Ganesha Restaurant - Haidhausen in München

We made a reservation with The Fork, and according to the description, there's a 50% discount on all dishes except thalis! We arrived, and the waiter tried to explain that the discount was excluded from everything except main courses – that's not correct! After a long discussion, during which they refused to allow me to contact the manager, we left without eating anything! Either you're part of the program – no exceptions – or you just don't! You've seen the last of us! Definitely not recommended!

The food was really not good. The butter chicken had a strong paprika flavor and was watery. The naan was too thick and inedible.

A fantastic Indian restaurant with great food and great service.

I used to go here years ago so I went back to see what it was like. It was still OK. Nothing special. It was probably the smallest portions I've had in an Indian restaurant in Munich. They also don't give you complimentary poppadoms to start or complimentary shots to finish, which most Indian restaurants in Munich do. I also had to ask 2 different waiters for my beer as it seemed that the first one forgot. I won't be rushing back.

Average experience at lunch. The sauce seemed like it was from a can. However, the space was fresh and the restrooms were clean.

I would phrase it like, this resturant is not for Indians/ Desi people.The height is they didn't respond anything eventhough I complained about 5/7 items we ordered. I would never recommend this overpriced and less quantity very ok taste food.

As a Bengali girl I can confirm the taste is closed to the Authenticity for Biriyani. Honestly speaking I tried many Biriyanis in restaurants in Munich but all of them are totally fakes. The biriyani from this restaurant I can confirm that it is so good.

I ordered Karahi Murgh here, expecting an authentic flavor explosion – unfortunately, the dish was dominated by garlic and tomato paste. The Indian spices that usually characterize this dish were barely noticeable. ✅ What was okay: • There were enough vegetables in the dish. • The prices are fair. ❌ What was disappointing: • The chicken was dry – either overcooked or not fresh enough. • The sauce was too simple – mostly garlic and tomato paste, without any real depth or spice balance. • Yogurt as a topping – unusual and not typical for Karahi Murgh. • The atmosphere was rather plain – cheap lighting, little charm. Conclusion: If you're looking for authentic Indian cuisine, you won't really find it here. It's okay for a quick, inexpensive bite, but there are definitely better Indian restaurants in Munich.

We went to Ganesha for the first time because we happened to be in the neighborhood and were craving Indian food. Admittedly, it doesn't look like much from the outside (or inside), but what matters to me is the food and the service, and for both, it gets full marks. We would go back!

We were in the restaurant for the first time on the holiday. I had reserved in advance. The service was very friendly and attentive. The portions are ok. The food tastes excellent. There are also many options for vegetarians. The prices are very good still. I can only recommend it.

Der Kellner kam zwei Mal um zu fragen, welches Getränk ich bestelle. Ich war unschlüssig und meinte, ›ich weiß noch nicht‹. Daraufhin wurde der Service äußerst unfreundlich, nicht einmal Trinkgeld wurde angenommen. Das Essen war eigentlich fast ok (Gemüse natürlich TK). So schnell gehe ich da nicht mehr hin.

Food was really good. Our best Indian food in Germany so far. We ordered butter chicken, duck curry and some nanns. The sauces were delicious and the meats were tender. We will definitely return.

Best Indian restaurant in Munich! The owner is a super friendly host and really appreciates his regular customers. The food is fresh, extremely delicious, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. The butter chicken, the garlic naan, the various thali dishes, vegetarian or with meat, and No. 135, a vegetarian dish with eggplant and paneer cheese in an almond sauce, are absolute musts! We come to Ganesha regularly, and the lunchtime dishes in particular are great value for money! There's also a snack bar next door, which is part of the service, where you can order delicious Indian wraps or bowls to go. I can recommend both 100%!

The taste was ok, a bit very generic and not very exciting. The chicken biryani was tasty and contained neither too much nor too little chicken, but the spinach with potatoes was very tailored to the European palate and had virtually no spice. Our samosas were quite unspectacular, but the raita was really well seasoned. The roti bread was also good.

Food was OK, average. I went here for lunch. I paid with my phone. The waiter charged me a greater tip than I had specified. I didn’t catch it at first. But then I did. I was shocked. I told him and he unapologetically returned the overpayment.

Exquisite selection of food, and truly authentic Indian cuisine, with diligent, polite and friendly service that anticipate your every need. Sweet decor with paintings of Indian cities done by local painters. A must visit, you will not be disappointed.

Eating took a long time. Sauce is very thin and seems stretched. Otherwise fine

Chai was delicious. Mango cream with vanilla ice cream was delicious. The ambience didn't really suit me. At some point the LED fairy lights were switched on and that made it too bright, sterile and uncomfortable. Putting the pick-up bags on the table next door and leaving them there until you pick them up works much better.

Good Indian restaurant, although I have to say that most Indian restaurants in Munich are very similar. This one was at least average and has delicious and cheap lunch options. Portions sufficient. All in all very good.

There were two of us there. The staff were very nice. The restaurant is nice but we were very disappointed with the food. All the dishes tasted old, weren't fresh and weren't warm. The basmathi rice was not good quality. Sorry to have to write such a review. We come from Srilanka and know Indian cuisine very well. . Hope it will improve in the future.

Very good restaurant with very friendly staff. We always enjoy going there.

We had dinner tonight. Service was fast and staff are friendly. HOWEVER, we ordered chicken kharai and the menu states that it is served with white rice like other curry dishes. They brought it without rice and tell us the rice is for extra charge! Further, we asked if biryani is serviced with raita and the waitress said yes.. again they served it without raita and when we asked for they said it is for extra charge! Portions are small and the food is so salty. We will never come again.

Empfehlenswertes indisches Restaurant in der Nähe des Ostbahnhof. Auf der Speisekarte stehen die üblichen indischen Gerichte zu etwas gehobenen Preisen. Die Angaben zum Schärfegrad sollte man ernst nehmen. Ich hatte das Chicken Vindaloo, dass in der Karte als sehr scharf bezeichnet wird. Eine Angabe, die absolut zutreffend war. Extrem scharf, aber auch sehr lecker. Der Nachtisch - Gulab Jamun - war leider etwas enttäuschend. Der Service war zügig und aufmerksam, wenn auch nicht übermäßig freundlich.

I love Indian food but usually get quite bloated within a few hours after eating. This is the first Indian restaurant I've found that doesn't give me a stomach ache afterwards! The food is a little on the expensive side but I think it's definitely worth it. By far my favourite Indian place in Munich.

We ordered Mutton Biryani and Ingwer Naan from this Indian restaurant via Wolt delivery. Unfortunately, the food was quite ordinary and lacked the delicious flavors we were hoping for. It didn't meet our expectations, and we didn't enjoy the meal much. I think 2 stars is fair.

We specifically ordered from Ganesha because they offer reusable packaging from Relevo. Unfortunately, the order came in disposable despite the Relevo User ID being entered correctly in the ordering process. It's a shame that they actually offer the opportunity to save garbage, but then don't manage to do it.

Customers should stop going. There are far better Indian restaurant in Munich. The small pathetic meat portions, and overpriced. Taste average good, can be better. Service is not great at all. Definitely do not recommend this place, think twice before you visit. Highly dissapointed

The range of drinks could be expanded and the food was good but not sensational

I don't understand what the hype is all about. Food is okay and expensive for the small portions. The only positive is service, but I wouldn't come back unless they improve their food quality.

I ordered Shahi Baignan - eggplant with paneer in a creamy sauce. Unfortunately there were no eggplants in the food anywhere. Rarely have I been so disappointed with a delivery dish. A liter of sauce and some rice - I'm not full.

Nach meiner Antwort „Barzahlung“ auf die Frage, ob ich mit Karte oder in bar bezahle, habe ich keine gedruckte Rechnung erhalten, sondern der Kellner hat nur handschriftlich auf einen Zettel die Beträge gekritzelt und mir hingehalten. Da frage ich mich natürlich, ob hier Steuern vermieden werden. Auch bei Barzahlung sollte es eine ordentliche gedruckte Rechnung geben, und darauf bestehe ich nächstes Mal. Ich muss auch Steuern zahlen.

On my first visit I really wanted to eat some great lentil soup. Then came Chicken Pakora and at the end, as dessert: Kulfi 🙂 Everything was very tasty. You can also experience real hospitality and great service here. Thank you very much for that and see you next time!

Great food, authentic Indian taste

Das war im vergangenen Jahr, 2023. Bis jetzt ist es das schlechteste indische Restaurant, das ich kenne, und ich kenne wirklich sehr gute. Es gab keinen Gruß aus der Küche, wie es bei anderen indischen Restaurants üblich ist. Bei meinem Gericht gab es lediglich 2 winzige Stücke Lamm und 2 winzige Stücke Hähnchen in der Soße – eine bewusste Täuschung meiner Meinung nach, weil ich es von anderen Lokalen anders kenne. Wir beschwerten uns, denn für ein 18€ Gericht ist so wenig Fleisch inakzeptabel. Da hätten wir genauso gut zum Araber oder Perser gehen können und uns eine Grillplatte mit deutlich mehr Fleisch bestellen können für weniger Geld. Als Wiedergutmachung bekamen wir einen Chai, der der schlechteste Chai meines Lebens war, und ein Dessert, das sehr flüssig war. Es wurde uns zwar mehr Fleisch angeboten, aber zu diesem Zeitpunkt wollten wir nichts mehr dort essen. Fünf Minuten nachdem wir das Lokal verlassen hatten und auf dem Weg nach Hause im Auto waren, bekamen wir starke Bauchschmerzen. Wir mussten dringend zur Aral Tankstelle, um auf die Toilette zu gehen, und BEIDE hatten wir Durchfall. Uns ging es die Tage danach nicht gut. Keine Empfehlung für dieses Lokal, es sei denn, ihr habt keine Ahnung vom Essen. In München gibt es zahlreiche bessere indische Restaurants.

Lugar muy agradable y con una muy buena atencion. Comimos Thallis vegetariano y fue un gran acierto, 6 platos variados vegetarianos con pan, arroz y una mini ensalda. Pedimos un vino y nos lo sirvieron casi como si estuvieramos en un local especializado en vinos (la atencion el vino era normalazo). El precio muy acorde a lo pedido, unos 55€. Volveriamos sin dudarlo.

Ganesha Street Food! Große Wraps gibt es nebenan bei Ganesha Street Food. Mehrere vegetarische und vegane Varianten. Sehr lecker! Schneller und netter Service! Habe ich gerade entdeckt und kann ich empfehlen!

Kein papadam und mango degistif. Das kriegt man sonst überall. Portionen winzig klein. Geizig wenig reis und nan. Ein stern mehr für das außenambiente.

mittagessen. ich nehme thalis: masala hähnchen, palak paneer, gurken raita und salat. papadam ist auch dabei. dazu könnte ich für eine vorspeise zwischen salat und suppe wählen, aber da es viel zu heiss für suppe ist, nehme ich den salat, obwohl schon bei den thalis einer dabei ist. dazu garlic naan und eine maracuja schorle. kleiner hübsch dekorierter schanigarten in die pariser strasse hinein. man hört die rosenheimer kaum. die getränke kommen und eine wespe hat meine schorle sofort endeckt. während ich noch versuche das glas mit einer serviette abzudecken, kommt auch schon die reizende, aufmerksame bedienung mit kleinen tellern um die gläser am tisch abzudecken. DAS ist toller, aufmerksamer service. das essen kommt schnell und ist schmackhaft. das naan ist frisch, kross aber saftig, wie es sein soll. wer richtig scharf essen will darf kein masala hähnchen wählen, aber ich wette, auch für sonderwünsche hätte die wunderbare servicekraft eine lösung gefunden. sehr schöner mittagstisch, gerne wieder!

Das Curry dünnflüssig und fad - 4 Bröckchen Huhn sind doch etwas wenig für den Preis. Dafür hatte das bestellte Getränk ordentlich „Aroma“, wobei man Schweißgeruch eher im Fitnessstudio erwartet. Das Ambiente eher lieblos. Die Bedienung etwas langsamer, als das man das von anderen Indern der Stadt gewohnt ist. Werde sicherlich nicht mehr kommen.

They opened a new streetfood-shop next to the restaurant and the vegetarian paneer wrap (lots of veggies and paneer inside a naan bread) is absolutely incredible and was beyond my expectations! would definitely recommend

Das Curry Chicken war köstlich. Hier würde ich wieder essen.

The first thing I have to say is that the food is delicious, the best indian food I have ever had. We used to go there almost every month for at least three years, but one day we had a misunderstanding with our usual waiter, who used to be very friendly, we apologized even when it was no ones fault but from that day on every time we went we did not feel welcome, they stopped giving us complementary snacks like everybody around us; he took our order with a bitter face. When we decided to stop going was when the manager was saying hi to people over there, we used to always talked to him, we said hi and he skipped our table. Ok, that was enough, you should not go to a place to spend your money and feel like this.

Leider hat mich das Essen nicht wirklich begeistern können. Irgendwie alles etwas fad, ohne besondere Note. Service war so gerade noch in Ordnung. Kenne es aber von anderen indischen Restaurants deutlich bemühter. Kein Essen wird aufgetan, alles irgendwie auf den Tisch gestellt. Portionen sind auch eher was für den sehr kleinen Hunger. Insgesamt leider keine Empfehlung.

Chicken Korma was okay but just not enough chicken inside. 5 small pieces and lot's of sauce. Overall good taste but just not enough meat for price of 15€.

It’s so Lucky there is such authentic Restaurant with so delicious food near to my hotel. I was starving and the food was exactly the size and taste I like. I‘ve ordered Maracuja Lassi and Paneer Tikka Masala. Very tasty! Friendly staff and quiet place. Recommend to visit.
