Too expensive for the quality of food

We had dinner on the terrace near the river with a wonderful view. The StäV burger was delicious, and we also enjoyed the Flammkuchen, but what I recommend most is the StäV Reuben Sandwich—it was delicious! For dessert, we chose the kalter hund and the apple strudel, both highly recommended.

One of the best german food in Berlin with a nice river side outdoor seating. Top notch flammenkuchen, great salads and curry wurst. And also Partick has a really personal and respectful approach to customers. Seriously recommended!

Place located along the river. Really nice location and it is very pleasant to eat outside especially on a beautiful sunny day! Maybe a little touristy but the menu had typical dishes, it was very varied and it was all delicious! The staff was very kind and super helpful and the service was not fast...more!!!! The prices are super honest and the portions are right!

Super simple and delicious cuisine, excellent service, but unfortunately always quite busy and loud at any time of day or night (which also speaks volumes about the restaurant). The atmosphere is nice, right on the Spree, in an old building, but the S-Bahn train is right next door. The decor is rather rustic.

Ah, the StäV. It's like the Bundestag of Berlin pub culture – an institution where even the Rhinelanders sometimes quiet down and enjoy themselves. Staff? Polite, efficient, and always with a joke on their lips. And the best part: You always somehow manage to get a table here. My insider tip: Sit right by the Spree, close to the waiter's table (because of refills, of course), order a cold little Kölsch – and the Caesar salad to go with it. It sounds unassuming, but it tastes like election night with a happy ending. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but hey – you're happy to pay for the location, the view, and the atmosphere. This is Berlin deluxe, without the frills.

An incredibly beautiful spot on the banks of the Spree. If you're lucky enough to get a table right by the water, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the water and the ships. The food is delicious, and the service is friendly and attentive. The clientele is diverse, and the atmosphere is very relaxed. A visit is definitely worth it.

The asparagus was raw, and the hollandaise tasted like cracked egg. The service was pushy and didn't let you choose. It was very loud inside, more like a bar than a restaurant. The prices were exorbitant.

Fallen from grace. Arguably once one of the coolest bars in all of Berlin… but… under new ownership, garbage! They’ve done away with the legacy staff and killed the concept in favour of profit. Sad. The food is still good and you can’t kill Gaffel, but the “StäV” is dead to System Gastronomie. Schade. RIP.

I like the inside & outside of the restaurant/ bar. We were here for drink, it was good. The service also.

I've been there every now and then for several years, but yesterday the food was just cold and one of the livers wasn't cooked through.

Unfriendly staff Unfortunately, I've been very dissatisfied several times. Despite good business, they have to clear larger tables after two hours. Not worth a visit for me. Fortunately, Berlin offers plenty of options.

Nice decor and a nice terrace. On the other hand, the service is rude and the food very approximate, hot dishes served cold, perhaps because we were in a group of 20 people, but the cold currywurst drowned in ketchup with mayonnaise-covered potatoes is not very enjoyable. A good point for the bread and dessert, fortunately.

Well. This review is to bring attention of new chef. The portion of the fries is twice less than it used to be a month ago. Pls fix it.

Food was fantastic & the beer was cold. What more could a working trip to Berlin need. The server / hostess ruined the experience. She was aptly trying to seat four to a table. My business partner and I were made to sit on one side of the table and throughout the dining experience trying to put another pair on the other side. Also received a lack of service until we started speaking and indicated we were foreigners. The server was impolite and asked for tips at the end. Have worked in a variety of FOH Hospitality roles and I’ve never seen this service style. It was so abhorrent it was almost comical.

Fantastic classical German/Rhenish fare at extremely reasonable prices given location and history. Service is also really friendly. I can only recommend this institution!

What happened to the StäV? As a Cologne native living in Berlin, I stop by every now and then. Ever since the beginning. The Kölsch beer tastes good and the food is quite good, if a bit overpriced. The atmosphere is also lovely thanks to all the really great photos – no question. If it weren't for the incredibly stressed, sales-focused service. You get the impression that the clock is ticking when you enter the store. The StäV is acting like a Cologne-style restaurant and has become a departure hall. A real shame. Maybe the staff should do an internship in the Rhineland. It might help. In any case, I'm now thinking very carefully about whether I'll put myself through this again.

Service was mediocre, unfriendly, and difficult to find a server so I could pay. Good and plentiful food. 1L of tap water €5 Atmosphere > noisy.

The best tarte flambée I've ever eaten! I ordered the goat cheese & bacon tarte flambée (without bacon, of course, since I'm a vegetarian) and it was incredibly delicious. We were in Berlin for three days and even ate there twice. The asparagus was also delicious, but the tarte flambée is an absolute must-try! I highly recommend this restaurant – a very relaxed atmosphere on the banks of the Spree and friendly service!

Disappointing Visit – Non-Transparent Billing and Questionable Behavior The three of us sat outside by the Spree and drank four Kranzes of beer. When another person joined us later, we ordered a fifth – making a total of five Kranzes. When we asked for the bill, we were suddenly told it was 10 Kranzes – that would be over 6 liters of beer per person, which we found completely unrealistic and absurd. When we asked, we were told there were no cameras outside. The manager then offered to "agree on nine Kranzes." When we declined and pointed out the obvious discrepancy, he angrily disappeared behind the bar, saying he would call the police – we never saw him again after that. To us, it seemed like an attempt to intimidate us. Another waiter then said the police would take 1.5 hours and we should sit down. When we called ourselves, we were told that a patrol car could arrive in about 30 minutes. Shortly thereafter, we were suddenly told we only had to pay for 7 wreaths – a new number that hadn't even been discussed before. At the same time, another couple complained about a noticeably high bill. Conclusion: The billing outside was incomprehensible to us, and the way we handled criticism seemed unprofessional. We ultimately paid 2 wreaths too much, even though we repeatedly pointed out the discrepancy. A simple line system on a beer mat could have easily prevented this situation. It was a very disappointing experience for us – we certainly won't be coming back.

The place and staff were really nice but the food was not quite what i expected. It felt more like they spent more attention on making it look nice than making it taste nice. I had a tartar for starter, pork on the bone as main course and a lava cake for dessert. The tartar was good but i wasn't a fan of how they added the things on top of it. The pork on bone disappointingly got dryer the closer to the bone i got making it quite unpleasant to eat. I have zero complaints against the lava cake it was quite good. Overall i would recommend people to go here for the beer and atmosphere not the food

Hello I was there some time ago drinking Kölsch beer outside with two friends. When it came time to pay, the waiter simply kept the remaining money without asking. He then did the same to my friend. We confronted him about it, and there was no apology. He then simply threw the remaining money on the table, made a face, and left. An absolute NO-GO!!!

Compared to a Cologne brewery, there's not much Rhenish flair here. The service is far too friendly and attentive for that. On the walls, there are many memories of Bonn/Cologne, the former Federal Republic of Germany, carnival medals, and: delicious Kölsch. The name!

This restaurant offers classic German food and beer and is located right by the Spree River. It’s a popular spot and often very crowded. The waiters were friendly, but it was hard to get their attention. The place feels authentic, though I didn’t really enjoy the atmosphere—it was too busy, and I had to shout just to talk with others. I was also a bit confused by the pizza with prawns—not to mention my friend from Italy! Still, it’s a decent place if you’re looking for traditional food in a lively setting.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand the practice of explicitly asking guests for a 10-20% tip. Your service was good, the atmosphere pleasant, and the food excellent. But when we wanted to pay, the waitress asked us directly whether we wanted a 10% or 20% tip and informed us that the tip would go directly to her. We declined, as we are all students. She then explained that the mother of one of our companions wasn't a student. As far as I know, it's not customary in Germany to actively request tips—it should remain a voluntary gesture on the part of the guest. After our polite but clear refusal, the waitress's attitude suddenly changed: She placed the bill on the table without a word and no longer smiled. I don't know if it was because we spoke English or because we look Asian—or if it's simply customary to actively request tips in this restaurant. In any case, it left us very confused and with a bad feeling.

We sat outside and were served after about 20 minutes. The drinks arrived about 10 minutes later, and the food took a while. I asked after 30 minutes... it's coming soon. After almost an hour of waiting, sorry, two meals were booked and will be here soon, and the other orders had disappeared. The server who took the order had already finished work. Even though everything was entered into the machine, was the order gone? We then left and didn't have to pay for all the drinks for four people. It was a shame, but the way the complaint was handled was good.

A very creative restaurant serving affordable Kölsch beer and good food. The restaurant has a very interesting concept and is definitely worth a visit, at least for a drink.

Such a cool historical restaurant with great German food. The interiors tell German history. The goulash is particularly great. Service is kind. Only critique is it’s very loud and the acoustics are not great so can’t really converse very well.

I highly recommend the tarte flambée, and the liver is just as delicious. The service was attentive and cheerful. Cushions are also provided, which are needed for the seating arrangements. I'm always happy to come back. And of course, the Kölsch is a must.

Anyone looking for rustic food in Berlin has come to the right place. Kölsch on tap, Cologne tapas, brewery cuisine, and, in season, asparagus. Simply delicious and, for the Rhinelander, always a taste of home. You'll also often bump into the odd politician here.

Today we were in a group again in the permanent representation. As always, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. Unfortunately, the visit was spoiled by the waiter when he wasn't happy with the €7 tip at the end and said so loudly and left without saying goodbye.

Famous restaurant with German and Berlin food, where you can enjoy the beer atmosphere with a good knuckle and other typical dishes. It was full and difficult to reserve. Very good quality quantity price, slow service.

Very well-known address, original decor with all the photos of people known or less known to Germans and tourists, the meal was good. On the other hand, the restaurant is very noisy and when it's time to pay, we are surprised to hear that we are asked for a tip in a very, very insistent way, trying to make us believe that it is obligatory, when it is not true. Frankly no ethics or respect for the customer when the prices are already quite high, 25€ for a burger.. BOF
