A very nice restaurant with really good Bavarian food! Very popular with locals. I had a pork schnitzel – fantastic and a generous portion.

Ignorance of Allergies + Rude Waitress The Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancake) here is served with almonds. This wasn't indicated anywhere on the menu. Since we have an almond allergy, we asked the waitress if it contained almonds. When she confirmed this, we explained that we didn't know, as it wasn't mentioned on the menu. The waitress then replied, "We can't smell allergies." An absolutely outrageous response, as allergies can have severe consequences, and EU regulations require the labeling of allergies in the food service industry.

We wanted to stop for a bite to eat after a hike, and a 4.7 rating seemed reasonable. The food varied greatly: the venison goulash was good, the rösti with pork tenderloin and mushrooms wasn't so good, and the pancake soup was very salty. Some pieces of the Kaiserschmarren were excellent, while others were quite soggy. The beer, however, was really good. So, a 4.7 rating is definitely overrated.

As always, absolutely delicious! We stopped by spontaneously for dinner on September 27, 2025, while passing through. At 4 p.m., it was still possible to get a table for four; later, a reservation would be advantageous. Even at that time, the Postkeller was busy. The knuckle of pork and roast pork were very tasty and plentiful. The Waldbauernplatte (forest farmer's plate) was a bit dry, but also very tasty. There was only one server at the time, but he was incredibly friendly. He was in charge of everything: ordering, serving, and taking the money. Fascinating that he was so kind, funny, and accommodating. Respect to the gentleman ;o)

The Postkeller is a lovely, cozy restaurant in Mittenwald. The ambiance is great! The beer was also delicious! Unfortunately, the food was very salty. I had schnitzel, which was tasty, but the fries weren't so good. My partner had a small knuckle of pork. It was really small. Otherwise, it tasted good, though. You have to buy ketchup and other such things separately. The prices are still halfway decent, but I found that a bit cheeky. Our waitress seemed very annoyed. I have no idea if we were just that tiresome or if she was just having a bad day. The explanation, the taking of the order, and the bill were all monosyllabic, and I felt the whole time as if I had done something wrong. (And I've thought about it again and come to the conclusion that we were very polite.) Then I got a little irritated when the tip was a bit sparse. There was no thank you either.

Better than expected. The food was good, flavorful, and the portions were appropriate for a brewery inn. The beer wasn't quite to my taste, but only because I don't particularly like highly carbonated beers with a pronounced hop flavor. The price was a bit too high for a brewery inn. Soup with a main course and a beer was over €30.

We stopped here for lunch while passing through. Unfortunately, a tour group had arrived shortly before, so we waited almost an hour for our meal: roast pork and a forest farmer's plate. The food and drinks (draft lemonade and a raspberry-lemon spritzer) were good. The service could use a bit more structure. Unfortunately, only one server was available to take the cashier's order. So it took a correspondingly long time for us to pay (the tour group was ahead of us).

Beautiful location, excellent cheesecake, and the goulash with dumplings is also a dream. You can tell the cooking and baking here is still done with passion. It's a family business, after all. So, things like that still exist. I always enjoy coming up here by bike.

During our two-week vacation in Mittenwald, we visited four times: two for four people plus a stroller, one for six people and two strollers, and one for two people plus a stroller. We always had a seat, and the drinks and food were always excellent. On busy days, you'll be warned that there might be a wait when ordering food. Overall, a top-notch restaurant in Mittenwald!

The service was superficially friendly. The food, we had a Swiss and a regular sausage salad, was tasty, but the portions were manageable. Card payments not accepted! Since cell reception isn't great (Vodafone), I was asked for the password for the guest Wi-Fi that was set up. I was told they wouldn't give out the password. I then asked what the point of the guest Wi-Fi was if you couldn't use it, and they shrugged.

We had the Postkeller Pfanne (smoked pork knuckle) and the "diet" pork knuckle yesterday, and unfortunately, we were both disappointed. The portion of the Postkeller Pfanne (smoked pork knuckle) was far too small for the high price. Unfortunately, the knuckle was very dry and had very little rind.

We were there last week. Highly recommended, with very friendly staff. Completely satisfied. The large knuckle of pork and the roast pork were delicious 😋 Completely reasonable value for a vacation spot.

We've been coming to Leutasch, Austria, for hiking holidays for four years. The first year we discovered the Postkeller and have been coming every year since to eat "our knuckle of pork." We learned that the owner had changed hands this afternoon while chatting with the super-friendly waitress. The food was, as expected, superb. We both had the "diet knuckle" and coleslaw. I have to say, I think it's very nice to distinguish it from the "men's knuckle" on the menu. I was served Kellerbier, my husband had Märzen, and our dog was given fresh water and even two treats from the friendly waitress. A definite recommendation from us. We always stop by after a hike or, like today, after a nice walk on the Karwendel. The price-performance ratio is great. The food is great. The beer is delicious. The service is fantastic. The ambiance is classic brewery, and we think it's fantastic. What more could you want?

Hello S friends, Passing through the Postkeller today. Brewery meets traditional Bavarian hospitality. We always find smiling, highly attentive, and prompt service. Plus, freshly tapped beer from the in-house brewery and hearty meals from the kitchen! The decor is cozy, rustic, and very clean. My recommendation: the Munich schnitzel. Enjoy trying it! The day before our visit, I wanted to reserve a table for two people. I'd heard a lot of bad things, but wanted to see for myself. So I called, and the only person who answered was, "Yes!" The reservation was declined, saying they could always seat two people. Today, the day after the phone call, the waitress turned me away because a large group showed up unexpectedly. It can happen from time to time. I referred to the previous day's conversation. There was nothing she could do. We then went to the Hochland restaurant, which was, as always, really good. I can't comment on the meal in the Postkeller of the Mittenwald Brewery because I didn't even get a seat. Apparently, they don't value locals. I live just a few doors down. The Hochland restaurant, which I can truly recommend with a clear conscience, also serves Garmischer Helle. I haven't tried it yet, and the Mittenwald beer was even better. I'll go back to the Postkeller when there's an insolvency celebration there.

The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, something went a little wrong with one meal, but it was very accommodating and compensated. The beer is very drinkable, especially the Posthalter No. 9!

Nice terrace. Friendly service, but the beer didn't impress us. The meal, which cost a whopping €20, didn't even include a salad. Value for money hasn't been right for me since the change of ownership. A portion of fries for kids is €6.50, a children's plate is €9.50, etc. It's impossible that you can't pay by card at a large brewery. That's completely unacceptable.

Very good German cuisine, delicious schnitzel and local beer - we returned more than once during our holidays.

The food and drinks were undoubtedly solid – there's no doubt about that. But unfortunately, this positive impression was significantly tarnished by the service. The staff seemed unpleasantly flippant at times, almost as if the guests were more of a necessary evil than welcome. The restaurant is emblazoned with signs saying "Card payments accepted for amounts over €100" – only to then discover that there is no debit card machine at all. Instead, we were summarily referred to the "nearest" Sparkasse (savings bank), garnished with the snarky remark: "A walk of five meters never hurt anyone." The only problem is that these "five meters" are actually a whopping 1.5 kilometers – a real nuisance for a larger group that had deliberately chosen a restaurant that accepted debit cards. A touch more friendliness, coupled with a modicum of helpfulness, could have saved the evening. As it is, despite the good food, there remains a bitter aftertaste – and it has nothing to do with the food.

We went to the Postkeller as a family today. A very friendly welcome, but unfortunately, we chose an outside table. Three rows of tables were set up outside, each with a server. At the table next to us, people constantly and attentively asked questions and took our orders. Just as you would expect as a guest. We waited 10 minutes for the menus, and after asking again, we were able to place our order. I ordered my second beer at the bar because there was no sign of our server. Then the really good food arrived: the first course, a Cordon Bleu, followed three minutes later by the Munich Schnitzel, and four minutes later by the Wiener Schnitzel. It's possible that the food arrives late for a table, but the server should at least explain it. This was also a no-go. Another server cleared the table, and our server returned to pay. When I pointed out the poor service, she only grinned and offered no further comment. We imagine a lovely evening with Bavarian coziness differently. First and last time at the Postkeller!

Our Visit to the Postkeller If you love home-style cooking and enjoy a freshly tapped beer, you'll definitely enjoy the Postkeller. On our first visit, I opted for a knuckle of pork in beer sauce, served with two dumplings. The knuckle was crispy on the outside and very juicy on the inside. The portions are generous, and the price is absolutely fair. Everything tasted perfect—hearty, flavorful, and made with fresh ingredients. On our second visit, we opted for the Wiener Schnitzel, which the waitress kindly served with some creamed mushrooms upon request. This, too, was incredibly delicious, and the mushrooms were very aromatic. What impressed me most was the waitress. She was not only friendly and quick, but also extremely quick. On our second visit a few days later, she recognized us and even remembered what we had ordered the first time. Eleven out of ten. If you're in Mittenwald, you should definitely stop by here. We'll definitely be back!

We've been visiting this restaurant for years during our holidays in the region – for us, it's always been the epitome of Bavarian pub culture (hearty food, delicious beer). Unfortunately, today's visit has forced us to correct our previous perception, particularly regarding the food. We ordered two roast beefs with onions (€27.90 each) with mashed potatoes. We were horrified to discover after serving that at least one-third of the roast beef, which was barely the size of our hand, consisted of a rippled fat edge. Although the remaining meat was cooked to medium, it was difficult to cut with a knife due to its toughness. The side dish was fine. The onions were promptly replaced with sliced ​​spring onions – but that may have just been the garnish. A generous amount of the seemingly thin gravy was served – so much that it spilled over the table when it was served. Neither full nor satisfied, we each ordered dessert. With two beers (0.5l), the evening totaled around €81. Dinner here contributed neither to the nutritional intake nor to the enjoyment, not to mention the dashed expectations and the disappointing evening.

Since the last change of ownership, my beloved cheese spaetzle has been discontinued, but the food was still as consistently solid as ever. The service was very friendly and cheerful. The food was prompt, and the price was reasonable for the location. The only thing that caused some irritation was that we weren't allowed to push tables together for our group because the owner forbids it, and card payments aren't accepted. Despite the new kitchen, I would still say that you can eat here without hesitation.

The zander with Mediterranean vegetables on a rather hard hash brown was also difficult to handle in this soup bowl. The menu also listed currywurst with fries for €17.90... Sorry, that's way too much.
