Very good food, friendly and attentive service, beautifully renovated dining rooms and remarkably good acoustics: Even when the restaurant is full, you can have a good conversation at the table without having to speak particularly loudly.

Best southern German - Austrian guesthouse cuisine and best family-casual service in Berlin. If the angel pool didn't already exist, it would have to be reinvented.

An absolute “insider” tip (or no longer) in Charlottenburg. Bavarian-Austrian (Alpine) home cooking at its best. Fully packed to the last seat when we were there. Don't forget to reserve. Great location by the lake.

The duck was excellent. You can share it, which is only says on the german menu. The beers were amazing, 3 vegetarian options including one vegan one. Deserts were not bad

The “hosts” (the people who work there) are extremely friendly and accommodating. Serge Pasang deserves special mention with his unbeatable sense of humor! Always attentive, for example when it comes to orders, but so pointed with his unobtrusive wit and flashes of inspiration that the evening always ends happily. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

We (4 people) had our Christmas party in the angel pool like every year. We always order a goose. This was perfectly cooked and very tasty. We also really enjoyed the side dishes (red cabbage, kale and two types of dumplings with sauce). Serge served us. He was very friendly, funny and created a good atmosphere. We were just a little surprised about the bill. The price is now €49 per person and since the supplements could be reordered cost-free last time, they have now all been charged extra. Given the high basic price, we found this a bit petty. Nevertheless, a clear recommendation for the angel pool.

Wir hatten versucht einen Tisch im Restaurant zu bekommen und konnten nur draußen sitzen, da innen alles ausgebucht sein sollte. Während unseres Aufenthaltes waren bis zu vier Tische im Restaurant unbesetzt. Für uns ist das wirklich traurig, da es zeigt, dass da jemand nicht auf die Bedürfnisse der Göste eingehen möchte.

My Schnitzel was dry and the meat extremely thin and tasteless. The online picture shows that it should have been accompanied by a sauce I did not get. I picked this restaurant because of its good reviews. The compromised food quality and overcharge on vegetables were most likely because I did not speak German. They charged me 9.5 Euros extra for two small extra vegetables. The other meat dish with the same number of vegetables was only two euros more expensive than the one I picked. The waiter wanted to take the remainder of the money without giving back the change. The change was more than the tip I was going to leave. When asked she did not give me a small change and I had to ask again. As a tourist I felt cheated and the experience was unpleasant.

Great! Had an amazing evening even though we were only able to book short notice. Can only recommend.

Excellent quality food, well presented and with beautiful flavours. A wide choice of dishes that change on a daily basis so never boring or repetitive. It's a pleasure to visit as there will always be something new to try on the menu. The most friendly staff. One cannot say they have tried Berlin cuisine without visiting Engelbecken. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam und zugewandt. Wir aßen diesmal vegetarisch und waren von der Qualität und optischen Präsentation sehr angetan, Ungewöhnlich die saisonalen Tomaten-Kreationen. Absolute Empfehlung!

A nice, down-to-earth restaurant with very good cuisine. It is not a star restaurant, so there are no excessive decorations or tiny portions. There are freshly cooked dishes from local cuisine (German-Austrian). So Wiener Schnitzel with potato salad, roast pork with coleslaw and crust. The breading on the schnitzel could have risen a little better, the sauce on the roast pork tasted a bit like a sauce thickener, but overall everything was of good quality. The service was nice, fast and friendly and our various special requests (5 people) were also correctly taken into account. We had a nice time sitting outside and would love to come back.

Very nice service. I had a very tasty veal schnitzel with fried potatoes. Parking situation a bit difficult. Nice view of a park. Exceptional beer. We sat outside on a bench. We were immediately offered blankets because it wasn't that warm in the evening.

On a warm summer evening we had dinner there after a 5-hour drive. Organic beef boiled beef and the Wiener Schnitzel were excellent. The staff was very, very friendly and attentive. Price-performance are balanced. We had a very, very nice evening.

Probably after a generational change in the restaurant and 22 years of eating here, everything is no longer as fantastic as it always was. The cucumber and potato salad doesn't really taste good anymore; The schnitzel now lacks any flavor and the great vegetarian starter platter is not only very reduced but also squeezed onto a small rectangular plate so that you can't even eat it with your eyes. The other dishes on the menu also used to have more flair and a special taste. The salad, however, is still the best you can order in a restaurant! Unfortunately, it's no fun that you can't even reserve a table for eight people (on a Wednesday evening) eight days in advance. Eight people were too many at once. When we are there, the staff are generally friendly as ever.

Service (the standard is very low in Berlin anyway), atmosphere, right down to the food, was good. I think the design of the restaurant is the best thing about the Engel Becken. But it was all very traditional and there was just a little bit of perfection missing (in every course) to say that it was something special. I have to say, I didn't try the schnitzel but we ordered other dishes that evening. Maybe the schnitzel really is the best here.

Ich war gestern zum Essen dort, Tegernseer Brauhaus ist der slogan und habe mir ein Backhendl bestellt. 16,80 € hab ich gedacht, ok. bekommen habe ich ein Stück panierte Hähnchenbrust, ca 100 gramm. An allen anderen tischen sahen die Portionen allerdings gut aus. Die Bedienung war zauberhaft. Der Tellerbote, wahrscheinlich der Chef eher unverbindlich.

A big plus point was the cleanliness of the toilets, which were always in immaculate condition. The food was OK, but not outstanding. I've eaten better and the quality of the food could be improved. Still, the selection was acceptable and there were some good options. A particular highlight was the service. Our waiter was incredibly funny and knew exactly what he was doing. He served us very well and created a pleasant atmosphere. His friendly and professional manner significantly enhanced the visit and made us laugh. Overall, the visit to the restaurant was satisfactory. The excellent cleanliness of the toilets and the excellent service from the waiter made up for any small deficiencies in the food. I would recommend the restaurant because of the great service and clean environment and would happily come back.

I work not far from this restaurant in a cafe. My parents came to Berlin for the first time and wanted a typical German restaurant, several customers of my café recommended this restaurant to me and it was an incredible surprise!! Very friendly atmosphere, very very good quality dishes at affordable prices. Our experience was enhanced by Serge's kindness, we had a lot of laughs with him, I hope you will have the chance to meet him too! I will go back soon I think!

Staff is rude and arrogant, after complaining that we wait for 40 min for starter, he responds that we waited ONLY for 32 min. No sorry, no excuse. That's the attitude.

Nice pub character, very nice and attentive service, food quantity ok, quality good, prices peppered. Sometimes very loud inside when small children are playing. Dessert “Bavarian Cream” (a really small bowl -handful) for 9.50 euros, ugh. The bill for four people (no starter, one main course, one drink and only one dessert for everyone to share >>> 130 euros without tip).

Das Ambiente ist ganz schön und der Service durch die jungen Damen aufmerksam und zügig. Ärgerlich ist aber, dass an einem Samstag sowohl das Schweineschnitzel als auch der Krustenbraten aus ist. Das darf einer solchen Gastronomie nicht passieren. Für einen rote Beetesalat mit Feldsalat 11,50 € zu verlangen, bei dem die rote Beete, meiner Meinung nach, ein Convenienceprodukt ist, finde ich überzogen. Das kleine Kalbsschnitzel mit einem Löffel Kartoffelsalat 22,00 € zu verlangen, macht die Sache nicht besser. Wer viel Geld ausgeben möchte für vermeintlich wenig Gegenleistung ist hier richtig.

It's a shame, I still know you from your time in Kreuzberg, your service and especially the food were always good there. Unfortunately, our last visit was more than disappointing. We were supposed to wait at the counter for our reserved table, no problem, but we stood at the counter between tablets with cleared glasses and in the way of the service staff. We weren't offered a drink here at first. The quality of the food was sobering, a roast without a crust, roughly chopped red cabbage, the large Wienerschnitzel consisted of 3 small parts, with a small dollop of potato salad. I really hope that this is just a blip and not a new found thrift.

My relationship with this restaurant has been going on for many years and yet I have only been there twice. I was born here in Munich about 15 years ago. The impression left by this visit lasts to this day. Never before, nor since, had I eaten such a great Wiener Schnitzel. But is this really true? Present. With less time to spare, this restaurant was targeted. The first time in 15 years that the time and place matched. The waiter? Fantastic. The drink selection? Hometown. The schnitzel? Phenomenal. And the apple strudel? If I had to come up with an internationally valid definition of apple stoodle, this would be this pattern. I recommend every fan of Bavarian cuisine to go to Berlin and experience it.

Wonderful neighborhood restaurant. The food, atmosphere and service were all great

Not sure why we picked this restaurant, it is way off from Berlin mitte. We got in taxi and took off, most of Berlin blocked by police due to demonstrations- we ended up with a 35 minute taxi ride. Such as life. That again stole valuable time from our fixed time slot by the table. Arriving was a blessing, packed restaurant, meet by a very attentive staff, got a different table where we could sit and enjoy a long as we wanted. Relaxed atmosphere, family, friends and business all a good blend. Ordering was fast, service first class. We chose this location to get away from the clogged down tourist locations. Great place , selection of food limited but first class. We had the veal schnitzel and strudel for desert. Just perfect, as we had been longing for.

Reviews and the menu whetted the appetite for the Bavarian cuisine of the Engel Becken. But the reality was disappointing: the selected dishes tasted bland or stale (from the day before?) and lacked character. It's a shame, good cuisine can be different!

Catastrophe! With all these 5-star reviews, I now have to describe my view of this establishment. We were there for my mother-in-law's birthday. It was a disaster and the most terrible restaurant visit I've ever had in Berlin. The drinks didn't come for ages (30 minutes). The birthday child's meal was simply forgotten, then a completely different dish arrived. No apology. The dish she actually ordered actually didn't arrive until we were all finished. The arrogant waiter just dismissed the whole thing with cheeky “jokes” (“Well now you get it to take away and I’ll tie a bow around it”). There was a fat, black hair in my husband's salad, and when we wanted to return the salad, there was no apology, in fact, NOT EVEN A NEW SALAD came, but the saying that "I looked for the salad in the kitchen with a magnifying glass and “None found.” So we were also portrayed as liars. We now wanted to speak to the owner, who apologized and graciously said that we could each choose “a dessert or a drink on the house”. To be honest, I would have expected a little more for a birthday party that went badly wrong and everyone went home sad. With such disastrous service and such poor treatment of guests, I feel resentful when I see these reviews here. We were there years ago and something similar happened. Either we're not the kind of people who like having the angel pool sitting next to us, or people don't know what good service is anymore.

One of our favorite restaurants. The veal schnitzel is very tasty and can also be ordered with fried potatoes. But the changing vegetarian dishes are also highly recommended. There are actually always 2-3 changing vegetarian main courses.

Lovely evening with endearingly attentive service. Both of our dishes, crusty roast and lamb plantlets, tasted excellent and were very well put together with both the side dishes and the sauces. First there was a delicious clear goose broth and for dessert a skilful combination of filled chocolate pancakes with cinnamon ice cream. Good value for money! Highly recommended!

Restaurant in Charlottenburg. Offer organic quality meat. This is of course reflected in the prices. The salad with the fried chicken (19.50) had collapsed. Wheat beer 400 ml 5.90, red wine 7.50 the cheapest glass. Desserts from €9.00. Then we bit back on them.

Liebe Geschäftsführer des Engelbecken Wir waren bis dato aeusserst zufriedene Gäste Ihres Lokals. Seit unserer 3 letzten Besuche hat sich alles mehr ins Negative entwickelt. Es geht bei der Reservierung los weiter mit der Kleidung von verschiedenen Bedienungen weiter mit dem modifizierten Essenspreis und auch der präsentierten Gerichte. Siehe Foto im Anhang. Jetzt die Erklärung: Weinpreis von 0.2 auf 0.1 berechtigte Erhöhung?????. Kalbshackbraten: Eine Oval servierte Boulette kartoffelgratin und Wirsing in unverschämt kleiner Miniatur Ausgabe. Beim Schweinebraten erwartet man eine klare Jus keine abgebundene Soße. Topfenknödel: mehr Grieß wie Quark habe bei Ihnen des öfteren wesentlich bessere Topfenknödel gegessen keine Füllung und neutraler Geschmack (Kenne das Rezept). Leider ist die Atmosphäre nicht mehr so wie in vergangenen Jahren Mit freundlichen Grüßen

Das Engelbecken ist einfach jedesmal eine sehr gute Adresse zum Essen. Ob Mittagessen oder zu Zweit zum Abendessen einfach sehr gut. Kompliment an die Küche es ist jedesmal ein Schmaus hier zu Essen

Seit 7 Jahren nehme ich mir vor hier Essen zu gehen. Jetzt hat meine Freundin einen Tisch reserviert und hat mich am 30. Damit überrascht. Ich bin begeistert. Super leckeres und qualitativ hochwertiges Essen. Preise sind der Qualität und dem super Service entsprechend fair! Es war ein toller Abend und ich komme mit Sicherheit wieder ❣️
