The atmosphere and food are great. Someone who comes to Nuremberg should definitely have a meal here

delicious Franconian food and beer served in a very atmospheric small building by friendly people. Prices are very fair too, especially considering the location. I would strongly recommend trying the "Schäufele", it's an amazing dish.

The food was delicious and tasted really good. The sauerkraut with the Nurembergers was, like the Nurembergers themselves, of very good quality. The ambience is cool too. There is also vegan sausage.

Excellent traditional cuisine in a characteristic place The Fränkische Weinstube is in a perfect location, in the pedestrian area near the entrance tower of the city. The place is very characteristic, with a welcoming atmosphere that recalls the Franconian tradition. The cuisine is typical of the area: I tried the sausages with potatoes, really tasty, and the dessert, all at a modest price. The beer is excellent and the service was very kind and attentive. A recommended place for those who want to taste real traditional cuisine in an authentic environment!

A little bit touristy, but coming from the UK where we also have medieval structures and castles it was quite difficult (for a foreigner) to tell how fake it was. Maybe I'm just a skeptic. Either way, the decor was lovely, food was good and the lady serving me was very nice. A good introduction to German food and drink if you've just gotten off the Hbf!

Sadly, rude service for tourists. Asked us AFTER we ordered drinks if cash was ok. We said pay by card please, was then told it’s only cash for orders under €20. Our order for 2 drinks was €10.8. We said that’s ok we will pay €20 on card and get another beer later. I went to collect the second drink and was told no, you paid €20 for two drinks. I said we didn’t pay €20 for a beer and coke, we said we’d get another beer later to make the card minimum (the three drinks we ordered were still less than €20 and only totalled €15.7 - so they were still getting more for the drinks we had). She then rolled her eyes and told me we should have had cash, as there was a sign - that was facing another direction and not in direct line of sight. If we had have been told this before we ordered we would have left.

Great wine and beer bar in the Handwerkerhof. Very friendly service. Delicious food. There was meat loaf with potato salad. All in all a great lunch in a nice atmosphere.

We went there for a glass of wine. The wine was delicious. The atmosphere is great but unfortunately I think the price is a bit high for a quarter at just under 9 euros.

Very welcoming and intimate place. We ate well and on par with the usual German restaurants in the area. Fast and efficient service. The waitress was very nice and kind. We took the typical dishes including mixed Nuremberg sausages. Worth a dinner if you are passing through.

Don't be afraid, it looks touristic but prices are affordable and service is great. We were served by a girl called Bertina (I think) and she was delightful with us, patient and always smiling. She even helped us to put on our heavy backpack.

Massively overpriced tourist trap serving pure slob. They sell the cheapest sausages (looks like Bratwurstbruch von Wenk) to unassuming tourists for a ridiculous price.

Highly recommend. The food was wonderful, the staff was nice, and it sits in the perfect location.

Food - Ordered the pork shoulder and bratwurst which were prepared well and delicious. We ordered a lager and Fraconian spirit (was strong). Service was also good and tourist-friendly, made us feel welcome and comfortable. Location was good as it was located conveniently, could explore the Old Town after and a short walk to the train station.

The food wasn't cheap. Obazda for 12 euros, with 2 half dry slices of supermarket bread is not exactly good value for money. The service is better. The location is nice though. But I wouldn't go there a second time.

The worst meal we have ever been served. Smallest positions, no taste. The service was rude and couldn't understand our complaint and was endlessly unfriendly. I can only recommend food to enemies!

Good Franconian food, served quickly and tasty. Unfortunately, we were charged extra for pretzels, which were included at Obatzer's but we didn't order them separately. Our reference to this was ignored and the previous friendliness was lost. It's a shame, it was probably a long evening... Otherwise it's really nice there and very rustic, prices are okay.

The Franconian wine tavern in the Handwerkerhof is a rustic restaurant with Franconian specialties. It is definitely advisable to make a reservation in advance, whether outside in summer or inside in winter. In addition to the standard menu, there are also changing daily specials. Very cozy and delicious.

UPDATE 2024: we did indeed return again! Still excellent, and we loved the special book with pictures and the english terms. Extremely kind staff, amazing food :D 2023: Lovely little restaurant, food was amazing, and the waitress we had was very kind as we butchered the German language! She helpfully spoke English for us too. We will definitely go back again.

We were looking for a quick route from the hotel and came across this restaurant. The service staff was very friendly and attentive. Both meals tasted very good and were sufficient. Everything was very good and invites you to come back.

I was there three weeks ago. I drank beer and enjoyed life. A very atmospheric place located in the old part of the city, close to the railway station.

I wasn't expecting anything when I ordered the vegan option. It was undercut without any problems. To complete the idea: there were unsalted jacket potatoes (halved) and sausages from the pack. More. Not. Oh, mustard from a plastic bag. For an outrageous price of €15 and unfriendly staff on top of that. I think that should also apply to every other food. You have to know.

Traveling vegan Americans here… we passed this place while exploring Nürnberg and decided we should come back for dinner. We loved the atmosphere and they had an English menu which showed one vegan (and a couple of vegetarian) options. We sat outdoors, which is fine and not too cold yet (it’s October 5th). Drinks and food are delivered quickly. Our vegan sausages were delicious and hot; however, the potatoes were cold and didn’t have much flavor. Note: we think the potatoes are simple boiled with some salt. We had a good experience here and were happy to find a place with vegan options!

The location of the restaurant is quite lovely and we had a good time with some good beer. I'm also very appreciative that they offer a vegan option. It was not vegan bratwurst as expected, but little sausages and some potatoes on the side that were already cold when served. The dish could be better. Might have been much better with sauerkraut.

Phantastische Lage im Handwerkerhof. Wir hatten einen Platz im Innenhof, so dass wir vor dem größten Trubel geschützt waren. Unser Kellner war auf Zack, sowohl Bestellannahme als auch Getränke- und Speisenlieferung ging überraschend schnell. Die Kruste unserer Schäufele fand ich von der Optik nicht optimal, aber geschmacklich gut und auch das Fleisch lecker. Dazu etwas Sauerkraut und einen Kartoffel- und einen Semmelkloß zu einem für diese Lage günstigen Preis. Kein Restaurant für ein feines Essen, aber für einen touristischen Besuch sicher eine gute Wahl.

Gezellige leuke plek en heerlijk witbier maar de wijn is zeer prijzig en we hadden de slechtste ( één keus) en duurste rode wijn van Duitsland volgens mij ( € 8,90 per glas).

A quaint restaurant with delicious beer and great food, we recommend Schäufle

Visit on September 15, 24 at 4:45 p.m. We were immediately pressured to order the food because the kitchen supposedly closes at 5 p.m. and so does the restaurant. . But just before 6 p.m., meal orders were still being taken. My Schäufele with sauerkraut and two dumplings was quite ok, although I've eaten much better ones in Nuremberg. The schnitzel for my wife was a joke. The potato salad only tasted like vinegar, the Schnirzel came out of the deep fryer and was tasteless and at a price of 16.90 euros. I can get it better in any fast food joint.

On our way out of Nuremberg, we stopped at Fränkische Weinstube for a glass of wine. This charming restaurant in the old town has a beautiful setting, and the menu looked authentically Franconian. It’s a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the local atmosphere.

Very nice service and just a great ambience.

The place is nice inside a medieval village. The food is typical, but nothing exceptional. I found it quite expensive in relation to the very basic service.

Eating in the beautiful outdoors was a pleasure! The sausage potatoes were so delicious and the beer was good too :)

Sembra di essere finiti nel medioevo, location suggestiva, via degli artigiani, ingresso da una porta antica, interno caratteristico, tavoli esterni suggestivi, servizio allegro e veloce, cibo e prezzo in linea.

You feel like you've been transported back to the middle ages of the common people. If you are very hungry, you should treat yourself to an appetizer. Prices are OK.

A wonderful place 100% recommendable

Beautifully located in the middle of small half-timbered houses, close to the train station. Super nice service. Food and drinks came super quickly. The Schäufele were outstanding. My wife's only complaint about the schnitzel was the lack of cranberries. So complaining at an extremely high level and definitely not worth deducting points. 😉

Ein me absolut schnucklige kleine Weinstube in der man sehr gut sitzt. Der Service war atemberaubend gut, die Gerichte und Auswahl absolut ausreichend und sehr lecker. Die Portionen waren groß. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder hier her. Es empfiehlt sich vorher anzurufen wenn man in einer Gruppe kommt und reserviert, das auch ein passender Tisch frei ist. Lasst es euch schmecken.

Absolutely rubbish. Rude, swampy salad with a pool.of stale water at the bottom and then the guy asks for a tip... Yes! He actually asked for a tip... When I told him the tip was to strain the salad he seemed to be quite annoyed, even threw my credit card on the table after I paid...

Hello everyone. The atmosphere of this restaurant is very nice. Cozy, rustic. Service was actually nice, good and quick. I ordered 6 sausages with sauerkraut/bread for about €13. Of course they were small Nuremberg bratwursts. Unfortunately it was thrown onto the plate very carelessly. Visually, yes. When I turn on the grill my sausages look better. It's good that I was allowed to eat my wife's food together, then I was full🤦‍♂️. I paid the bill for 63& with the card. I was still thinking about how much tip I wanted to give when the waitress already typed in €70 and asked if that was appropriate. At the moment I was so surprised that I said yes. In hindsight it was my own fault. But do you do that? They can afford it. You are simply a passing customer. Unfortunately. I don't go there anymore.

Absolutely unfriendly service! I asked quite normally what was on the “Brotzeitplatte”. Instead of giving a normal, friendly answer, they just said flippantly that there were all sorts of things on it and it was always changing. And whether she should list all the things. I then missed the meal and the waitress then argued with me (as she was charging other guests) and portrayed me as a misogynist. Absolute no-go and super rude! At the end she “apologized”. But that didn't feel like it was meant seriously.

Super cozy traditional Franconian restaurant with high spirits and good atmosphere. We were served by a very accommodating waiter who gave us an excellent explanation of the local beers and food when he heard that we were not local. The food was simple, traditional and good - unfortunately so good that several of the dishes were sold out when we arrived, but we lived fine with the grilled local sausages and the potato salad.

The restaurant has a very atmospheric atmosphere, with a sense of age and excitement. The toilet is on the second floor. We ordered some traditional German food. The fried pork is very special. The fried pork skin is fragrant and crispy. When you bite it, you will feel happy in your mouth. What goes with the fried pork chop is not the traditional German gnocchi, but a greasy potato salad. The kids love it! The fried pork cutlet is delicious, but it is recommended to share it as it is less greasy. The sausage is very fragrant and crispy but salty. It needs to be paired with bread. Unfortunately, the bread is at room temperature. It would be better if it can be heated. The chicken breast salad I ordered for the greens was great, the chicken was delicious.

Had a small gab between trains so popped over the road and came across this place. Staff were the friendliest we encountered across 4 German cities. Really hospitable. Food was tasty and well priced.

Every way should have a goal. And for our bike trip, it was Bavarian sausage and cabbage in the beautiful city of Nuremberg. The goal was achieved, the only thing missing to perfection was a pretzel instead of bread (exchange instead of bread was not possible) and that great sweet Bavarian mustard. But we still enjoyed our destination 😅.

Bitte schicken Sie die Leute nicht weg, wenn es etwas herausfordernd wird. Ich habe lediglich darum gebeten, ein kleines Getränk zu erhalten. Dass sie verärgert waren, das Getränk nicht in groß zu servieren, kann ich nach voll ziehen. Wenn ich mich entschuldige und um ein kleines Getränk bitte, dann ist das kein Grund den Gast zu bitten, den Tisch zu verlassen. Ich war immer wieder bei Euch aber leider heute das letzte Mal. Bitte geht so nicht mit den Gästen um- auch Gäste können sich bei der Bestellung irren und jeder Gast ist in der heutigen Zeit wichtig für diese Branche.

Nice restaurant with inflexible service. No more dumplings at 9 p.m. on Saturday evenings in high season because the kitchen has to close. What was worse, however, was that as a guest you were no longer allowed to use the toilet at 9:50 p.m. because it had already been cleaned before closing time. Instead I was sent to the public toilet with obscure arguments. It doesn't work at all. Unfortunately, I cannot muster the understanding of what was expected of me.

Eating was no longer possible as the kitchen would be closed in an hour (!). Everything else was very perfunctory and the wine was of inferior quality

Great food good service very nice location

Nicely done for tourists in traditional style. Unfortunately, the service also has to be described as “rustic Franconian”. Our drink order was quickly taken and as we walked away we whispered, “There’s nothing left to eat today.” Would have been good to know in advance. On the bill we ended up with a portion of bratwursts as well as the pretzel, which was placed on the table without comment even though there was little going on and a mix-up was therefore unlikely. Drinks were good, the food at the next table also looked delicious.

Die Weine und des Essen könnten gerne einen Habs günstiger sein, allerdings geeh ich auch davon aus, dass man für die Location einiges an Pacht zu bezahlen hat. Das Bier ist mit 4,70€/0,5 Liter im günstigen Segment. Unsere Bedienungen waren Robust aber freundlich, so dass wir hier einen schönen Abend verbringen konnten.

Fast and friendly traditional german food. Delicious vegetarian cheese spatzel

Food wise it was OK. The meat dish was delicious, the vegan dish could have used a little more love. Boiled potatoes without sauce and mustard from the package. There are ways to enhance the dish without much additional effort. Simple coleslaw, for example, would have done the trick. We bought vanilla ice cream with hot raspberries for almost €9 for our little one. The vanilla ice cream was nothing special, and there were small maggots in the hot raspberries. Even after we showed it to the waitress and she showed it to the kitchen, there wasn't a cent discount or insight. It just came as a comment: "We get it delivered frozen, we can't help it." We are more than disappointed.

The service was very friendly and accommodating and thought through! The ambience in the Handwerkerhof is of course great, but the benches are a bit too hard for me... The food was largely very tasty, although I had the sausage plate and some of the sausages were fried a bit too dark

Ate very good, freshly prepared bratwursts in the afternoon. Excellent, fresh bread with it, and sauerkraut ok too. Friendly service. Good "counter-event" to the hectic main station, where the sausages aren't even hot.
