We had such a great experience. It's like stepping into a completely different world in terms of service. Here, service is truly a way of life. And the ambiance is lovely too. From the outside, it reminded me of Paris 😁 Plus, the best crème brûlée I've ever had!

The ambiance and the food are unbeatable; even though I actively looked for flaws, I didn't find any. I was particularly impressed by the dessert: a light and airy vanilla tiramisu with homemade wild berry compote. Kudos to the team.

Highly recommended for excellent food or, later, for a stylish nightcap cocktail. Top-notch food and truly fantastic service from the two gentlemen in the cozy dining room. Our dog was also welcome, but can also be well-behaved. The noise level is very pleasant, allowing for a reasonable conversation. Be sure to make a reservation if you want to come before 9 p.m. After that, you can also drop in spontaneously. We'll definitely be back on our next visit to Weimar!

Perhaps Goethe would describe the waiter we met like this: "A man of such a complacent disposition, whose vanity clouds his mind and whose tongue beats faster than his heart ever feels; he strides through the world with puffed-up pride, as if heaven were obligated to serve him – but in truth, only the emptiness within himself makes the noise."

Absolutely unfriendly, arrogant and preachy waiter who ruined our stay in this lovely restaurant.

I was there last Saturday, and one thing I noticed right away: they love to serve food. The menu is the perfect size for me; there's a good selection but it's not overwhelming; it's actually small but very fine. The dishes were creative but down-to-earth, with absolute recognition. If you can't find a dish on the menu due to intolerances, you can create something custom-made. The service and kitchen were wonderful! The wait staff were very friendly, accommodating, and extremely personable; they included a few small chats, which were a lot of fun. I left with a smile, and if my journey takes me back to Weimar, I'd love to come back! A special shout-out to the waiter with the great mustache, what a brilliant guy! :D

Sometimes everything just works. The wine, a surprisingly spicy Sauvignon (a box of it is on its way home), the appetizer and main course, the delicious dessert (especially the tiramisu), the truly excellent and warm service (my compliments to the maître d'), the atmosphere outdoors under the trees with both sun and shade, and later in the evening also indoors at the table, all lead from one thing to the next, making the evening seem endless. "Of course... there's no Michelin star or anything, but a wonderful evening and enjoying yourself is perfectly possible without it!" This is the place to be!!!

Oh my gosh, what an experience! The selected dishes were meticulously prepared and full of delicate flavors. Truly wonderful, and we had perhaps the best service we've ever had. Friendly, humorous, unobtrusive, everything perfect!

Exceptionally friendly staff, the food was delicious, and they offer a few vegetarian and vegan options. The house starter is also adapted to suit these needs. The ambiance was truly lovely, right in the heart of the city, yet still in a quiet location.

Rarely bad service. Stopped there after a concert around 10 p.m. Was seated in a dim corner without a word. The server spilled the glass of white wine all over my pants when she placed it down. She indirectly reprimanded me for leaving my phone on the table and not seeing it. A new glass was placed down without a word. When I asked if they could consider brightening up the corner a bit, I was snapped at and told to ask the manager. She would certainly appreciate it if they drilled a hole in the historic ceiling to install a new light. No concession from the restaurant or expression of regret. After receiving the money, the server left without a word. Probably still angry that there was no tip. It could definitely be better.

The food was outstanding, but the service was even more outstanding. Liliane is a true asset to the restaurant. Her professionalism and warmth make the visit a special experience.

Very disappointed. I was expecting something different from the positive reviews here – the ambiance was nice, but you couldn't order what was on the menu. They told me you could only have a different cake (one that wasn't on the menu) because it had to be used up first before they made the other one that was on the menu. That meant I had to order two slices of the cake I didn't want before I could get what I wanted. And at really exorbitant prices (especially for the drinks). A snobby place that doesn't live up to its promise.

We dropped by spontaneously without a reservation. The waiter still found a nice seat for us. The food was excellent. The service was attentive and friendly. We had a very pleasant evening and a wonderful end to our visit to Weimar. We can highly recommend Anno 1900.

A lovely, lovely evening. It was still quite early in the evening, we arrived without a reservation, and were greeted with a warm welcome. The table right by the entrance was great; the two of us were comfortable sitting next to each other on the small bench for an aperitif and between courses. The food and wine were truly delicious. And just before closing time, we were treated to a fantastic Saxony-Anhalt Beerenauslese wine with the cheese appetizers. Contrary to some of the doom and gloom here, the waiter/service was very good. Always there when you needed him, never intrusive or out of place, always keeping an eye on all the tables and guests, as well as the entrance – it was perfect. In the course of ten or eleven years, this was the third time we've stayed there during a visit to Weimar; it was always simply a pleasure to be there.

We've been going to Anno for years. It's always had a lovely atmosphere, and the food is exceptionally creative and made with good ingredients. Unfortunately, the staff and owner are becoming increasingly unfriendly to customers. The portions are getting smaller and the prices are getting higher. We've since found other, better restaurants. It's a real shame!

We were at the restaurant yesterday. I sat down at a table that hadn't been cleared yet. The waiter then asked me if I had a preference for uncleared tables. I found that inappropriate. Whenever a guest stood in the way, he always said, "Make way because he had to work." And for every new guest, he had what I thought was a stupid comment. I also come from the restaurant industry, and I wouldn't have hired such an impersonal waiter in my own company. Of course, the tip was appropriate. He then said that the tip would be divided by 5. That was the icing on the cake. The other staff were very nice. The waffle was delicious.

The waitress was very unfriendly and snippy, and gave us a bad seat even though almost everything was free.

Food ok, service above the food and better than the dishes

The ANNO 1990 is simply wonderful. The atmosphere is simply enchanting, with its historic charm. The dinner was very good.

Here, as a potential guest, the staff will start rudely insulting you even before you're seated. To get a (free) table, the staff would have to be gracious. But they aren't. Obviously, they don't need it and/or would rather take out their deep frustration on the guests. Get well soon!

Great restaurant with Thuringian cuisine and also modern dishes. Rustic furnishings and nice seats! Had the ox cheeks braised in Burgundy with apple red cabbage and 2 dumplings, with a nice Thuringian 🍻 beer Everything was very tasty, not exactly cheap but really good portion and perfectly prepared! Service is friendly and you can also sit outside in the sun ☀. PS: Please note: closed 2 days a week!

Incredibly nice and attentive service. The dishes are creative but not funky, unusual but still classic. The drink recommendation for the pregnant woman was very well received and the wine list was well selected. Unfortunately my stomach was too small for dessert, but the starter and main course were absolutely great. Thanks for the lovely evening!

Estuvimos allí para cenar la semana pasada. La señora es antipática y dura, la comida estaba bien, pero nada especial, precios demasiado altos para lo que es. Así que en resumen no es una buena relación calidad-precio con un servicio por debajo de la media. Una lástima, dada la buena ubicación del lugar. Una cosa está clara, no vamos a volver.

Waren gestern zum Abendessen dort. Die Bedienung war unfreundlich und ruppig, man fragt sich ernsthaft wo die gute Frau ihre Ausbildung gemacht hat, jedenfalls nicht in der Gastronomie. Die Speisen waren zwar ok, jedoch nichts besonderes und erst recht nicht fuer diesen Preis. Hohe Preise, unfreundliche Bedienung, qualitativ mittelmaessige Speisen. Es gibt also keinen Grund noch einmal dort zu speisen.

Yesterday we spontaneously went there for a drink and decided to make a reservation for dinner today. We haven't eaten so well in a very long time. The service was even better. You feel very welcome here and you can feel that the staff really enjoy their job. Such an experience (food + service) is very rare these days. We'll definitely be back! The entire team is super attentive and fabulous!

On Sunday March 16th, 2025 we were able to enjoy this wonderful restaurant for dinner. It was our first visit to Weimar that weekend. As we explored the city, we repeatedly noticed this architectural gem. So we reserved a table for Sunday evening. In the evening when we entered the restaurant we were greeted very friendly by name. Strong. After looking at the menu we decided on the full program. Starter, main course, dessert, complemented by various regional wines to accompany the respective course. I could now get lost in describing each individual dish, but that would go beyond the scope. The Schwerstedter ostrich fillet simply blew me away. Each of the dishes was prepared to perfection, a pure culinary delight. The bartender served the drinks in a friendly and very polite manner, the waiter (later revealed to be the owner) served the food in a special way with charming wordplay. We actually stayed longer than at normal restaurants and enjoyed the later time with recommended drinks. My wife and I would like to once again express our special thanks for this extraordinary experience of good gastronomy. You are a special team in a special place, all the best to you. A beautiful, traditional restaurant with a lovely outdoor terrace, located right on Goetheplatz. The service is also extremely friendly. We only stopped in for a quick drink before our bus departure, but we'd be happy to come back!

Sowohl Speisen alsauch Service waren erstklassisch. Man hat sich gut aufgehoben und wohl gefühlt. Auf Ernährungsgewohnheiten wird hier Rücksicht genommen und es wird darauf eingegangen. Der Besuch ist mehr als empfehlenswert.

I've never been disappointed by this restaurant. They have a good, consistent, and creative menu throughout the year. The service is excellent, and the staff is friendly. The location is fantastic, especially for pedestrians!

We arrived unannounced and unbooked after a long day driving across Europe. We were shown table in the middle of a quite, well run and ideal eating area. The menu was brief but the varied choice was excellent. We were not sure on a starter, so the chef improvised for us. Brilliant. We were extremely happy with our gastronomic evening and would recommend and would return again in future. Thank you...☺️ Addition:- We were back here again for Christmas 2024 and nothing has changed. The service impeccable and the menu although brief gives a excellent variation of choice. A decent Italian red was the perfect partner, and we will return - again..!

ANNO 1900 has a varied history. The food and drinks were good, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. We even got tips on how to roast goose breast. Thank you 👍🤗

The advice is excellent. The recommendations for the starter and the special main course, as well as the matching drinks, combined with the excellent quality of the kitchen, resulted in an enjoyable meal. The spontaneous visit was well worth it. I will definitely be back (when I visit Weimar).

A very nice little restaurant. Four of us went for dinner. The prices are a bit high, but the food and service more than make up for it. All in all, a well-located restaurant in Weimar.

ANNO 1900 brought into the modern age... Thank you for the warm welcome and the wonderful evening that followed. As a couple, we happened upon the Café Restaurant ANNO 1900 during the pre-Christmas season while touring Weimar. In keeping with the inviting ambiance, we received a very friendly welcome and were accompanied both attentively, competently, and charmingly throughout both lunch and the evening. The meal (three courses of our choice) and the excellently recommended wine pairing were exceptionally delicious and harmoniously balanced. My sister and I wanted to celebrate her 60th birthday with a good meal in a stylish setting. The food was wonderful, nothing to criticize, but the service was abysmal. It's best to order everything, including coffee and dessert, at once, because we were completely ignored after the main course was served and had to make ourselves known several times before we could order more wine. No one even thought to ask if we wanted dessert, coffee, or anything else. The waitress walked past us several times without making contact. So we left, shaking our heads a bit. Given the high standards the restaurant claims, the service should be more attentive.

Simply extraordinary. One of the best cafes I've ever visited. The service was impeccable; it felt like a grand hotel. The wine list is amazing, with plenty of explanations for even the most inexperienced. The dessert, the crème brûlée with its melted chocolate cake, was excellent. We'll be back with great pleasure. Cozy, food is delicious. BUT the waiter was incredibly stressful. At first he was overly friendly, spoke in an unpleasantly pompous manner and then, when we were clearing away, he told us that we shouldn't put the plates together instead of asking if we wanted anything else. That was just unpleasant.

Ein wunderschönes Ambiente, sehr freundlicher Service. Das Essen war gut: Die Steinpilzbrulee ein Gedicht, die Schweinebäckchen fielen leider zu sehr auseinander, Thüringer Klöße gut, der Apfelrotkohl spitze. Guter Wein.

Wir bekamen einen Tisch, obgleich wir nicht reserviert hatten. Gut, wir sollten dann rechtzeitig zur Reservierung fertig sein, was aufgrund der Zeitspanne von 2,5 Stunden einfach sein würde. Der Service war ok, etwas flapsig, aber mit gutem Humor. Getränke waren ebenfalls Ok, man sitzt in einem angenehmen, nicht zu großen Raum, der Lärmpegel ist erträglich (und dass einige Menschen immer eine solche Lautstärke bevorzugen, dass viele etwas von ihrer Konversation haben, geht nicht auf das Konto des Restaurants.) Zu den Gerichten: ein sehr schöner Gruß aus der Küche war vielversprechend, auch die Vorspeisen (Salat und eine Steinpilzcremebrulee) hielten, was die Titel versprachen.Die Hauptgerichte waren dann ein wenig enttäuschend, geschmacklich und von der Menge. Da fehlte die Raffinesse, die man bei den jeweiligen Preisen hätte erwarten dürfen. Fazit: etwas overpriced.

Weimar ist immer ein Besuch wert. Das „Anno 1900“ ist der perfekte Ort für den genussvollen Abschluss in bester Atmosphäre mit edel zubereiteten Speisen, erfrischenden Getränken in sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtetem Ambiente und bei ausgezeichnetem Service. Auch für die Stärkung zwischendurch im lauschigen kleinen Freisitz unter schattenspendenden Bäumen ist das Angebot an Kuchen oder Desserts klein, fein und außergewöhnlich. Das Restaurant passt zu Weimar und macht ein bisschen süchtig….

The name 1900 is fully justified. Very nice atmosphere from earlier times, but the service surpasses everything. Careful, fast, fully focused on individual guest care. In the photo you can see the speed of the guest service...!!! You have to get a photo like that first!!!

I gave the fall dinner to my husband for his birthday, what can I say, it was the best thing we've ever eaten. The service team was great, considerate, friendly and very professional. And also a big thank you to the kitchen team. 5 stars are actually not enough, we would have liked to have given even more. Thank you for the lovely evening.

We were there for our 40th wedding anniversary in October 2024 and were not disappointed. Wonderful ambience, delicious cuisine, modern and good-tasting dishes, friendly and nice staff, in short: everything is perfect. Highly recommended.

Excellent, fine cuisine (in our case a surprising, aromatic crème brulée of porcini mushrooms (!) and the wonderfully tasty and juicy ostrich fillet with pumpkin), the service attentive, cultivated and humorous, and in a very individual feel-good atmosphere. Very good value for money for a menu with very suitable leg recommendations - and again: a big compliment to the perfect, polite and wonderfully characterful service!!

Man sollte sich tunlichst und rasch entschuldigen wenn man das Platzierungs-Schild am Eingang übersieht, Der männliche Kellner ist sehr nett kann aber die angespannte Atmosphäre nicht entkrampfen. Vorspeise sehr einfach/ fade,Fleisch und Klöße des Hauptgerichtes zerkocht. Wir kommen nicht so schnell wieder. Schade.

A wonderful atmosphere, very good food and really exceptionally good service. The menu could be a little bit more extensive. All in all, we felt very comfortable and spent a lovely evening at ANNO 1900.

It is an extraordinary place. The ambience is very neat and extravagant, like the waiter who served us that day. The coffee was great and the tiramisu of the week was also very tasty. Of course it has its price.
