Celebrated my father's birthday there at lunchtime and he was full of anticipation... unfortunately you had to go upstairs first to call someone who could operate the stair lift, then there was probably a misunderstanding about the table you had booked... We felt a bit “punished” that neighboring tables were served much earlier, even though they came after us….. After about 15 minutes of waiting to take our order, we were served attentively until the end, apart from the fact that we weren't asked whether we would like another dessert or an espresso... The eel bread with herb scrambled eggs we ordered was good, but the scrambled eggs dripped… The Labskaus was also good, but the “final whistle” was missing. However, the cutter plaice with bacon was a disappointment: dry (much too dry)! This is clearly different. Ambiance: nice view of the Elbe, but tables are very close together... It is and remains a HH institution, but during our visit it fell short of expectations...

The restaurant bears witness to the old Hanseatic splendor around the former fish market. Located directly on the dockland (ferry pier) at the former fish market in Altona, the fishing port offers quality that is second to none. The food alone is in a class of its own, but the service and the team are also very attentive and helpful at all times. This always makes the visit something special. Everything is just right here. Anyone who values ​​good quality, service and great cuisine has come to the right place. The restaurant's interior is also incredibly comfortable. A pearl in Hamburg with tradition.

We were always there in the evenings and were always very enthusiastic. This time we tried the lunch menu and were not disappointed. Nice atmosphere, nice attentive service and very tasty food. The lunch menu is also highly recommended, but it is best to reserve here in advance.

Einige Male im Jahr müssen wir hier essen. Eine Institution mit verlässlich guter Küche und richtig tollem Service. Sogar die anderen Gäste sind so nett, dass man meist noch einen freundlichen Smalltalk über die Tischgrenze bekommt. Wir freuen uns schon aufs nächste Mal.

A very nice seafood restaurant with delicious food and very good service. I was there spontaneously for lunch on a Sunday and had the Sunday menu. The food was excellent and I can recommend it at any time. The restaurant is very busy, so it's better to make a reservation in advance, especially if you're a group.

Although it is expensive, it seems customer-oriented to me. They want to offer their guests a special flair and have a considerable number of service staff. In my opinion, a lot of the emphasis here is on the saying “the eye eats with you”. A visit to the terrace at dusk or in the dark is recommended. The bar is well stocked. On the murals you can see which celebrities have already dined in the fishing port restaurant. Meal vouchers are available.

Thank you very much for your almost loving support on Thursday evening. Of course, the food was also excellent! The lobster soup is probably not only our waiter's favorite appetizer, but also mine. Turbot and monkfish are also highly recommended. We will definitely be guests at the Fischerhafen Restaurant on our next trip to Hamburg.

Excellent fish restaurant! We were there with a group of seven people and the food came to everyone at the same time and everything was perfect! Of course, this also has its price, but you can still save a lot during your daily lunch. For a soup with eel first, zander fillet for the main course and a dessert just under €35 is more than fair! So if you don't necessarily have to go out to eat in the evening, you're well advised to come here for lunch. If you don't like fish, there are also alternatives with meat or vegetarian dishes. Otherwise, the view of the Elbe is of course wonderful with the maritime atmosphere in the restaurant. Highly recommended!

What an achievement! Whenever I had lunch or dinner at the Fischereihafenrestaurant quality of food and service have been outstanding. A great compliment to the Kowalke family and their staff! Ist is always worthwhile to go there.

This time we sat outside. It was again extremely tasty and the service was very accommodating. Unfortunately, people who smoked sat down right next to us (unfortunately they didn't show any consideration). Every time there was a gust of wind, cigarette smoke wafted over to us, which was very disruptive while we were eating. You might want to consider not allowing smoking there either, or maybe ask the guests not to smoke for that period of time when the waitress sees that that people eat at the next table.

Essen und Getränke weiterhin outstanding u das top Personal sucht eh heutzutage seinesgleichen. Hier passt einfach alles, auf weiter minimum gut 40 Jahre!!

Well established and very professionally run restaurant in Hamburg. An institution since many decades with a very warm and charming interior. Flawless, attentive and friendly service with food of exceptional quality with a well designed menu which covers all prices and options. We had the most famous dish of Hamburg the Labskaus, wich used to be food made for seafarers, basically corned beef, potatoes, red beets topped with fried egg and pickled herring. Doesn’t sound or maybe even look that appetizing but it was a very good labskaus - highly recommended! Appetizer Aal Sülze (Eel Aspik) which had a beautiful texture & great fresh flavour.

Also the friendly welcome from Mr. Kowalke. The fishing port restaurant in Hamburg is great in terms of the ambience and the location on the Elbe with a view of the harbor (see video), plus the usual top quality of the food on offer. A visit is always an experience. For me, an absolute must is the eel on scrambled eggs on baked brown bread. Of course, the service staff is also very friendly and very attentive. Of course, the price level is high.

We had a herring menu and everything was excellent.

Unfortunately, the service doesn't match the price range of the food, and anyone who isn't a regular guest has to expect less attention from the staff.

Very friendly service. The eel on scrambled eggs and brown bread was a poem. Also the Labskaus, a traditional North German dish. The turbot was very good, the sole leaves nothing to be desired. The traditional restaurant is popular and deserves the highest praise.

The food is excellent (my favorite was the salmon), the service is courteous and friendly, and the atmosphere outside is cozy. It wouldn't be modern enough inside for me but the food is definitely worth it. We recommend!

First of all, a friendly welcome. Then the service became weaker...cucumber salad, among other things, was not included in the main course and was eaten later. For dessert we had to get the menu ourselves. No question as to whether we were satisfied. The food was fantastic. At this price point the service should be more attentive and better.

I recently visited the Fischerhafen Hamburg restaurant and overall had a very pleasant experience. The service was excellent. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, which made the visit very pleasant. About the food: For starters I chose the beetroot carpaccio with truffle, which was well prepared and offered a fresh taste. For the main course I chose the Labskaus. Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to my expectations as it contained an excessive amount of corned beef. I've eaten this dish better at my mother's. However, the dessert, red fruit jelly, was a highlight. It was perfectly prepared and rounded off the menu in a very positive way. The choice of wine for the entire table was excellent and went well with my chosen dishes. Overall, I can recommend the Fischerhafen Hamburg restaurant because of the excellent service and the appealing desserts. However, improvements to the main course could enhance the experience.

One of the old Hamburg classics with lobster soup and perfectly fried sole, plus a bottle of Meursault, will quickly make you forget star cuisine. Oldboys Desire realized on Sundays at lunchtime. I called to make a reservation. Apparently there was no table available so I tried it right there and was lucky.??? My service was extremely friendly and accommodating. As expected, the prices are rather high, but the food is also above average. So I was happy to pay and enjoyed the evening very much. I can actually only recommend the restaurant!

A restaurant for gourmets. Even the entrance via a staircase looks elegant and inviting. You are greeted warmly and shown to the table. Everything makes a pleasant impression. The tables are tastefully set. The staff friendly and professional. The menu is clear and offers a selection of exquisite dishes and drinks. As a starter I had tuna tartare. A poem! The main course is Faro salmon on risotto, garnished with a delicious sauce. All of this makes the visit an experience. But also the price. Nothing for every day or small budgets. But this restaurant is not easily interchangeable with others.

The food has no taste. The « bouillabaisse » is basically fish in oil. The whole menu is overpriced. The cuisine is badly inspired by french cuisine. Especially if you are french, you should avoid this restaurant.

This is a very elegant restaurant with exceptional food and drinks. I wish I had taken photos but it didn't seem like the sort of place where one takes photos of food! As you can see from other's photos, everything here is beautifully prepared. We enjoyed a great Riesling and lovely dinner of fish and then two terrific desserts even though we were quite full! Beautiful atmosphere with great food and service. I see why it is a local tradition. We enjoyed many wonderful restaurants on this trip but this has to be one of the best in the city. Maybe the nicest place I have ever been! :). We traveled to the restaurant via the water taxi from the Altona Fishmarket Hall area and that was a lot of fun too.

It was an almost perfect evening in a very classic atmosphere. We had a table with a view of the Elbe and the service was confidently friendly and really knew their stuff! The food was very tasty. If you like fish, this is definitely the place for you. We will be back definitely.

This place is the institution for elegance, fresh seafood and class. I have been here 5 times now and everything is on point always. Elegant and friendly waitstaff, superbly fresh seafood and an elegance and grace of the good old times. The owner does table touches and the staff recognize you and welcome you back after a while which is very nice. I can highly recommend the dover sole! It is by far my favorite of any place I had dover sole meuniere before. They have a wide selection of great wines to go along and a knowledgeable sommelier to assist if needed.

The location is wonderful, the service is also very good. Unfortunately, the schnitzel we ordered was a big disappointment and so were the fried potatoes. My companions had fish dishes that were significantly better. The sushi platter they ordered was also a feast for the eyes and the palate. Clear recommendation for the restaurant - but you shouldn't order a schnitzel.

First night in Hamburg and obviously we wanted to eat fish. We had looked on the internet and we knew that there were many on the grosse elbstrasse. We decided to go there by taxi so we asked the taxi driver to recommend one. He took us to this place, according to him an institution in Hamburg. From the outside the building doesn't say much. When you enter you find a somewhat steep staircase and at the end is the entrance to the restaurant. We found the decoration somewhat pompous and old-fashioned. In red tones and with carpet on the floors. The upholstery of the chairs looks like something out of a cheap castle and they are not very comfortable. The table had a white tablecloth, a flower and a red lamp. They immediately brought us the letter. Everything really seemed very delicious. We became even hungrier than we already were. The waiter was so kind to help us very well in choosing the right dishes. As a starter we ordered an asparagus soup with pieces of salmon and a tuna tartare with avocado. Both things were very delicious. The waiter, once again, very attentive and friendly, recommended two very delicious white wines. For main we ordered the monkfish with vegetables. The fish was cooked to perfection, very fresh and melted in your mouth. The small cut vegetables were very crunchy. For dessert we ordered the cheese board with pear mustard and the waiter recommended a very mild sweet red wine. It was the perfect ending to dinner. I can definitely recommend this place if you want to eat fish. We will be back.

I rarely give reviews, but I really have to say something here. I often eat out in Hamburg and like fish. That's why I thought it would fit well here. But the salmon tasted like it came from the Aldi freezer, it was dry and not fresh - the dish cost just under 50 EUR! In addition, my friend had specifically said she didn't want any sauce on her asparagus, but of course it came with sauce. If you want a good view to drink a coffee: great. If you want to eat good fish you should go somewhere else. LG Marco

This is a fine dining establishment. It is not affordable. That however doesn't matter because it is worth it. The wait staff is excellent, the time for the food to arrive is perfectly acceptable and they do absolutely everything to best accommodate your needs. They respect you as the customer and that's the experience you are coming in for. The food is awesome too of course but there's great food everywhere. What keeps me coming back here is how this establishment makes me feel welcome. That is the point of coming here and that is also why I only come here on very special occasions.

We were made aware of this restaurant through a harbor tour... definitely worth it, very good food, nice atmosphere, really a long-established upscale restaurant... Price-performance ratio is also right here... Reservation recommended.. If we come to Hamburg again, we will definitely go there again!

Ein schöner Samstagabend in Hamburg sollte es werden, dieser wurde es jedoch leider nicht ganz. Ein paar Abzüge müssen wir leider vergeben. Wir hatten zu zweit eine etwas spätere Reservierung im Fischereihafen Restaurant. Der Empfang war sehr freundlich und wir hatten die Wahl drin oder draußen zu sitzen. Wir entschieden uns für draußen und duften eine traumhafte Atmosphäre im Sonnenuntergang mit ansteigender Flut erleben (Decken gegen die Kälte lagen direkt für uns bereit). Der Service war sehr freundlich und bemüht. Leider – was wohl unserer späten Ankunftszeit geschuldet war – wurden wir jedoch recht schnell „abgefrühstückt“. Aperitif, kleine Vorspeise, Gruß aus der Küche, zweite Vorspeise, Hauptspeise und Kaffee gingen in gut einer Stunde durch. Das Hochpreisniveau in einem solchen Restaurant in solcher Lage erwartet man, wurde jedoch mit den Speisen nicht gerechtfertigt. Sieht man vom eher faden „Spicy Tatar“ und dem „getrüffeltem Kartoffelmousse“, welches nur mit Trüffelöl und nicht mit frischem Trüffel versetzt war, einmal ab, waren die Gerichte geschmacklich sehr fein. Tolle Kombinationen mit besonderen Geschmackerlebnissen. Leider wurde aus unserer Sicht beim Wareneinsatz aber zu sehr gespart. Zu viele „billige“ Sättigungsbeilagen und zu wenig eigentliche Speisen. So Bestand z.B. das Frikassee vom Hummer welches uns serviert wurde aus höchstens ca. 20 Gramm Hummer aber mindestens 200 Gramm Kartoffelmousse. Insgesamt stimmt für uns das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis hier leider nicht. Aufgrund der besonderen Location können wir das Fischereihafen Restaurant aber dennoch eingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.

Empfang und Service wirklich gut. Aus der Küche kamen jedoch nicht wirklich überzeugende Leistungen. Steinbutt etwas glibbrig,Pannfisch ...Lachs ok aber das zweite Stück Fisch war grobkörnig paniert und zu lang gebraten.Da können einfache Fischstäbchen im Vergleich mehr punkten. Hummer Frikassee hat leider etwas gummiartiges. Insgesamt unbefriedigend. Das war früher besser!!!

I have known and appreciated the restaurant for 30 years now. Great quality of food, nice team! Given the ambitious prices, the composition of the dishes is currently not right in my opinion. My lobster fricassee on mashed potatoes, for example, meant a lobster claw plus-minus chopped up with a crazy amount of mashed potatoes. For 59 EUR more lobster would definitely be appropriate.
