The service was amazing! It was my birthday and they made it very special!

To be honest, I was expecting the Knöchel directory here, but I guess I haven't been to Munich in too long... Okay, Indian is a completely different culinary genre now, but I was pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, there was a fairly large selection, including vegetarian options, and the prices were quite reasonable despite the location. Definitely recommend it!

Every trip has that one unexpected gem — the place you find by chance that ends up becoming a core memory. For our family (visiting from San Diego), Chandani Chowk in Munich was exactly that. After a full day of exploring, we were simply hoping for a good meal, ideally something flavorful, cozy, and maybe even something our 8-year-old (famously picky) would give a chance. We walked into Chandani Chowk not knowing what to expect… and ended up finding one of the best meals of our entire trip. The vibe was warm and buzzing, with the kind of atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at home. The service was thoughtful and friendly, always there when you needed something, but never hovering. Now, the food. Let’s just say: WOW. Every dish on the table held its own, from the creamy butter chicken to the smoky dal to the perfectly crisp naan. And here’s the kicker, our 8-year-old tried Indian food for the first time ever ... and loved it. He ate more than we expected and asked if we could go back. Which we did, on our very last night in Munich. This isn’t a paid review — just one family from San Diego who found a place that turned dinner into something truly memorable. The service is exceptionally friendly and attentive; you feel warmly welcomed and appreciated! The atmosphere is very cozy with a real connection to India, mythology, and spirituality—an absolute must for me! And beautiful, calming music! The food, everything (and I've tried countless vegetarian dishes!) is fantastic—full of flavor and served hot on a small stove! I find it very, very sad that the credits are being deducted because of a mother with children, and therefore only one star! So please give it 5.0! Thank you 🙏❣️🕉️

We had dinner there. It's relatively centrally located, and parking nearby is difficult, and parking is paid. We had a reservation at 8:00 PM and got a table quickly. The drinks arrived immediately, and the appetizer also arrived after 10-15 minutes. The main course, however, took longer. And we found the chicken masala to be a very small portion. Tandoori was delicious and came with vegetables. Overall, the food was good, the portion was relatively small, but in the end, we satisfied our hunger. Thank you

I came here during a vacation/work trip, and this Indian restaurant made me feel right at home. The food was authentic and comforting—just what I needed after a long day. It was always our favorite restaurant, but unfortunately, they've been cutting corners for the past few weeks. Portions are being reduced; if you order more rice, you only get half the amount. We used to always get extra chili sauce, but they don't offer that anymore. It's a shame, because the restaurant and the food are actually very good.

The worst Indian restaurant I have ever eaten in. The chicken is not cooked well. The soup is not good. The side dishes are full of smoke. The biryani are all bad. There is no cleanliness at all.

I am a little surprised at the 5star reviews of this resturant. The food is average and service is below average. We were there with some friends and I was totally disappointed. The location is pretty good, central and the ambience is also nice but besides this the main points food and service is not upto the mark at all. The service guys firstly did not have any idea about the booking and on asking the reply was different shifts. Well that got sorted out and we had our seats. From the minute they came for the order, I heard them rushing us with the order. Please order quickly is the line I heard a good 10times which was pretty weird because the restaurant was pretty much empty. I had to explain and order like thrice to both the waiters there before we actually got our food correct, the spices are a joke even for adult dishes and that too after asking please make it a little spicy. For every little extra, they have charged money for e.g. for the kids I ordered extra portion spicy sauce, which I had to explain 10times before they understood what is needed and that too the waiter said, that would be extra. Its weird the kind of behaviour they have, mentioning extra is ok but not for every thing one orders, it feels like they are checking whether you can afford to have that extra or not!!!! I have been to many restaurants and have never experienced this kind of behaviour, the people put in extra efforts for atleast kid dishes. The taste of their dishes and the service of their personnel does not justify the kind of prices charged!! First and last time for me for sure.

I ate here Tuesday April 22nd. I was alone. Very friendly welcome in an almost empty restaurant. I ordered Chicken Jalfrezi with rice and naan. It tasted great, spicy, well-seasoned curry with fresh naan. What I must mention is that the amount of chicken was very small. That has to be better. Therefore price too high. Hence 4 stars.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants! I really order here regularly. Particularly noteworthy is the extremely friendly and open-minded service. Special requests such as vegetables instead of meat are gladly accepted and implemented without any problems. The food tastes delicious every time! :) Absolute recommendation!

My review does not refer to the food, but unfortunately to the neighborly behavior of this restaurant. Today at 5:30 a.m. the entire block was woken up because the operators probably wanted to repair their extractor pipe with the Flex - at 5:30 a.m.??? Likewise the extremely loud garbage disposals every night at 2 a.m.... 😔 Please please pay attention to the neighborhood 🙏🏼

The food was delicious and arrived very quickly. The atmosphere was nice (the seating was a bit cramped). The rice arrived rather cold on the plates. The thali (81 + 82) came with: chicken tikka masala, lamb, palak paneer, dal makhani, veggie sabji, chana masala... basically the basics of Indian cuisine with few surprises.

A cozy and high-quality restaurant to linger. The dishes are excellent. Particularly worth mentioning are the Thalis that are offered. The sauces are finely tuned and high-quality rice is used. The waiters are very friendly and the atmosphere is cozy and elegant. The restaurant is located in a lively area and invites you to take a walk along the Isar before or after your meal. Very attentive staff, we got a little goodbye drink on the house at the end and the waiter split it to alcoholic/non-alcoholic based on what everyone drank through the evening. We had a great time, thank you!

We went here for dinner with friends. We ordered various dishes including 2 appetizers. Personally, I wasn't crazy about the food, in fact I had a French revolution in my stomach after this dinner. The most unpleasant moment of the evening was during the tasting of the appetizers. I found 2 black hairs on my portion, I'm light brown and I don't lose hair, luckily. The waiter brought it back and made another one. I ask if it is possible to have some tap water and I am denied. The sink apparently doesn't exist in their area... after the shame of the hair, there is also this one where water is denied if not bought. Obviously the starter is calculated at the time of the bill. Conclusion: Mediocre food, nice, very central location, friendly service but they should have more attention towards customers.

Good location and service but food was bad. Hyderabadi biryani was nowhere close to the authentic dish. They simply mixed a pre-made base with basmati rice and threw in some bland mutton pieces and called it biryani 🤦 Please represent our cuisine better.

North Indian restaurant in Punjab / medium food and chicken biryani. We believe that it has been cooked for a while and is heated and served because the chicken is cold and the rice is hot and the handling is good and the best is the vegetable salad with bread and the price is very expensive

Always a good address! The team is friendly, attentive and quick. The menu is extensive and offers options for every taste, including vegan dishes. The kitchen cooks fresh and delicious food; Many expats also eat here. The interior is cozy; The former inn has been very successfully renovated and decorated with beautiful, but subtle colors. Tip: The Tandoori Kesri Chicken is fantastic, the Handi Chicken is also very good (but not “very spicy”), the eggplant bharta is super tasty and those who choose thali dishes can put together their own favorite dishes. Only the roti wasn't really convincing so far, but it's absolutely solid.

Went for lunch and chose from the main menu. As a plus, I was given a pappadum, a small dessert and a lovely chai. The garlic soup was very average, whereas the Handi Chicken was excellent and as spicy as promised (there was no need to ask for more). I will go back and try the Mittagskarte and see if this is a place to come to regularly. Plenty of shaded outdoor seating, good service.

Lunch offer includes vegan dishes. They are not listed on the lunch menu, but a selection of the regular vegan dishes was possible. So a large selection for a vegan lunch. The service was extremely attentive! As soon as our plate of rice came to an end, we were handed a new, full one. The food and drink were brought very quickly. The prices are more than reasonable for the quality of the food. The tastiest Indian food I've had so far. The interior was also harmonious and inviting. I can highly recommend the store to everyone. Unfortunately I was only in the city as a tourist. However, I will visit this restaurant again if I end up in Munich again.

Went to Munich for an extended weekend. Chandani Chowk restaurant was just 2 minutes walk from the hotel. Typical Punjabi staff and food in Germany was just fascinating. While being in Munich City for a week, this place was my lunch and dinner place 3 times. The portions are good, the taste is good,and the service is fast. Walking distance from rosenheimer platz tram station, this place remains crowded. But you can have a seat once you are ther.
