Dessi Tadka - Indian Street Food in München

Five stars for good food and excellent service. Highly recommended.

The food is just okay, but be aware, they are reluctant to accept cash, and when you choose to pay by card, the tip is already added, even though the service/food didnt deserve the TIP.

The restaurant looks very unassuming... but as soon as you enter, you're literally transported to another place. They play Indian (or Indonesian...) pop music, sometimes you can watch football or something else, a Buddha watches us from the corner, and the food, yes, the food, isn't the usual stuff you'd find anywhere else in Germany. No, it tastes absolutely amazing, and it probably wouldn't be any better even in India. Be careful: if it says spicy, it's spicy 😁

Man what a fun restaurant tucked away in Munich. Honestly I can't remember having better Indian food anywhere else USA or otherwise. The naan was delicious as was my main course. My only regret was I came here on my last night in munich. Had I know the food was this good I would have come here much much earlier. Lastly they has some absolutely banging music videos playing on the TV. Couldn't understand a darn thing they were saying but the beats were solid. Go to this restaurant, you won't regret it.

Great food, great prices, and overall a nice restaurant. They have a specific menu available during lunch FYI. Vegan options available. What I ordered was a bit too spicy for me, but fair enough. If you don't deal well with spicy, just let them know of course!

Food was average, nothing special. During lunch, the waiter said each person must order a dish, but this rule wasn’t written anywhere. Felt a bit forced and unclear. Not the best experience overall.

Food is the winner here! They serve amongst the best north indian food one can get in Munich. The owners are really friendly as well and served us complimentary tea as it was cold outside. We ordered Samosa Chaat, Kadhai Paneer, Bhindi Masala and some Naan. Everything was balanced, authentic and it wasn’t europeanised. The highlight was Samosa Chaat and Bhindi Masala. Will definitely visit again :) Update: Have been a regular customer of this restaurant since it opened around 3 years ago. However, my last visit was underwhelming. They’ve reduced the quantities and increased the prices. Unfortunately following the same trend that many Munich’s Indian restaurants do when they get famous and established.

We ordered 1 main course, 1 starter and 1 street food for €35. Already very expensive. However, written 3 times: please NOT spicy! Because of health reasons. And yet all the dishes were spicy. If this is not possible (because sauces have already been pre-cooked, etc.), the staff should be honest and not sell it to the guests. Couldn't eat the food. That doesn't work at all! Big disappointment especially for these high prices.

Unfortunately, something was missing from the delivery once again. I understand that things can go wrong, but it's always the same, either something is missing or what was ordered is not delivered. This is unacceptable. Something was missing from the last order, so I called and they tried to explain it out again. It's always the same with you. I absolutely cannot recommend this poor service. I don't order here anymore.

A lively street food restaurant with delicious dishes you won't find on every menu. We'd happily return.

Unfortunately, we arrived the place at 17.27 and entered thinking they will have us seated. Then one of the worker came and said when you see the light off, you should not enter the restaurant. We said we did not know your lights are open when you are open, coz we do not come here everyday. Then after that, the person started “bro” ing me with some rude attitude. You may at least have the professionalism to say could you please wait for 3 minutes more outside? Nobody will say no to you. But instead of welcoming “customer”, having a rude attitude and trying to give a lesson is not a way of handling your business…. Anyway, i hope one day I can review your food…

Very friendly team, the food is freshly prepared and comes to the table quickly. The food is very tasty and the crew also puts a lot of effort into the preparation. The menu is varied: Dessi Tadka primarily stands for street food, but you can also find starters, classic main courses and desserts. There are three small tables outside on the footpath on Hoffmanstrasse, as well as an indoor area at the bar in the entrance area and another, slightly darker room in the back of the building. Tip: Alu Tikki Chat from the street food menu! Full of flavor, different textures, different temperatures, sweet, spicy, a bit spicy. Pah-Bhaji is rare, so you should definitely try it: spicy and a little bit spicy, with warm, soft brioche buns.

Delicious food, also a good lunch menu, the price for the lunch menu is really great, especially for the vegetarian dishes.

We ordered here yesterday for almost 100 euros (3 people) and I was really skeptical at first. The prices are very high even for Munich standards. But guys… it was totally worth it. I know the original Indian cuisine and also the classic street food. In comparison, I also know the “Europeanized” Indian cuisine that is offered in this country. Apart from the offer that we know from the UK, this is the most authentic cuisine that I have encountered in Europe. It was aromatic madness! Go here and nowhere else if you want to enjoy authentic Indian street food. You will never want to eat anything else again. Mark my words!

Special food, not necessarily classic Indian. Some completely new flavors that make it so exciting. We sat further back right next to the fridge, which was unfortunately quite loud and made the stay a bit uncomfortable in the long run. We still really enjoyed the food and drinks.

As an indian person always on the lookout for good Indian food, this time i turned up in Munich on a work trip and was living right opposite this restaurant nestled on the corner of the street. Usually Desi being spelt with single “D”, this place intrigued me being with a double D. Much to my surprise, i had the food twice, one day after the other. The owner was sweet enough to cross the road and deliver me the parcel himself on Day 1. The food hit all the right spots. I ordered the bone-in chicken homemade style curry with naan which was served with rice. Perfectly cooked chicken and perfectly spiced gravy, it was the one thing i was craving for since a long time. I dont get a curry like this back in Berlin! Day 2 I decided to walk into the restaurant and ask the owner what i should order. Being a single eater with headphones on, i usually ask the owner to give me what he thinks is the best so he recommended Tawa Mutton bone-in again and again it hit all the right spots. It’s the only place that i have had Indian food back to back in a single week. Compared to Berlin its a little pricey but its Munich so its okay plus the food hits the spot so no complaints. Plus in the end, i also ordered the Chai, which again was good, kadak and a lot of elaichi! (Indians can relate) Kudos to the owner, the chefs and the service staff! Really job well done!

We ordered via Ubereats and the food was not good. I have never had these kind of vegetables in an Indian restaurant (carrot, mushrooms etc.). Additionally both of our dishes were too salty and didn't have a lot of taste. The meat quality was also not great. I really don't understand these positive reviews. And the name is certainly trying to lure people that are familiar with Deli Tadka.

Unfortunately disappointing - the wrong food was repeatedly delivered I was initially really excited about Dessi Tadka. The food was of great quality, the spices were well balanced and the service was friendly. But unfortunately my opinion changed after two consecutive wrong deliveries. I ordered butter chicken twice and instead received a completely different, extremely spicy dish - probably chicken tikka masala or vindaloo. I have an intolerance to spiciness and couldn't eat the food. The first time the mistake was corrected in a friendly and professional manner by the boss, but this time the restaurant simply referred me to Uber Eats and didn't offer me any solution. Mistakes can happen, but when they happen repeatedly and then no responsibility is taken, it is disappointing. As a regular customer, I would have liked a better solution. Unfortunately, after this experience, I can no longer recommend the store.

Good and uniquely flavored food in an area with very few restaurants. Interesting selection of dishes with a very original taste. Additionally, they also offer original street food, which is extremely rare in Munich. Glad I discovered this place. Will definitely go back more often.

I was recommended by some friends and the truth is that I loved the place, the food was delicious, products of Indian origin and the service was very good, a 10.

now I’ve been to many Indian places and I have never found one that’s soo good like this one I was recommend this I had driven along way and it took me 6 hours but it was worth it and they respected us and gave us Indian tea and mango lassi free of charge if you eat something there you want to order more and more please go there and give it a try.

Biryani was very spicy even though there was nothing on it. Luckily I was able to swap with my husband. After the friendly suggestion that he should write it down, he just snapped.

One of the best Indian Restaurants I've visited in Europe. Food has very authentic taste. Every dish I tried was true to its taste. Owner of the restaurant Patra Ji is very passionate and it shows.

Indian food here is always tasty, but the portion sizes disappoint me when ordering delivery. I encourage the business to increase them, as we are paying reasonable prices for good food.

A fabulous Indian restaurant right in the heart of Munich. More than the quality of their food, I loved how varied their menu is. Loved every bit of it. Totally recommend it!

Terrible, we didn't even get a chance to try the food. It smelled good, the restaurant looked nice too but we were treated very badly - the waiter or manager whatever, had no interest in winning new customers and treated us like we were worthless. We actually wanted to reserve a table and only had the simple and polite question of when it would be a little quieter because there was a special meal. He was passive aggressive, didn't ask when and also served a young man or took his order. We signaled that we would wait, but no, he typed in an item of the order, heard our question, then asked the young man again and then literally processed us. The shop was otherwise empty. If they're already overwhelmed with just two people, I don't even want to know what's going on when it's full.

Best Indian food we've ever had in Germany! Place is authentic and always full!

Disclaimer: This review is primarily for Indian customers who are particular about authentic flavors, like me. As an Indian expat living in Germany, the occasional craving for genuine Indian food can be overwhelming. Fortunately, some restaurants here have pleasantly surprised me. Unfortunately, your restaurant was not one of them. I recently invited a friend for an Indian dinner and decided to give Desi Tadka a try. I ordered the following items, hoping for a taste of home, but I was thoroughly disappointed: 1.Garlic Naan – Dry and lifeless, with chunks of garlic awkwardly scattered on top. 2.Vada Pav – I didn’t have high expectations for this dish, but you could have at least made an effort. There was no salt, and the pav (bread) wasn’t even close to real Indian pav (and please, don't excuse this by saying you can’t find proper pav here). 3.Pav Bhaji – The bhaji had no flavor, missing the authentic richness of pav bhaji entirely. 4.Samosa – If anyone wants to taste pure oil, they should order the samosas. There was no flavor whatsoever. 5.Charsi Tiger Chicken – By this point, I couldn’t bring myself to even try it after being let down by everything else. Lastly, the only thing that had any taste was the piece of cut lemon you served for which you got 1 star. If you're trying to represent Indian cuisine, please take it seriously. The lack of effort and authenticity here is disheartening, and I’m honestly puzzled as to how you've managed a 4.7-star rating.

Delicious aromatic food. Perfectly seasoned. Tiger chicken is a poetry of taste and its melting consistency 🤤. My beloved Mango lassi is also top notch. I like the street food section because I haven't seen it anywhere else (a starter made of balls that look like bread and the filling is a bomb of flavor). Affordable prices, very nice service. I'm glad I found this restaurant because I finally have a good Indian restaurant close to home. I can't wait to try more dishes

Dear Mr. Madhusudan Patra, 1.20 hour waiting time for 2 starters Pani Puri. Poor, unprofessional and biased service in this restaurant that makes customers feel like they are in an Indian restaurant for the first time. Please train your employees to be polite, respectful and accept their mistakes without blaming customers. Plus very rude employees is not something I imagined in your restaurant. Teach them to train them and be polite to everyone for the high prices we pay for such bad experiences at your restaurant.

I don't really understand how the reviews can be so good. Ordered 2 different dishes and received a spicy broth twice, without any distinction. I've had much better Indian. I can't recommend it. We tried it because of the good reviews, but unfortunately it was a flop.

Worst indian food I've ever had...

I recently ordered from Dessi Tadka and was utterly disappointed by the food portion size. I ordered the Hakka noodles for €7, expecting a decent serving, but what I received was barely enough for one person. The portion was miniscule. It’s frustrating especially when you're paying a reasonable price. I urge the restaurant to be fair to customers. It's essential to provide value alongside quality. I hope they take this feedback seriously and avoid cheating your customers in the future.

Garlic naan, samosa chat, pan bhaji, mango chicken, tandoori chicken. All of it was amazing! Highly recommend coming here!

Unfortunately that was nothing. The food wasn't tasty and the butter chicken was way too watery/runny. The meat content was also very low. Overall there was a lack of salt everywhere. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a snack bar with a few velvet chairs. You definitely shouldn't come here for a date or a business lunch. There is one more star for the very nice employees.

I went to Dessi Tadka with my friends for an evening food. We ordered masala dosa and vada pav. They were really good. I liked the dosa really well. Compared to the famous South Indian restaurants I felt these to be pretty good. Vada pav was also good. Regarding the seating, I found more options. You can sit outside the restaurant, and within the restaurant there are options to choose between a more silent and furnished interior as well as the normal seating. The ambiance is so nice. Overall if you are looking for some dosa options I would recommend Dessi Tadka for you.
