It's a matter of taste...I find rooms very dark. The food is okay with what you order. But I've been disappointed a few times...

It was our first time here and everything was very pleasant and relaxed. The menu is extensive and definitely has something for everyone. The prices are not the cheapest but you get something for your money. I thought it was a shame that the comments you left when making your reservation were not taken into account. Nevertheless, I can recommend the restaurant. :)

The food was great again. As always, great service and you can see what's going on. The covered extension was a great success, so you'll be happy to go there again and again.

Since the owner apparently doesn't like negative reviews, you are asked to delete the post. Waitress still remains very rude!!! Cup of tea for €4.90 is still way too expensive

Went to the Eisernes Gustav again after a long time, the kitchen has improved but nothing that would make me come back. Schnitzels are ok, Röstis etc. are unfortunately frozen. We ordered Eisbein and after 30 minutes the announcement came that Eisbein was out. Restaurant benefits from being the only "home-style restaurant" in the area...it's a shame

Always happy, delicious German cuisine

We went here for lunch on Christmas Day. Food was good and the service staff was very attentive.

A visit to the Iron Gustav is our recommendation! On December 25th, 2024 we had a meal with family in the great restaurant. From the warm welcome from the staff to the great food, it was a great experience, thank you very much for that! We'd love to come back!

Service was very friendly. The food offered wasn't always my thing, but the pork knuckle tasted very good. The food was more than sufficient.

A really good pub in a rustic atmosphere. If you like German cuisine with a good beer, this is the place for you. The service depends on the duty schedule. From being very friendly and attentive to being dealt with quickly and coldly, I've experienced it all.

I absolutely loved my visit to this restaurant! Everything was really top – from the food to the service. The food: The dishes were excellently prepared, tasted an absolute highlight and beautifully presented. You can immediately tell that they work here with great attention to detail and high-quality ingredients. The Service: The staff was extremely friendly, attentive and professional. You immediately felt welcome and well looked after. Wishes were fulfilled promptly and you always had the feeling of being a valued guest. Conclusion: This restaurant is a real gem and definitely worth a visit! I'll definitely be back.

It used to be a lot better there, right? Half the duck didn't taste good at all today. I was so excited about it. Unfortunately, that had nothing to do with a nice roast duck. Only cooked briefly? Just thrown into a commercial kitchen appliance? The duck was dry and didn't have any delicious roast duck flavor at all, the skin was fat and not crispy and the sauce didn't taste like anything. The duck probably only flew over there for a short time, it certainly wasn't lying there, which was very disappointing. The spiced meat and the solyanka were very tasty. The Kutscherschnitzel was also just, well, dry and not seasoned...

Unfortunately, despite the good food, there was no feel-good atmosphere as it was far too narrow and crowded.

There were four of us here today. In the middle of the Christmas celebration season. It was very busy, but things went quickly and we received good and friendly service. There is good German cuisine, which doesn't happen that often anymore. I can only recommend it. Great value for money.

We were treated in a very friendly and attentive manner and our small dog was also welcome. Prices are generally a little higher than other home-style restaurants, but it's worth it. The cooking here is obviously based on craftsmanship and the dishes were all of noticeably good quality. I can highly recommend the warm chocolate cake with mango and vanilla ice cream. Finally a dessert in a restaurant that isn't too sweet, with fresh mango and amazingly creamy vanilla ice cream. It's not uncommon for me to regret ordering a dessert in restaurants when I've gotten halfway through it because they're often way too sweet and not really interesting in texture or taste. But this one was balanced, seemed very fresh and sophisticated. Also the leaf lettuce - crunchy, even with red orach and lush, a delight! Only the - delicious - vegetable gratin could have been a little more or supported with something solid like rice, quinoa or potatoes instead of just served with white bread - that alone probably wouldn't have filled me up. But overall a very pleasant experience, even as a vegetarian. We'd love to come back!

I was there a few years ago, but the food has improved 100%. The outside area also looks inviting. Thumbs up.

Great restaurant, the pork knuckle was great,

The two of me went there on Sunday without a reservation but I still got two seats. Food plus drinks, everything was ok. The food was ok for us, no bangers or anything. Atmosphere was just too loud for us, it was probably because it was very well attended or, in other words, it was really good for the boss. It's hard to say whether I'll go again in the summer, maybe you can sit outside. Otherwise a thank you to the staff

Good old home cooking, very tasty with friendly service

The cuisine has improved significantly over the last two years. Good, German and home-style cuisine with French influences. Some new dishes like the Cordon Bleu are a real treat. Only a few convenience products are likely to be replaced by fresh, home-cooked products, e.g. the typical triangular potato rosti. If you know what is freshly made in-house and stick to the corresponding dishes, it is a very good address. The service is very friendly. The children's meals are also worth mentioning.

It's conveniently located in Berlin.Buchholz.Easy to reach by tram.The food was excellent.Red cabbage.Dumplings.Roulade.like at Nuts.Also the other food people ordered looked good.All hmmmm.So go there.

Great food, we loved it, not cheap but worth it.

Absolutely nice place to have a fun dinner with friends or family. The service staff is welcoming and friendly. The food is great, and so are the drinks! We had the luck to visit there towards the Octoberfest period, so they offered a special dish for this occasion and there was a DJ with some nice dancing music that made the atmosphere so good and happy. Important to note that orders from the kitchen can only be made until 21:00, as the place closes at 23:00.

We were there on August 15th. this year in the Iron Gustav. A restaurant with tradition and well-known German cuisine. We were welcomed very nicely and professionally! Every now and then I like home-style cooking that meets expectations. As it is busy, it is advisable to reserve a table.

It was a very nice evening in this restaurant. Food absolutely top. Real German “homemade food”. Attentive service in a nice and historic atmosphere. Gladly again! Recommended: beef roulade, ribs and Mushroom goulash. Everything else is certainly the same good.

Good, German restaurant, classic dishes of good quality. The roulade with red cabbage and dumplings was very good (photo). The pork knuckle with sauerkraut and pea puree was also good (photo). Unfortunately, the triplets didn't suit us as a potato side dish. We find simple potatoes more suitable . As a little tip, perhaps add a little extra cooking stock, as the pork knuckle meat was quite dry. The Creme Brülett could have been a little bigger, but it was delicious. The Eastern classic raspberry shower top!!

Good home cooking, just like grandma knew it :) Good, simple but appealing atmosphere, very nice service staff. Everything fits together. Have been here several times. As always, the food was very tasty and sufficient. Price-performance ratio is completely fine for today's times. Definitely coming back.

I tried to cancel a reservation today. 1.5 hours long. The receiver was apparently wrong.

Ambiance... well, we sat outside, the tables and chairs are very wobbly due to the old paving. Service... untrained, unmotivated and not particularly hard-working staff, no uniform clothing, smoking in front of the guests. Food... given its oh-so-good reputation, I expected more. At best housewife level. Very unfortunate.

We have been here many times and have to say that the food is always perfect, tastes excellent and the staff are always friendly. We would love to come back.

A wonderful lunch at the Iron Gustav. The beer garden is in the shade at lunchtime, so it literally invites you to linger. The good German cuisine, a larger selection of beer and the extremely friendly and attentive staff leave nothing to be desired. Thank you very much, see you next time 👍🏻

German and French cuisine, anyone who has ever read about the person Eisener Gustav knows why. The menu is surprisingly large, the food is inexpensive for today's times and very good. Children's meals for €4, the portion is big enough for 7 year olds, my recommendation are the fries with truffle pesto! Perfect appetizer for two. There were 7 of us, everyone was thrilled, only our vegetarian complained about the portion size of the Mediterranean casserole, too small and few cheese balls. If you're a vegetarian, it's better to have a snack from the menu first.

After a beach trip we were hungry and found the food very tasty and extremely cleverly combined. I was even impressed by the tomato sauce with the shrimp or the combination of coachman's cigar and BBQ sauce. French nuances and Berlin dishes. We were looked after by three waitresses who didn't know about each other. Everything went smoothly anyway, they were in a good mood and very nice. Next time we'll take a trip to the Iron Gustav without swimming - just for the food. Highly recommended.
