Café-Restaurant ANNO 1900 in Weimar

Very nice atmosphere, cozy and quiet. The service was friendly, courteous, attentive. I enjoyed great wine and my favorite coffee is here 😊 I will definitely crown my next visit to Weimar with a stop here again.

Cozy, food is delicious. BUT the waiter was incredibly stressful. At first he was overly friendly, spoke in an unpleasantly pompous manner and then, when we were clearing away, he told us that we shouldn't put the plates together instead of asking if we wanted anything else. That was just unpleasant.

Consistently 5* because everything (always) fits: pleasant atmosphere, excellent hosts, delicious food... Everything is very stylish and recommended.

Great historical ambience, nice service, interesting menu. Reservation recommended. We'll be back!

Wir bekamen einen Tisch, obgleich wir nicht reserviert hatten. Gut, wir sollten dann rechtzeitig zur Reservierung fertig sein, was aufgrund der Zeitspanne von 2,5 Stunden einfach sein würde. Der Service war ok, etwas flapsig, aber mit gutem Humor. Getränke waren ebenfalls Ok, man sitzt in einem angenehmen, nicht zu großen Raum, der Lärmpegel ist erträglich (und dass einige Menschen immer eine solche Lautstärke bevorzugen, dass viele etwas von ihrer Konversation haben, geht nicht auf das Konto des Restaurants.) Zu den Gerichten: ein sehr schöner Gruß aus der Küche war vielversprechend, auch die Vorspeisen (Salat und eine Steinpilzcremebrulee) hielten, was die Titel versprachen.Die Hauptgerichte waren dann ein wenig enttäuschend, geschmacklich und von der Menge. Da fehlte die Raffinesse, die man bei den jeweiligen Preisen hätte erwarten dürfen. Fazit: etwas overpriced.

Weimar ist immer ein Besuch wert. Das „Anno 1900“ ist der perfekte Ort für den genussvollen Abschluss in bester Atmosphäre mit edel zubereiteten Speisen, erfrischenden Getränken in sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtetem Ambiente und bei ausgezeichnetem Service. Auch für die Stärkung zwischendurch im lauschigen kleinen Freisitz unter schattenspendenden Bäumen ist das Angebot an Kuchen oder Desserts klein, fein und außergewöhnlich. Das Restaurant passt zu Weimar und macht ein bisschen süchtig….

The name 1900 is fully justified. Very nice atmosphere from earlier times, but the service surpasses everything. Careful, fast, fully focused on individual guest care. In the photo you can see the speed of the guest service...!!! You have to get a photo like that first!!!

Nice staff, I didn't eat anything, I just had something to drink but it was pretty good.

I gave the fall dinner to my husband for his birthday, what can I say, it was the best thing we've ever eaten. The service team was great, considerate, friendly and very professional. And also a big thank you to the kitchen team. 5 stars are actually not enough, we would have liked to have given even more. Thank you for the lovely evening.

We were there for our 40th wedding anniversary in October 2024 and were not disappointed. Wonderful ambience, delicious cuisine, modern and good-tasting dishes, friendly and nice staff, in short: everything is perfect. Highly recommended.

Very unfriendly and inflexible staff

a great evening. Excellent, fine cuisine (in our case a surprising, aromatic crème brulée of porcini mushrooms (!) and the wonderfully tasty and juicy ostrich fillet with pumpkin), the service attentive, cultivated and humorous, and in a very individual feel-good atmosphere. Very good value for money for a menu with very suitable leg recommendations - and again: a big compliment to the perfect, polite and wonderfully characterful service!!

Man sollte sich tunlichst und rasch entschuldigen wenn man das Platzierungs-Schild am Eingang übersieht, Der männliche Kellner ist sehr nett kann aber die angespannte Atmosphäre nicht entkrampfen. Vorspeise sehr einfach/ fade,Fleisch und Klöße des Hauptgerichtes zerkocht. Wir kommen nicht so schnell wieder. Schade.

A wonderful atmosphere, very good food and really exceptionally good service. The menu could be a little bit more extensive. All in all, we felt very comfortable and spent a lovely evening at ANNO 1900.

It is an extraordinary place. The ambience is very neat and extravagant, like the waiter who served us that day. The coffee was great and the tiramisu of the week was also very tasty. Of course it has its price.

A very good choice, we were on a cultural trip in Weimar. We came across this restaurant while looking for a vegan dish. The two kinds of pepper soup and the mango tiramisu were the bomb, as were the pike perch and the vegan fussili. Service and cuisine etc. Perfect & friendly as is the ambience. We had pre-ordered to be on the safe side. That was necessary because the restaurant was well attended. Small but nice. Keep it up, thank you for the lovely evening.

I hit the jackpot with this restaurant. Not only were the food and drinks wonderful, the service was also extremely friendly. I sat wonderfully softly on the comfortable armchair, enjoyed the beautiful ambience and had a good time. Thanks.

We were guests today for a small evening meal and are impressed. The two waiters were extremely courteous and friendly and made you feel very welcome. Not to mention the food. You could tell that there was heart in the preparation. If we are in Weimar again, we will stop by again. Highly recommended ☺️

Ik heb hier met zoonlief het zomermenu met wijnarrangement genomen. Heerlijk gegeten en gedronken. Vriendelijke bediening, de prijs waard! We zaten binnen, maar ook buiten is er een prachtig terras, een mooie plek in Weimar.

We were looking for a quiet place to relax after visiting the Bauhaus exhibition and found a real gem here. We received a very friendly welcome and were thrilled with the cuisine. Summer bowl and crème brûlée were excellent, the Bacchus was well chilled. And the service was extremely friendly and attentive. We can definitely recommend this restaurant.

Unfortunately, my visit to Café Anno 1900 was anything but pleasant. When I asked for a coffee to go this morning, I was immediately rudely and loudly informed that they didn't offer coffee to go for ecological reasons. That in itself is understandable and a good thing, but the tone and way in which the employee spoke to me was completely inappropriate. I wanted to kindly point out the Recup system, which is widespread in Berlin and offers a sustainable alternative. But before I could even finish, I was interrupted again and given another loud sermon. When I was finally able to explain what Recup was, I was snidely told that they didn't have room for it and that I should bring my own cup. How was I supposed to know that? A simple, friendly explanation would have been enough, such as: “I'm sorry, for environmental reasons we don't offer take-away coffee, and unfortunately we don't have space for reusable cups either. You are welcome to bring your own mug next time so we can make you a coffee to go. Or enjoy your coffee with us on the terrace.” I also find it inconsistent that oat milk is offered here at a surcharge, even though it is often cheaper to produce than organic milk. Which means that organic milk is probably not used here either. Increasing profits seems to be more important here than sustainability. Meat on the menu also contradicts the promoted sustainability. My conclusion: unfriendly service and questionable attitude towards real sustainability.

The staff rejected us in the most unfriendly way!

Friendly waiters, good food, but the price-performance ratio was rather poor. 2 small zander fillets on celery mashed potatoes cost €32.00 and if you only want salad instead of the puree, a so-called "side dish change" is charged, which I find a cheek. So my dish with salad and the small fish fillets cost €34.50 €!!!!!!The waiter didn't point this out to me either... At such a price level, a small change should certainly be possible and you should consider whether you are likely to alienate your customers with such quibbles. We won't go there anymore because the good impression was ruined, so to speak. RUDE

Vorab per Telefon reserviert und war für einen Samstagabend die richtige Idee. Schöner Tisch im Freien, superfreundlicher Empfang und unterhaltende Präsentation der Speisekarte und Getränke vom Chef. Und - Leuteleueteleute - Speisen wirklich klasse (Fisch, Strauß), Vorspeise außergewöhnlich (Ziegenkäse Zitrone) und Dessert zum Niederknien (Brüllercreme mit weiteren Gaumenfreuden). Dazu angenehme Auswahl an Weinen, auch offen. Wunderschöner, lauschiger Platz bei entsprechender Sommertemperatur, innen aber per Augenschein auch wunderbar. Echte Empfehlung für ein sehr gepflegtes Dinieren, vielleicht nach einem Konzert, um einen schönen Tag ausklingen zu lassen.

We went to the restaurant yesterday and the waiter was super rude!!! We asked him if there are any tables we can sit at and he told us "Do you see any???" in a very aggressive tone and left! That is not the way one treats guests! Many tables were actually free inside! I don't know why he was that rude and aggressive but I hope management does something about this kind of behaviour!!!!!

Refined cuisine, great wines at fair prices! We were surprised and delighted!

First of all, the service at Anno speaks for itself. Very courteous staff who know exactly what they are doing. The ambience is undisputed. When the food comes to the table, the whole thing is rounded off. Imaginative compositions beautifully presented. It was a blessing. I'd love to come back.

In June we visited Weimar with six people for my mother-in-law's 85th birthday and had dinner at Anno 1900. We say thank you for a very special evening! Different dishes and we were all very satisfied. We were served very courteously and felt really comfortable. The ambience is magical! On our next visit to Weimar we will definitely plan an evening at Anno 1900 again. The restaurant stands out from the mainstream!

Kurzfristig bekamen wir einen Tisch im Anno 1900 (im Hotel Elefant sagte man uns erst beim Check-In, dass unsere Essenbuchung am Abend im Hause nicht geht da geschlossen…) - aber was für eine nette Überraschung am Ende: im Anno 1900 aßen wir nicht nur sehr gut - das spezielle Weinangebot (10 Jahre gereifte Grosse Lage) und vor allem der super nette Chef machten uns einen ganz tollen Abend. Danke!

Very courteous service, food tasted very good...

Vi spiste aftensmad her efter forudgående bordbestilling, og fik et bord udenfor under træerne i sommeraftenen. Flink og venlig modtagelse, og hele vejen igennem flinke, høflige og humoristiske tjenere. Vi startede med en aperitif og en lille hilsen fra køkkenet. Vi bestilte hhv. kalvefilet og penne med sukkerærter og asparges. Retterne var fint anrettede, veltillavede og smagsfulde. Vi sluttede af med en citron-tiramisu med skovbær til deling. Alt sammen fuldstændig i orden og lækkert. Rødvinen var desværre for varm, og derfor kan vi ikke give maks point. Men vi anbefaler restauranten for mad, betjening og beliggenhed.

It's nice inside, but there are dead plants in pots, dirty umbrellas and tables everywhere on the terrace. No flair, really bad. Rest great.

I was in Weimar for a sunny day trip in July and was completely thrilled, especially by the restaurant - Cafe ANNO 1900. By chance, I came across the enchanting, historic restaurant that has existed for almost 145 years, the former winter garden of what was then the Hotel Chemnitlus, in the immediate vicinity Found Goetheplatz. The guest room is furnished with great attention to detail with selected antiques. Outside, the guest sits under the old trees in the cozy garden or on the side under the old plane trees. In the afternoon I had a very tasty Riesling in the garden and a perfect cappuccino with homemade apple cake with almond crumble. After this enjoyment, I spontaneously reserved a table for dinner. Not only in the afternoon but also in the evening I was warmly welcomed and served like a long-time regular guest. After a very tasty selection of bread with homemade spread and a creation of oil, I had an excellent Thuringian wild herb salad with pink berry vinaigrette & parmesan as a starter, a fried duck breast on spaghetti with truffle cream, rocket & parmesan as my main course and finally a lime cream -Bülee with rum raisin ice cream & blueberry compote. I was not only impressed by the excellent service, the ambience and the very tasty food and wine. The restaurant ANNO 1900 is an institution in Weimar and a MUST for every stay in the city. I can wholeheartedly recommend the restaurant and would like to thank you again for the courteous and exceptionally good service as well as the lovely day in Weimar. I felt very comfortable and will definitely come back - many thanks to the entire team.

Of the restaurants we visited in Weimar, we liked Anno 1900 the best. The small building (former winter garden) and the guest room are worth seeing alone. We particularly found the starters original and excellent. The menu had something to suit every taste (including many vegetarian options). The price is somewhat higher. (pasta dishes 18-19€) The service was friendly and professional. Only when the number of guests rose quickly in the evening did we have to wait a little longer until it was cleared away. Overall, a very nice evening in an interesting atmosphere with very good food. We would come back at any time.

The food in the restaurant completely restored us. After a day in Weimar we were a bit exhausted and annoyed. At first the female waitresses didn't look at our backsides, but after we made it clear that we wanted the full program, we were served very well by a professional waiter. Both the wine and the food were excellent. It wasn't enough for the full Michellin score, the duck breast was still a bit too firm, but the quality of the food was really exquisite. It was the same with the waiter, who I initially thought was a slob, but then he really did a fantastic job. But here too, unfortunately, a tiny point deduction. After we had the food, one of us had no cutlery, but the very nice guy, who obviously does his job with love, mastered this situation with flying colors. All in all, a very successful meal from which we got up in a good mood, well fortified and satisfied. It wasn't cheap, but I think the price is completely appropriate for the quality. If only you could eat so well in all restaurants!

Nice welcome, quick-witted, friendly and personable waitress, the food was a delight, excellent wine recommendations, reasonable prices.

Location is really good, but the outdoor seating is rather uncomfortable for a longer stay and difficult if you want to get up. The changing menu is great, tastes good and the presentation is attractive. But the portions are not harmonious in terms of value for money (€4-5 too expensive). Veal liver with mashed potatoes €29? Duck breast with pasta €34? Come on! Service friendly & suitable for this location. Recommendation goes out because everyone can and should decide for themselves.

Excellent meal with some very different options. The goats cheese and chive tiramisu was an excellent starter. The venue is very pleasant with helpful waiting staff who were very tolerant of my broken German but stepped in to help in fluent English when I was struggling

May 2024 for the first time in Anno 1900: if you enjoy first-class professional service (staff) and good cuisine, this is the right place for you. Small (plus) seasonal menu with creative ideas (asparagus crème brulée with rocket salad and peppered strawberries - gigantic!), handcrafted implementation at reasonable prices - that's fun! Interior with atmosphere, outside like an oasis under the trees - close to the old town and yet relaxing. Thank you!!

Very cocky waiter who likes to lecture his guests. Overpriced food for below average quality. Prices for drinks were OK. Ambience very nice.

We had lunch there and: Wow, just wow - they treated us so charmingly, funny and courteously, I haven't experienced that in a long time. The food was great and we sat outside in the green with a great view of the cute building that houses the restaurant. Any time again and absolute recommendation!

Staff really wanted us to sit outside, even though we clearly signaled that it was too cold for us outside and everything inside was empty anyway

The location of the cafe is very cozy with the local trees and not too warm either. The service is very good, the waiter is very accommodating and polite. Coffee and cake (homemade) were very tasty and also affordable. I would be happy to come back to eat here.

The waitress was incredibly unfriendly and discriminated against / ridiculed me and my friends because of our age. We paid our €3 bill in cash and were then insulted by her, saying that this was an impertinence. I told her that coins were also money, to which she laughed arrogantly and pointed out that it wasn't polite. She then gave me my €1 change back in 5 cent pieces. never again

A wonderful experience! There were two of us and we were in a hurry and received a comfortable table that had already been reserved. The staff is courteous, on the ball and not at a loss for a quick comment or a suitable recommendation. You can feel the dedication to gastronomy! There was soup and cake (had to be done quickly) as well as coffee and tea (a new variety was recommended). Everything harmonious & full-bodied. Big praise, we really liked it!

Everything was very cozy and great. There's no other way to say that. The food was very tasty, the service was very good and the atmosphere was also very nice. A small deduction for the fact that the waitress forgot about us and - what a shame. When we wanted to leave after 20 minutes because our drinks weren't served, they remembered us again. Afterwards everything went smoothly. Another deduction for the price-performance ratio for the food. The food was tasty but, in our opinion, €2-3 per dish too expensive. Pasta dishes for €21.50 and a small beetroot salad for €12.50. 0.4 l Radeberger Pils - €4.50. We can highly recommend the restaurant.

Went for lunch on (Easter) Sunday in Anno 1900 and sat outside. The ambience is very stylish, which is complemented by the excellent service team. We were well looked after throughout our entire stay. The food (for me there was the very good braised ox cheeks...there are also vegetarian options) was absolutely excellent. Highly Recommended.

Noodles and ox cheeks were overcooked. Not acceptable for the price level.

Wonderful little bistro-like restaurant (and also café) on the edge of the old town. Stylish turn-of-the-century ambience, fine cuisine of excellent quality. Prices are also high, but overall reasonable in terms of the overall impression. I would particularly like to highlight the very courteous, eloquent, personally approachable staff. I'm not sure if I enjoyed the food or the conversations with the staff more. Ultimately it doesn't matter, for me as a guest in Weimar it was a completely successful evening. Absolutely recommended.

Nice cafe in a very good location. Listed on Google Maps under the attribute “gluten-free”. Unfortunately there is no gluten-free cake there. That doesn't fit the description.

The location and ambience are very nice, the wine we ordered with the meal was very good. However, my pasta had a sauce that was clearly convenience. My companion's ostrich fillet was very good, but unfortunately the mousse au chocolat was not. What bothered me most was the very affected and know-it-all service. A lot of fuss for mediocre food.

A very nice cafe and restaurant. You feel more than welcome. Very good service and a great selection of food at very fair prices. The quality of the food is very good. We got there shortly after 1 p.m. and were immediately given a nice, comfortable place. In the evening I advise everyone to make a reservation as it is fully booked.
