A great medieval restaurant, the kind that unfortunately is far too rare! The food was delicious, some of the portions were great, although the fries could have been a bit larger. The prices were reasonable. The ambiance was fantastic, very quaint and cozy. They really made the most of the location. The service was super friendly, very attentive, and always helpful. Sometimes, however, a bit inattentive. However, since the place was very busy, that can happen. Overall, a very great restaurant, and we will definitely return when we're in the area! One comment that wasn't included in the review: it would have been nice if they offered something like a bread basket! The bread that accompanied the dishes was very tasty; a few more slices with dip as an appetizer or with a beer would have been perfect!

The ambiance is very original. The food is okay, but nothing special other than the unusual names on the menu. Some tables are very close together, so you can hear all the conversations your neighbors are having, or even have private conversations yourself. Overall, it's very noisy. Completely overrated in my opinion. There are much better restaurants in town.

Very friendly, great service! The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The mead slush was amazing! It was busy because of the wine festival, but the restrooms were always clean!

It was a very nice Saturday lunch. The service was very friendly, but you do have to be prepared for a bit of time. They could have improved by asking if you'd like anything else to drink. Otherwise, the food was excellent and the atmosphere was fantastic.

This restaurant, with its medieval ambiance, is a must-visit. The tables are set in small niches, fitting the theme. The food is hearty but very tasty, in keeping with the theme. I had meatballs that were world-class! Seven of us were there and had a very pleasant evening, which the friendly, attentive staff also contributed to. Highly recommended.

The restaurant has a rustic feel. The waitresses are friendly and helpful. The food is decent, apart from the meat side dishes. I would have chosen the Barbarian Plate. The potato wedges with garlic sauce were very tasty. The meatball, on the other hand, looked like it came from the Rewe meat counter and tasted just like it. The bratwurst didn't look much better and, unfortunately, tasted very watery. The turkey skewer was okay. Overall, however, the dish didn't live up to its €27 price tag.

It's like traveling back in time with a full stomach: Instead of bratwurst, they serve "dragon's tail" – and it tastes really good, too. The ambiance is reminiscent of a medieval tavern, and the service plays the part perfectly while remaining super friendly. You can even choose to pay with a "Taler" or "Witchcraft." Bottom line: If you don't leave here feeling full and grinning, you've probably parked your horse in the wrong place.

The food is delicious, but you have to be aware that you're paying a few euros more for a unique atmosphere. For two people, including drinks and dessert, it came to around €50. It was worth every cent. The service was also top-notch.

The Drachenfeuer restaurant in Meersburg is definitely something special for lovers of medieval ambiance. The interior is lovingly designed and creates an exciting atmosphere. Unfortunately, we found it a bit too noisy overall, which made our stay less than comfortable. We also found the prices too high for the quality of the food. Despite everything, it was an interesting experience worth trying at least once.

And another two years have passed, and once again I'm simply thrilled. Just immerse yourself in another era and let yourself be carried away by the culinary delights.

We were there two Fridays in a row during our vacation on Lake Constance and were absolutely thrilled! The food was incredibly delicious both times, the portions large enough to fill you up! The drinks were superbly selected! For mead lovers, the mead slush is a must; try it! 😍 Admittedly, the idea is strange at first, but afterward, you'll hardly want anything else! The ambiance is a 12/10! We've never felt more comfortable in a restaurant! Another highlight is the clay dishes! Everything you can imagine is made of clay! Totally cool! Another highlight was the invitation to eat with your hands if you like (as was the custom back then), the tavern music in the background, which rounded everything off wonderfully, and the reminder that you can ask the waiter for dice or cards. We brought a few card games with us both evenings. The waiters were all very friendly, too! Unfortunately, it'll be another year until we get here, but we'll definitely be spending more than just one evening there again! Thank you, dear Drachenfeuer team! :)

For a good eater, the Babaren plate sounds good, but unfortunately there is too little and nothing special that you get.

We were in beautiful Meersburg on August 21, 2025 (in pouring rain). After thoroughly exploring the castle itself, the rain and hunger spontaneously swept us into the Drachenfeuer tavern :). The staff were very friendly, the atmosphere extremely cozy (dim lighting, authentic medieval decor and furniture), and the food served was very tasty (and creatively named). There was Knollenschnitz with red sauce (potato wedges with ketchup) and Drachenschwanz with Knollenschnitz (bratwurst with potato wedges) for the little ones, Knusperknüppel (chicken drumsticks), and (my personal favorite) Rahmfladen (cream pancakes) with a choice of toppings. We also enjoyed cold drinks from clay jugs :). Afterwards, we paid with the Hexenwerk (EC card) instead of cash, and we returned home full and satisfied. The food is delicious. We received a warm welcome, and the service was very prompt. For a family of four, the pricing takes some getting used to (€120 to €130). It's definitely worth a visit.

A fantastic concept and attentive staff who put a lot of effort into both the kitchen and the service. The entire place is a successful journey back to the Middle Ages. Anyone looking for some culinary variety and a knightly atmosphere must stop here. I wish the owner and his team much success and hope that the concept continues to bring you so much joy and stays with you for a long time. I'd love to come back as often as I can! A great restaurant with a lot of heart and love for the Middle Ages. Friendly service and the food is delicious 😋. Good for parents with older children 👍. Wheelchair users will need assistance, as there are stairs and it can be a bit tight between the tables. A great addition to Meersburg and all fans of medieval history. Parking is nearby, but there is a fee.

Here, you feel like you've been transported back to the Middle Ages. The staff's clothing, the decor, the dishes, etc., are all designed around this theme. There isn't a huge selection of food, but it's very tasty. The terrace is small. We received very friendly service.

Great place, something different.

Since we were planning a visit to Lake Constance, I started looking for a restaurant in advance that might be something special. And we definitely found one! The welcome was very authentic and friendly. The young, blonde lady was absolutely fantastic. The food was delicious and plentiful. The dessert, especially the dragon egg, was amazing! The entire restaurant transports you back 500 years. The dishes are anything but ordinary... and the best part is, you can even buy the jugs right away to take home as souvenirs. It was a fantastic experience for us! Thank you!

This truly cozy tavern invites you to linger. The decor was lovingly designed. The menus are made of wood and fit the medieval ambiance. The tableware is also top-notch. Drinks stay cold for a long time in the clay jugs. The food tastes phenomenal. What I liked most was the peace and quiet, away from the tourist hustle and bustle that usually prevails in the city. We will definitely pay the restaurant a visit in the winter as well. Highly recommended.

Unlike other places, we were very well received as tourists. The staff was friendly and offered us a menu in French. Even if the translation wasn't always easy, it helped! The medieval atmosphere was pleasant and original. We simply had dessert. Their dragon egg was delicious! It's a dessert specially created for this restaurant and one they are very proud of.

If you're in Meersburg, be sure to stop by. This former cinema has been lovingly converted into a medieval tavern. Not so obvious from the outside, but the interior is a real gem. The staff are super friendly, dressed to match the theme, and the greetings and subsequent conversations are appropriate. Huge portions of food and drink are served at fair prices in matching earthenware. For the little ones, there's also a small menu or a robber's plate. The restrooms are only accessible via steps.

A quaint restaurant; from the outside, the dining room looks very dark. Be brave and go inside! The atmosphere is reminiscent of the Middle Ages. They address you in the third person. A 5/5 for me. You also have to like the medieval theme, which is why I'm only giving it my rating because I like it too. I absolutely love the Pilger (medieval flatbread with goat cheese, spinach, and honey, a kind of tarte flambée) and especially their mead with beer. It's simply fantastic, the decor is very harmonious, and the staff are great. Unfortunately, you're too far away to come by every weekend, so it's an even better experience.

We went to eat at the medieval tavern this evening (luckily at 5:15 p.m.). It was a spontaneous visit! We were very impressed by the ambiance, the service was very friendly and dressed appropriately in medieval clothing! The food and drinks were served in clay vessels in medieval style, it was brilliant... someone had really put a lot of thought into this! Plus the view of the old castle - it couldn't be better - a reservation is recommended!

I thought it had a cozy, tavern-like feel. It's a bit dark inside, but that's definitely part of the atmosphere. It wasn't busy when we were there. The food was okay, though the portions were small. The service was really good.

My family and I went to the restaurant because we reserved a seat. it was an easy decision because it was rated as a five star restaurant so why not. we ordered and we instantly found that the soup was bland I also ordered a sprite and the server said “ok a sprite” that clarified that he would get me a sprite. The sprite took quite a while to arrive and when I took a drink it did not taste like sprite I asked and sure enough it wasn’t. So a little bit upset I just ate some French fries/wedges and they were covered and I mean drenched in grease and I mean literally drenched. The price to me was crazy as well, it was so expensive for a small salad. So overall it could have been a better experience.i think some of the five star reviews were bots. Side note: waiters and waitresses were very nice. I did see the black knight and he was super friendly but gutted my father with his dagger. Where please god tell where the dragons fire was?!? Time for the medieval games. I hope I win the archery contest and fair maidens heart

The most noble and friendly maids serve the people. The food is also a delight for the palate, and the walls make the stay a truly enjoyable one. The gentlemen intend to visit this place again on their next trip.

The food (cream pancakes) was delicious, but the staff weren't particularly interested in taking drink orders! You practically had to force your way in to reorder – and the place wasn't full! Ordered drinks never arrived. Then no staff showed up at all. So, they couldn't even remind you of your drink order. Okay, we'll just go, what a pity!

We spontaneously stopped by for dinner one weekday evening and managed to get a good seat. I would still recommend making a reservation, though, as many people were already booked. Despite the nice weather, we sat inside because we loved the atmosphere! The restaurant is decorated with such attention to detail, and it feels like a little trip back to the Middle Ages. The staff were super friendly, the atmosphere was great but the food is not recommended, the price-performance ratio is not right, the barbarian plate for €27.90 is not fair, for a bought ready-made meatball and bratwurst and a small turkey skewer with salad and garlic dip and a few potato wedges the price is really excessive, a shame, I was really looking forward to the evening.
