Fisch Domke- Domke's Fischhus in Heringsdorf

What can I say, we were in the restaurant in January 2025. Every Gosch I've been to is worlds better than this Domke in Ahlbeck. And you can hardly believe it, the prices are the same as at Gosch. But unfortunately the level is miles away from that at Gosch. It was also quite cool and gloomy. The toilet also doesn't keep up with the prices advertised for the food. Sorry…..I won’t visit again. Unfortunately, this is a reflection of the entire gastronomy on the Baltic Sea. Highest prices for canteen food. If I pay €20 for a schnitzel, I expect it to be freshly prepared in a pan, and not in oil.

We have been visiting the restaurant regularly for many years because, as always, we had good experiences with the food and service, just like the branch in Heringsdorf. The decor is very pleasant and pretty. The information about the food was very informative and clear. The fact that the service staff has some difficulty understanding the order given in German is not a problem and is due to the misery of the lack of employees. Ultimately what was ordered was served. Matjes and fried herring, each with fried potatoes. What was not at all acceptable was the fact that the dish was nicely decorated, but the quality of the fish was previously unknown and not expected. Even though the second week of January may be a low tourist time, the fish must not have been left so long that it is mushy, pale and almost tasteless. The fact that this overlapping occurs for possibly economic reasons suggests poor supervision or even toleration on the part of management. very disappointing, the entire fish was returned by three people with critical reasons.

Very tasty and fresh fish. I was really happy with that. I rate the service 4 stars because the employee behind the counter was very friendly. You just have to know that it is a self-service restaurant and there is no real service. Whatever, I can basically live with that. It's okay that the charm of the hall has been retained. When the staff argue loudly about inventory and duty rosters, things get rather uncomfortable. That's somehow part of the ambience.

10/30/24, around 1 p.m Ordered small sea buckthorn juice and got a disgusting, orange, very artificial tasting lemonade for €4. When asked, it was confirmed that this was the juice. I can actually tell juice and lemonade quite well apart 😉. The drink should be banned because effervescent powder tastes better. (Cola cost €3). The plaice was dry with little flavor, the cod wasn't bad. We can ignore the bland cabbage salad 🤣 It's actually a shame, especially because of the rooms.

Ordering was difficult because the staff spoke and understood German very poorly and English a little better. It took 2 attempts for my wife's KiBa. The first one was flaky, the second one was ok because I shook up the bottle of banana juice myself. Then my Labskaus was served with Bismarck herring. Usually it includes matjes and not pickled fish... My wife's salad was perhaps fresh the day before... today it has brown edges... but it's already autumn, so the color at least matches the leaves of the trees. Well, we were pretty disappointed with what had become of the formerly rustic Domke. In any case, the Fischkopp flair can only be found there in pictures from times gone by. Too bad

We wanted to eat at Domkes in Ahlbeck on Saturday lunchtime and stood at the counter in the completely empty restaurant for at least 5 minutes. An employee was diligently cleaning it and skillfully ignored us. A second person joined us, but she wasn't interested in our order either. We had now missed the food and preferred to go to another, but nice, restaurant. By the way, on Monday we went to Domke's fish restaurant in Heringsdorf, where it tasted very tasty, but the service was very snippy. A curry sausage with fries for 12.00 euros. The sausage, tried a bite, horrible. Tried the fries, completely over salted. Replacement delivery was not offered!!! Cod fillet with boiled potatoes came with fatty fried potatoes and various bones. When asked about this, the only thing that was said was that there is no such thing as fish without bones. After all, the special doesn't taste special. The manager couldn't be reached and the employee didn't even offer a discount. I then ate at the butcher across the street. With so much arrogance, one star is still too many!!!! Never again.

It simply smelled unappetizing, like old fat and unusually like fish. We decided not to eat! It just wasn't inviting!

The shop seems quite nice. The fish on offer looks delicious and the counter is well stocked. The atmosphere is rustic and the staff is friendly. Fat BUT: only cash payment possible and you quickly end up with 50€+ for 2 meals. It doesn't help that the Volksbank ATM is hanging in front of the door and charges a €5 fee. All of this left a bad aftertaste, so we decided to stay away. A reputable company offers card payment!

There is always the famous first impression 🤔 - this was very cautious during our visit. When we entered, the entire restaurant smelled unpleasantly of old fish and rancid fat. With that we were out!

Domke's Fischhus in Ahlbeck offered very different impressions at the beginning of September. Basically: There is only cash payment here. Fortunately, there is an ATM right next to the restaurant entrance door. On our first visit we enjoyed both the Thai noodles and the salmon carpaccio. I found the rustic-looking way of ordering, with the friendly Asian staff's rasping commanding tone and then picking up the drinks myself, to be something that took some getting used to. The serving of wine and beer at the separate pick-up counter with service staff wearing rubber gloves (rubber gloves from the garden department?) briefly reminded me of a hospital canteen. Nonetheless, the food at the large wooden tables in the counter area tasted good. On the second visit four days later, we met a team at the Fischhus in Ahlbeck that was obviously completely overloaded. The orders placed at 6 p.m. didn't seem to want to leave the kitchen area, even though we were alone at the table in the front restaurant area and only the occasional guest bought something to take away. I couldn't shake the feeling that the kitchen area was in an in-house clarification session and that the noise coming from the kitchen area was not from clattering pans, but from heated conversations. After 35 minutes we were able to pick up our two meals at the serving counter. However, the salmon carpaccio was nothing like the salmon carpaccio four days before. Carelessly applied heaps of mustard with a few squeezes of lemon simply did not produce the great taste of the salmon carpaccio we had previously enjoyed. A woman (new shift manager?) striding around behind the sales counter in a displeased mood did not create a pleasant atmosphere, but we were able to successfully ignore it. Let's see whether such quality fluctuations are still present on our next visit in 2025.

We ordered two fish burgers, which was a big mistake. The rolls were as dry as a biscuit and the fish cake itself was not fried golden yellow but extremely crispy and could be compared to dark brown, almost black in color. So the fish cake was also extremely dry. You had to look for the tartar sauce on the 2 really small lettuce leaves that the burger was garnished with. It was just tasteless and dry. When I let everything go back after trying it out, all I got was a tired shrug of my shoulders. Apart from that, we noticed the treatment of the cooking staff negatively. This was instructed quite harshly and loudly by the commander on duty, so that the thought arose in our minds that the staff had not been trained for the kitchen but for a military operation. If something doesn't work, it obviously has to be addressed, but in our opinion not, in such a tone and above all not!!!! in front of the customers.

Wide range of fish and fish dishes to take away or eat in the self-service restaurant. We were disappointed with the food. We ordered fish and chips and got fries and traces of fish hidden in breading. The dish racks were so full that we had trouble adding our dishes even though there wasn't much going on in the store.

Nice location, from the outside it just looks like a normal fish counter, but when you enter it turns out to be an interestingly decorated restaurant with beautiful wall paintings. After ordering, you receive a mobile buzzer that notifies you after a few minutes that you can pick up your food. The dishes were tasty, prepared in sufficient quantity and you can't say anything about the price.

Underground - We have been a guest there several times since it opened in Ahlbeck and the food was simple and good. Unfortunately, things have deteriorated greatly in all respects. Dirty tables, unfriendly staff. Ordered turbot today and what was on the plate was so unappetizing and poorly prepared. Prepared again with reluctance, which unfortunately looked exactly the same due to a lack of training and motivation and was tasteless. It's a shame about the waste of great food! Domke adorns himself with a lot of celebrities, but completely disappoints the normal guests.

We were looking forward to eel rolls. The staff at the counter was friendly. It took about 20 minutes to prepare! The roll was stale, the eel was okay, then there was a lettuce leaf! No onions, no tartar sauce! When asked we were given two sachets of mayonnaise! Disappointing! It was easy to sit there and the toilets were clean.

We only stayed because I really wanted to eat fish. There was an employee at the checkout who took the order. The drinks were at another counter. Several people in line passed us by without asking if we would like drinks. Only when the cash register employee saw that nothing was happening with the drinks did he go to one of the employees and ask him to take action. We ordered a beer and a water. The employee opened the tap and half of it was full of foam. Now he went to two other employees who were supposed to help him. The two women managed to fill the glass full of beer. And it was FULL. Like in a pub. Then we waited about 30 minutes until the food was ready. I have never eaten such poorly prepared fish. In the entire time we were there, not one employee came up with the idea of ​​cleaning the tables. We were here for the last time.

We wanted to eat a fish sandwich, but I advise against it. You can get it better at any folk festival or in any other snack bar. Rolls not fresh and the fish can be searched for. So no guests come, which you could actually see. Everything was empty and the employees didn't really want to be around customers.

We ate here again this year. Unfortunately this time it was rather mediocre. Zander with fried potatoes for 22€ was delicious, but the side dish of white and red cabbage looked very questionable on the outside, so I didn't even try it. Tagliatelle with shrimp and cream sauce for 16€ was very tasteless, the sauce was a tasteless soup... eat there You can get a lot better in the neighborhood for the same money...inside you can sit quite comfortably in the winter, this time outside in the "beer garden", which is a plain back yard and looks pretty rocky.. considering the price, it's rather disappointing, I find that bad 0, 2L of water for 3€, my pain threshold has been exceeded

We went to Domke because of the "level of popularity" and were bitterly disappointed. I ate far better on my vacation. It's a self-service location, no problem for us at all, but the surroundings didn't fit. There was nothing going on that evening. The employees were waiting for customers. However, no tables were wiped down during the "customer-free" time. The dishes in the return pile were piling up. For me there is no such thing as a return visit to Domke. I hope his “notoriety” hasn’t gone to someone’s head. ;-)

The visit itself was a nice experience, only the boss dampened the mood, which is a shame... The cooks did their fastest and best in the background, while the boss looked over their shoulders with her arms folded and didn't do anything herself!!! She put her nice colleagues under pressure with unpleasant comments. Afterwards, I would recommend the restaurant despite the serious drawback!

I got smoked stremella salmon and halibut, both were delicious. I always find it a bit questionable that you can't pay by card. The service was a bit rough but okay. The ambience does not invite you to linger.

I don't recommend this restaurant. In Ahlbeck you can eat better fish in other restaurants, for example in Uwes Fischerhütte. We came for dinner and placed our order at 7:45pm. No table service but we knew that. The backyard doesn't invite you to sit comfortably and looks a bit dingy. Unfortunately there was a very pungent smell in some corners and we had to change tables once. After waiting for 45 minutes, I went to the front desk to ask about our order. The kitchen is visible and it was only at this moment that the order was even processed, that is, our dishes began to be cooked. After a total of over 1 hour of waiting in a restaurant where only 3 tables were occupied, that's not possible for me. Salmon noodles extremely large portion, not manageable. Fish was fine with the other guests. We will not visit again due to the lack of ambience, long wait, lack of service and mediocre food.

Absolutely unfriendly service and definitely not suitable for children. It was not possible to get half a portion of pasta for the child here. You get the impression that the “money signs” are in the eyes of the employee. Friendly inquiries are met with extremely unfriendly and annoyed responses. You expect something different from a renowned restaurant. Unkept, not comfortable outdoor area. It's a shame, there's no holiday feeling! We were also treated in such an impossible way when we asked for a holiday apartment a few days ago. There are similar restaurants and accommodations in Ahlbeck that definitely deserve a recommendation. Not this one!

If you like fish in abundance, this is the place for you. I can only recommend it to everyone, including fish sandwiches to take away...keep it up, you're great!!!

Unfortunately, Fisch Domke has also declined. I've been coming to Ahlbeck since 2013. Fish Domke always had to be on the menu on vacation... but unfortunately the quality has deteriorated and the price increases are unreasonable and the staff at the counter should understand German better... but otherwise the staff is very nice. But I'm reducing my purchases. Unfortunately, like everywhere else in the imperial baths, profit is the only priority. It's a shame...soon conditions like those on Sylt and Norderney...

Stopped in for a little hunger in between and all four ordered fried fish with fried potatoes and a mixed salad. The fish was a complete disaster (a piece of frozen food with little fish and a lot of breading from the deep fryer), the salad smelled and tasted musty, and at completely inflated prices (14 euros), we are used to something different here on the North Sea .

Unfortunately I can't share the good reviews. I had fish and chips, the portion was OK, but the baked fish pieces were fried for far too long and were therefore very hard and dry. The fries were unsalted and unfortunately also very dry. Everything was very bland and tasteless. I've eaten better in some chip shops and received friendlier service. Never again!!

Hungry and excited, we entered Domke. The waiter's smile reminded us a lot of our ex-chancellor. Whether it was problems or dissatisfaction with work, it managed to push our good mood towards zero. To top it off, an order was forgotten and a beer wasn't charged - thanks for that. When it comes to the ambience, we fluctuate between a fish auction hall and a central German regional train station. As we left the restaurant, we positively noticed a friendly goodbye from Mr. Domke himself. So there is room for improvement.

I haven't experienced such a catastrophe in a long time. The poor staff with failing technology (receipt printer only prints half, how is that supposed to work???? See photo) and understaffed left them in the lurch. Great Mr. Domke, it's okay. Not! We've been waiting 1.5 hours for our food...nothing in sight yet...19 minutes before the shop closes...

Domke in Ahlbeck - the fish rolls here taste absolutely delicious, the rest of the dishes are also fine. The staff are attentive and quick, both in the kitchen and in the guest area. The interior is completely fine, in contrast to the Domke branch in Bansin. But here too, the toilets could use an upgrade.
