Fränk'ness in Nürnberg

A bit pricey, but still recommendable, delicious dishes.

It's a nice place in itself, but we paid €70 per person for mediocre food. Why? Because everything costs extra, even the sauce for the main course was €7. And the main course itself already cost €39. I would have expected the sauce or a side dish to be included.

Amazing restaurant, by coincidence we at there 3 nights in a row and the food was amazing every time. File, duck and prime rib. All amazing. Service great!

The worst service I've ever experienced. I never leave negative reviews, but the service was such a disaster that I have to. I ate dessert with my dinner plates without clearing them, and they brought my meal without the wine (even though I'd ordered it 25 minutes earlier). An absolute disaster. As for the food, it was nothing special.

The food is consistently excellent. I've rarely eaten so well. No frills, just down-to-earth cuisine reinterpreted and of the highest quality. However, the service is not commensurate with the price (I sat in the restaurant for 15 minutes before anyone asked about drinks, waited an hour for the appetizer without any "just a moment," and the staff were dressed in T-shirts and gossiping while the place was packed). Sorry, but that's not worth the price.

We visited this restaurant for the first time on a recommendation. The food was absolutely outstanding. Despite our expectations, we were very pleasantly surprised. The service was also exceptional. Tanja looked after us throughout our visit and made it a truly enjoyable experience. We also had the opportunity to chat with the chef, Loraine, who prepared the food with love and perfection. The ambiance was also very inviting and comfortable. We will definitely be back.

I personally did not like the food. The duck was swimming in blood and my beetroot salad was very sour. My tea and cosmopolitan drink were good. Staff is friendly but the overall service felt slow. They did offer to fix it but I was at that point too hungry to wait again. Personally I would not recommend. Although the atmosphere is cozy, you need to be prepared to stink as whatever it is served there which is not something I appreciate.

Would not personally recommend. I had the duck breasts and beetroot salad but I did not particularly like either.

Hello, my wife and I were there two weeks ago. We had a wonderful time, the staff was fantastic, and the food was great. I would drive from Leverkusen to Nuremberg just for the dessert (apple strudel). Thank you so much for the wonderful time we spent at your restaurant. P.S. Very attentive and friendly waiters. They can speak English, apart from German, without any problems. The restaurant has a modern vibe to it. The food was good, but on the upper scale price-wise. If you don't mind spending a bit more, then this is the perfect restaurant to have a nice evening.

A very good choice in the center of Nuremberg, a fresh start with a rosé sparkling wine from the Am Stein winery, we would also be pleased with a larger selection of wines by the glass in the Silvaner, Riesling or Pinot Noir varieties, but we had a very good Cuvée from the Pfalz. The food is excellent at a reasonable price-quality ratio, Alexander Hermann's signature is evident.

We were there last night (Saturday during peak hours) and were absolutely thrilled. The service was top-notch, the atmosphere was fantastic, and the food was divine. The four of us had the Exporten Brettla (a mixed grill) and it was a truly memorable experience. Everything was beautifully presented. The flavors of the dishes were simply wow! 🤩

We had a very good meal; we started with a salad and beef tartare. Both were delicious. For our main course, we had Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) and the goat cheese pan. The atmosphere was great, and Tanja's service was excellent.

I was absolutely shocked. The food was a complete disaster, and then to top it off, it cost €190 for a lunch for five people, each only getting a drink. The taste was awful. Canteen food is better. It was an absolute disgrace. The chef should find another profession. It was awful from beginning to end. I'm furious and sad that €190 wasted. It's truly sad that a chef would serve something like this, no matter how much he cares or he's happy.

Franconian-inspired cuisine with a modern twist. Delicious. The restaurant is very centrally located and has a bright, modern interior, contrasting with the whitewashed brick walls. There are private dining rooms with unique themes. Our server, Tanja, was very attentive and friendly. The only downside: you need to allow plenty of time; we were there for a total of two hours.

Great food (Franconian Burger Deluxe and stone-baked fish pan), plus delicious homemade lemonade. The warm and friendly service greets you as soon as you walk in. Thanks to Loraine in the kitchen/at the pass and to the lovely Tanja in the front of house.

We specifically asked if there were nuts in the food and were told no, but there were almonds in the dish.

That was an exceptionally lovely evening in Nuremberg. We were served a delicious autumnal menu, accompanied by fine wines. We thoroughly enjoyed our Franconian experience.

Unfortunately, much worse than expected. The reviews were excellent, and what we'd heard seemed to confirm it, especially since we're talking about a more upscale restaurant. We didn't receive any drink menus (only after asking), and only 4 out of 5 of our group received a food menu. Two of the steaks we ordered were cooked incorrectly. Mine was cooked correctly at first, but unfortunately, it was tough and overcooked in most places (I ordered it medium). The side dish (garlic bread) was also over-toasted (though it was actually quite tasty). Our drinks were empty, and we weren't asked if we wanted more. Towards the end of our meal, two more people spontaneously joined us for drinks, but they weren't greeted or offered a seat. The price simply doesn't reflect the quality. It's a shame, really, because there are definitely much better restaurants around here.

The four-course menu was very, very good (€82 per person). And with the spiced bread (absolutely fantastic) and the herbed cream cheese beforehand, we were very full.

We arrived at Fränk'ness on a whim, without a reservation, and were immediately given a table at the bar. Perhaps we were just lucky – but we were delighted nonetheless. The food was excellent, and we were truly satisfied with a shared appetizer and a main course each. We simply couldn't have eaten dessert. It was fascinating to watch the chefs at work, and they even took the time to chat with us. Thank you. The waitstaff could have checked in more often, but at least we received an (unsolicited) apology. Of course, we would have loved to have met Mr. Hermann there – perhaps next time. 😉 Dear Mr. Hermann, if you get in touch with us, we would be happy to share with you privately what we didn't find so positive – it would be unfair to discuss it all here.

So the service deserves 10 more stars. Both our server (we think her name is Hanni) and the wonderful cook. As far as I can tell, given my own intolerances, I haven't eaten more varied food in a long time. Everything was checked, discussed with me, and the food was great! The short conversations were also helpful. You almost feel like a thief with allergies, especially when changing your order... Truly, we've rarely been treated so kindly and accommodatingly, and no other restaurant is as helpful. Plus, the great show kitchen, the lovely atmosphere, and the high quality of the food – wonderful! Thank you for the evening and the excellent food!

Super delicious, the staff very accommodating as we were using a wheelchair. The restroom is easily accessible via the elevator. The lunch was super delicious, and I would gladly come back.

Despite having a reservation, we were seated at a "cat table" in a remote corner of the restaurant. For an aperitif, I had a non-alcoholic Spritz, which was good, and my husband had a non-alcoholic beer. We chose the four-course menu. Delicious warm bread with spread arrived as a welcome from the kitchen. The appetizer was shrimp in tomato sauce – it was ice cold and tasted okay. For the starter, we had vegetables from the stone oven, which was OK. I ordered a house soda to go with it. The main course was veal cheeks with new potatoes. Unfortunately, it tasted like it had been warmed over, and the potatoes were hard inside. The sauce also lacked flavor. I then ordered a different soda, with apple. Unfortunately, it felt like sawdust in the mouth. For dessert, my husband ordered an espresso – which never arrived. The dessert, according to the menu, was vanilla ice cream with cheesecake foam. What arrived was vanilla ice cream in a glass with a visually indefinable mush and 10 chocolate balls. What a shame, we were so excited :-(

We were at Fränk'ness for the opening dinner ahead of the it-sa trade fair, and it was fantastic. The menu was incredibly delicious and, as mentioned in some other reviews, sophisticated. The Nuremberg chefs were truly impressive with their sauerkraut for the starter, and the duck for the main course was spot on! The Kaiserschmarrn (smothered pancakes) was different than expected, but it rounded off the dinner beautifully. The service was very friendly and always prompt. A complete success!

Nice ambiance, average food. We ordered the Steak Tartare as an appetizer and were told it was small and we should order 2 for the 3 of us. We declined but did order the bread which was then recommended. The steak tartare was rather huge actually so we were stunned and felt kind of scammed. The bread slices with the tartare really too thick and HARD to spread the tartare on. The egg served with the tartare is usually a quail egg but we got a HUGE chicken egg. Unusual that grilled mushrooms also came with the tartare and were so so. The house bread albeit warm was more of a banana bread (not sweet though) and didn’t go well with the tartare either. My son’s sausage platter was okay. My friend’s salad bread bowl and soup per the lunch special was disappointing as it was small and tasteless. My vegetable ramen was more of a clean the refrigerator out of anything that is seemingly Asian and dump it into a bowl with spaghetti noodles. Ugh. Mediocre dining experience for my only visit to Nurnberg!

Excellent products, imaginatively crafted, but without any gimmicky gimmicks. Given the high quality, the prices can definitely be described as fair and moderate. If you prefer fine dining in a "normal" setting, this is the place for you! A definite recommendation.

It was a truly lovely evening. The food was excellent—we had beef fillet, duck breast, and various side dishes. The food in the restaurant was truly delicious, and the service was attentive, friendly, and very professional—absolutely nothing to complain about. Unfortunately, the price-to-quantity ratio doesn't quite match my expectations. The portions were significantly smaller than expected, which is disappointing considering the relatively high prices. Those who value excellent quality will certainly be happy here, but those who also want to be full should be prepared to dig a little deeper into their pockets. €60 per person and then leaving a restaurant with this concept hungry doesn't make sense to me. So, the jump to Imperial isn't far off, so I don't quite understand the difference.

Above all, the excellent service is outstanding. The lady knows her craft. The wonderful ambiance and delicious food complete the experience. Thank you very much for that.

This was seriously the best restaurant I've ever had in Germany! First of all, the waiter was so friendly! My plans were a bit shaky, so I popped in on a whim, but it was absolutely delicious. ㅠㅠ I ordered the first beer on the menu, and it was absolutely delicious! I guess beers with the restaurant's name on them are always the best. Haha For the main course(?), I had the three sausages, tartar, salad, and as a side dish, potatoes with cheese added(?)! Seriously, how soft was the tartar? The salad was just okay. But the sauce was refreshing, so it paired well with the other dishes. I should've ordered the five sausages. It was a bit small, but it paired really well with the truffle mushrooms. I highly recommend this restaurant! (Total cost: about 97 euros?)

We spent a pleasant evening in Nuremberg. We ordered one 4-course meal, one 3-course meal a la carte, and spaghetti with a children's side salad, as well as Kaiserschmarrn (sweet pancakes) for our daughter. We found the service a bit too lax at times, even though the restaurant only had around 20 guests during our visit. Sometimes, there were long waits for drinks orders or endless waiting times at the pass; this could be directly observed from the outdoor seating (intermediate course more than 5 minutes), and criticism was dismissed with a smile. Fruit flies in open wine are annoying, but preventable by consistently sealing the bottle; of course, they were replaced without hesitation. It should have been obvious with the first course, or at least communicated by the waiter, that the shrimp were raw. The braised vegetables were delicious, especially the pickled cauliflower, which played a great role here; unfortunately, the wait time at the pass was very long, 5 minutes or more. The veal cheeks and soba noodles with chanterelle mushrooms were also very tasty. The cheek was very soft, and the sauce was very tasty. The chanterelles were slightly dried, in my opinion, to intensify the flavor. My daughter was perfectly satisfied with the spaghetti Bolognese and salad. The baked cheese was also a great choice, especially the combination of warm, different cheeses, and the chutney. Unfortunately, the Kaiserschmarrn doesn't bear much resemblance to a traditional Schmarrn (smothered pancake). It was a sponge cake in strips with sugar, warmed in the oven, but the apricot and sour cream ice cream were really great. Unfortunately, it's not possible to award half stars, so only 3 stars for the food. The outdoor seating is nicely arranged, but also necessary to compensate for the noise of the pedestrian zone. Youth groups wander about in droves, and they let you in on their musical tastes at a very loud pace. We actually expected more from this evening, but whether it was due to the summer lull, I can't say. However, there will be a second tasting in the fall.

Five of us went out to dinner today with a reservation, and it was delicious. We had the burger with fries, two gratinated beef fillet dishes, a side salad with pork belly, and two oven-baked pancakes. For drinks, we had the Franconian house beer, a shandy, raspberry-lime iced tea, and an orange juice. We were very satisfied; it was delicious and met our requirements. Tanja was super nice and helped us choose our table; we had a wheelchair with us.

Everything was wonderful! The food was exquisitely seasoned and combined, not your average meal. The service was super friendly and attentive. The value for money is still good here if you want to treat yourself to something special. We'd love to come back!

The food was truly amazing; we had four different dishes at the table, and all of them were excellent. Delicious recipes and superbly seasoned, truly superb. And then there was the excellent and very friendly service—there's nothing to complain about, absolutely recommended.

The food was average; I would have expected more from this place. I had the flambéed shrimp and the burger. The location is great; you can reach the restaurant from the main train station in just a few minutes on foot; a car isn't necessary. The service (Tanja) is very polite, professional, and handles customer requests perfectly. She's the waitress that both guests and owners want!

Enjoying fries with cream cheese instead of ketchup and mayonnaise is definitely something you should try.
