Food was good, prices were reasonable and cleanliness was not an issue. Felt the food could have done with a little more salt, but the beef was good to perfection. Giving drinks service a 3 as I felt it was a little slower then I would have hoped. Decoration is fantastic. Would come again for sure.

The place is very cool, the waiters are quite friendly and attentive, the food, well, German, without waiting much, you have a good time. Typical dishes of the area.

Great restaurant in Ritterstiel, really cozy, friendly staff!

Great ambience (you have to read the history of this house from the 15th century), friendly and attentive service, very nice dishes and clay drinking vessels, the food tastes like it was homemade (what a surprise, it's homemade) without any flavor enhancers, there are toilets modern and clean, full marks!

The ambience of the restaurant really impressed us. You can feel the attention to detail in every corner - except the modern toilets. The menu, cutlery, drinking glasses, decorations, even the clothes of the waitress, etc - everything seems medieval - just great. The food was also very good, especially the cream cakes. I can highly recommend it.

If you're in Meersburg you definitely have to stop by, it's worth it. It's beautifully furnished and you feel like you've been transported back in time. It's an experience not just for those who love the Middle Ages. Very nice host and service. The food was also very tasty.

We have been coming here regularly for years, dressed appropriately of course. A tavern that you should see. Food and drinks served in earthenware dishes. Very nice staff and boss. Simply brilliant. And we were always happy with the food. It's a shame that Google won't upload my pictures.

The restaurant is located exactly opposite the castle - you feel like you have been torn away from everyday life and modernity and catapulted into the Middle Ages. An absolute recommendation for anyone who is enthusiastic about event gastronomy. I have never been to such a beautiful medieval restaurant with such an authentic atmosphere. The food selection is plentiful and there is something for everyone. The drinks are all served in clay pots (it tastes better that way😉). Unfortunately we sat at the back, so we sat there for a bit longer with an empty drink. Maybe we should go for a spin more often. I would come straight back to your house if I was in the region again. Keep it up!!!!

It was a real experience to spend the evening in this restaurant. When we walked past it in the previous days, we always marveled at the great house facade and the furnishings through the open windows. When you entered this restaurant, you felt like you were transported back to Viking times thanks to the atmosphere, the staff dressed to match the theme, and the overall presentation - such as the dishes made entirely of clay. The evening's musical accompaniment included Irish folk, among other things. For beer fans and mead lovers, the food and drink menu left nothing to be desired. The food we ordered tasted excellent and we would have preferred to order anything from the menu. That was definitely the best dinner of our vacation - thank you for that! We are already looking forward to next year!

Great service, absolutely ok in terms of price, the meatballs were very tasty, the potatoes were a bit too dry for me but the taste mattered, the flatbreads were ok but also a bit too dry for me. But definitely worth an experience.

All great! You sit outside on benches with furs, drink from mugs, the staff are dressed in medieval clothing and are very nice. The food was impeccable and the prices are not overpriced. I can only recommend it! There is a good selection of vegetarian food and I think vegan food too.

Das Mittelalter-Thema zieht sich von der Namensgebung über die Gestaltung des Restaurants bis hin zur freundlichen Bedienung hindurch. Und auch beim Essen ist die Anlehnung ans Thema sehr schön gelöst: Man muss auf den Comfort der Moderne nicht verzichten 😊. Für mich ist der Besuch ein Highlight bei einem Urlaub am Bodensee. Zusammen mit meinen Freunden haben wir gut gespeist und hatten bei einigen Drinks sehr viel Spaß zusammen.

Service and ambience were top. Unfortunately, the food was only okay to a limited extent - more spices in the Bürgertopf (goulash) than peppers and onions would be desirable. Unfortunately, the sweet and sour sauce on the philistine that we would have expected from an Asian restaurant didn't really convince us. Therefore, unfortunately only 3 stars for the food. The drinks and their presentation were again great.

Simply great place and suitable concept. Service gallant and medieval, eloquent and appropriately dressed. Original pottery dishes. Sausages or meatballs were very good. Chicken skewers good. It's a bit dark inside, but that makes the Middle Ages more lively 😉 (if you want, you can also sit outside). We would recommend everyone who visits the beautiful Meersburg to dine in the medieval dragon fire 😊.

Well, you noble and simple people, listen to my words! A visit to the “Drachenfeuer” tavern is a wonderful adventure, even though you feel like you are in a time long gone. As soon as you enter this venerable site, you will be enveloped in the original atmosphere, as your eyes will immediately see the magnificent weapons, the rustic wooden benches and tables, and the mighty dragon. The meal served here is a real culinary delight! The food is not only plentiful and hearty, but also of excellent quality. Particular praise should be given to the dragon's tail, the hunter's man and the citizen's pot, which were excellently prepared so that every bite is a delight. The side dishes, such as the salad and the golden brown potatoes, are also excellent. I don't even want to mention the drinks. The beer and juices make every drinker's heart beat faster. I haven't tried it myself, but I strongly believe that the various types of mead are very drinkable and a real joy. Served on earthenware dishes, food and drink are a real treat. The servants are very friendly and hardworking, dressed in historical costumes, which makes the atmosphere all the more authentic. They are always careful to serve the guest well and always have a smile on their face, which makes the stay in the tavern even more pleasant. The ambience is gigantic and you feel like you have been transported back in time. The service left us conflicted. First a waiter was super nice, totally friendly, then suddenly he is no longer responsible for these tables 🤣. Well, an older semester that doesn't hear so well. Nice when you have to shout your order. The food was average but unfortunately not as phenomenal as expected. Visually great. Rather expensive in terms of price.

By chance (luck) we ended up in the Drachenfeuer tavern last night. The film-like ambience is uniquely beautiful and you immediately immerse yourself in times gone by. Super brilliant tavern, a journey back in time to the Middle Ages with friendly and helpful staff. Where there used to be a tavern, a new old one was reborn with loving work after about 3 years of construction.

The decoration was very special and medieval style. The interior decoration and architectural design complemented the restaurant style. The boss was very warm and hospitable. He was even enthusiastic when he first looked outside the restaurant. We were invited to take pictures inside, and the history of this restaurant and Meersburg was explained during checkout. Only then did we discover that it turned out to be a restaurant with a long history and a lot of stories. There was live music during the evening meal, but it was a pity that it had already been closed. I was full and passed by, so I only ordered beer. The beer was very mellow and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant! Absolutely unique! Absolutely fantastic! Highly recommended! We stumbled upon this hidden gem of a restaurant, drawn in by the exquisite dragon on the door. As we were peering in from outside, he enthusiastically invited us in to take photos. When we were settling the bill, he shared the fascinating history of the restaurant and Meersburg, revealing that this is a restaurant with a rich and storied past. My husband and I were visiting Meerburg this week and passed your restaurant and were seduced by the medieval menu. We were absolutely thrilled! Beautiful decor and furniture, charming staff, reasonable prices, excellent food and simply huge portions. I have to say it is the best atmospheric restaurant in Germany. So in terms of ambience it's a blast. Beautifully designed medieval feeling. (If you have heard the story behind it. There is a screen with renovation pictures. Old butterfly, what kind of task was that? Hats off. Centuries-old walls saved from decay. Strong.) Service in appropriate clothing and choice of words. Very stimulating to take part. The food was very wholesome and the drinks went well with everything. It is served in or on clay vessels, which fully underlines the ambience. The service was very polite and nice. I was there for lunch today on July 18th, 2024 and what can I say the restaurant is absolutely recommended and in such an atmosphere the food tastes twice as good. I had chicken kebabs with oven potatoes, a salad with a delicious dressing that was probably homemade, a glass of white wine and a stone jug of mineral water in a stoneware mug. Anyone who eats there is guaranteed not to leave the table hungry. And that definitely wasn't the last time I was there. I think I'll come back for my birthday but with company. Food was good though pricey, atmosphere was great. Our kids were enamored with the medieval style of the whole restaurant. It was fun for them to see the old weapons, tools and clothing hanging in the wall and on the service staff.

Das einzige was dieses Restaurant ausmacht ist das schöne mittelalterliche Ambiente. Das Essen ist absolut überteuert und das Geld nicht wert. Ich würde es fast als eine Touristenfalle oder Touristenabzocke bezeichnen. Ohne die Touristen, die auch nicht wiederkommen, würde das Lokal nicht überleben. Wir wollten das Restaurant mal ausprobieren, da wir hier in der Gegend leben und öfter Essen gehen, werden aber nicht mehr wiederkommen. Es gibt einfach qualitativ und preislich viel bessere Alternativen in Meersburg und Umgebung.

Since we were still quite early, we were allowed to choose a table. The atmosphere was very inviting and really appealed to us. The service was very friendly and the food was simply great.

I, the brave knight from Ammerland, and my wife were in the dragon fire today. We were politely greeted by a lovely maid and taken to where we were staying. The innkeepers and their servants and maids were very pious and hardworking. The feast was very tasty. Can only recommend the tavern. Dear people, stop by there.

Es war alles sehr schön und gut zum Abendessen. Der Service war fantastisch und auch super nett. Das Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt und vom Preis Aufjedenfall gerechtfertigt. Vielen Danke das ihr uns den Abend so verschönert habt.

Unfortunately we can't rate the food because we didn't get that far. After asking a waitress for a free seat, we sat down at the assigned table. We were extremely hungry because we came from Geneva and hadn't eaten much. The waitress stood at the next table and told her life story. After 20 minutes we were still waiting to place our order and the waitress continued to play solo entertainer for the neighboring table, we left again. I would say the waitress clearly missed her job.

Unfortunately, the original review was not published because it allegedly did not comply with the rules. But I'll correct that immediately. Great ambience and nice atmosphere. That was all. Waited 20 minutes for waitress. Waited another 20 minutes for drinks. After another 10 minutes we were asked if we wanted to pay our bill (which was like being kicked out because we only drank and didn't eat). The lady explained that we had ordered food that had not yet been served. After another 20 minutes the food finally arrived. Both dishes were lukewarm. Mine tasted ok, my wife's would have cooked better for my daughter when she was 2 years old. Clear away after another 20 minutes. Cash in 2 minutes later (amazingly fast). Once and never again.....

Inconspicuous from the outside. A very nice, rustic location from the inside. You can sit both inside and outside, although inside was clearly our favorite. You can tell that a lot of work goes into the restaurant! The boss served us. She was very attentive and friendly. The service was great. The food is very tasty and the portions are enough to fill you up! Highly recommended! If you want to have dinner there, you should make a reservation in advance. Cash and card payment possible. Public paid parking spaces are available nearby.

Super schönes mit viel Liebe hergerichtete mittelalterliche Taverne! Super nette Gastgeber. Haben sich viel Zeit genommen uns die Taverne mit allen besonderen Ecken zu zeigen u die Geschichte des Hauses mit besonderem Umbau zu zeigen u zu erklären wo die tollen alten Balken hergebracht u verbaut wurden. Ein Haus im alten Haus eingebaut das sonst abgerissen worden wäre und entsorgt. Die schönen alten Balken stammen von einer Scheune u einem alten Fachwerkhaus und wurden im Haus wieder neu eingebaut. Viele toll mittelalterliche gemütlich, schumrige Ecken, passende Musik ,wir waren überwältigt. Essen auch sehr gut, tollen Met ein riesiger Drachen der das Feuer speit 😉, Musketen als Zaun, Hexenküche, alles stimmig. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Very tasty food and exceptional ambience.

The atmosphere is very inviting, the food is certainly great (as already mentioned in other reviews), but we didn't even get that far: When we arrived, we unfortunately missed the entrance or "waiting area" and went straight to the restaurant. Since all tables had a "Reserved" sign, we stood between the tables/in the aisle and waited until the restaurant employee had finished accounting for the other guests. Afterwards, the lady overlooked us and went behind the counter (it can happen, that wasn't a problem for us). When she noticed us and looked at us questioningly, I asked if we could choose a table, since all the unoccupied tables were declared as "reserved". She then replied that she would have found out if she had waited in the entrance area and walked out of the restaurant (to the outside area) without further comment. We then looked at each other puzzled and left the restaurant. It was certainly our mistake that we overlooked the sign in the entrance area, but we should be a little more subtle with the guest here and not show such ignorance. This is simply inadequate service. All in all, we were extremely annoyed by it and it ruined half a day of our vacation. For this reason, after much consideration, I decided to write this review (also as a note for other guests who risk missing the entrance area).

Mega Gestaltung des Gastraumes auf verschiedenen Ebenen. Tolle Deko-Elemente und Belechtung. Man fühlt sich wie an einen anderen Ort verreist. Essen sehr lecker. Haben während unseres Aufenthaltes in Meersburg nicht nur ein Mal dort gespeist :) Bedienungen waren alle sehr freundlich und authentisch.

After a polite greeting, we were led to the place where our monster was treated lovingly. The service is impeccable, drinks quickly found their way down my dusty throat. And the food also came after a good time, as it was freshly prepared. The atmosphere and the food were so good that we went there three times in one week. 1x outside 2x inside. I highly recommend this tavern to anyone hungry or thirsty.
