Everything is perfect here: from the service to the dishes. We have been here several times in the last few years, always a friendly welcome, attentive and fast service and food that is fresh and culinary excellent, both visually and on the palate. We would be happy to come back.

I reserved a table for my girls yesterday for 6 p.m. Great ambience. Sensational service. Great menu. The table by the window with a side view of the harbor. The plaice, the crabs, the bacon, the fried potatoes and the potato salad were just perfect. Awesome. Thanks to the whole team who made the evening unforgettable for my wife.

We actually go to Hamburg regularly but have never been to the Alt Heligolander. Now we can have a say and say it was simply great. Great service, great ambience and super delicious food. Absolutely recommended and we will definitely come back

Very good pan fish. Portions not very big, but still okay. Seemed a bit out of place with kids.

Service top. Plaice and baked prawns are good. Wiener schnitzel average. Salads fresh and tasty...dessert cappucino cream hardly tasted like cappucino.

We ate here with our daughter. The reception and service was friendly. The food was simply delicious. We found it positive that there was a menu for children. Unfortunately, this was not available in another fish restaurant nearby and we had to order a “large” dish for our daughter. We would therefore be happy to come back on our next visit to Hamburg.

The atmosphere on the Elbe and harbor is just as unique as the preparation of the food and the taste of freshly caught fish.

On October 22nd, 2024 we had dinner with four people in the Althelgoländer Fischerstube. Both the Labskaus, which our friends chose as a starter, and the Heligoland crab cream soup, which we chose, were real taste buds. For the main course we chose the Hamburg panfish three times and the Helgoland herring platter once. The four of us agreed that the fried potatoes were excellent. Cooked to perfection, some of them were slightly crunchy and not a single piece of onion, potato wedges or bacon bits were burnt. Unanimous verdict: Perfect! The fish - cleanly filleted and served in an egg shell - super. And everything was served very friendly, attentive and humorous. The price/performance ratio is completely fine. We'll definitely be back soon. All the best

Visiting Hamburg without going to this restaurant would be a shame

Solid ambience and yet not strained. This is mainly due to the service, which is attentive and fast, sometimes fun, but never intrusive. The food leaves nothing to be desired, upscale home cooking with a focus on fish dishes...as the name suggests.

You're first skeptical when a restaurant starts with the name 'Alt' and then it's in a new building. But when you enter you immediately see that it is very comfortable. Fast friendly service and very good herring platter. Everything is a bit more expensive, but reasonable. It was great. Thank you.

Very nice restaurant at the fish market with a maritime atmosphere. Excellent food with a reasonable price/performance ratio. Service is very attentive and responds to special requests. We always enjoy coming here and accept a longer journey time to do so. If there is space, you can also park in the underground car park. Call shortly beforehand and the gate will be opened.

The service is very professional and very nice. We had plaice with bacon and crabs, the quality was absolutely top class. There were no long waiting times even though the restaurant was very full. We can only recommend it.

Super friendly welcome, despite the full restaurant we were shown to our seats. Ordering was quick and easy, requests were responded to immediately, e.g. sharing the starter -> two additional plates were immediately brought to us. Food came very quickly despite the large company. Advice on wine was also given upon request. Thank you, we'll be happy to come back.

We had not reserved in advance, but luckily we were still able to get a table for 2. We had a delicious meal (fish was very well prepared + surprisingly tasty dessert) and nice wine on the menu. The service varied: one seemed tired and stressed to us, the other had time and energy for a chat and a joke.

Almost everything was right here. Fantastic fish dishes in a harmonious atmosphere with friendly service. The food came quickly and the plaice was a poem. We had a lovely evening. Just in terms of price, like almost everywhere else, it's an announcement.

As the name suggests, an old Helgolian fisherman's room. A really cute facility that makes you feel good. We had fish soup and two fish dishes. Everything tasted delicious and was freshly prepared. A must when you are in Hamburg. We'd love to come back.

As fish lovers, we divided to have dinner at this restaurant. At the end, a very good choice. From the beginning onwards we experienced very friendly and competent staff. As we were hungry, we decided on starter and main. All dishes were delicious and very fresh fish was served in a perfect preparation . Always trying to experience local dishes, I decided on these. Perfectly presented with a delicious mustard sauce. Unfortunately we didn’t have space after that for a desert. As we had such a great experience, we decided to go for a second dinner the next evening and defenitely it will be on our top list on our next Hamburg visit.

We were completely satisfied. We were told there were few staff there today, but we didn't notice anything, on the contrary: the service was very friendly, attentive and always present. 100% recommendation also for the food, which is really worth the price. Gladly again soon.

Every year I come to Hamburg at least once and eat, among other things, in the Alt Helgoländer Fischerstube. The ambience is simply beautiful, in warm weather you can eat outside and watch the harbor. The service and food were once again top. Gladly again.

The staff were always friendly and attentive, something that unfortunately doesn't happen that often in the hospitality industry anymore. Wir kommen seit über 15 Jahren mind. 1 x im Jahr nach HH und immer ist ein Besuch im Alt Helgoländer Fischerstube fest mit eingeplant. Wir sind noch nie enttäusch worden und freuen uns jedes mal über das qualitativ hochwertige Essen, sehr freundliche Personal und angenehme Atmosphäre.

We had a table reservation and although it wasn't packed, we recommend calling ahead or booking online on the weekend. The service was super friendly and the food was very tasty. The fried potatoes particularly stood out. We'd love to come back.

We had dinner on Saturday evening at 9.30pm, just before the kitchen closed, with the place now half empty. Fairly large nautical style environment and friendly staff. Abundant dishes, average prices.

The food here is fantastic! I had the seabass, and it was absolutely delicious 😋. It was perfectly marinated with lemon and herbs, making every bite even more flavorful 🍋🌿. The service was very nice and the seating was beautiful but the food was very disappointing. The fish soup was totally watery with 2 small pieces of fish, the plaice was tasty but tiny, the crabs didn't taste good at all. The potato salad was industrial product from the bucket and "refined" with parsley. You could clearly taste the preservatives. And we paid 55 euros per person. That was definitely overpriced

It was an all-round successful event with a total of 14 colleagues. The food was excellent, the service was very friendly, quick and good. We felt very comfortable.

Bouillabaisse... was more of a vegetable broth with fish added... not really spicy or a bit spicy or hot... maybe call it something else then that's okay. The plaice Finkenwerder style was very good. All in all good. Staff attentive, present, position very good.

Located at the fish market, with nautical-maritime decor, if you dine outside, you can enjoy the view over the fish market, depending on the direction you sit, where a 24-hour parking ticket only costs €5. The kitchen offers beautiful and true fish cuisine, as we know it from Hamburg and the north. As a starter I can recommend the Caesar salad, crispy, fresh, with an interesting dressing, later followed by the fresh herring with onions, fried potatoes and a colorful seasonal side salad. The good meal is completed with espresso and a very aromatic, cool basil ice cream style with strawberries. This is also true in the artistic sense, as the kitchen knows very well that the eye also eats and knows how to garnish. Full five stars, fully deserved. We would be happy to come back, thank you very much for the good and very friendly service.

Typical dishes and excellent service. The cost is appropriate for the dishes tasted. Right portions. You don't get up hungry! I recommend it for anyone who wants to eat typical Hamburg cuisine fish. The waiters are precise and friendly.

The restaurant is very characteristic with a very large menu of fish and some meat dishes. You can find both typical Hamburg and northern German specialities. My family and I had a great time with both the quality of the food and the price. The service was also up to par. Overall a great experience that I highly recommend to anyone in Hamburg.

We have been coming here for several years now and it is always very nice. The staff is nice and friendly and very competent. The atmosphere is quaint and rustically cozy. And the food has been consistently very good for years and is also acceptable in terms of price for Hamburg standards.

You can eat excellent fish here! Prices are a bit high but the taste is perfect!! The location right next to the fish market is great! A reservation would be advantageous.

A restaurant serving local cuisine. It is located next to the embankment, not far from the center, 15 minutes from the Old Tunnel under Elba. The interior is in a marine style, very nice. Good and fast service, there were few people at lunch on Sunday, but it is better to reserve a table in the evening. The food is delicious, the local cuisine is original, but it is worth trying. Prices are moderate. We liked it, we would love to visit again.

Absolutely positive surprise. This restaurant does a lot of things right that many others simply can't do anymore. First the service: very courteous and great communication. Not only was our waitress great for us, but we were also able to observe how she used her proactive communication at surrounding tables to ensure that guests got exactly what they paid for. About the food: we were actually a little stressed for time to catch our ride back to Berlin. A big mistake on our part. The products used for herring and cod were fresh and perfectly prepared. The side dishes were perfectly coordinated and rounded off the dishes well. Big plus point: the seasoning was perfect. Not too salty or over the top when it comes to using the herbs. The star of the dishes is the fish and it seems right thanks to the quality. We will come back and are really looking forward to it!
