Unfortunately, we had to wait a long time for the waiter to place our order. The extra portion of vongole was almost twice as expensive as the dish itself, with the explanation that they were in white wine sauce, even though the other dishes were also in white wine sauce. On our last visit, my wife had a fish allergy, and yet we still went there again. We've been going there for 20 years, but today was the last time. Not recommended.

Fischhaus is the best seafood spot in Düsseldorf’s Old Town. It’s always packed – people start lining up around 6 pm, so get there early! As soon as you walk in, you see a huge glass case filled with super-fresh whole fish on ice. Seabass, turbot, dorade, sole… everything looks amazing. The menu is simple and delicious. Fresh fish grilled or pan-fried with potatoes or rice Big bowls of mussels Oysters, lobster, octopus My favorite: the curry rice with shrimp – juicy prawns in a tasty, mild curry sauce Great food, relaxed vibe, and the fish couldn’t be fresher. It was very crowded on Saturday evening, of course. The atmosphere is more like a train station waiting room, but that's just part of the charm. However, unlike before, the food was rather uninspired.

The ambiance and service were good, which I unfortunately can't comment on regarding my food. The redfish fillet was swimming in oil, the potatoes were crispy on the outside but mushy on the inside. We found the accompanying cucumber salad to be very tasty.

Because I arrived too early, I just wandered around the entrance. When they learned I wanted to dine, they were very welcoming and let me find a seat and rest, even giving me a menu to look at. At 12 o'clock sharp, they served bread. This time, I ordered bouillabaisse and monkfish dishes. The bread crust was crispy and incredibly delicious, I almost finished it all. I always thought Monkfish was only good for hot pot, but after trying their dishes, I realized how delicious they are. Just from the glistening, fragrant fish, I knew it must be delicious. Paired with the sauce, roasted vegetables, and white rice, it was a perfect match. I even used the bread I'd saved to finish off the remaining sauce.

All the dishes were made with fresh seafood and were delicious. On this day, we were also able to enjoy raw oysters.

I went with a group of 12 and was the only vegetarian. They promptly prepared a very good dish for me!

We ate there Sunday evening... We've been eating their salmon cream soup for over 30 years, and it's always been excellent. But today? A horrible, tasteless watery soup with a bit of salmon in it. It's called salmon cream soup on the menu! And the small salmon cream soup for €7.80, served in a tiny bowl containing barely two tablespoons, is an absolute rip-off. We feel completely cheated! With another dish, the fried potatoes were swimming in grease... On the positive side, the staff were all very friendly... But we need some time to process the rest, as we had such wonderful memories of this restaurant's food. What a shame!

I've loved this restaurant for many years, even though it gets very crowded and noisy at dinnertime—it can be quite exhausting. What really annoyed me was the €6 price increase for mussels, especially since the portion was smaller than before. And this wasn't the first price hike in recent years. And I bet that even with the reduced VAT starting in January 2026, the prices won't be reduced by even €2!

The atmosphere was very noisy. As an Istanbulite, the fish tasted like tin cans with different flavors. The angler and turbot were eaten.

I was there last night. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was very attentive. Everything was great. They started with a tasty bread and dip. I'm only deducting one star because I was given a seat right in the middle of the aisle. But I was there spontaneously, without a reservation, so it wasn't a big deal.

The service is the shittiest you can ever seen, 1 hour and 20 mins to get the food and it was wrong all what they can do or say is to apologise. I asked for the manager more than 3 times but I think he’s too scared to face these issues. There was bacon on my plate which I clearly ask not to put. The waiter is arguing that it’s burned potato not bacon as if I’m idiot and not knowing the difference. Never back avoid especially if you’re inviting guests because you’ll be really embarrassed. If there is a less rating than one I would do.

I was extremely disappointed!! On a packed weekend!! We ordered a set menu for two, and believe me... even hospitals serve better food!! The food was so uninspired, just bare fish with three wilted boiled potatoes on the plate!! A huge plate that wasn't even a quarter full. Although vegetables were listed as a side dish... apparently, it was just two strips of white cabbage stuck in the fish 🤢 They were just slapped on!! We had to wait 65 minutes for this!! I completely lost my appetite after the main course! And the staff, apart from the waiters, were clearly overwhelmed!! They call this a restaurant... and they have garden chairs inside and outside!

The food and drink menu is very extensive. The food is very good. There's a large selection of fish. Orders are served promptly. However, the atmosphere is like a large fish market. It's not cozy, and the noise level is very high. The service staff is fast, but you get the impression they just want to get the guests through quickly.

So unfriendly and unpleasant. You don't treat guests like that.

We had a bad experience, unfortunately. The appetizer was tuna tartare. It was tasty, but a small portion for the price. Then came a cold fish platter on ice for €39.90. It consisted of 3 pink shrimp, 3 sea snails, 3 crayfish, 3 oysters, and half a crab. Not much for one person. The oysters were tasty, but the rest were tasteless. I saved the crab for last because I always like the legs best. The small legs tasted strange, and the large leg was downright disgusting. I stopped because it made me feel unwell. It smelled like blue cheese, a sign that the crab had gone bad. We reported this. No apology was given; we were offered a cup of coffee. I indicated that I didn't want to pay for the crab, which they didn't. We were offered some shellfish instead. I had no desire to eat anything anymore. My stomach was upset. The service was okay, but in our opinion, the chef who came over didn't resolve the issue properly. Smell your shellfish before you eat here. We won't be back.

Anyone visiting Düsseldorf who loves fish can't miss this restaurant. The food is simply superb and always good, and the service is very good and attentive. Always happy to return

The food is AMAZING, the bread with the mayo sauce is amazing, the fish is amazing, everything is amazing. It is often crowded but that happens when the food is great and although there are lots of people the staff are friendly and the service is quick. Definitely a have to try in Düsseldorf

Once again, I was delighted by the food and service at the Fischhaus, allowing me to enjoy a little break with prawns in olive oil and scallops on leaf spinach with fresh bread and a lobster cream... We were there on a Saturday evening and luckily had a reservation. It was very crowded. We sat outside at two small tables placed together. The plastic seating was more reminiscent of camping. Wooden chairs and tables would certainly have enhanced the ambiance. We had a mixed appetizer platter, which tasted okay, but served only lukewarm and was too expensive for what was on offer. The cod fillets served as a main course were thin and soft, reminiscent of pangasius. I don't want to claim it, but my wife and I strongly suspect it. The accompanying vegetables on the plate were almost cold. Perhaps due to the abundance in the restaurant, but it shouldn't be. The cucumber salad served beforehand was perfectly fine. All in all, the fish house was mediocre at best for me. Perhaps we'll give it another chance when the city is emptier.

Super nice atmosphere and food quality !

Fischaus is my favorite restaurant in Duesseldorf, I will come every time when I visit Duesseldorf. Waiter is always nice and good services, not like Zum Schluessel restaurant, they just keep you waiting and not let you in. Fisschaus Oysters are very fresh and taste very good. lobster soup is strong taste and nice favor in your mouth. Seebass is house recommended disch that you cannot miss it. Seebass is their recommended fish dish, skin is crispy but inside is juicy, it is perfectly cooked.

I called specifically to see if I could buy mussels at the counter to take home. They told me it wouldn't be a problem. When I drove there and stood in the shop, it wasn't possible. The trip was a waste of time.

On Saturday, September 14, 2025, I was recommended to eat fish at this Spanish restaurant. I had very high expectations because friends from Düsseldorf had spoken highly of it. The waitress was very kind and attentive to my every need. We ordered four different dishes to try, and they were actually good. It's a shame about the calamari, I didn't like it.

We went to this restaurant about five years ago and were very satisfied back then. Unfortunately, this time was a complete disaster. Except for the wine (Lugana) and the oysters, all the dishes were bad or improperly prepared. Even the fried potatoes didn't come with bacon, even though the menu stated it included bacon. The sea bass was dry, and the portion of prawns was very small and seasoned with the wrong spices. The octopus was grilled for too long and therefore tough. The staff was rather unfriendly and unattentive. Most of the employees didn't speak German either. I think the restaurant relies more on tourists.

We had a very tasty meal of fresh fish. Majes tartare. Superb. Sea bream and plancha pulpo were excellent. The house wine was poor and expensive.

Yesterday, August 27th, I had a delicious meal. I went back today for the same reason and, for €50, was totally disappointed. The cucumber carpaccio with herring came without cucumber, but with plenty of parsley and a completely different flavor. After asking several times and going to the chef – everyone claimed it was the same as yesterday – my husband left the meal. I had the "Fischhaus" mixed salad for €23. A poorly presented ready-made salad mix with a few shrimp and a completely tasteless fish fillet. A total disappointment. I left, paid, and left. Even the offered espresso didn't help. A real shame.

Whenever we visit Düssedorg we always have diner @ Fischhause, many choises and for every budget. We had the best of the best. It was great again.

Reportable! Appetizer: oysters, sent back due to the presence of unidentified animals on the plate... First course: spaghetti with clams, sent back due to the pre-cooked, burnt, and rubbery pasta. Everything was charged properly, except for a dessert offered, whose whereabouts I'll leave you wondering. The whole thing was disastrous, and unhealthy!!! Absolutely to be AVOIDED!!

A lovely restaurant in Düsseldorf's Old Town. The interior and exterior areas exude a French flair. The service was friendly and attentive. We had fish and chips and fried fish with potato salad. The dishes were beautifully presented, fresh, and delicious. A note to management: please offer tables outside where adults can also sit properly; the crossbar prevents you from moving closer to the table to sit properly.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. You might want to give it a try. It was a bit cold tonight, 19 degrees Celsius and windy, so we had to sit inside. It would have been nice to sit outside.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this restaurant. The price/performance ratio is completely out of whack here. Starters at almost €20 could be of better quality and more plentiful. The main course was nothing. Side dishes were almost cold. Potato products are completely unacceptable. Pre-fried and then apparently cooked in a convection oven until soft or rubbery. The fish was unseasoned and tasteless, and the vegetables were also rubbish. Unfortunately, no one even asked if everything was okay! After the meal, it was brought up, and they offered us a coffee/espresso, which they assumed was at least on the house. But no... it was still on the bill afterward. Thanks, but we'll never be back!

A complete tourist trap. We were served fish with an unpleasant odor. We paid and asked for clarification, but we were told the fish had already been thrown away and nothing would be done. I recently learned that a friend of mine had a very similar experience – he also wrote a review that was later deleted. Guys, that's no way to do business! They shouldn't delete bad reviews; they should work on the staff, the quality of the food, and the service!

My full recommendation. All expectations were exceeded. We were at the Fischhaus on Sunday evening, August 10, 2025. After a very friendly welcome, we chose a table inside – because of the wasps. After studying the menu, we chose a small bouillabaisse, the grilled razor clams, the pan-fried sole fillets, and the Plateau de Fruits de Mer. We chose Chardonnay as our wine pairing. While we waited, we admired the beautiful presentation of the fish and seafood. Always impressive: the monkfish! A few minutes later, the appetizers were served. The mussels were perfectly grilled, and the soup was perfect too. Yes, the word "perfect" keeps coming up. But what if it's true? I really liked the presentation of the Plateau de Fruits de Mer; the prepared products (oysters, rose shrimp, crayfish, bulots, and an unfortunately small tortilla) were perfectly cooked. Not exactly easy with bulots. My companion was absolutely blown away by the sole fillet. Thank you, Chef de la Cuisine! The Chardonnay was the perfect wine accompaniment. The prices were absolutely reasonable. I didn't feel ripped off or taken advantage of in any way. I've already strolled by on Friday and Saturday evenings. The fish house was always busy. I recommend making a reservation. Reception: 1 Friendliness: 1 Service: 1 Food Quality: 1 Value for Money: 1 Please understand. The fish house isn't cheap. That's a good thing. It can't be. Located in the heart of Düsseldorf's old town, it uses first-class products that aren't available everywhere. Our selection was worth every euro, so it was a good value. Thank you, Fischhaus, for the time spent with you. I'll be back on my next visit to Düsseldorf! My suggestion for the wine list: Muscadet and/or Sancerre for seafood lovers.

The two of us visited the Fischhaus for the first time. We immediately loved the atmosphere and interior. The food, fish salad and seafood pasta, was excellent. Unfortunately, there was an incident: a waiter dropped a bowl of sauce, and some of it splashed onto my shoe and leg. Luckily, I was wearing shorts. I was offered napkins and a wet cloth to clean up, which was okay, but I was actually expecting a gesture like a free drink, etc. So, one point deducted.

I ordered octopus, it would be fine if it had some salt added, I mean the octopus is very soft, ok, but the feeling of chewing something soft and then biting into a few grains of salt makes you feel like you're chewing on grit, horrible. The mixture of salt and extra virgin olive oil is quite.....hmm. but that's a matter of taste so I won't judge.

Unfortunately, our visit to the FH was a disappointment. We were assigned a table for two on the terrace. It was okay, but the spacing between the tables was terribly narrow. You couldn't sit down without pulling out the plastic chair to the side. Five employees asked us for our drink orders at short intervals. Unpleasant! There was barely room to place anything on the small tables, and when the appetizer arrived, it was complete chaos. Everything was moved around, and we had to lend a hand to make room for the oyster selection. There was no explanation of the oyster selection at all – it was placed on the table and that's it – service is different! The classic cod was dry, and the potato salad was ice cold and flavorless. The octopus (2 pieces) with baked vegetables was mediocre. Unfortunately, it all reminded us of a system restaurant. A shame for such a place!

Our German friends recommended us to visit Seafood restaurants in Dusseldorf, that's why we picked this restaurant with one of the highest rating in town. We have ordered 4 seafood dishes with one seafood soup plus a Riseling. All of them tasted fresh and wonderful plus dining in alfresco area. Definitely worth my 5 stars 🌟 rating!!

We've tried quite a few restaurants in Düsseldorf's Old Town – some are okay, some are really good. But Fischhaus completely won us over on our second visit. As soon as you walk in, you notice: things are different here. Friendly, attentive, not fake – simply pleasant. As for the food: It's actually almost unfair to single out individual dishes, because everything was just right. Nevertheless: The squid was sensational – tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned. The oysters were as fresh as they were delicious. And then the bread! I'm not usually someone who loves bread – but here I was almost embarrassed that I reordered three times. The sauce that came with it… simply amazing. And even though I clearly overdid it, they didn't even charge me for it. A small but subtle difference that sticks with you. Even details like the water: It sounds banal, but it isn't. In the Old Town, you often get random brands, either too cold or in a glass that tastes like a dishwasher. Here, the water was just the right temperature, a nice glass, finely bubbled – simply pleasant. What's also noticeable: Although the place was busy, the atmosphere was surprisingly relaxed. Not the deafening volume you often find in this area, but a pleasant, lively atmosphere. You could have a normal conversation and enjoy the whole thing. It's clear to me: The Fischhaus isn't just another old town restaurant—it's in a league of its own. We'll definitely be back.

The staff was super friendly and nice 👍 The atmosphere was also very pleasant and nice. We were there on a Friday around 5:00 PM, so we were able to choose a table without a reservation. Large selection of fresh fish and seafood, including a large selection of different types of fish and dishes. We ordered salmon once and mixed grill once. Yes, the fish was fresh, but we didn't like the way it was prepared (a lot of oil; fish has a lot of its own oil anyway, so we didn't understand why the chef used another oil). Otherwise, it wasn't bad, but the value for money is just for 2 stars.

We visited FISHHAUS for dinner on a Thursday evening in December (19th to be specific), expecting a decent meal, but the experience was nothing short of disappointing. I ordered the turbot, which was overcooked and completely tasteless. It had no seasoning whatsoever, making it dry and flavorless. My partner had the cod, and it was equally bad — dry, bland, and incredibly dull. Both dishes were so underseasoned that it felt like the kitchen had completely neglected to add any flavor. The potato slices were soggy and stale, clearly left out for far too long. Instead of crispy potatoes, we were served limp, reheated slices that were just plain unappetizing. The cabbage salad was no better — tasteless, limp, and it seemed like it had been sitting in the fridge for days. The service was mediocre at best. The staff were polite but barely engaged. It was clear they weren’t particularly interested in creating a positive atmosphere or enhancing our experience in any way. As for the ambiance, it was outdated and felt cheap. The décor and overall atmosphere didn’t reflect the high prices — €50-60 per person for food that didn’t even come close to meeting basic expectations. To sum up, we were extremely disappointed with the entire experience and will not be returning. If you're looking for fresh, flavorful fish and a modern dining setting, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere. FISHHAUS needs serious improvements across the board

Considering it was incredibly busy on a Sunday, we were served quickly and friendly and enjoyed a delicious meal at a reasonable price.

So far, it was satisfactory! I would come again!

There are impressive flavors. There is a wide menu with fresh seafood. You can drink a good wine at its value.

Food quality is powerful and delicious

I was quite interested in the place, it looked like a nice restaurant to have finally some good fish. Unfortunately it wasn't anything special, especially considering the very high prices. What we got was very average dishes, anyone who had experience with fish restaurants or lived by the sea can tell the difference. The feeling was the same that I get when I eat frozen food (but this time each of the dishes costed more than 30€). We ordered a salad and no oil or vinegar were brought to the table (every decent restaurant should know that these must be brought along or at least it should be asked to the customer). We asked to the waitress, she never returned with them. We asked after 15 minutes to another waiter, still never returned. On the third time we were finally successful (too bad that we finished everything else we had on the table by then). Also, on the menu it wasn't specified that the salad was coming with a sauce on it, when we make them notice it they said "you should have told it before", thankfully they still changed it...but what kind of waiter gives you such a reply? I repeat once again, if you know your stuff regarding fish and you're looking for a good experience...go somewhere else, maybe the taste will be the same, but at least it won't be a ripped off. Giving 2 stars on the food just because the oysters were okay (still around 18€ for just three of them). Regarding the atmosphere, you can tell they tried to give an "authentic" look to the restaurant but couldn't get off the feeling that you are eating in a place with lots of space to gather lots of people. The waiters' way of doing doesn't help in that regard. Also, which kind of fish restaurant doesn't bring any refreshing towels to clean the hands after fried calamari?

When we entered immediately a good atmosphere. Starter was delicious, main course was way too salty and very mediocre. Furthermore we had to wait 45 minutes for our main course. Way too long.

Last night, Sunday May 25, 2025, the three of us ate at the Fischhaus, and we all had plaice. After a relatively good wait, we were served plaice that was unseasoned and completely overcooked, sitting on a plate with potatoes. No decorations, no vegetables, nothing. I had to ask for the butter to be melted, otherwise I would have had bone-dry fish and equally dry potatoes on my plate. I've rarely eaten such a bad meal, and I've been a customer for decades, but the quality has declined considerably, even with the fish soups I love so much. It's a shame!

We went twice and both times it was just a rip-off. Asparagus soup for €12.90, despite what was written on the menu, had almost no asparagus and no shrimp - just liquid.

food so good but terrible service. we’ve waited over 1:30 hrs to receive the starters and still waiting for our main courses while I am writing this review. not to mention that I had to ask three times to get my drink. so sad they’re overshadowing the good taste with such slow and careless service. imma definitely not go back.

The service is really bad we had to remind them 3-4 times to bring simple drinks (cola) which at least took 20 min each to bring. The Appetizers took 90 minutes to come out and didn’t come out at the same time. The food tasted good but totally not worth the wait any money for such a bad service

The only seafood restaurant on the street, so I chose it for dinner. The place is quite large with plenty of tables, which made it surprising that the hostess tried to seat me uncomfortably close to other guests. The seafood selection is extensive, but the side dishes could be healthier and more varied. I ordered the baked trout, which was served with French fries. I asked for no fries and received fried vegetables instead — mostly overcooked beets. The fish seemed to be fried in batter rather than baked. Under the thick layer of batter (which I didn’t eat), the fish lacked salt and seasoning. It was topped with a portion of tasty garlic butter, but I wasn’t quite sure how to eat it with the dish. Unfortunately, I can’t say I enjoyed my meal. Each guest receives a basket of bread with a spread, so at least I didn’t leave hungry. The most common wine, Sauvignon Blanc, was also disappointing in taste. I would recommend the restaurant to consider adding healthier meals and side options to the menu.

What can I say? This has to come out. It's simply gotten worse over the years. The market hall atmosphere is very loud, tables are so close that you're more likely to hear your neighbor's conversation than the one across from you. I ordered some excellent, exquisite fish, but it was completely drowned in sauce; I don't need to go to a fish shop for that. We had a table inside – relatively central. There was always a smell from the kitchen. When we left, we, or rather the jackets we had neatly hung on the coat rack, stank as if we'd been to a chip shop. Our conclusion: Very loud – very cramped Mediocre quality There are better places for the price – the name "Fischhaus" suggests something different here, not for tourists, not for Düsseldorfers. It used to be different, but it was a while ago...

Visit Fischhaus in Düsseldorf, Germany. Specializing in seafood with great flavor, dishes with portions that leave you satisfied. Excellent service from Joao, an excellent waiter from Portugal with a high sense of service. Fishhaus truly lives up to its value of service and quality. I highly recommend it.

The service wasn't good – perhaps because it was very busy. Even with a reservation, you shouldn't expect too much. The pasta with scallops was full of asparagus, hardly any mussels, and disappointing in taste. The oysters weren't clean, with lots of shells in them. The fish was okay, but not worth the price and garnished with too many vegetables, which overpowered the flavor.

We ordered the 1/2 lobster dish twice and were bitterly disappointed! The lobster was very small, and the edible part was very, very small. The head part had absolutely nothing edible. I do not recommend this dish.

At first it seemed like good food, but it was a mistake; firstly, the salad was small and in a word, funny; secondly, the pike perch fish was tasteless; thirdly, the seafood pasta was very neutral and the shrimp were disgusting; very strong smell inside the room. Choose for yourself, but I will not come again

The food wasn't particularly impressive. The €27.00 appetizer platter looked more like a robber's plate, and the main courses weren't fresh in taste. Overall, it was okay, but nothing more.
