On top of that, the hygiene conditions are questionable - glasses are extremely dirty. When you ask for a side salad, a waitress addresses you informally for no reason. Well, that's all there is to it - people don't normally tip here. When the landlord took the money himself, I actually gave him a tip, but apparently he didn't think it was enough for this fabricated zero service. He accepted the 10 cents with a grumble. I have rarely experienced such cheeky behavior from a restaurateur as here.

Beautiful inn. We were out on our bikes and stopped for a rest in the shady beer garden. It was lovely to sit under the climbing roses.

Great inn with delicious food, a pleasant atmosphere, and a very friendly host. We stopped in spontaneously for a late lunch. For dinner, we had Franconian bratwurst with sauerkraut and salad with grilled cheese. Both were very good. The sauerkraut was particularly noteworthy; it was wonderfully seasoned. We also appreciated that the host brought small cutlery for our child. A highly recommended inn.

Very tasty food and very nice owner

We spontaneously stopped by the beer garden this evening. It's located by the street but still very nice and there was little traffic. The food wasn't suitable for us. I ordered a large salad plate with turkey for €16. I was looking forward to it because of the warm weather, but I would have liked to be full. Unfortunately, the salad was very small, and there was no bread or baguette included. When I asked the very nice waitress, I told her this, but I think she was a bit overwhelmed by my comment, but I still didn't feel full. The Wiener Schnitzel (Viennese style) for €21 with a small side salad was more like a cutlet in terms of meat, and the fries were very meager. Too bad.

Visited for the second time today and was completely satisfied. All the dishes (Schäuferle, Tafelspitz, and Schnitzel) were very good and plentiful, the service was attentive, the prices reasonable, and the atmosphere pleasant and well-maintained. A definite improvement over our first visit! We'd love to go back! 👍😁

We ordered cordon bleu with fries (which were delicious, and so were the fries), shoulder of pork (fantastic with crispy skin and delicious sauce), and carp (the medium one for €19 tasted good but was dripping with fat 😞☹️). Unfortunately, no one else came after we ordered. We would have liked some more sauce for the shoulder of pork and something to drink. So everyone only had one drink. I'd say the food was good, but the service and the fatty carp could still be improved. Addendum after 3 months - unfortunately, nothing has changed.😢

First of all: There was nothing wrong with the food; it was very good. The service, however, was unfortunately very poor. Even after being seated, we had to wait a long time for our menu and our drinks. Mind you, other guests who arrived after us were already being served. The tone of voice also took some getting used to. For example, the response to the incorrect drink was like, "It's not so bad, I'll drink it myself," even though the correct drink was still delivered. Towards the end of our visit, the chef himself even served the food, which underscored the somewhat slow service. The dining room itself could certainly be improved. As it is, it's a bit cold and uncomfortable, in our opinion. Furthermore, the floor was dirty, which detracted from the overall feel.

The food was really delicious - at least there's nothing wrong with that. Our reservation was not found and unfortunately the cleanliness was also disappointing. The high chair we ordered was dirty and we had to clean it ourselves. There was leftover food on the floor, it was pretty sticky under our table and the edges of the glasses weren't entirely clean either. It's a shame, because the ambience would actually be very nice. If more care was taken with service and hygiene, the visit would be much more pleasant.

Unfortunately, after the change of tenant, things are no longer as good as they were before. A telephone reservation was no longer "found", the cleanliness is unfortunately not 100% (food leftovers on the floor, sticky floor), and you had to "order" an empty plate for the child several times because the plate was always forgotten. The high chair for the child was dirty and there were old, used dishes on it. We cleaned the high chair first before we could use it. Food was quite good. Conclusion: Food is okay but service and ambience are not recommended. I can't make any recommendations and I won't be coming here again. It was actually much better before.

Best home cooking. Tafelspitz, goulash and the side salad. Everything's fine. Classic Franconian sandstone ambience. It's nice.

I can only recommend it. The Tafelspitz is very tasty and I have never had it so good anywhere. All the other food that was served at other tables also looked very good. It wasn't my first time there and I'd love to come back. Very nice service from the boss and big praise to his chef, who runs the restaurant with him.

Excellent food, we had our funeral dinner after the funeral service. Great service, great food. The quality is really good, fresh and prepared with love. Rarely have I had such good cuisine.

Service was nice Food was OK However, a change of supplement was charged at 1.50 Which is basically okay, but it's not on the menu and wasn't communicated Instead of dumplings, boiled potatoes that weren't even soft

Very good. Price level is appealing. Cooked with love is absolutely true. The pork blade was crispy and the meat was tender to the bite. Garnished with two dumplings that my mother couldn't have made better. Ambience is very well maintained, there are small red candles on the tables, creating a welcoming atmosphere. What I noticed positively was that the candles were already burning, as if the table had been prepared especially for us. We'd love to come back.

Restaurant wasn't particularly busy on a Saturday evening. The dining room was quite cool and always drafty when the door was opened. The furnishings are very outdated and do not create a pleasant atmosphere. Eating with ups and downs. The goulash tasted overly seasoned, perhaps it had been in the pot for a long time. The Schäufele was very tasty. Actually a nice location, but you could do more with it.

Went there today had sauerbraten and cordon bleu, unfortunately the food wasn't that great. I'll never go there again

Bottled beer for 4.50 euros? It wasn't easy to remove Schäufele from the bone - plus lots of caraway seeds! Bratwursts with no taste and little fried, with tons of caraway in the sauerkraut. Carp fillet even without taste. The gas room wasn't particularly clean at 12 o'clock on Sunday. Leftover food on the floor, table stuck. After the door was constantly open (due to serving in the next room), there was a lot of draft. Empty glasses and plates were ignored, as was the request to pay three times. Once and never again.

Now I was there for the third time within a week. I always ate soup. I liked it. 1 time Broudwäschd, 1 x Schaifälä with 3 Gniiidlä, and this evening roast brawn. Always very rich. I am satisfied and will come more often in the future. And in summer there is a garden. 😉

Since the Old Castle reopened in November 2024, this was our fourth time eating there. We were never disappointed on any of our visits. Here you can enjoy good Franconian cuisine in a cozy atmosphere at a fair price. Particularly recommended are: carp fillet, Schäuferla, apple fritters, sauerbraten, cheese spaetzle and beer goulash! The quality is right here. We hope for a long-term commitment from the current landlords and would be happy to come back.

We have been there twice now and are completely satisfied again. Schäufala with caraway, as it should be with thick sauce and slightly falling meat... a dream. Plus 2 dumplings and a side salad. Tafelspitz with horseradish sauce and 2 dumplings was also very good. As a dessert, the apple fritters were a perfect finish and we were completely satisfied. The beer with it is st. Georgenbräu what more could you want.

Drinks were served quickly, nice service at the counter, there were three of us and we all tried 3 schnitzel variations (children's schnitzel, cordon bleu with potato salad and turkey schnitzel). Upon request, we received the turkey schnitzel with lamb's lettuce and we all enjoyed it very tasty, we're coming definitely again..👌👍

There were four of us eating because of the gourmet block. As required, the voucher book was pointed out before ordering as it was probably a new operator and the discount was not accepted. Well, we've been there before and were hungry. Due to the very cold temperatures, the constantly open door made it draft like pike soup. Well, let's stay anyway. 4 x goose breast with dumplings and red cabbage. The first drinks arrive relatively quickly, although the service was more or less overwhelmed. When the food came, we discovered that the dumplings were still completely raw inside. When I complained, I was told that it had probably been taken from the wrong pot. It can happen sometimes. A mini bowl of red cabbage (about 3 tablespoons for 4 people) remained on the table while our food was taken away. 15 minutes later our plates came back, with hot dumplings and completely cold chicken breasts and cold sauce. Due to the stress of the service staff, a further complaint was not possible. We had to go to the counter to ask if we could get some more red cabbage. The beer we ordered after our meal came about 25 minutes later. Conclusion: almost 140€ (including 5 drinks and 4.50€ for the extra red cabbage). We left because we had a bad atmosphere and wanted to see the place from the outside. A clear recommendation.

There is nothing to complain about at the food, really very good! The operation is unfortunately overwhelmed, it could only remember very little and incorrectly brought the food and drinks accordingly. The landlord (boss?) Knows how to talk stupidly and destroy the last rest of the good atmosphere. Last but not least, the door was completely left open so that it was very cold and draft in the room. Payment was also a disaster. It was incorrectly narrowed and billed very tediously. No thanks, nothing! Once and never again!

We met there as a larger group for dinner. Everyone was pleasantly surprised throughout, starting with the cozy Franconian ambience, the diligent, friendly service and of course the delicious food. Whether wild garlic soup, fillet tips, asparagus tagliatelle or apple cakes for dessert, it was all a delight and a wonderful treat for the palate. Definitely highly recommended. We'd love to come back.

Four of us were there because of the voucher book and what can I say, it was simply delicious. Plenty of portions and super nice service. Prices a bit high but regional fresh products. At the end there was a delicious drink that we took with us when we went out. We will definitely come again.

We ate here for the first time today and have to say we are thrilled. Right from the start, the waiter greeted us in a friendly manner and invited us in. Time was immediately taken for us and there was also a little attention to the house. The service was really entertaining and friendly. You can tell that he likes and likes his job. Excellent, the guest feels welcome from the start. The food is fantastic and the prices are reasonable. An absolute recommendation for every fan of Franconian cuisine and those who are not yet one.

Very friendly hospitality with passion. Nice little garden. Attractive old restaurant. The menu is clear and the prices are slightly above average. The Franconian standards Schäuferle, Roulade and Sauerbraten were definitely delicious, beautifully prepared and worth the price. The soups (cauliflower and fish) were also highly recommended. We'll definitely come back again.

Unfortunately, nothing has improved with the new landlord. The portions were very clear and even a few herbs couldn't hide the fact that they were convenience products. Small portions and high prices alone do not make a star-rated kitchen. The innkeeper seemed hectic and overwhelmed to us, but moderately friendly. We have now tried the “Old Castle” twice with similar experiences each time. It's a shame, because the ambience would be really good.

The innkeeper serves a fish for €19, which requires a magnifying glass. We complained and went back, whereupon the innkeeper just turned the fish over and served it again to the rest of our guests. Then he accused our club of cheating, even though we weren't even there that weekend. To date there has been no apology. Yes, the landlord is very confident in himself and his cooking skills. But with 2 bratwursts with ice-cold potato salad for €10, it probably shouldn't be. In my opinion, the new tenant of the Old Castle has overpriced for mediocre food and is also a landlord who does not have himself or his temper under control. Since then, our lodge has decided not to entertain him.

My wife and I were there last Sunday with a couple we were friends with. We became aware of the restaurant through the “Schlemmerblock”. We noticed the old half-timbered construction in the entrance area, especially in the dining room. Together with the seating and tables (some of which showed significant signs of wear), it created a warm atmosphere. We made this clear from the first contact with the waiter. that we want to use the gourmet block. The waiter's answer: "We have only reopened a few weeks ago and have nothing to do with the gourmet block. This comes from the predecessor. We couldn't have known that! Then there were repeated discussions with the waiter about the subject of the gourmet block. He would lose at least 40-60 EUR in sales with us, he couldn't afford that with the best will in the world. We asked him whether it wouldn't have been better if he had provided clarification on the front door with a sign saying "Unfortunately Schlemmerblock is not accepted". Answer: "Then no one comes to us, they all turn around and leave again." I have the impression that he deliberately wants a few stupid people like us who simply don't want any stress to stay put and constantly think that we'll never come back! We felt ripped off. Never go there again! Wasted money! Since everyone's tastes are known to be different, I can only make a judgment based on my own taste. The food was mediocre and didn't blow my mind. I had Schäufele with dumplings and red cabbage. The sauce was too thick and the red cabbage, which was probably reheated to 300X, had a strange taste and color (black). The cook probably wanted to create a connection to the old castle walls.

Zweiter Weihnachtsfeiertag und zur vereinbarten Zeit 13 Uhr gab es keinen Karpfen mehr sowie keine Klöße. So wurden Semmelknödel zum etwas harten/ zähen Schäuferle serviert. Die Karte ist eher sehr klein, sowie die Portion der Pilz Ravioli. Überraschend war das bei der Leberknödel Suppe ein halber Leberknödel drin war - hatte ich so noch nie gesehen - bei dem Preis frech. So alles insgesamt geschmacklich nicht wirklich überzeugend (Käsespätzle, lauwarme Karpfenchips mit Salat). Schnitzel war dafür gut. Service war bemüht, jedoch nicht so professionell.

Absolut empfehlenswert! Super leckeres Essen mit viel Liebe zum Detail. Es wird alles frisch zubereitet und alles ist selbstgemacht, sogar das Ketchup! Das Essen schmeckt nicht nur lecker, sondern ist auch jedes Mal sehr hübsch angerichtet. Das gesamte Personal ist sehr herzlich, total fix und immer für ein nettes Pläuschchen zu haben. Auch allein fühlt man sich hier sehr wohl.

Super schön geführte Lokation mit tollem Essen. Für Feiern oder wenn man einen Tag Cora Raum benötigt, findet man ebenfalls schöne Räume. Rundum ein sehr gelungenes Essen mit top Service

Ich war am Samstag mit vier Freunden aus Hessen dort. Der Innenraum ist sehr gemütlich und urig. Die Speisekarte ist schön übersichtlich und enthält neben fränkischen Spezialitäten wie Schäuferle und Karpfen auch vegetarische Gerichte wie bspw. Ravioli und verschiedene Salate. Es ist für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei. Die Bestellungen konnten wir schnell aufgeben und die Vorspeisen kamen sehr zügig. Wir hatten Feldsalat, Apfel-Sellerie Süppchen und Rinder-Carpaccio. Alles schmeckte sehr gut. Auf meine Bitte bekamen wir auch sofort ein paar Scheiben Baguette zum Feldsalat, ohne Mehrpreis. Nach einer angenehmen Wartezeit kamen auch unsere Hauptgänge. Wir hatten Schäuferle mit Dunkelbiersauce und Kloß, 1/4 Ente mit Kloß und Blaukraut und Salat mit Rinderfiletstreifen. Uns schmeckte alles vorzüglich und meine hessischen Freunde, die noch nie vorher Schäuferle gegessen hatten, waren begeistert. Der Service war aufmerksam, allerdings wurde es immer voller und man merkte, daß die Servicekräfte dann teilweise etwas überfordert waren. Ich werte das aber nicht negativ, denn sie waren alle immer sehr nett. Da eine Freundin und ich am 16.12. Geburtstag hatten gab es noch einen Likör für jeden aufs Haus. Sehr nette Geste! Preislich nicht am unteren Segment aber die Produkte und die köstliche Zubereitung der Speisen war jeden Euro wert. Wir kommen wieder!

Sagenhaft! Alle waren satt und wunschlos glücklich :) Ein super Service hat den Besuch an diesem schönen Ort perfekt gemacht. Der Weihnachtsmarkt und die Kutschfahrt waren auch ein tolles Erlebnis für Erwachsene und Kinder. Nur zu empfehlen :)

Im Großen und Ganzen ok. Service leider sehr langsam obwohl nicht viel los war. Viele Gerichte waren aus. Essen Preise teilweise etwas überzogen Parken im Hof oder an der Straße Neue Besitzer seit kurzem mit gastro Erfahrung

Tolles, tolles selbstgemachtes Essen! Pommes und Fischstäbchen auch selbst gemacht. Das Personal sehr freundlich!

Super Essen, tolles Konzept, authentische und herzliche Menschen, die eine familiäre Atmosphäre verbreiten!

Ich kam am Sonntag um 14 Uhr zur Schließzeit mit meinen 2 hungrigen Kindern auf den Fahrrädern an. Obwohl die Küche schon zu war, haben die beiden ihr Schnitzel und ich ein Schäuferle gekriegt. Und was soll ich sagen: Glücklicherweise, denn es war wirklich SUPER LECKER. Die Soße zum Schäuferle war fantastisch! Und die Kids waren restlos begeistert vom Schnitzel. Dazu ein total netter und aufgeschlossener Wirt. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Wir waren heute zum ersten Mal hier. Service super freundlich, Essen mega lecker. Ob Zwiebelrostbraten, Sellerieschnitzel, Suppe oder auch das Highlight aus meiner Sicht, das Carpaccio war echt überragend. Wir kommen auf alle Fälle wieder.

Ein Besuch wert. Gutes, frisch gemachtes Essen, saisonal angepasste Speisekarte. Ausserdem gibts feines, selbst gemachtes, zum extra mitnehmen😉wie Thymianoel oder Syrup, Eierlikoer und noch andere Lekkereien.
