Dear Yvonne, it was a wonderful evening! All of the food was of the highest quality and I really didn't miss a course. It was a pleasure for me to dine again after a long time with a restaurateur who still knows something about his craft. I would be happy to come back privately on my next visit!😋

The food was delivered cold and unfortunately nothing was taken care of after consulting the staff.

Unfortunately, the burger I ordered was cold and didn't taste good at all... we were also insulted by the owner, which is not possible when you greet your guests... that's why I can't recommend this place

I was warmly welcomed at check-in and said goodbye. The room was very comfortable. But the way there is a bit difficult through the stairwell and with large luggage. But that's how it is in old buildings. Nevertheless, I'd be happy to come back at any time.

The food in the restaurant is good, home-style with a bias towards Bavarian. The staff was friendly and sometimes joking and the food was good.

We were in this restaurant on October 19, 2024 with a bus group. We were able to choose our lunch from a selection menu in advance. The prices are high and there is not a single meal available as a senior portion. Ordering by telephone was difficult as no one picked up until shortly before 11 a.m. We had made a reservation at 12:00 p.m. and were then asked on the phone not to come until 12:30 p.m. because the restaurant doesn't open until 12:00 p.m. One person at the table hadn't chosen any food and wanted to order pumpkin soup from the menu on the spot. She was told that this wasn't possible. Why, she asked, is it on the menu!? Comment: that doesn't work. She then refrained from ordering. Then she has to pay 20 euros or leave the restaurant immediately. Our entire group was deeply shocked and upset. We've never experienced anything like this before. The waitress collected a raspberry spritzer and stood there until the person left the room. How humiliating. The manager was obviously very ashamed because he didn't dare come to our table, even though he was asked to do so several times. Overall, completely unacceptable behavior. Never again - poor Marburg. Another tip, Mr. Managing Director: With senior portions, not so much food has to be thrown away.

We like going here because it is a quaint and cozy address in Marburg. Either for food or just for a beer or coffee you can't go wrong. The selection is large and there is a menu that changes seasonally. The prices are higher but the food is worth it as it is freshly prepared and of great quality. There was a lot of hustle and bustle on our last visit, so it took a while before we could order food. The fries weren't completely cooked through, but the schnitzel was top notch! Gladly again.

Perfect food, perfect service, perfect ambience, super tasty, service always in the mood for quick sayings, but not rude. I can't judge the room because I only ate.

The Gartenlaube is a hotel and restaurant in Marburg's old town. Very well located for tourist activities. As a half-timbered house, the house is a real gem. Accordingly, it is also winding and you have to be careful not to hit your head in the rooms. The rooms are all apartments (we had room 4) with a separate living room and kitchen. We didn't use it, but it was all very nicely decorated! The only thing I missed in the bathroom was shampoo. Because it is also a restaurant, the smell of food also wafts into the rooms when the windows are open. Breakfast could be booked separately. It was served at your seat, so no buffet. It was abundant. We were able to lock our bikes in their own room. The cake was super delicious! The dinner was so mediocre, but plentiful.

A house with a lot of history, lovingly prepared with an eye for detail. I enjoyed being a guest in “my room” and am looking forward to my next stay :).

I actually wanted to give this 3-4 stars because the food was very tasty. But one waitress just seemed annoyed and stressed, while another younger one seemed nice. The food also tasted good, but that's a very high price level (burger with fries €21). I would say that it's already at Munich or Hamburg level. Absolutely too expensive for Marburg. But the absolute highlight is that for €6 you get an empty glass and can pour the bottle of Radler 0.5l into yourself. But the whole thing was topped by the selection of schnapps. A 4cl glass of schnapps for €9.80 (retail price for 1 liter: €35, retail price for 1 liter €245). I don't even know if the word audacity is enough for this. I really support restaurateurs very often and know that they have suffered very badly in recent years. I also understand and accept that the prices have certainly had to be increased due to increased prices, but I find a 7-8 times increase on the purchase price absolutely unacceptable. The operator should really think about whether this is in the spirit of the inventor.

The only ding I can give this lovely location has more to do with my height than anything "wrong" with the room itself. It is an old building... and several of the door ways were almost 12 inches below my head. There was a lot of ducking down at night. That said the staff was incredible. The dinner and breakfast were amazing and the location is right in the heart of the town. They also accommodate bikes. If you are on a Lahn radweg tour consider staying here.

As always, the classic Schmandschnitzel with fried potatoes 🥰 Super nice staff, great atmosphere and a very nice selection of drinks. The absolute favorite Cordon bleu is a poem! Always happy 😃

Nice restaurant in Marburg. Prices high! Burger without fries with a beer, 27 euros. Salad 20 euros. I also have corresponding ideas for these prices. Hmmm...ok. Definitely ok for bankers, etc. It's probably more up to me. Coming from Frankfurt, the competition there is greater and therefore cheaper than in Marburg. On the positive side, you can eat outside in peace without being bothered by beggars etc. In Marburg the world is still in order! We thought that was very good. You won't find/meet any students in the gazebo. There are many options for eating in the upper town/old town. For us it was too expensive for too few aha and oh! Therefore only 3 stars 🌟 🌟 🌟

We were “guests” on September 12th, 2024 with a group of 67 people. Of course the visit was registered in advance. The restaurant required us to order our food at 4 p.m. even though our visit was planned for around 8 p.m. Unfortunately, one person in our group didn't have time to place his order in advance. So he wanted to order in the restaurant. However, he was denied this. He should wait until we have all eaten and then order more. After our host complained to the owner that we would like to dine together, he was loudly refused and if he didn't like it, he should leave the restaurant. The really good service staff were obviously uncomfortable and were able to intervene. We all ate together but unfortunately there was a bad aftertaste.

Super cozy restaurant. Rooms are not luxury but functional and rustic. We liked it very much. Only the stairs were a real challenge with a large suitcase. Breakfast delicious and more than plentiful.

My mother had dinner there yesterday with a large group of 43. Unfortunately she can only eat small meals. She wasn't allowed to order soup because it wasn't on the daily menu. Ok, that’s understandable! However, she should pay 20 euros for the salad for 6.90 euros because it is the minimum order amount. Never heard of something like this in restaurants. She then politely declined the food, but she also had to pay 20 euros for the seat. She was then allowed to pay for her drink and leave the restaurant. She waited outside for the group, everyone was very upset about such poor service. With all my love, there was a group of 43 people who all ate. And then you charge seating fees for a lady over 70 who can only tolerate small meals. 👍🏻

The “Gartenlaube” is a traditional restaurant near the Elisabeth Church in Marburg. It is located in a historic half-timbered house and also offers the opportunity to sit outside in summer. The small salad is very good and the spaetzle chanterelle pan with strips of beef fillet was excellent.

Adamantly refused to give us tap water even though we paid for glasses of wine. We said we'd eat there if they provided tap water, but they stuck to their guns and we moved on. Poor service.

Die Gartenlaube ist zentral gelegen und die Zimmer sind in Ordnung. Das Personal ist sehr zuvorkommend und das Essen im Restaurant ist zwar etwas teurer aber es ist seinen Preis schon wert.

Ate in the gazebo today. We only had a short time on the way to Hamburg. But we stayed in this magical restaurant because of the wonderful smell that wafted from the kitchen. We were super positively surprised by the tasty home-made food. The mashed potatoes were a poem! The cakes in the counter were all baked by mom and looked great. Unfortunately we were full due to the really generous portions. All ingredients were fresh and lovingly prepared. The service was very nice and accommodating. An absolute recommendation for everything! It's rare that you can have such fantastic food. But you also have to understand something about food that you can no longer say about many of our contemporaries.

Very good food with huge portions - impossible to do alone. Smaller portions and then adjusted prices would be much better in my opinion.

Für die ehr hohen Preise absolut sehr gewöhnliches Essen. Wirklich nicht besonderes mit wenig schmackhaften Soßen. Getränke kalt, aber zu teuer. In Marburg kann man definitiv bessere Lokale finden.

The two of us were cycling today and it happened to take us into the gazebo. Very nicely located. Nice service and the food was really top. It was fun, nice place decorated with a lot of love.

We have been visiting this restaurant for many years, the service, food and ambience are great. However, in our opinion the prices have become very overpriced, but that is subjective and everyone has their own opinion about it. I don't want to write anything bad at all, as I already mentioned, everything is great, only the price gives us some distance from the next visit . For a schnitzel with onions and fries without salad 24€ and a large shandy which is even served in a bottle with a glass to pour yourself costs 6€, the Kongurenz can do it cheaper and on tap! Well, that should just be a little feedback and feel free to make your own impression.

First of all: This is my personal opinion. Price-performance is not right at all. Schnitzel over 20 euros with frozen side dishes. Inedible. I rarely write reviews, but this is the pinnacle. In my opinion, everything here needs to be reconsidered. The only positive thing was the nice waiter.

We wanted to eat schnitzel today but when we saw on the menu that a schnitzel should cost over 24 euros, we just drank something, which was also expensive. I think that 18 to 20 euros is just too much for a schnitzel at 24 euros. I can put up with it

Wir schlemmten hier regionale Spezialitäten im schönen Biergarten. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und das Essen köstlich. Die Getränkeauswahl ist ebenfalls gut, was will man mehr.

Very impolite. Rooms were only offered on the 3rd or 4th floor without an elevator. Only from 3 p.m. Thank you for the unfriendly service, I canceled immediately.

I can only describe our room as dirty and tastelessly furnished. Beard stubble in the bathroom, dust everywhere, stains in the kitchen... Absolute extortion for 125 a night. You couldn't even get a hairdryer. We'll never come here again. Edit: I asked at reception. And “mistakes are human” is an argument in private, but not when a basic service for payment is not fulfilled. My suggestion: accept criticism and strive for improvement instead of making half-baked excuses.

Only the restaurant is rated: Everything was very good, except for the prices - they are too high, and that doesn't justify the inflation (btw, cucumbers, for example, no longer cost €2 in Aldi, but €0.60 again. Nevertheless, the prices in restaurants go up no more down ;)) However, the service was excellent, a lot of effort was made to please everyone at the same time. Food was good, portions sufficient, drinks standard.

We were there with a slightly larger group to watch football. Service was nice and friendly, but the management's instructions on how to deal with guests are impossible. We ordered several bottles(!) of wine, but a simple glass of tap water is not allowed. Mind you, we had already ordered sparkling water at that point. Ordered several meals, an additional portion of fries is not possible either. Absolutely disgraceful and, in my opinion, extremely unprofessional. It's completely understandable that you don't add 5 glasses of water to an espresso, but that's completely out of proportion. That's why only one star, even though the service was good (they can't help it!) such a company policy is a complete catastrophe for me. I will definitely never come back. I don't support bosses like that. Addendum: I think your reaction alone shows how unservice-oriented you are. It's just unfortunately an important factor in gastronomy. PS: By the way, “volume discounts” are used in almost all industries, so this is a really bad example ;-)

The European Championship is broadcast, but then closed after the first half of the evening game because there are only 30 people left, with the justification that the target daily turnover is not reached... That's outrageous. The food was delicious but the price was also on the higher side (schnitzel €25, side salad costs extra).

I can only rate the food...the prices are too high for the food on offer. Too expensive for Marburg and the region. Even in Düsseldorf, in long-established, similar restaurants in the city center, the food is significantly cheaper. I have no idea what makes Marburg more expensive. Bland aftertaste...

The currywurst is nothing. Two sausages with spaghetti sauce. The lattice fries are okay. €16.90 is too much for that.

Recently completed two overnight stays and a graduation meeting in the gazebo. Very pleasant environment with a very nice team there... gladly again!

Das Essen war Okay...Standard...! Jedoch dafür soviel Geld zu verlangen grenzt schon an Wucher...die Flasche Wasser 8,00 € (0,75)........ein gewöhnliches Schnitzel 24,20 €. Man kann in Marburg in gehobener Gastronomie günstiger und qualitativ hochwertiger essen. Schade eigentlich, da die Gartenlaube früher eine gute Adresse war. Aber der Service hat sich ins Zeug gelegt...aber der kann diese Preise auch nicht retten....

Unfortunately I can't contribute anything to the quality of the rooms. The restaurant, however, is definitely recommended. Very nicely balanced cuisine and good food with the right price and excellent service.

Service is friendly and good. Unfortunately the quality of the food has deteriorated significantly. The schnitzel was fibrous and the salad was nothing special. But what is very special here are the prices. Because if you ask 20 euros or more for a salad, then it has to really convince you, which it doesn't!

Delicious food, delicious beer, cozy inside, outside you sit in a kind of pedestrian zone, a lot of traffic, but still not unpleasant. Very nice staff, tries to accommodate every special request. Unfortunately, like everywhere else, I find the prices for the drinks too high, but totally reasonable for the food. But I would still like to come back.

Accommodation is in a neighboring building. Landlady was very nice, showers spacious and clean! Television program SmartTv, not the usual private providers.

Nice accommodation, nice staff. Rooms are clean, beds are fine. However, I hit myself straight away in the morning. So please use caution for people over 170cm. Parking options are also limited or non-existent. You are usually forced to park in the parking garage, which is associated with considerable costs. I can't judge the price because the company covers the costs.

The restaurant looks chic, unfortunately the service and the food were terrible, the waiter was just hectic and annoyed while on the go. No criticism could be made, the food came to the table cold after almost 2 hours of waiting. Halfway through the schnitzel and fried potatoes I felt sick and stopped eating

Die Preise im Restaurant sind bodenlos, gierig und absolut nicht Leistungsgerecht. 6€ für 0,5 Apfelwein oder für 0,5 Krombacher Radler aus der der Flasche… Das Schnitzel für mehr als 20€ ohne Salat war sehnig… für mehr Geld bekommt man hier auf keinen Fall eine bessere Qualität. Besonders die 8,90€ für eine kleine Portion Pommes rauben einem dem Atem… Trotzdem ist das Ambiente sehr schön, der Burger war lecker und die Bedienung freundlich trotz meines zu bemerkenden Unmuts über die Preise.

Leckeres Essen, gemütliches Ambiente

Wir waren mit einer Gruppe von 8 Personen wandern, und sind danach dort eingekehr. Das Ambiente und der Service sind gut. Die zeit bis das Essen und die Getränke kamen war auch gut. Allerdings war die Gastwirtschaft auch nicht sonderlich gut besucht. Was allerdings, meiner Meinung nach absolut ungerechtfertigt ist, sind die Preise. Meine Freundin hatte einen Rösti Burger für 24,90€. Bei dem Preis, geht man natürlich davon aus, das dass Fleisch auf dem Bürger mit inbegriffen ist. So war es aber nicht. Für das Fleisch wurden zusätzlich 6.80€ in Rechnung gestellt und für den Ketchup weitere 0.50€. So hat der Burger mit Pommes insgesamt 32.20€ gekostet! Für ein 0,33er Krombacher Radler, aus der Flasche 3.90€ und für ein 0,5 er Weitzen 6.80€. Für ein Schweineschnitzel Jäger Art 24.20€ (für 4,80€ mehr bekommt man in Marburg, in einem anderen gehobenem Lokal 2 Kalbschnitzel mit Beilagen etc). Ich werde dort mit Sicherheit nicht mehr essen gehen.

Nettes, rustikales Restaurant. Überschaubare Speisekarte, was ich gut finde. Sehr nettes Personal. Immer wieder.

Der Service war gut. Das Personal war während des Besuchs freundlich. Die Preise sind für Marburg unüblich - für mein Empfinden zu hoch! Vielleicht schon eine frühe Erhöhung der MwSt. Hoffentlich gibt's nicht am 01.01.2024 eine erneute Erhöhung! Beim Verlassen des Lokals gab es von der Bedienung noch einen unpassenden Spruch zur Verabschiedung!

Das Personal ist super nett, umsorgend und wirklich immer zu erreichen. Das Lokal ist schick und sauber und das Essen war ebenfalls sehr lecker. Vor allem die selbstgemachten Limos kann ich empfehlen. Preis-Leistung und Ambiente absolut stimmig.

Top Essen, hervorragender Service, rundum zufrieden! Kinder-Schnitzel, Schnitzel mit Champignons-Rahmsoße und Schweinshaxe waren alle auf den Punkt, Panade sowie Kruste perfekt Pommes aus frischer Kartoffel reichlich Sauce für jeden. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Restaurantbesuch 28.12.2023: Kässpatzen, Himmel&Erde, Rostbratwürstchen. Drei hervorragende Gerichte zum höheren, aber durchaus gerechtfertigten Preis. Große Portionen und sehr lecker (Kartoffelstampf wirklich gut gelungen). Die Bedienung aufmerksam und freundlich. "Deutsche Küche" wird oft leider falsch bewertet. Ich kann hier nur eine sehr gute Empfehlung aussprechen.

Das Essen war hervorragend, top Qualität. Das Personal sehr freundlich, kompetent und auch zu einem Spaß bereit, was die Atmosphäre zusätzlich sehr angenehm machte. Immer wieder einen Besuch wert. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Vor Ort angekommen wurden wir vor dem Eingang sehr freundlich begrüßt. Bedienung auch allesamt sehr freundlich und sehr Aufmerksam! 5 Sterne 🌟 Die Auswahl der Speisekarte ist klein aber fein und für jeden etwas dabei, allerdings waren wir etwas schockiert über die Preise.....die uns etwas überzogen vorkamen....... Aber unsere Erwartungen wurden übertroffen, wir waren von der Qualität begeistert und von der Quantität ebenso!! Preise definitiv gerechtfertigt, Alles in allem sehr angenehm,freundlich und aufmerksamer Service. Einen Punktabzug gibt es leider für den Tisch, der für 8 Personen etwas klein war und ein paar Personen nicht ganz so entspannt Essen konnten und für die Toilette... Alles in allem war es aber sehr schön und wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Auch für größere Gruppen geeignet und trotz "Weihnachtsstreß" mit anderen Gruppen und einzelnen Gästen war das Essen hervorragend und der Service sehr gut. Wir kommen gerne wieder bei einem Besuch in Marburg.

Unterirdischer, oder besser, katastrophaler Service!!! Preis / Leistung … eine. Lacher wert!!! Die „ICH BIN DIE CHEFIN“, -> unmöglich, unverschämt, fern ab von dienstleistungsoriwntiert!!! …ach ganz ehrlich, für diesen Laden, ein weiters Wort zu verschwenden, ist ein vergeudetes Wort!! Dieser unterirdisch schlechte Laden ist absolut nicht zu empfehlen!!!
