Metzer Eck in Berlin

Unfortunately on March 11th We had an unpleasant experience when we wanted to have something to drink and eat around 5:30 p.m. First they left us wondering whether we would get a table - there were a lot of unoccupied tables - then they asked in a very harsh tone whether there should be anything else... no, unfortunately not there anymore!

Excellent schnitzel, delicious beer & good service! There is no better place for a get-together

Time slows down here! Traditional berliner beer house. Great quality and casual friendly atmosphere.

A warm welcome and delicious, traditional German fare. The soup was delicious, I enjoyed my schnitzel, and the dry Riesling was prefect. We shall return! Note: they don’t take credit or debit cards, so make sure you have enough cash.

Great rustic restaurant which has been running since the early 1900s. You can definitely feel the charm of the years it’s been through. Very unique character. Schnitzel was great as well

Traditional Berlin pub. You can't complain

Interesting place, simple and cheap meals, we came across it by chance. It may be necessary to reserve, but we arranged and made a table sharing with other visitors escaping the cold. Remember to ask for the menu of the day, the basic menu is available in several languages.

Heel gezellig oud (1913) café met vriendelijke bediening. De sfeer is heel leuk, je waant je in de oude tijden. Echt een aanrader voor een gezellige borrel of een hapje eten.

Si hay un pub que sé que voy a visitar en cualquier vacación que tome a esta fascinante ciudad es Metzer Eck , estado aquí muchas veces a lo largo de los años, siempre lo pasé bien y así lo demostró en nuestro último. Un pub de gran aspecto, el interior es magnífico, muy auténtico, es una institución de Berlín Oriental, no ha cambiado en años y mucho mejor para ella, gran decoración y mobiliario, un bar de servicio de aspecto fresco domina la sala principal y hay un montón de opciones de asientos repartidos por todo este pub tanto dentro como fuera mirando a las calles concurridas y bulliciosas alrededor de este pub. Pedimos cervezas, estas fueron servidas en excelentes condiciones siendo heladas frías y espumosas y simplemente nos relajamos y disfrutamos del gran pub en el que estábamos mientras bebíamos nuestras cervezas. Las cervezas servidas aquí son spot on , frío helado y muy fácil de beber, era tan bueno estar en un pub tan encantador disfrutando de una cerveza de calidad y se sentó con mi hermano gemelo , mejor compañero de cerveza del mundo. Ambos disfrutamos mucho de nuestras cervezas aquí antes de seguir adelante y aunque nuestra visita fue solo fugaz como en cualquier otra visita a Metzer Eck nos lo pasamos muy bien. Metzer Eck es fácil de localizar a lo largo de Metzer Straße. El horario de apertura es; Lunes a sábado, 16h hasta medianoche. Domingo, cerrado. Vale la pena comprobar si estás en la zona.

The star dish is the schnitzel (like Milanese from Argentina but a different touch because they add a little bit of butter with herbs on top that melts) which is the specialty and delicious. I suggest a plate to share if you don't eat much dinner because we ordered one each and it was too much. PRICE: From 12 euros per schnitzel. CALL BEFORE you go because we were only able to eat thanks to a woman who offered us the table she was leaving. HOW TO GET THERE: The M2 leaves you one block away (and if not on foot because it is close to Alexander Square) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Metzer Eck on Metzer straße fue un brillante pub y restaurante del viejo mundo que ofrece una gama tradicional de comida y bebidas y está en una excelente zona de Berlín, donde hay muchos pubs / bares y restaurantes. Este es un magnífico pub y restaurante del viejo mundo que se estableció por primera vez en 1913 y ha sido propiedad de la misma familia desde entonces. Se encuentra en una esquina y se encuentra en un magnífico edificio del viejo mundo. A little disappointed. I went to this restaurant ten years ago, and I loved it. Family atmosphere, typical Berlin dishes (pork shank, pea puree...). So I went back there with my eyes closed with friends. But: more than Currywurst and Schnitzel on the menu. Very good otherwise, but too classic. The service was quick and friendly. However, there is a grimace when it's time to leave. My French friends who paid that evening did not think, as good French people, to leave a tip. We were clearly glared at, I only understood afterwards! So: good, friendly family setting, but nothing extraordinary and... Don't forget the tip!...

old Berlin corner pub with an almost family atmosphere in Prenzlauer Berg. Good beer, delicious schnitzels, pool table in the back room with great pictures on the wall... What more do you need for a nice evening with friends.

I would eat at Metzer every day!! Typical German place with incredible food quality. The ladies who work inside are very kind. The only flaw is that you only pay in cash (you can withdraw from the machine in front of the restaurant). Everything Top!

We were in the city again and spontaneously found a place in Metzer Eck. The food was very tasty, the local Rollberg red and also the Rollberg light are highly recommended as a beer. The service was excellent and super friendly with always a nice word to say. We will come back if it is possible, but then with a table reservation, which you should definitely do because the corner is popular and well attended.

Atmosphere seemed cool. It was just me so I went ahead and asked if I could do a no reservation (seems like you need a reservation here since they turned away parties). They sat me at a table by myself and I was able to order a drink but that’s it. They didnt ask me for food and I was waiting the whole time while drinking my beer. I just left 5 euro on the table and left. The bartender and server were outside vaping. Would not recommend unless you do a reservation or if the service is nice on a certain day.

Everything was fabulous, even making reservations for many people was no problem. We were treated very kindly and especially outside you have a nice Berlin feeling without it being too loud.

The real deal. Very authentic feeling place. Great front beer garden in a quiet street. Not too touristy.

Were here for summer skating and it was as usual. Menu small but nice - all recommended. At the beginning the beer came to our table quite well, later it got better :-). You can't say anything - always happy - full marks

The Metzer Eck is one of the few traditional corner bars still in existence! The food is delicious and the home cooking is very good value for money. The service is personal and with a lot of heart!! You immediately feel very comfortable there!! The beer garden is of course great in summer - you sit under very old trees - the border is made up of hydrangeas in old beer barrels - so just feel good and enjoy!!!

Lång och intressant historia på stället. Okej mat men inte mer. Så arg ägare/servitris när vi inte förstod hennes fråga om vi hade reservation att det nästan blev komiskt. Himlade med ögonen, höjde rösten och slängde fram menyn.

Delicioso! He estado comiendo principalmente a base de plantas durante unos años, pero estoy aquí en Berlín y nuestros anfitriones nos llevaron al restaurante para auténtica comida alemana. Teníamos el schnitzel y la albóndiga. Yum yum yum. No volveré a la carne, pero no me arrepiento. El schnitzel era enorme y de lejos el mejor que he probado. La albóndiga era como una deliciosa hamburguesa. Las patatas estaban crujientes y hechas con tocino. En general divino. Muy recomendable

I came to this place after careful research on where to eat Berlin food. The place is historic, well kept and very characteristic, located in one of the most particular neighborhoods of East Berlin. The service was very good, and so was the food, which however I expected to come with more generous portions. Prices are basically ok and in line with other similar places in Berlin. Prepare cash because they don't accept cards (in Germany the managers are not obliged to differ from Italy, so don't start arguing unnecessarily)

I can't comment on the food, service and environment because a lady at the entrance told us that the place was closed when it was supposed to be open... closed for the Germany match?

Estábamos dando vueltas buscando un lugar para tomar algo de cena y nos topamos con Metzer Eck. No teníamos una reserva, pero nos obligaron con una mesa al aire libre. Nuestro servidor era clásicamente alemán, estoico pero amigable. Ella nos desafió a utilizar nuestro alemán en lugar de cambiar inmediatamente al inglés, que apreciamos mucho. Basado en la clientela, esto era claramente un restaurante de barrio vs una trampa turística estándar. La comida era muy buena y hablaba a una pequeña cocina donde todo se hace con amor. Disfrutamos mucho de la experiencia auténtica y lo recomiendo a otros que buscan un sabor real de Berlín.

Closed for no reason 😢😢😔 If there are no staff available, you can let the guests know and maybe understanding will develop. We are tourists and the advertisements on TV made us want to take a look at the oldest pub. After the 2nd attempt we decided on the assessment. We changed the ambience because the plants outside are really beautiful.

Dringend und kurzfristig brauchte ich eine Berlintypische Ur-Kneipe für meine Jubiläumsfeier und man empfahl mir das Metzer Eck. Goldrichtige Entscheidung für die "location" für alle Absprachen in der Vorbereitungsphase und die 100% Umsetzung des Zugesagten. 50 Gäste und Lob von allen Seiten für das Metzer Eck, insbesondere den Service und die Vielfalt der angebotenen warmen und kalten Speisen und die Qualität - angefangen beim warmen, frischen Brot über die Braten, die kalten Platten bis hin zum Dessert. Witzig der Einlasser "security rote Kalaschnikow", der sauber und grimmig schauend, gemäß Gästeliste nur Gäste für die komplett angemietete Kneipe einließ und die Professionalität der sichtbaren Damentroika um die Chefin, neben dem alles richtig gemacht habenden Küchenteam. Einziger Wermutstropfen - einer der Gäste wollte Billard spielen, alle Gäste wollten feiern und die Kellnerinnen konnten meinem einsamen Schwäbischen Freund auch nicht helfen. Das ist eben Berlin - immer frech freundlich - aber Job ist Job. Für mich, jederzeit wieder, wenn man es schafft einen Termin für solche Feiern für 40 bis 50 Leute rechtzeitig abzustimmen. For us it was a true discovery and highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic German experience.

If you are looking for a traditional Berlin bar and food with lots of heritage you can do no better than going to Metzer Eck. The business has been in the same family for about 100 years. Excellent outdoor area for some good evening summer sun.. essential booking as it is always booked out. Go inside the bar and see the heritage of it as it has not been updated with many original features like the coal fire (not working as now as part of the bar). The Schnitzel has to be one of the best value and taste ratio I have tried in Berlin. , go for it with herb butter as super delish. I do feel other items on the menu are a little expensive for what you get but still very tasty.

Rustic, original pub with good schnitzel. The map is clear, but the decision isn't too difficult. The waitresses are Berlin originals and friendly as long as they are treated kindly. The pub has been in family hands since the beginning of the 19th century. There's good beer on top.

What a pleasure to eat in this authentic German restaurant. The staff and clientele where so friendly. Steeped in history if you can get in I'd say is a must. Next time I'm back I know where I'm getting my schnitzel

A nice, very authentic restaurant, good, simple dishes at prices that you can hardly find in Prenzlauer Berg. The beer selection is also very good, not the usual monotony. Disadvantage: It requires at least one real vegetarian dish.

Rustic corner restaurant with a long tradition. Good beer, wine and spirits. The food was really great, we had schnitzel with really homemade potato salad and one with fried eggs and also very good fried potatoes. Everything is great.

A really lovely, historic bar. It's very cosy and welcoming. The staff are excellent, making it a really great place to relax. It's a nice oasis away from busy Berlin bars. A good selection of drinks are available. It feels very homely.

When multiple times, they clearly do not want an American in the restaurant because they said they were full even on a Tuesday when there were clearly seats available.

Wir erlebten zu zweit ein schnoddrige, überhebliche, fast unfreundliche Bedienung, Leben vom Rum der Vergangenheit. Wenn man nicht direkt zur täglichen Trinkgemeinde gehört ist man ein Fremder, der ausgegrenzt wird. Diese Gaststätte kommt kiezbetont daher, ist aber kein vergleichsweise positives, professionelleres Aushängeschild für die berliner Gastronomie. Kein Dankeschön und Auf Wiedersehen, auch bei einem reichlichen Trinkgeld. Mein Freundin entschuldigte sich fast für jede neue Bestellung, da unser Tisch, an dem Fremde sitzen, prinzipiell nach der ersten Bestellung gemieden wurde, aber mit dem Nachbartisch "Schmusekurs" betrieben wurde.....

Glücklicherweise hatte Curry 32 Urlaib und sind so zu diesem Kleinod der deutschen Küche gekommen. Super Currywurst, der Kartoffelsalat war so gut ich habe nur extra Portion bestellt. Sohn 4,5 J war begeistert von den ehrlich fertigen Bratkartoffeln. Wer stylisches Interieur und Hipsters sucht, ist? hier falsch. Wer ein zünftiges Bier mit ner richtigen Currywurst sucht, muss hierher. Konnten leider nur die leeren Teller fotografieren. Haben es einfach zu flott reingefahren :-)

Wie eh und je, sehr lecker, gute Bedienung und ein schöner, ruhiger Platz um den Feierabend zu genießen.

Die Karte ist sehr klein, dafür aber gut und lecker - Brotzeit als Starter mit Schmalz und dann ein Schnitzel mit Bratkartoffeln - oder vegetarisch einen Salat - gut bürgerlich, wie es sich für eine Eckkneipe gehört - und EBENFALLS gut bürgerlich und mit dem Herz auf der Zunge die Bedienung - wenn das Berliner Eis gebrochen ist und man sich erstmal gegenseitig angepflaumt hat, läuft es super 😉 so wie es in Berliner Eckkneipe halt sein muss Danke für die Runde Schnaps 🤟🏼

Essen war super. soljanka wie zu Hause und Schnitzel auch wirklich gut. Nur für die Bratkartoffeln gibts ein bisschen Abzug, die waren irgendwie gummiartig und liessen sich schwer kauen. Ich kann den Laden definitiv weiterempfehlen. Preis / Leistung ist spitze!
