It has good and delicious food, but the service is a bit poor

Unfortunately, I hoped for more from the restaurant. The food was okay, but the service was a disaster. The waiter who took our order was completely arrogant and unsympathetic and I would even call him cheeky and snippy. I would also like to describe this waiter, he had blonde hair, blue eyes and an earring. Maybe you'll read that and take it to heart.

A very positive experience, the dinner was really worth it. The friendly welcome was great. After we sat down, bread was brought straight away, which was very tasty and apparently homemade. The waiter, Marvin, asked two quick questions to select the perfect wine for my wife. In general, it was Marvin who made our evening better. Always attentive, and his broad, friendly smile was not artificial, but came out naturally, which showed that he enjoyed his job. We will come back just to be served by him again. I had never seen the scallops on spinach like this before, but they tasted very good. The seafood platter was very good in terms of taste and also in terms of price. Personally, I would prefer to serve three smaller sea snails instead of two large ones. They taste better. The plaice “Finkenwerder Art” was a poem in terms of taste. A good portion and completely appropriate for the price. Plus the fried potatoes, which were masterfully prepared for me. And the salad was tasty too. I was rather disappointed with the dessert. As a lover of the “Dame Blanche” (White Lady), I was rather annoyed. Two small scoops of vanilla ice cream and a dollop of whipped cream, but a large pot of hot chocolate is not what you imagine when you think of Dame Blanche. Whoever put this together should be banned from Dame Blanche for life. A real Dame Blanche consists of three large vanilla ice cream balls lined up next to each other with a strip of whipped cream parallel to the balls. Add a small pot of hot chocolate, just enough to pour over the ice cream balls and to draw a few drops or thin strokes over the cream! But all in all it was a nice dinner we had, thanks also to the friendly and smiling waiter Marvin. We'll definitely be back. In terms of price, the restaurant is in the upper middle class, but the price-performance ratio is completely ok.

Fantastisches Fischspezialitäten Restaurant im Herzen Düsseldorfs! Grandioses Essen, toller Gastgeber und sehr aufmerksamer Service! Preisleistung passt 👍. Sehr zum empfehlen die warme gemischte Vorspeise mit Garnelen, Tintenfisch, Muscheln, etc. Zur Hauptspeise muss man unbedingt die Seezunge mit Blattspinat probieren, diese ist phänomenal! Lange nicht mehr so gut gegessen.

I have it myself. Expected more, it was ok considering the food. However, if I wanted to invite someone, I wouldn't go there because the service, at least one of the staff members, was very unsympathetic and not service-oriented. When asked what kind of fish variations a fish plate has, he just rolled his eyes. We were also seated at a table that had not been newly set and that had not been newly set for us.

We ate the baked calamari as a starter, but unfortunately they were too wobbly. There was also bread and a dip (extremely tasty). The main course was very, very tasty (fried pollock fillet) and I can recommend it.

A delicious fish restaurant in the heart of the Altstadt. Beautiful lobster and a mixed grill of fish. First Jacob's shells on a bed of spinach and cheese. A truly wonderful meal. The wine was also excellent and the service 1st class. The general atmosphere in the restaurant is cheerful and inviting. Great tent and highly recommended.

The food is really good - value for money in Düsseldorf Old Town! However, it's sad that with a bill of 300.00 euros (2 people) you aren't even offered an espresso.

Unfortunately, we also had this experience in Germany. Our order arrived incomplete. The fish came with 2 sprigs of parsley?!... and a piece of lemon. We asked for the salad. I think the tomato in the salad was taken from another plate, and I'm not exaggerating, there was only one piece of salad. Believe me, the quality of the green sauce was below average, I have never experienced such a disappointment in my life.

The food was ok but nothing more. What was disturbing was the service. One of the wine glasses was was not tasting well - almost like it was soap left in the glass’s we complained but the waiter and the manager was not willing to refund the wine glass even we ordered full meal and starter.

We didn’t like the food. Dover sole was undercooked & bad. Sea bass was not cleaned properly. Tiramisu was very bad, it is apparent on the photo I took. I came here during the yacht show 2 years ago and I was very happy but now it felt like a 1 star restaurant for sure. The establishment needs put itself in order. It hurt to pay this much for a bad experience.

Unfortunately we didn't have a good day. For starters we had soups, unfortunately too salty for us. For the main course, the sea bream was also too salty and the seafood platter was unfortunately not really fresh either - a shame!

Please do not go to that restaurant.Prices are to high for what you get the quality of the food is mediocre and the waiters are not well trained in customer service.

The food is excellent.☆☆☆☆☆ I can't criticize anything about that. Even the fries are incredibly good. The service is friendly and quick. That was my first visit and certainly not my last. So far I can only give positive feedback.

We were here for dinner. All around great experience - attentive friendly service, great value for money, delicious food and a great atmosphere!

The quality in this restaurant is catastrophic. Lobster soup that tastes horrible, horrible wines and fish drowned in cheap fat. On top of that, the whole thing doesn’t seem fresh… A bitter disappointment!

Ordered seafood spaghetti, fish soup, oyster shot and grilled squid salad. The spaghetti was on the salty side which made us thankful we ordered the salad to neutralize.. Fish soup was so rich but also salty. The grilled squid salad was good but costed 19.5 euro. Overall this is most we spent for a meal in our whole trip and it is definitely not one of our favorite ones. The ambiance and service was good though.

We visited this restaurant, unfortunetly we didn’t actually get to taste the food, because we had to wait for over 20 minutes for a waiter to come to our table to order atleast some drinks, after that when I asked one of the waiters if we can order he blinked at me with his eye and went away. I can’t really recommend this kind of rudeness, it never happened to me before.

We came with a group, but they gave us a cheaper fish, contrary to what they said. Instead of cod they gave us sea bass and it was not tasty at all. The calamari was delicious.

Variety of mouthwatering oysters. Fish portions were excellent as well. We were a group of eight and everybody was more than satisfied. Great wine selection, too. Decent price level with truly attentive and professional service. Highly recommended.

Extremely poor service attitude. When I entered the store before 21:00, the first thing the waiter said was "We are closing soon". As soon as he sat down, he asked what dishes to order. Google closed at 23:00, and at 21:10 he had already started to clear away customers. , with a nonchalant look on his face, I won’t come again

To this day it has been our regular restaurant in Düsseldorf to eat delicious salmon trout fillet. However, this time we were disappointed. Apart from the fact that the price has now risen to €21.50, the quality is unfortunately in great need of revision. You could almost count the fried potatoes on one hand and they had definitely been in the pan or wherever for some time. It's a shame, I think that was the last time we visited the restaurant.

What a great find of a restaurant. Its so nice to get a seafood break from all the meat to be eaten whilst in Dusseldorf. So much so that I ate here twice in one week. Great seafood selection and nice with the market style fresh seafood shown

Keep your hands off the edible crabs!!!! The taste was okay, but it's the second time I've eaten it and then spent the night puking on the toilet. Since it had been a while since the first time, I had forgotten about it until a friend asked me why I even ate it again since I had already done so recently. Only then did the memory come back. Probably stored incorrectly or long dead by the time you made it. Never again. To eat good crab you probably have to get out of Germany, I'll definitely give it up!!!

Everthing changed here. Food is bot good as previous. We had very salty soup couldnt eat and told the waitress he didnt do anything and grill fish was very dry and salata without souce asked for lemon even thet didnt bring.we waited a lot for service also. On a bustling Saturday night, obtaining a table was surprisingly swift and seamless, thanks to the recommendation of a discerning German friend. Anticipating a German-inspired take on seafood cuisine, my experience, unfortunately, was riddled with disappointments. The seafood soup, marred by excessive saltiness, suffered from issues of fish freshness, compounded by the unwelcome discovery of fish bones, further exacerbated by the overpowering salt seasoning. The octopus salad, while palatable, revealed a lack of finesse in preparation; the inconsistency in the octopus cuts disrupted the enjoyment of a uniform bite. However, the seasoning, featuring olive oil and lemon, was exceptional, somewhat compensating for the other deficiencies. Upon inquiring about their premier grilled fish, the waiter recommended the mixed grill with great assurance. Regrettably, this proved to be a letdown as the fish arrived stir-fried rather than grilled, drenched in oil, and comprising disappointingly thin fillets that lacked substantiality. The accompanying potatoes were equally subpar, devoid of proper seasoning and rendered soggy from substandard stir-frying. This establishment does not meet the expectations of those who appreciate a truly refined seafood experience. Despite the amiable and prompt service, there were lapses, with both myself and other patrons needing to address missing components of our orders.

This has never happened to me before. Ordered and waited for one hour while the waiter kept saying the food was coming. Never came and an other whole hour passed until we had to order the check for the drinks and leave. WORST EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE. Never never never go to this place.

I've been eating there for a few years and it's always been a good place. That's why I think it's a shame that the portions are smaller on weekends for the same price. The menu seemed narrowed down by a few dishes last time. I was charged for a large bottle of water that I did not order. Unfortunately noticed too late. Very unfortunate. I hope things get better again.

I cannot believe this place only scores 3.5 stars in Trip Advisor. The food is divine! We’re so happy we chose to stop at this place. The dover sole in butter was out of this world. My white asparagus with butter, lemon and grated Parmesan cheese was also a hit. The baby calamari starter was incredibly yummy. One of our companions had it as her entree with a side of the grilled potatoes and it was the perfect pairing. Cristina was also a great waitress!!! She was super friendly and attentive. If you are looking for sea food, definitely try this place. I assure you will not be disappointed.

As Düsseldorf residents, we also like to go to the Fischhaus. But my last visit was a disaster. We were sat at a table and then nothing happened for a long time. After asking several times whether we could order an aperitif, the responsible service employee came after about 20 minutes (he was standing at the front the whole time and talking loudly to his colleagues) and we were able to order an aperitif. The food and wine were then also included. Starters were good. For the main course we ordered a risotto with half a lobster (€47.50). The lobster was so dry and tough that you couldn't eat it. But there were three shrimps on the plate. We didn't see a service employee again. After dinner, the dishes sat on the table for half an hour and no one felt responsible for clearing them away. With a lot of luck I was able to tell a waiter my request for the bill, which came very quickly. I'll be giving the fish house a wide berth soon. I had a bill of €280. You should treat guests better.

The majority of fish dishes are served with fried potatoes and bacon. When asked whether the bacon can be left out, the answer is that the fried potatoes arrive already finished with bacon and there is no other option. If you want fries you have to pay extra. It's a shame for a shop that advertises fresh fish. But the side dishes such as fried potatoes are ready-made products. Not everyone is bacon, and being so inflexible in this matter is really unacceptable for a shop like this. Too bad

We had very tasty food here. You have to queue a little here if you want a seat outside, in the evening and when the weather is good. We were lucky though. The food was very tasty but a bit more expensive and so were the wines. The ambience is really very nice and perfect. The service leaves a lot to be desired. The employees are rather arrogant. The employee poured half of the delicious wine next to our glass and the water too. No apologies.

Located in the historic center of Dusseldorf.. we sat down at 8.55pm.. the kitchen closes at 9.00pm.. . the portions are generous.. ordered the sea bream, the mixed grill arrived.. they all had the same taste.. acceptable on average

We were there on May 13th. 24 around 5 p.m. in the restaurant to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately the food was not as expected, as we are used to here. My wife's meal (fine fish ragout with tagiatelle) was cold and a skin had already formed on the sauce. My meal (sea bream with vegetables), the fish was perfect, the vegetables were completely overcooked/burnt. We ate as much of it as we could because we were pretty hungry after waiting over half of the time for the oysters. Disappointing…. After having enjoyed being your guests for more than 15 years (including company events). The staff, who spoke in a language I didn't know, obviously had communication problems.

Despite the crowds, we got a table quickly. That speaks for a quick passage. Stop an old town restaurant aimed at tourists. Slightly higher prices, but also generous portions and tasty too. You shouldn't expect anything more and you won't be disappointed. The staff is very attentive, friendly and quick despite the hut being “full”.

Wenn Sie Fisch mögen, gehen Sie dort nicht Essen. Ein Blick in die Vitrine reicht eigentlich schon. Als Mehrgenerationenfamilie war dies ein vollkommen überflüssiger und ärgerlicher Besuch noch dazu. Das einzig Positive, das Ambiente ist gut, die Kellner waren sehr freundlich, wirkten aber deutlich überfordert. Mit 6 Personen haben einen grossen Teil der Karte probiert. Verkocht, aufgewärmt, geschmacklos. Lieblose , anspruchslose Schnellimbisskost für teures Geld. Auch wenn die Bilder ggfalls einen anderen Eindruck vermitteln. Meiden Sie dieses Lokal.

With the main course costing 32 euros, we hardly had any food on our plate. The starter before that was also definitely not for two people. Therefore: it was the first and last time there, such a shame.

The food didn't taste good at all. Potatoes are pre-cooked and taste like they have been pre-chewed. The waiter even told us that the potatoes, whether boiled or fried, were prepared and not made fresh. Fish didn't taste like anything. I'm not an expert when it comes to fish, but I would say that at least the fish we ate was frozen.

If you like fish, don't eat there! A look into the so-called fresh display case is actually enough. As a multi-generational family, this was a completely unnecessary and annoying visit. The only positive thing, the waiters were very friendly, but seemed overwhelmed. We tried almost the entire menu. Overcooked, not fresh, reheated, tasteless. Loveless, undemanding fast food for expensive money. Even if the pictures give a different impression. I can only advise against it.

Average welcome, a poorly cleaned ashtray on the table, the waiter who took our drink orders completely unfriendly I ordered a tasteless “bouillabaisse” fish soup (for the same price I recommend that of the fish merchant at the market next door: a delight) and a very basic octopus salad for almost €20 (iceberg salad, seeds mustard, very fatty vinaigrette, octopus). Fortunately the young waitress who took care of our table was very professional, smiling and attentive: a big thank you to her!!!

Hello dear chef. Go to the old town once or twice a year. I like to eat fish with you. Everything is great too. Today I wanted something special. Cod Düsseldorf style with mustard dill sauce. Mustard that is Düsseldorf. I have to say the sauce had no taste of mustard let alone dill. That was probably a teaspoon that was put on the plate beforehand and was smeared. The poached cod then added its water content to the sauce to finish it off. My brother is a chef and he would come into the kitchen and explain how to make mustard sauce. Maybe the cook should get the recipe for a mustard sauce from Walsumer Hof in Duisburg or Fischhaus Schafeld in Bottrop. These are mustard sauces. But otherwise everything was positive.

Very unfriendly waiter, complains that we sat down outside without waiting for a seat. But we had been standing in front of it for a while and no one was interested in us. Discuss things and refer to Corona. The guests after us didn't need to show a vaccination certificate because they were sitting outside. Yes, exactly, what did he want to tell us? I've been going to the Fischhaus in Düsseldorf for over 20 years and actually really enjoy it. There is always delicious fish, fresh and tasty. The service is always very attentive and super fast :-) The back part of the restaurant has now been renovated, the toilets have been modernized and are now fresh and clean again. There seems to be a new restaurant manager, he's doing very well. The size of the portions has improved, that wasn't quite the case for a while, but now everything is nice again and we like to go there more often. The fried fish with potato salad is now our favorite ;-)

Fischhaus in Düsseldorf has been our favorite restaurant for years, but on our last visit the starter, particularly the salmon cream soup, was disappointingly different. The chef has changed and the new version no longer meets our expectations. The waiter informed us that we were not the only guests who complained. Apparently several recipes have changed since the chef changed. We hope that the new boss will reintroduce the old recipe to maintain the quality and keep the regulars. Despite this disappointment, we would like to emphasize that the staff remains friendly and professional.

Basically a good kitchen, unfortunately the tables are too close together and this means that peace and class are lost! The portions could be a little bigger!!!

Unser Kellner war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir hatten einige Rückfragen zu den verschiedenen Fischen und Austern. Er war uns sehr behilflich und hat genau erklärt wie man Austern und Languste isst 😃 Das Essen war lecker, wir würden wieder hin! Für unser Essen (tagliatette mit 1/2 Languste und meeresfrüchtesalat +1auster extra) haben wir 82€ bezahlt.

Unfortunately not good anymore. Tasteless, loveless. Communication difficult. I had 3 oysters as a starter, the cellar asked why I hadn't finished the ice cream?! You can eat a lot better for the money!

Despite the noise, it's a must for me to eat at the Fischhaus when I'm in Düsseldorf. No matter what I've ordered, I've never been disappointed. The fast yet unobtrusive service tops it all off. The large selection of different dishes has something to offer for every palate.

Not recommendable! Stomach pain included The high prices are not justified and we didn't finish because none of it tasted good! Plus the wine that was served for 7 euros per glass was also a disgrace! It was cheap wine from the supermarket and I had already drunk good ones in every other restaurant! There were two of us and we ordered different types of fish plus potatoes and vegetables. The fish with the mustard sauce was far too bitter and not edible. The pan potatoes were just boiled potatoes whole and burnt on one side, no taste and nothing. Vegetables were cooked in water, mushy and also with zero spices or taste! Visually it didn't look nice anyway The shop seems very cold, heartless and undecorated. Unfortunately we were only misled by the name because we wanted to eat fish that day but there is nothing positive to report. Ambience very cold, waiters not friendly like you see in other shops, cheap bad wine, bad food with no taste and I recommend any pizzeria instead if you're hungry! Late in the evening I also had a stomach ache!!

Nicht zu empfehlen! Ist den hohen Preisen nicht gerechtfertigt und wir haben nicht aufgegessen weil nichts von dem schmeckte! Plus dazu war der Wein der für 7 Euro pro Glas serviert wurde auch eine Frechheit! Es war billiger Wein aus dem Supermarkt und in jedem anderem Restaurant hatte ich schon gute getrunken! Wir waren zu zweit und haben verschiedene Fischsorten bestellt plus dazu Kartoffeln und Gemüse bestellt. Der Fisch mit der Senfsoße war viel zu bitter und genießbar nicht. Die Schwenkkartoffeln waren nur gekochte Kartoffeln ganz und jeweils von einer Seite verbrannt, kein Geschmack nichts. Gemüse waren in Wasser gekocht , matschig und auch mit Null Gewürze oder Geschmack! Optisch sah es sowieso nicht schön aus Der Laden wirkt sehr kalt, herzlos und undekoriert. Leider hatten wir uns lediglich vom Namen verleiten lassen weil wir an dem Tag Fisch essen wollten aber es gibt Nichts positives. Ambiente sehr kalt eingerichtet, Kellner auch nicht sympathisch wie man es in anderen Läden kennt, billiger schlechter Wein, schlechtes Essen ohne Geschmack und ich empfehle stattdessen jede Pizzeria wenn ihr Hunger habt!

We we a group and sitting outside, we were well served. A seafood platter and oysters were ordered to start, brown bread and butter served to help it go down! I ordered goliath grouper with a mustard crust, mixed salad and roasted potatoes. Fish was tender well cooked, potatoes were excellent, charred slightly and well seasoned. Mixed salad was served with a nice white creamy dressing. And it was my first tasting of the famous Alt bier from Dusseldorf. I'm a fan of the beer and a fan of the fischhaus.
