Dicke Paula in Berlin

We were thrilled by the extremely tasty and beautifully presented food. We registered at short notice after a long journey from East Frisia and Gina squeezed us in despite the restaurant being fully booked, thank you again. Gina You are so sweet, friendly and funny, we felt very comfortable.

Berlin's highlights? The Tim Burton exhibition, Lake Tegel and of course: fat Paula. You don't know Berlin if you haven't been to the fat Paula. I love this little restaurant. An incredibly friendly team, really delicious food and a great ambience. The prices are also great, they fit even in a small wallet

Even though we are from the north of Berlin, it was our first time eating here and it won't be the last time. There were seven of us and everyone really enjoyed the food. The portions are large and the food is of great quality. You're happy to pay the price for that. The service is special 😄 and therefore unique. Great humor and great service. We had a very nice evening.

Good home cooking...sometimes food a little too cold. Unfortunately I have to take back my review. Shops are only interested in money, but friendliness falls by the wayside if you have something to complain about. Dogs used to be welcome, but now suddenly they are no longer welcome. We had specially ordered a schnitzel at asparagus time and were then allowed to pay for two dishes. When we noticed this the next day and asked nicely, we were ignored. That was just the beginning of several incidents. It's a shame, it was always nice but the store won't see us again

The restaurant interior is creative and lovingly decorated, but not to my taste.

Everything was fine. The boss has charisma, was quick, is uncomplicated and can tell the best of her life. The best thing is that the dishes taste super delicious.

100 stars – Fat Paula, that was really a blast! Yesterday we were at Fat Paula's for the first time - and what should I say? This was truly one of the hottest culinary surprises we've ever had! Actually, we only got there by chance, but the name and the top reviews made us curious - and honestly, they didn't promise too much! The shop is simply quaint and quirky, full of lovely little things that conjure up a really cozy atmosphere. But the real highlight is the fat Paula herself! Although she was hoarse and could hardly say anything, she rang the bell the whole evening with her warmth and wit. Her presence alone made the evening a real highlight. And then the food – simply bomb! You can really taste that every dish here is made with love. And as if that wasn't already good, I got another Königsberger Klops for free to try - that was really great! And Fat Paula’s colleagues? Simply awesome! Warm, funny and always smiling – we always felt like we were visiting friends. The service was attentive and warm, just made you feel good. In the end I left a tip of 10 euros - and that rarely happens for me! But here, with so much warmth and authenticity, it was really worth every penny. We'll definitely be back! Fat Paula and her team already have a permanent place in our hearts - so much warmth and Berlin snout, you can't find it everywhere. Absolute recommendation! Charming Berlin Schnautze + very good food

So far I/we have always enjoyed it very much. The portions are extraordinary and you will feel fuller than full. The “landlady” Gina has “snout” and that’s how it has to be! If you want something distant, dignified and rather impersonal, you just have to go to the corresponding “upscale” restaurants and turn up your nose. I can't understand all the bashing on the relevant social media platforms recently, especially from certain people (Stampfi and his Sachsenpaula, or whatever their names are... 😜). Probably hurt vanity and heartbreak 😂. I/we still go to “Dicke Paula” because I/we still like it and I/we like the atmosphere.

Oh what a shame! Our favorite place for 5 years when we are in Berlin. Now new concept. Price has increased, quality has decreased and unfortunately very unfriendly, almost mushy. Unfortunately it's no longer the best schnitzel ever. And our dear waitress B. from the former Stodo is no longer there either. It's a shame, an era is over.

I rarely give five stars, but it's appropriate here. This is a “typical old Berlin pub”. The portions are almost impossible to manage. The service was impeccable and the toilet was exemplary clean.

We went to the Berlin evening with Gina and Hans on Saturday. It was really mega. Great little Berlin restaurant with great food (large portions) and great service. Hans and Gina made great music and really created a great atmosphere. It was a great evening at fair prices. Keep it up. 👍🏻

Gina delivered food for a wedding reception. A great and very tasty cold and warm buffet!!! - Schnitzel, meatballs, grilled vegetables, herb curd as starters - Roulades/red cabbage/dumplings and pike perch/spinach/potatoes as the main course - Chocolate pudding with berry or vanilla sauce - Streusel cake and cold dog We know the Dicke Paula restaurant, but we also absolutely recommend it as a caterer!!!

Schnitzel is definitely worth try!

Good German cuisine with great prices in the Dicke Paula in a cozy pub atmosphere. Interesting selection of tap beer. Success proves them right! A glass of wine can cost €7.60, a bottle of wheat €6.20 or a leg of lamb €31.10. Please also note the 10 cents when calculating. It seems that the old regulars have been replaced by a new, wealthy audience. That's why 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆ because the Tegeler chic will pay any price, but only without a hat. One can only wish continued success.

It is a great recommendation to go to Fat Paula. The food, the service and the restaurant it's all just fantastic and unique. The restaurant is like a small museum. There is something to watch everywhere, as well as lovely food and service. Really a very big recommendation! You definitely have to have been there.

A typical Berlin pub, as I know it from my childhood. The landlady is warm and has the typical old Berliner snout (the Berliner is now dying out in Berlin). My friend and I really enjoyed the food. I had potatoes with quark and there was a cucumber salad, which tasted like my mom's (childhood memory). My friend still raves about the gravy :) Price performance is right for the food, the drinks are a bit expensive but what hasn't become more expensive? Fat Paula also has to survive. The toilets are clean and nicely done. We will definitely come back :) Take a look at the restaurant for yourself. If you want typical German home cooking, this is the place for you.

We came back twice for the delicious food and to see Gina again! Apart from the portions being huge, the food so so delicious and exceptional value, Gina for sure made the experience at this restaurant unforgettable! She welcomed us as if we were family and made us fall in love with Berlin! A unique experience, truly one of the highlights of our trip! Highly recommend!

Typical German food. Basically no option for vegetarian. Very specific sense of humor, i think only German will understand. A bit overwhelming.

Paula is unique. The toilets are clean: that's why you can eat here without hesitation. You come there, you get a saying, whether you want it or not. People laugh and understand the fun. The glass is never empty because it is served and refilled. The personal anecdotes are also simply wonderful. The food tastes very good. It's also great that there are no lumps on the plate when it comes to the schnitzel. The absence of the salad in favor of the fries and meat is spot on. I've never had a quick drink in a restaurant, but the atmosphere was just infectious. Again and again. Thanks for the great evenings. Update: You're even more likeable because you don't make an exception for "celebrities"...by the way: Even cowboys have taken off their hats to eat. Cool!

We stumbled across this shop by chance and were warmly welcomed and treated. I had the roulades and I have to say it was a feast for the palate! Great sauce!!! Gladly again !!!

We were warmly welcomed and given a table on the terrace, which is well in the shade. Definitely a must for a Berlin guest when traveling around Lake Tegel. The atmosphere inside is very cozy, the path to “Pippi Gasse” is wonderful. The food was quaint. Huge portions. We had stuffed cabbage, schnitzel with chanterelles and roast pork. It tasted very good and we felt very entertained. Greetings to Mannheim and we Berliners have now discovered a new restaurant.

I took my wife here for the first time today and I'm thrilled again. Great ambience, nice Berlin snout and the food is awesome. Excellent home cooking. For those complaining about prices, let me tell you: everything is fresh, of high quality and properly prepared. That has its price and is appropriate here. You will also be full.

I wasn't there yet. When I look at how the food is prepared in these pictures, I feel sick. The plate with the meat and the beans with the two slices of beetroot looks like it was thrown away. The seasoning is just as bad, the lemon just sits next to it on the plate without a lettuce leaf or lemon squeezer. Everything was done carelessly. I will never eat there. I work in a kitchen in the restaurant myself, we prepare the food for our guests with love.

Small but nice restaurant with a very nice landlady and a very friendly young man as a waiter. Delicious food, portions far too big (for me!) Difficult to find a parking space. There is a large parking garage with a shopping center nearby, and the restaurant can be reached in 5 minutes on foot. All in all, the visit was worth it. Happy to come back next time. Berlin visit.

The restaurant gave us a really nice reunion. Super good schnitzel. Unfortunately Kohlrade is not available because it is still in progress. So the fact that it is only produced on Mondays is nonsense. The restaurant is clean and has typical German furnishings. The shop has flair and, in my opinion, is always worth a visit. Gina fits perfectly into the store and we/I will be back. I still have to try the cabbage roll. Thank you for the great evening.

I was really excited because of the exclusively positive reviews. Unfortunately I was very disappointed! Food was ok, prices were way too expensive. The ambience is nice and the service is terribly unfriendly. The waiting time for the food is also clearly too long. I would clearly refrain from recommending this. For the prices charged, you can eat much better and of higher quality in Berlin.

Rustic restaurant with typical Berlin and German dishes. The “fat Paula” menu is not overloaded and offers every guest a large selection of delicacies. However, you should be hungry because the portions are rather generous. If you're less hungry, it's better to just look at the little things. The atmosphere in the "Dicken Paula" is funny, original and you always feel comfortable in this well-kept restaurant. Luckily, the landlady and the waitress still have the original “Berlin snout” and wherever that is, a big heart is usually not far away. As a long-established cultural bar, there is often a program on weekends. It's best to ask beforehand. Making a reservation is almost always the best decision.

Nice Berlin pub where grandma/mom cooks and serves. You feel more like you're in grandma's living room than in a restaurant. The food is hearty and always with a flake of butter for good taste. If you like grandma's food, you should just stop by there. This is Berlin!

Good German home cooking at really reasonable prices! We were served nicely, but guests next to us waited a long time and others were rudely turned away from the restaurant because they had a small dog with them. Unfortunately we cannot recommend it! Too narrow, too loud, too unfriendly and above all far too expensive!

Gina and her team welcomed me on my trip to Germany as if I were part of the family. I had so much fun here and ate so deliciously that I extended my stay by 2 days! I'll be back - definitely!!!

Fat Paula is just awesome. Unfortunately the boss wasn't there today, but the guys who worked today were also great. I celebrated my birthday there today and my guests were very excited. We had Spiced meat, chanterelles with smoked salmon and potato pancakes, lumberjack steak, Hubertus schnitzel and Letscho schnitzel. Everything tasted good, the only drawback was the potato pancakes, which were too fried on the edges. My mother just noticed it too late.

I described your restaurant like this in a Facebook query: I can recommend “Dicke Paula” to everyone who loves good, tasty, hearty German cuisine. Unfortunately they don't want me anymore. My little dog, who didn't bother anyone at all and was never noticed at all, prevents me from visiting. It's a mystery to me. They generally don't let dogs in anymore, regardless of whether they're cute, small or anything else. But they have house rules.

A really great cultural restaurant in the middle of Berlin "Big Paula". The motto, "No grandma cooks like grandma"... fits, very rich and tasty food. We were greeted in a very friendly manner, as were all the guests who came there. Gina always had a suitable saying ready, “free Berliner Schnauze” just as we Berliners say. There are a number of events that can be booked there, live music of various styles... Gina and Hans also appear. If you're lucky, there are parking spaces in front of the door, otherwise a few meters further in the Borsighallen, where there is a parking garage where you can go shopping straight away. But also very easy to reach by public transport. Absolutely a must if you are in the area. We will be back!

Locale tipo osteria. Offre una selezione di piatti tedeschi tipici della cucina locale, molto calorici e ricchi di burro. Se vi piacciono questo tipo di locali potreste rimanere soddisfatti, ma i prezzi sono assurdi. Per due piatti e un acqua abbiamo speso oltre 60 Euro. Sono stati molto lenti nel servire nonostante non fosse pienissimo. Nei tavoli fuori fumano tutti ed essendo lo spazio ridottissimo si cena con l'odore costante di fumo. Non lo consiglio.
