Chi Thu in München

I love every minute of Chi Thu. And yes, that includes the grumpy guy at the counter. The food is spectacular - I mostly go for the Bao Burger. I’ve also had spring rolls and fried bananas. It is served fast and the value is more than fair. I’ve eaten in and taken out and was never disappointed.

I start with the good things about this place. The food, and this is why we were very upset to leave at the end of dinner very upset. The owner was extremely rude. It looked like he didn’t want us there to buy its food. I do not recommend this place to anyone. I surely hope he changes its attitude.

Il cibo è buono ma non vi aspettate la cordialità e il calore vietnamita. Cafoni e maleducati senza rispetto per la gente che spende soldi nel loro locale. Non parlano né inglese né tedesco, ci hanno letteralmente levato i piatti da sotto il tavolo e dovevamo ancora terminare di cenare.Prima e ultima volta. Adios

Maleducati e scontrosi, il personale è poco disponibile nella spiegazione dei piatti. Sembra quasi disturbarli ad entrare nel loro locale, cibo nella media nulla di speciale. Esperienza pessima da non ripetere.

Chi Thu Restaurant offers a solid dining experience. I've been there several times and the food always tastes fresh and authentic, especially the Bun Bo Hue, which in my opinion is the best here - strong in taste and nice and spicy. The staff is friendly, but sometimes a bit distant, which makes the service seem a bit neutral. Nevertheless, I would like to come back, especially because of the good quality of the dishes. Recommended for Vietnamese food!

I did only get the chicken banh mi but it was super dry and just not that good to be honest. Im a huge banh mi expert if I do say so myself lol but for the price id skip it honestly.

The sandwiches they offer are absolutely delicious. Didn't have to wait long either. I have now tried all three sandwiches and all three were very, very tasty

I tried bahn mi and iced Vietnamese coffee. Bahn mi was quite tasty with fresh veggies. But the meat was a bit dry. Coffee was quite good with the hints of caramel. I would recommend!

I think the food is very good. The price is also cheap. The restaurant is self-service. Unfortunately, the cutlery is extremely cheap and feels difficult to hold. It even cuts your hand because it is very sharp. The stools are very uncomfortable. The napkins are typical for ice cream parlors and don't absorb anything. I really like the food, but the place really needs chairs instead of the weird wooden and plastic stools. You shouldn't take street food too seriously ;) I don't want to feel like I'm sitting on the side of the road

Very good food in normal price range for Munich.

Vietnamese food is delicious and everything is served quickly. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nostalgic for old Vietnam, I recommend you come and experience it.

The food was tasty, but the portion size was very sufficient. It is a self-service shop, the gentleman at the checkout was a bit grumpy and short. The ambience is solid, although the plastic chairs are a matter of taste and the smell in the upstairs room was a bit strange. There is a good selection of veggie and vegan dishes. Be careful, the lemonade is incredibly sweet. Never drank such a sweet soda.

Classical street food atmosphere restaurant, normal prices and great food! Service is really fast, they have tokens that ring when your food is ready, cool and less crowd waiting around. Ate pho and burger, for one VERY hungry person great but individually portions are good.

As always great place for a quick and tasty vietnamese food. I was not aware of this Chi Thu restaurant close to Sendlinger tor before. Actually I find it the most cosy one. And this time I tried the new Bahn Mi Baguette with Seitan. It was good, but the version with tofu is still my favourite.

Not a long wait, varied menu and cozy in the shop.

We enjoy dining here because the price-performance ratio is excellent. I particularly recommend the Bun Gha. Since my girlfriend has celiac disease, we have to make sure to order it without fried onions because of the gluten. In 95% of cases, they get it right, but we’ve had a few instances where we had to send the dish back due to contamination. Despite this, we can confidently recommend Chi Thu, especially if you don't have any dietary restrictions.

All in all - it was PERFECT! The ambience is super authentic and gives the Vietnam flair. The service is super nice and polite. The prices are totally fair (I think Bahn Mi for €8 is really good) and the food too... wow. It was so spicy, so much flavor and just very authentic Vietnamese cuisine. So I was really excited about everything and was so happy that we got a place!

We enjoyed the food that tasted great but we have to remove 2 stars due to the unfriendly staff and the lack of organization.

The restaurant is decorated very beautifully, in old Vietnamese style. Food prices are very affordable compared to Munich. My favorite dishes are chicken sticky rice (10e), special bread (10e), durian sticky rice (7e). Banana sweet soup and dumplings are very good. The minus point is that the beef noodle soup is not rich.

Sehr leckeres Essen, frische Zutaten, nettes Personal. Authentische Küche. Atmosphäre wie im Urlaub. Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis.

We were here as expected and so satisfied. No standard food but everything freshly prepared. We were warmly welcomed and felt very comfortable! Thank you for the lovely time with you.

Super tasty Asian fast food restaurant, slightly higher priced

Restaurant: Chi Thu (Munich, Germany) Summary I came to the restaurant for a Banh Mi, went elsewhere for coffee, and after coffee, I came back for Pho. Pho broth is light in flavor, a good amount of msg, and had the slightest smell and taste of aromatics. Imo maybe the worst Vietnamese Pho I’ve ever had. I took a spoon full of Broth and a bite and gave it away to another party member. There was 1 size, and it was on the smaller size. This Pho would go great with all the stuff Mongs like to add to their Pho. Would I eat here again? Yes, for Banh Mi and no for Pho. Banh Mi: 9.5/10 One of the best Banh Mi I’ve ever had. The store actually looks very inviting from the outside, but that is an illusion. The service is good, but unfortunately the food is not. It is unfortunately (excuse the language) inedible. We once had number 60 and number 62 (soup). This one was really terrible. Not once was the broth edible. Apart from that, it is very poorly seasoned and there are too many disgusting herbs in it. I also have to say that we eat Vietnamese food very often, but we have never had such a bad experience before. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. We felt bad afterwards). :(

Super tasty and reasonably priced food, waiting time was relatively short and warm. The only drawback was that it was very crowded and the tables and chairs were small. Given the size of the store, there's no other way to do it. Therefore full marks.

The last thing - the card reader didn't work despite having two different cards and then I was informed that I had shopped too much. Asian politeness. Would have liked to eat there but under these circumstances - thanks no.

Massively disappointed! I bought the dish no. 82 bun chay which was supposed to be noodles with tofu and crispy tofu with sauce. Instead the dish is actually a small cold sour dish with tofu flakes and nothing else. It was also the most expensive dish. I was still hungry after. Sad. To pick up your order you are given those Disks which light up and make an annoying loud noise to alert you. The problem is it was CONSTANTLY ringing all around the restaurant and made having conversation impossible and distracting. Won't be going again.

Our card was not accepted for the first time, we paid in cash. The attendant had difficulty communicating in English and German with us, she also didn't want to fill the water bottle.

Charged my card and then insisted I needed to enter a PIN. On a credit card. No. Will never visit again.

Love them! Great value for the price and the beef Bánh mì is DELISH. Also get the iced vietnamese coffee bc it rocks and it's super well priced compared to other speciality coffeeshops in Munich. I looove Chi Thu!

I've been to the Chi Thu shop several times and the food has never disappointed me :) The portions are large and tasty and, especially as a vegetarian, you have a good selection of different things here My personal recommendation is to try one of the homemade lemonades - they are a must every time I'm there!

We once had the vegetarian banh mi and a chicken curry. Everything was made fresh and was really delicious. I can really only recommend it. We will come back more often

Food is good, the banh mi are tasty but not exceptional. The dumplings are so average and way too expensive for the price.

I think I was the first customer of the day, had a rice bowl with chicken and the chicken was so dry it must have been leftover from yesterday. Would not go back.

Pretty much the shoddiest service I've ever experienced. The order was placed and money was debited. Delivery didn't arrive. When asked, they said there was no order under the name and order number and they hung up. The next call was simply hung up when the name was mentioned.

Cafe is cozy and the food is also tasty. The price is also reasonable in my opinion

I was a bit confused with the self service like whether we should order right away at the cashier or take the menu bring to the table and come back to order later. Then when the drinks are ready, but the bell was not on, I was not sure if I should take the drink. Highly recommend the restaurant staff to explain to customers when they enter. Otherwise, food was good, and decor was cozy and Vietnamese-like.

It’s a self service place so take the menu by yourself and order food at the cashier. They hand over the alarm bell to you and the bell will ring when the food is ready to be picked up. You go to the counter to get your food to bring it to your own table. The food is tasty. I always have bao burger and grilled banana with honey as dessert. They always prepare food really quickly so I never had to wait for so long.

The place is super nice to relax. Don't forget to wait at the checkout for the letter and to be informed if there is still space available. Don't expect them to bring you your food, please leave your plate in front, things no one knew 😂

I've been coming for many years and it's always so incredibly tasty. Fresh and fast. The staff is friendly and helpful. I hope the prices stay as they are.... Here's to many more delicious years. :)

Despite asking, the tables were neither cleared nor wiped down, so we took care of that ourselves. In addition, the gentleman at the counter was extremely unfriendly, which was expressed, among other things, by accusing me of not paying for the drink that I had paid for with a card 30 minutes earlier. Despite showing the amount debited to my account several times (which he didn't seem to care about), he repeatedly yelled at me that the transaction at his cash register could not be completed. While around 10 people were waiting at the counter and he wouldn't let me go because of €2.90 (which I had paid!), my companion, who had also bought water separately, spoke up with the objection that she had paid in cash However, he had originally specified payment by card (and of course the process could not be completed!!). There was no apology for his(!) mistake and this outrageous, anything but customer-friendly behavior. I have to say that I was really afraid of the man, overall it was a really subpar experience in terms of service and I will avoid the store in the future.

Very puristic but comfortably furnished restaurant with friendly staff. The food tasted very tasty and there was a good selection. There are many different dishes with meat, but also some vegetarian dishes. I would love to come back :)

This place is for sure not for any one. I find the food very unpleasant but i am sure that there are many others who find it tasty as the place was full because of this i say it is for certain population.

Bestelle öfters bei CHI Thu Bzw. Esse öfters im Restaurant und kann das nur empfehlen. Die Gerichte werden immer frisch zubereitet. Lieferung geht auch schnell.

Great little Vietnamese spot in the heart of Schwabing, Muenchen. The Pho is very good and the seating feels like you are in Ho Che Mihn city. They have a full Vietnamese menu and a great selection of sides and appetizers.

Food is amazing. I got the pho and it tastes super good. However, they don’t clean the table and the dishes from the previous customer stayed on my table until I finish my food. Maybe the staff must pay more attention with the cleanness. But I can’t complain with the food 😃

Super leckeres Essen, keine Frage! Aber Service super unfreundliche und ignorant. Laden dreckig und krasse Fliegenproblem, sitzen überall an den Wänden, Hockern. Toiletten stinken bis nach draußen. Hygiene echt schlimm.

Sono stata a cena in una dei ristoranti di questa catena con degli amici (quello a Sendlinger Tor). Posto molto piccolo e alla mano, luci soffuse e ai tavoli si sta stretti su panche e sgabelli, a me piace un ambiente intimo di questo tipo ma capisco che non sia ideale per tutti. Non si può prenotare e non provate a chiamare perché parlano zero inglese. Quando arrivi ti siedi al tavolo e poi vai in coda alla cassa per ordinare quello che vuoi, quando è pronto lo ritiri e te lo porti al tavolo. Io ho provato una zuppa con noodles di riso pollo germogli di soia ed altre erbe/verdure, Pho Ga. Era molto buona e saporita, porzione giusta, abbondante ma non eccessiva. Non sono riuscita a finirlo perché alcune delle erbe avevano un sapore molto forte - immaginate mangiare così delle foglie di menta, aiuto - e quindi sono dovuta stare attenta, ma era molto buono e ci tornerei di sicuro. Da bere ho preso un te freddo dolce con lychee e semi di chia. Molto dolce ma a me è piaciuto davvero, bilancia bene la zuppa calda speziata. In allegato trovate le foto con i prezzi. Non essendoci servizio al tavolo non c’è coperto/mancia obbligatoria.

Food, service and atmosphere were all on point. Good quality of food with great taste, super fast and friendly service and atmosphere felt like an asian local shop. I highly recommend it if you are close to Sendlinger Tor in Munich!

I have ordered food 15-20 times in 3-4 years. My favorite Bun used to have really delicious sauce. About a year ago it changed, it doesnt taste anything anymore. Today was the biggest disappointment. I took home vegetarian Bun, but realized at home that there was pork in the spring rolls. Was too tired to go back, just threw everything away and can't eat there anymore.

Not exactly what I expected. The main dish was good. The sour spicy soup was not to my taste. I read many comments about decoration but everything still surprised me. This place is more Vietnam than everywhere in Germany that I’ve known. Most of the guests don't know about self-service and waste time waiting or forget to bring the dishes back to the counter.
