Cochinchina in München

Cochinchina has become an institution in Schwabing. But what makes it so special that we keep coming back? It certainly starts with the warmth of the staff and the pleasant first impression. The food is presented very attractively and is always super fresh. You can tell this from the carefully selected herbs when you order, for example, make-your-own summer rolls, or from the other ingredients in the dishes. Special requests are also happily accommodated. Overall, we regularly leave this restaurant in a good mood and look forward to seeing Mr. Tang, Mr. Long, or the rest of the regular staff again.

Absolutely fantastic food. I've been there several times now and every dish I've tried has been delicious. The vibe is great, whether with friends, family, or for a date night. The staff is also really friendly. I'm already looking forward to my curry the next time I go.

We ended up at Cochinchina in Munich by accident — and what a great surprise! The food was delicious, the atmosphere stylish yet relaxed, and the whole experience was fantastic. Unfortunately too expensive for frozen goods, dumplings were dry around the edges, fried beef was very dry and fatty.

This restaurant has two things going for it based on my experience 1. The Pho and the atmosphere. They are obviously under staffed as the service was horrible. Nice waiters but overwhelmed and all over the place. The spring rolls were super average. The vegetable rolls were tasteless. I think it has huge potential but they really need to improve on their service l. It’s unfortunate as I was really looking forward to this dinner.

Came here for lunch and had fried udon noodles with beef and vegetables. Price was 17.90€ which is too much for what it is tbh. Anyway the taste itself is not bad but a lil average tbh and no wok hai. Service is friendly tbf. Overall it's just okay.

I visited Cochinchina for the first time with friends this Weekend. The atmosphere and service were great, but unfortunately the food was very disappointing. It felt like there was more emphasis on appearance than on substance: everything looked stylish and well-presented, but the flavors were dominated by soy sauce. We tried several dishes, including grilled tuna with asparagus and shiitake mushrooms. The quality of the tuna was poor, it was over-grilled to the point of being partly burnt, resulting in a dry texture and a bitter taste. Overall, it was not a good experience and certainly not worth the money.

I've never had such good Vietnamese food! Crispy rice with vegetables, beef, chicken, and seafood! Perfectly seasoned. Pleasant atmosphere and very attentive service! We'll be happy to eat there again on our next visit to Munich.

Paid €10 for a lemonade, on the waiter's advice. I felt ripped off. (A 250ml coke was €4.50). Didn't leave a tip. The food was delicious, though.

Amazing food! We took few appetizers to share, and then each of a main course, it was a good decision. The spicy dishes are moderate spicy.

We had a tasty lunch at Cochinchina, with tasty original dishes, and a nice ambient in one of the lovely streets of Schwabing. They use good ingredients, and the waiters are friendly and attentive. The price point is a tad higher, but you should expect that based on the location and the quality of the food.

The appetizer is delicious, but the dessert banana tastes like banana mash 🤨 It's really weird to use old bananas for dessert.

The wine list, the high-quality furnishings and the exceptional menu make Cochinchina stand out from the usual standard. The quality of the food and drinks is very good. The portion sizes are OK, but you should order an appetizer to fill you up. A lovely experience - thank you very much, I would be happy to do it again!

The food here is really delicious and, in my opinion, worth the money. There are many ingredients that you don't find in run-of-the-mill Asian restaurants, such as snowcrab or banana blossoms. You can't actually make a reservation for lunch on Saturday, which is semi-optimal, especially with a group of 5 people or more. The service is just a bit "messed up" and firstly didn't serve the food anywhere near the same time and then brought the wrong food/food from other tables three times. But since everyone is very friendly, 4 stars.

The food is super delicious, and you can go there with the whole family. However, you should make a reservation in advance to ensure you get a good seat. The price/performance ratio is unbeatable. The food also tastes very good, the spices are good, and the staff is very, very friendly.

The two of us spontaneously went to Schwabing for dinner at Cochinchina. The atmosphere is very nice, warm and cozy. The menu is extremely diverse and the advice on this is exemplary. The quality of the food is exceptionally good and the eyes also eat. The only downer is the fact that when we accompanied you to the table at 6 p.m. it was immediately pointed out that you only had the table for two hours. We would have liked to have stayed longer. As usual in Schwabing, the parking situation is difficult and requires a little patience. We'll go there again.

For an (Asian) restaurant in this price category and these reviews, I expected much more. I was very impressed by the ambience, the furnishings and lighting concept - everything was very harmonious, inviting to linger and promising to spend a nice culinary evening in small or large groups. The service was extremely friendly, but for my taste it was too distant and passive. Unfortunately, the dishes of the individual courses were served to everyone at the table with a long delay. The offerings on the menu make you want to try things out and eat and are sometimes different from alternative restaurants. In my opinion, the offer and the variety are a bit too large. The presentation and presentation of the food is absolutely ok, the dishes are beautifully chosen. In terms of taste, I expected more, everything tasted quite "normal", unfortunately no special features or highlights compared to restaurants with similar or lower prices. As an example, I would like to mention the quality and degree of doneness of the duck we ordered. The pasta bowl served for €27.90 consisted of some undressed/seasoned pasta, raw lettuce, grated carrots, raw bean sprouts and carved duck. A small bowl of fish sauce, chilli, etc. was served - the concept was to mix everything together and enjoy. Definitely tasty, but for this price quite bland and with little craftsmanship or taste finesse. For starters we had, among other things, the papaya salad without shrimp. Instead of the prawns we were promised more papaya salad, on the plate there was a large hand of papaya salad with peanuts, coriander, etc. - very delicately seasoned, but also rather usual without that certain something, which I bought for €17.90 had imagined. What I also found striking was the room temperature table water served in smeared carafes for just under €7. All in all, we had a lovely evening with delicious food without any culinary highs at a price that seemed inconsistent to me. For me personally, the individual dishes are around €5-10 more than what I would be willing to spend on them. In my opinion, restaurants in this price range have to be more consistent in terms of ambience, service and cuisine in order to get a place on my recommendation list.

Very good food from Thailand. I enjoyed the fried calamari and papaya salad. The service is fast and excellent. Classy decoration in general, but i found the tables are a bit compact in the middle. Lots of couples... even a dog this evening.

Wir waren erst am Samstag wieder im Cochinchina. Die Angestellten sind unfassbar nett und ich wurde sogar zurückgerufen, nachdem ich in der Online-Reservierung um eine andere Zeit bat, als verfügbar. Auch unserem Tischwunsch wurde nachgekommen - einfach perfekt. Ich bin seit 8 Jahren regelmäßig dort und kann ganz klar sagen: stets zufrieden. Der Service ist zügig und freundlich. Das Essen wird stets heiß serviert und ist wirklich jedes mal gut bis äußerst gut. Das schöne moderne Ambiente lädt zum Wohlfühlen ein. DANKE liebes Cochinchina Team und bis bald.

Very nice restaurant. It's very comfortable to sit. It is bright and attractive. The staff is super friendly and accommodating and very attentive. The food is very good to excellent. The meat is cooked to perfection and the vegetables still have some bite. Everything is tastefully coordinated. It is also beautifully arranged visually. The high price is definitely justified. Great restaurant, cozy atmosphere, nice staff and really good and fresh food. The selection of food is great. Everything from mild to very spicy is available. If you love vegetables, most of the dishes are a paradise. Rarely have I eaten such great, crunchy vegetables. The meat is always well cooked and very tasty.

You always have to make a reservation, no question. It was super tasty, very unusual and delicious, both in terms of taste and textures. A new employee served us, but that was also very nice, he did a very good job considering the number of people. You have to like the noise level in the restaurant. All in all, a very nice evening and every seat was completely occupied.

My friend and I went to Cochinchina this past Sunday for lunch, and unfortunately, we both ended up with acute food poisoning afterward. We ordered dishes with seafood, and within hours, we were both extremely unwell. We noticed it was lunch here where we got the food poisoning after noticing we had both taken a sick leave today and exchanged information to find out we both got the same issue after lunch here. This was a very concerning experience. I strongly urge the management to review their food safety and hygiene practices, especially regarding seafood. Food safety is crucial, and this incident has made us very hesitant to return. I hope this review helps others when deciding where to eat, and I sincerely hope the restaurant addresses these issues immediately.

fantastic Vietnamese food experience. the food is solid - best Vietnamese in Munich. for example, when your dish is accompanied by herbs (rau) then you get four or five types of jungle herbs. not typical for the rest of Munich where Vietnamese is typically only accompanied by fresh basil however, its the attentive and friendly service, upscale and tasteful decor that really elevates the atmosphere and has made it one of my favorite restaurants in Munich. just look at the green papaya salad - great presentation. they also have the best coffee i have had in Germany. order the ca phe sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee)!

Food is good but very expensive. What is very annoying is that they accept all reservations and are then over-reserved. Then you wait 20 minutes even though you have reserved.

Everything was great, but unfortunately the food was too sweet for us. We ordered two salads. They would have been really good without the extreme sweetness. The crispy tofu, on the other hand, was a bitter disappointment. It doesn't taste like anything - you can take it off the menu. Nobody misses anything. Service was great. Polite and competent. Since years ago great place to go for variety of menu, high quality food, tasty cocktails and a lovely fashion atmosphere. It is always full, and it can be loud/very loud if you have kids around. When the weather allows you can sit outside and enjoy the cosy atmosphere there too. Avoid coming by car since it is almost impossible to find a parking slot.
