Fischhaus in Düsseldorf

One of the places we frequent whenever we are in DUS, thanks to a friend who's able to make reservations for us every time we are there. The Lobster Bisque is a must and they've kept the standard. The grilled calamari was a little overdone, too chewy. The mussels is a crowd fav but was so-so only for me. Fish was fresh and here you get to try some local river trout, nicely grilled, though a little salty. Their homemade bread is also one of the highlights.

On a rainy day in Düsseldorf's old town, I visited the fish house and enjoyed fresh North Sea sole with fried potatoes. The fish was tender, perfectly cooked and went wonderfully with the side dish. The cozy atmosphere and the attentive service made the visit a completely successful experience. A clear recommendation for fish lovers!

The quality in this restaurant is catastrophic. Lobster soup that tastes horrible, horrible wines and fish drowned in cheap fat. On top of that, the whole thing doesn’t seem fresh… A bitter disappointment!

Es war an der Zeit, unbedingt das FISCHHAUS aufzusuchen, das seit Anfang dieses Jahres unter neuer Leitung steht. Wir hatten die Gelegenheit, mit Pablo Fernandez Garcia, einem der beiden neuen Betreiber, über das Konzept von Tradition und Moderne zu sprechen. Es ist immer noch ein bodenständiges und sehr beliebtes Restaurant, in dem man sich nur wohl fühlen kann. Das Essen war absolut köstlich. Hier wird der Liebhaber von gut zubereiteten Meeresfrüchten und Fisch auf jeden Fall fündig. Ob "Baby Calamares vom Grill", "Austern Rockefeller", "Muscheltopf Fischhaus", "Muscheln Thai Art" oder "Scholle Finkenwerder Art" – wir haben alles sehr genossen. Und der Service war auch sehr professionell und äußerst freundlich, hier besonders Lukas und Ainhoa. Die Preise sind gehoben, dies speziell heute auf dem Sektor Fisch und Seafood, aber die Qualität stimmt. Wir hatten im "neuen" FISCHHAUS eine gute Zeit in netter Atmosphäre, und es war wirklich "ein leckeres Erlebnis". Wir kommen auf alle Fälle wieder!

It's a seafood restaurant, the atmosphere is nice and the food is fresh, but since it's a market atmosphere, don't expect friendly service, and the prices are a bit expensive.

Quite crowded and chaotic place in the centre. Waiting times slightly longer than average but it's worth it because the fish is delicious! I recommend the Fishhous soup as a starter, typical and really good. Courteous waiters even if very busy and always in a hurry. Homely environment.

Waiters very nice but completely overwhelmed by the mass of people. It's cramped (40cm of space between the tables), loud and absolutely uncomfortable. One star for the food, that was ok. Otherwise very bad and too expensive. I don't understand what all the dressed up people sitting there think is so great about it and why the store is fully booked. Never again for me.

We had various fish dishes for dinner with 7 people after making a reservation (all to great satisfaction). The restaurant is actually a kind of large hall, but it didn't bother us. The staff was very attentive, friendly and approachable. I had a cod with a French. White wine - very tasty and digestible. In short: If you like fish, you should go there!

Now I thought that I could go back there with Florian Conzen at the helm - it was always outstanding in the brasserie. Unfortunately, I have to say that I was really very disappointed there today. Grilled salmon slices with fried potatoes and hollandaise. Everything was floating in a pool of fat on the plate, the hollandaise had also curdled, the fried potatoes were soaked with fat and if you go there for lunch during a work day, you can't actually go back to the office afterwards because you're so craving fish and... Food smells so unpleasant - the exhaust air in the open kitchen doesn't seem to be working at all. The waiter didn't even ask if it was tasty, so maybe it doesn't matter. Unfortunately no recommendation for the fish house at all. There is still a lot of room for improvement.

Absolutely not recommended on weekends. Due to the extremely high noise level, conversation is not possible. The atmosphere corresponds to a train station waiting room. The staff is hectic and inattentive. The food was just average and lukewarm. Conclusion never again!!!!

Wir hatten uns auf leckere Muscheln im Fischhaus gefreut. Es war wie immer sehr sehr gut besucht. Leider waren wir von der Qualität sehr enttäuscht. Die Muscheln Art der Hauses mit Knoblauch und Petersilie waren sehr verkocht und an den Rändern sehr hart. Es gab leider keine frische Petersilie und auch kleinen frischen Knoblauch. Alles nur aus der Dose. Die Suppe war nicht genießbar und auf dem Schwarzbrot war die Butter drauf gekratzt. Die Rheinischen Muscheln waren etwas besser aber auch zu verkocht. So eine schlechte Qualität hätte ich nicht im Fischhaus erwartet. Schade Das Dessert Apfelsorbet in Calvados zu 9.80€ war gut.

top seafood place / fresh fish, great atmosphere.

The quality of the food was poor. I ordered a tuna steak, but it was far from enjoyable. Due to the massive crowd, with everyone packed tightly together, I and others got ill in the following. Here, profit and revenue clearly take priority over health. Oh, and then I nearly forgot to mention we had to 2 hours on our food after ordering.

About four weeks ago we had an excellent dining experience here and were convinced that it would be our regular place again. We were very enthusiastic about the quality of the cuisine and passed our positive experiences on to family and friends. However, today (Tuesday) our visit was unfortunately disappointing in terms of both the service and the quality of the food. As we entered we were barely noticed and not properly greeted - this may happen in hectic situations, but it added to the atmosphere. Like last time, I ordered the French fish soup and the Spaghetti Vongole. But this time the soup tasted completely different, and there were no croutons and parmesan that were usually included. When I politely asked the long-serving, older waiter whether the soup had been mixed up, I didn't get a solution, but rather a discussion - he claimed that the soup was correct, that everything was in it, even though he hadn't served it himself. All fish soups are the same whether “French” or “not French” Finally he brought croutons and parmesan, but in a way that showed little understanding. Because he poured the croutons into the soup and gave me a bowl of Parmesan. According to the motto “there you have your parmesan and croutons” I was excited to try the Spaghetti Vongole - unfortunately I realized that this dish didn't live up to expectations either. The spaghetti was very salty, swimming in olive oil and had an intense white wine taste that dominated rather unpleasantly. In my opinion, good wine was not used. Whatever a Spaghetti Vongole is... Unfortunately, the dish was hardly edible, so I only ate the Vongole and left the rest back. While the dish was excellent four weeks ago, today we experienced the opposite. Finally I ordered a coffee, but was given an espresso. I didn't want to discuss this any further after my previous experiences and just drank it. However, what bothered us the most was the way the waiter handled our criticism. A simple apology or concession would have been enough to improve the situation, but unfortunately we didn't feel taken seriously. We hope that our feedback helps you, because we really care about your restaurant achieving its great quality again.

The offerings on the Menü looked amazing but I might have made an absolutely terrible decision, which was (likely) why my grilled fish dish tasted mediocre *at best*. Good vibes, decor and ok service though. I’d consider coming back to give it another shot. At least it was not the typical tourist trap I’d expect from Altstadt 😂

Service: vorhanden Ambiente: wir haben draußen gegessen, an einem Tisch, der genauso 5 cm vom nächsten Tisch entfernt war. Man saß direkt mit am Nachbartisch. Plastiktischdecke!! Essen: schade um den Fisch, matschige Scholle Finkenwerder Art, Speck überhaupt nicht kross, fade und geschmacklos zubereitet. Absolut keine Empfehlung.

Lunch for two. Starters and soups were very tasty, but not warm enough. Main courses, turbot and prawns were great! Fresh produce, tasty cooked and prepared. Always and happily for many years. I can recommend the Fischhaus in Düsseldorf with a clear conscience! GB

Actually, the visit to the restaurant was okay, the service was friendly and good, the food was tasty and plentiful. A meal also arrived, mine only after my partner had already eaten hers. Classic ruin of my order. That day I was “deeply relaxed” as we sat outside in the sun for lunch and no longer had any appointments. So just a little deduction in the B grade. We would still like to come back.

Disappointing! Went to the fish house because I thought there would be good mussels there. I had the “Thai version” but there was nothing Thai about it! Completely tasteless. There was no taste of coconut milk, ginger or coriander. It wasn't fresh coriander either! The mussels were also a bit sandy, which really shouldn't be the case. My husband had mussels "Rhenish style", but they were also quite tasteless...

We waited more than 50 minutes for our food because they 'lost' our order. When it arrived, it was raw for one of us and extremely salty in another dish. They offered us a coffee or an aperitif as an apology but at this stage this was simply not enough so we left the bill at that. Overall very loud atmosphere. Wouldn't recommend.

Excellent seafood, excellent service in quick time, and doesn't hurt the pocket too much either for a seafood restaurant! Delicious mixed grill, prawn caeser's salad, redfish, fried calamari, fried sardines and much more. Definitely worth a visit while in Düsseldorf.

Bright - professional - friendly: Fast and attentive service. Lots and lots of alert, nimble servers. Extensive menu - whether changing dishes or "classics". Generous portions with good value for money. Lively ambience.

The interior comes from the former Maaßen fish house, beautiful old style. The range and quality of the fish dishes on offer is excellent. The price-performance ratio is absolutely fine. If you like eating fish and shellfish, this is absolutely the right place for you.

One of the best seafood restaurants I've had the pleasure of dining in so far. We had oysters as a starter and a fantastic pike perch fillet on cabbage and beetroot puree. The desserts are not bad either. The service was quick and courteous.

Atmosphere 3 because the constant siege of street musicians and acrobats is now quite invasive and disruptive. The flow of conversation was constantly interrupted. The city of Düsseldorf should establish permanent artist spaces. Concession fees mediate instead of granting an uncoordinated circus rotation and constant sound throughout the entire old town.

Mixed starter plate was announced with various seafood. What was on the plate were black, burnt squid rings with sprats. Nothing else. After my complaint new seafood was served. Another reason for complaint. The squid rings and the accompanying sprats were dry and inedible. The repeated complaints to the so-called “managing director” were dismissed with succinct personnel reasons. Because of my answer that I was not responsible for the personnel concerns that had been raised, the conversation was ended without comment. Based on this experience, there is a justified impression that not only the kitchen, but also the manners and demeanor of this "manager" are subterranean.

It was a commercial tourist seafood restaurant but there trout that I had was very good. I wouldn't considered that this place would be have a high end chef workings there.

I have been visiting the Fischhaus (formerly Massen) for more than 50 years. The quality of the food, the friendliness of the staff and the rustic ambience often invite me to visit this restaurant. I think it's good that you are greeted at the entrance by the staff and offered a free seat. In the refrigerated counter you can sometimes admire swordfish or look at the oysters and crabs on offer. I can recommend the soups, which are served with a glass of white wine at lunchtime. See you soon!

We have been coming to the Fischhaus for years because they actually had the tastiest mussel dishes. This time we were very disappointed with the Thai style. Everything was simply missing. We also told the employee, who said they were still in the testing phase with the spices. A neighbor at the table had ordered Rhenish-style mussels and was also very disappointed.

We had dinner at the Fishhaus in Düsseldorf on June 30, 2023. We had very rude service, we also passed this on to the person in charge of the restaurant who did not think we were important because we were from Belgium. It says enough that only a year later they filed a complaint for defamation for this review. The restaurant had not assumed that we would write a negative review. We even have a photo that we came to eat with you and we would like to tell you what the point of criticism was. The restaurant would listen better to criticism and do something with it instead of trying to delete the bad Google reviews. If all negative reviews are removed, then the rating of this restaurant is incorrect.

The food was very tasty here. The waitresses are all very nice. This time we had a great wine accompaniment. The house wine comes from the in-house winery.

There is a very, very tasty fish soup here! Whenever we are in Düsseldorf we visit the Fischhaus. It's probably very cramped, but we're happy to accept that!😘

We have been visiting this restaurant regularly for 20 years and were disappointed for the first time. Austen had strange tastes. The prices are greatly inflated.

We were completely thrilled the first time and invited friends over yesterday and couldn't explain the quality and portions. Little for a lot of money, the dish with two shrimps clearly had too little fish and not by accident, as we were told, but there were 2 dishes with 2 shrimps each. We would have been happy to forego the espresso that was provided. The mussels were almost cold and every other one was still closed, so back to the kitchen. Now I have found out about the change in ownership...only the attentive staff deserves 1 star.

It's a unique beer that I don't like, but the atmosphere is great. If you don't put the coaster on the cup after drinking, you'll be in danger. I might go again if I'm invited.

Unfortunately, I hoped for more from the restaurant. The food was okay, but the service was a disaster. The waiter who took our order was completely arrogant and unsympathetic and I would even call him cheeky and snippy. I would also like to describe this waiter, he had blonde hair, blue eyes and an earring. Maybe you'll read that and take it to heart.

A very positive experience, the dinner was really worth it. The friendly welcome was great. After we sat down, bread was brought straight away, which was very tasty and apparently homemade. The waiter, Marvin, asked two quick questions to select the perfect wine for my wife. In general, it was Marvin who made our evening better. Always attentive, and his broad, friendly smile was not artificial, but came out naturally, which showed that he enjoyed his job. We will come back just to be served by him again. I had never seen the scallops on spinach like this before, but they tasted very good. The seafood platter was very good in terms of taste and also in terms of price. Personally, I would prefer to serve three smaller sea snails instead of two large ones. They taste better. The plaice “Finkenwerder Art” was a poem in terms of taste. A good portion and completely appropriate for the price. Plus the fried potatoes, which were masterfully prepared for me. And the salad was tasty too. I was rather disappointed with the dessert. As a lover of the “Dame Blanche” (White Lady), I was rather annoyed. Two small scoops of vanilla ice cream and a dollop of whipped cream, but a large pot of hot chocolate is not what you imagine when you think of Dame Blanche. Whoever put this together should be banned from Dame Blanche for life. A real Dame Blanche consists of three large vanilla ice cream balls lined up next to each other with a strip of whipped cream parallel to the balls. Add a small pot of hot chocolate, just enough to pour over the ice cream balls and to draw a few drops or thin strokes over the cream! But all in all it was a nice dinner we had, thanks also to the friendly and smiling waiter Marvin. We'll definitely be back. In terms of price, the restaurant is in the upper middle class, but the price-performance ratio is completely ok.

Fantastisches Fischspezialitäten Restaurant im Herzen Düsseldorfs! Grandioses Essen, toller Gastgeber und sehr aufmerksamer Service! Preisleistung passt 👍. Sehr zum empfehlen die warme gemischte Vorspeise mit Garnelen, Tintenfisch, Muscheln, etc. Zur Hauptspeise muss man unbedingt die Seezunge mit Blattspinat probieren, diese ist phänomenal! Lange nicht mehr so gut gegessen.

I have it myself. Expected more, it was ok considering the food. However, if I wanted to invite someone, I wouldn't go there because the service, at least one of the staff members, was very unsympathetic and not service-oriented. When asked what kind of fish variations a fish plate has, he just rolled his eyes. We were also seated at a table that had not been newly set and that had not been newly set for us.

We ate the baked calamari as a starter, but unfortunately they were too wobbly. There was also bread and a dip (extremely tasty). The main course was very, very tasty (fried pollock fillet) and I can recommend it.

A delicious fish restaurant in the heart of the Altstadt. Beautiful lobster and a mixed grill of fish. First Jacob's shells on a bed of spinach and cheese. A truly wonderful meal. The wine was also excellent and the service 1st class. The general atmosphere in the restaurant is cheerful and inviting. Great tent and highly recommended.

The food is really good - value for money in Düsseldorf Old Town! However, it's sad that with a bill of 300.00 euros (2 people) you aren't even offered an espresso.

Unfortunately, we also had this experience in Germany. Our order arrived incomplete. The fish came with 2 sprigs of parsley?!... and a piece of lemon. We asked for the salad. I think the tomato in the salad was taken from another plate, and I'm not exaggerating, there was only one piece of salad. Believe me, the quality of the green sauce was below average, I have never experienced such a disappointment in my life.

The food was ok but nothing more. What was disturbing was the service. One of the wine glasses was was not tasting well - almost like it was soap left in the glass’s we complained but the waiter and the manager was not willing to refund the wine glass even we ordered full meal and starter.

Unfortunately we didn't have a good day. For starters we had soups, unfortunately too salty for us. For the main course, the sea bream was also too salty and the seafood platter was unfortunately not really fresh either - a shame!

The food is excellent.☆☆☆☆☆ I can't criticize anything about that. Even the fries are incredibly good. The service is friendly and quick. That was my first visit and certainly not my last. So far I can only give positive feedback.

Ordered seafood spaghetti, fish soup, oyster shot and grilled squid salad. The spaghetti was on the salty side which made us thankful we ordered the salad to neutralize.. Fish soup was so rich but also salty. The grilled squid salad was good but costed 19.5 euro. Overall this is most we spent for a meal in our whole trip and it is definitely not one of our favorite ones. The ambiance and service was good though.

We visited this restaurant, unfortunetly we didn’t actually get to taste the food, because we had to wait for over 20 minutes for a waiter to come to our table to order atleast some drinks, after that when I asked one of the waiters if we can order he blinked at me with his eye and went away. I can’t really recommend this kind of rudeness, it never happened to me before.

We came with a group, but they gave us a cheaper fish, contrary to what they said. Instead of cod they gave us sea bass and it was not tasty at all. The calamari was delicious.

To this day it has been our regular restaurant in Düsseldorf to eat delicious salmon trout fillet. However, this time we were disappointed. Apart from the fact that the price has now risen to €21.50, the quality is unfortunately in great need of revision. You could almost count the fried potatoes on one hand and they had definitely been in the pan or wherever for some time. It's a shame, I think that was the last time we visited the restaurant.
