We happened upon it by chance and stopped in. The service was very friendly. The food was excellent. We immediately decided to come back the next day. Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed with the food on day two. The fries weren't particularly good, so we lost one star. Nevertheless, we'll gladly stop by next time we're in Weimar.

Nice restaurant with delicious food and very friendly service. We ordered two nightcaps, which were listed on the menu as 2cl each. We were served twice the amount, which of course meant we were charged almost twice. A little warning would have been nice. I felt a bit ripped off.

I wanted to make a reservation for a larger group. According to the website, it's only possible by email for groups of 9 or more (there were more of us). I then sent an email and waited a week for a response before calling again personally. No one knew about it, and they promised to clarify the matter and call me back. I waited another week for a very unprofessional email. In the meantime, I received a reservation with confirmation at another restaurant within two days. Unfortunately, it seemed very unprofessional. Therefore, I can't comment on the food.

We were there on Friday, June 20, 2025, the eve of our silver wedding anniversary. We had reserved a table for 8 p.m. around 6 p.m., which worked out perfectly (!). Conclusion: We were ABSOLUTELY thrilled! It was a truly wonderful evening with a mild summer breeze in the beautifully designed, small backyard beer garden. The rustic interior also immediately conveys the passion of the people who work there. This was also evident in the quality of the food and the truly attentive, friendly service. My wife and I have decided that a visit to/dining at Kartoffelhaus Weimar is an absolute must on our next visit to Weimar! We rarely go to restaurants: I found the pricing to be absolutely reasonable, and I would have certainly dig deeper into my wallet for this experience. We wish the entire Kartoffelhaus team continued joy in their work, always welcoming guests, and a good, financially sound income. Unfortunately, today was very disappointing. The waitress was extremely unfriendly and subtly provocative. Their ability to take criticism really needs to improve. Unfortunately, the ambiance is the only good thing 😒 what a shame. The food itself was great, but they should have checked whether the meat or potatoes could have been left in the pan/pot for a minute or two longer in one place or another.

I went there for dinner with my partner. We were served by a very charming and friendly young man. My partner had the roast with fried potatoes, and I had potatoes with herb curd. The food came very quickly and looked really good, but my partner's roast and/or sauce were so burnt that it was inedible even with the best will in the world. I sent her food back, whereupon a waitress rudely told us that it had to taste like that and that it was just roasted flavors. I'm not a Michelin-starred chef, but there's a difference between burnt/scorched and roasted flavors. The young waiter agreed that it tasted very burnt. Overall, this experience had a negative impact on our date night and unfortunately ruined the evening for us. We will definitely avoid this restaurant in the future.

Absolutely disappointing – never again! I've rarely eaten as badly as I did at this restaurant. I ordered a schnitzel with mushroom sauce and fries – sounds simple, but they really did everything wrong here. The schnitzel was a tough, rubbery patty, completely overcooked and dry. The breading was greasy and soggy, as if the thing had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. The so-called mushroom sauce was a watery broth with a few sad canned mushrooms – tasting somewhere between hospital food and instant powder. The fries were way too thick. Conclusion: Stay away! Anyone who eats here either has no taste or a very strong stomach! The prices are completely unjustified!

Super delicious food on the outskirts of Weimar. A feast for the eyes in a friendly atmosphere. Friendly and attentive service. They even ask you how your steak is cooked. Highly recommended! 😉!

I found the selection of potato dishes for a potato house too little and unfortunately not particularly imaginative either. I expected something more. The service and the ambience (at least in the back seating area) were unfortunately rather average. Overall, unfortunately not particularly 😕 & that with this bar landscape in the mega cultural city.

A hidden restaurant with attentive staff, tasty food, except for the beer, that's not to our taste. A bit remote from the center, but the proximity to St. Jacob's Church makes up for it.

During a visit to Weimar, we didn't spend long looking for an inn with delicious food 😋 If you want to get a taste for original Thuringian dumplings, you've come to the right place! The dumplings were nice and fluffy and the roulades were as they should be. The red cabbage didn't taste quite homemade, but it was still highly recommended! Above all, this shop thrives on its rustic ambience. We got a place in the corner of the house and felt very comfortable. We'll come back next time we visit :)

We were there today and had a wonderful dinner. First of all, it can be said that the name says it all. On the menu you will find delicious potato dishes from soup to dumplings. What I personally really liked is that there is a lot of regional food on the drinks menu. I can also say that I found the service to be extremely friendly and competent. They also had pens and paper available for very young guests to shorten the waiting time. The food was very good and freshly prepared. All in all, I can 100 percent recommend it to you if you fancy well-prepared potato dishes with a regional flair.

Visited the potato house in Weimar for the first time today! 04/05/25 We were very impressed by the ambience. Very warm, cozy and welcoming. The menu is "small" but dishes that you don't eat every day! The service team was very nice, very attentive and quick! The food arrived quicker than expected, looked great and tasted even better! Priced over the top! Highly recommended and not the last visit!

We felt completely at home in the potato house in Weimar! The food was excellent and the atmosphere was simply rustic – cozy and inviting. Particularly noteworthy is the friendly service, which rounded the whole thing off perfectly. We were also very impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant and the good selection of drinks/food. An all-round successful visit that we would be happy to repeat!

We had reserved a table, the waitress was nice and very attentive, but not pushy. The food was very good and sufficient and reasonable for the price-performance ratio. My tip: Spontaneous visitors didn't have the option because the restaurant was full, so be sure to make a reservation, at least on the weekend.

The food is really top. We had a baking dumpling filled with cheese on chill con carne. Super tasty and really something different. The potato dumpling was also filled with mango puree. There was also a scoop of ice cream and cream. (a dream combination) If we are in Weimar again we will come back.

Very good food, nice atmosphere but the service was so unfriendly. When asked where the toilet was, people were upset about how one could ask such a question and that they would prefer to say no to the question of whether they had a toilet. A small, nicely rustic restaurant on a side street in Weimar, which we found by chance. Rather inconspicuous from the outside with a lovingly furnished restaurant and a great, e.g. Currently the beer garden is closed due to the weather. The food is rather rustic, fresh and tasty with a clear menu. It tastes wonderfully homemade. The waiting times are typical for non-convenience cuisine. My wife was particularly impressed by the potato dishes and soups. The landlord is very friendly and strives to offer his guests the best possible service while at the same time supporting his young employees. You noticed a family atmosphere. If we are in Weimar again, we will definitely come back!

Potato dumplings are completely different, but delicious! That's what's on the menu here, among other things. Even better than the food was the very friendly and courteous service from the staff. They deserve 5 stars. Unfortunately the restaurant is not suitable for wheelchair users. All other people with disabilities should actually get along.

Wir waren an einem Freitag Abend bis auf einen weiteren Tisch die einzigen Gäste um kurz nach 20 Uhr . Das hätte uns vielleicht schon bedenklich erscheinen sollen. Das Essen kann man nicht direkt als schlecht bezeichnen, aber gut war es auch nicht. Randvoller Teller mit Gulasch der irgendwie mehr wie Ragout wirkte und ganz dunkel fast schwarz war , warum auch immer 🤷‍♀️ Klöße in Ordnung aber auch nicht grad das Highlight thüringischer Küche. Normalerweise ist die thüringische Küche sehr gut, das war aber absolut kein Beispiel dafür. Service vom Personal her nett. Chef ? eher unfreundlich und etwas herablassend.

This can happen, but should be announced in advance. The tables next to us also seemed tense as the food didn't come for ages. However, it can be a snapshot. Good selection of regional drinks.

If you are looking for real German cuisine, especially Thuringian cuisine, this is the place for you. Were on June 22nd. Eating there for our wedding anniversary. Great service with a nice gesture for us and great food. From potato soup to a salad plate as a starter to beef rollade with dumplings and baked potatoes with cream and salmon to the rump steak, which is simply divine - you actually want to lick the remaining sauce off the plate like you used to at your mother's house. The service responded immediately to your wishes. We are fans and will come back. Thank you for your time with you.

Another restaurant sent us away, no reservation, no space. Call it luck, we call it karma. That's why we ended up in the potato house. A cozy atmosphere, a warm welcome, a small but fine menu. We once ordered the beef roulade with two potato dumplings with red cabbage and a pork neck steak with fried potatoes and onions. Both incredibly tasty, a nice portion size, appetizingly prepared. We both loved this meal. And again and again the attentive service, asking questions and keeping an eye on the glasses. I hope that the owner of this restaurant is aware of the gems he employs in the kitchen and in the service. Thank you for the outstanding food, thank you for the service. An absolute recommendation!

The homemade potato dumplings are a special experience. We come here every time we're on vacation and in the area. Inconspicuous from the outside and easy to miss, but inside it's a real insider tip.

Very cool place with cool food! The portions are for those who are very hungry, so consider adding a “small” salad to the “dumplings con carne”. Might be too much of a good thing considering the quantity.

I haven't eaten so well in a long time, to be honest!!! The potato soup was a dream as a starter and then the delicious schnitzel afterwards! It couldn't be better. Definitely coming back.

You can do that... the food was good, except for the baked potato - which wasn't completely cooked through :( The staff is not particularly friendly & you have the feeling of a kind of "quick processing". The atmosphere is quite loud (small rooms /many tables), as the potato house seems to be popular and well attended on a Saturday evening. I wouldn't necessarily have to go there a second time...
