The best steakhouse in Frankfurt; for the last 10 years, I've only preferred this steakhouse.

Outrageous!!! I waited 35 minutes for my food (goose leg) only to be told afterwards that the legs were still in the oven and would take another 10 minutes. Seriously??? They should have told me that from the start!!!

Incredibly friendly staff, very delicious food, fast service

We decided to go there Sunday evening and called half an hour ago to check if they can make reservation. He said we can go directly since they are not very crowded tonight. We went and saw the restaurant full and like 10 people waiting outside. We went inside and a person who claimed restaurant manager asked how many people we were without taking any note. He said we will need to wait 15 min but he didn’t take any name. After we waited like 10 min outside, the waiting people number even increased more and he didn’t know who was first to take. He started to say we need to wait 15-30 min more. We did not waste our time more since he created a chaos that he was not able to manage. It is almost impossible that a restaurant that was not crowded suddenly became crowded in half an hour with 10 people waiting outside! Even in such a case, a professional restaurant would take a piece of paper and create a simple list of people waiting list. No way to go back again!

I wanted to make a reservation for the same day here on the website. However, the booking page informs them that same-day reservations are only accepted by phone. So I called and was told that they don't accept bookings on Sundays. Why doesn't the booking portal inform them of this? I wasted time researching and making phone calls, and I feel ripped off. Block House hasn't done themselves any favors. I won't bother them again.

I've been a customer of this restaurant for seven years. We come here quite often, especially because my children love the children's menu. Yesterday we were there again, and since my tea tasted bitter, I asked for some extra hot water. However, the waiter told me he wasn't allowed to bring any extra water—his attitude was rather odd. Surprised, I said they could charge me for the water, as I couldn't drink the tea as it was. Reluctantly, shaking his head, he finally brought me the water. I paid 155 euros and felt very uncomfortable when I asked for 50 ml of hot water. A few years ago, I was put in an embarrassing situation at the same restaurant: I had invited a friend to dinner when two employees suddenly came to our table and claimed that a dish I had eaten a month earlier hadn't been charged to my card. They accused me of this in the middle of the meal—in front of my friend—and pressured me to pay immediately. To this day, I don't understand how they could have been so sure it was me. It was extremely rude and inappropriate. Maybe it was actually the second time, but I paid. Nevertheless, I believe it's the service staff's job to verify payment transactions. Even if they were certain it was me, saying something like that on an evening when I had invited a friend was truly inappropriate and damaged my reputation. It's a story I still can't forget.

The food was really bad and not worth the price.

Well, I'm very disappointed with this place. I ate there for the first time today with my friends. I had imagined it would be completely different. The food arrived completely cold. The fries were cold, so I complained. By the time the new fries arrived, there was almost no meat left on my plate. I won't be going back there again; it's very sad for such a place.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at this steakhouse! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The service was flawless – our waiter was attentive, friendly, and made sure every detail was perfect without ever being intrusive. The food was simply outstanding: the steak was cooked to perfection, juicy and full of flavor, and every side dish complemented the meal beautifully. Everything from the drinks to the dessert was top quality. Truly one of the best dining experiences I’ve had – highly recommended!

Very tasty steaks in a pleasant environment. The service is excellent, the meats are EXACTLY as you wish and very tasty. The menu includes, in addition to steaks and burgers, also poultry. The Mr. & Mrs Rumpsteak is recommended, while the caramel cream and the chocolate soufflé were excellent. One star less because 30€ for 100 grams of steak is too high a price and let it be accompanied by baked potato with sour cream and a good-sized piece of garlic bread

No matter when you visit Blockhouse, the service, quality, and taste are always outstanding. Prices are top-notch, and nothing has changed.

The meat was a bit tough and burnt in places. Unfortunately, it wasn't good enough for the price. The service was excellent, though. It was especially child-friendly, with opportunities to color and a puzzle as a gift at the end.

Great steak house that has been remarkably consistent over many years. I came here with my late parents many times, especially after performances at the Frankfurt Opera. One of my dad's favorites was always beef carpaccio, my mom's the bull soup. Great steak options and lovely appetizers. Friendly and efficient service. Always reliable!

The restaurant offers fresh and very tasty food, even if the portions are rather small. The service was extremely friendly, fast, and competent. The prices are on the high side, but in line with the usual standards in Frankfurt. I would particularly like to commend the person in charge, who treated a man who couldn't pay with remarkable humanity.

Unfortunately, it's becoming increasingly clear that Block House restaurants are also part of the chain restaurant chain. While the food is certainly of a decent standard, the service there has reached rock bottom. In the past, the waitresses would tell you that as a customer, you should please come back. Now, the staff doesn't seem to care about anything. I'm very, very disappointed and am closing the Block House chapter for myself. Addendum: After a long time, we visited the restaurant again on September 4, 2025. We were curious to see if anything had changed in the service. It hadn't! It had actually gotten worse. The only difference from our last visit was that almost all the tables in the restaurant were free.

The Block House in Frankfurt's Westend district has been around for ages, and its longevity is certainly due in part to the quality and service, which we were able to confirm once again on our last visit. The waitress who served our larger group that evening did a perfect job: friendly, attentive, cheerful, and service-oriented! The kitchen also demonstrated once again that they understand and excel at what they offer. The food was accordingly good, although the portions were a bit on the modest side in some places (e.g., the BBQ plate). The restaurant itself is as always. Everything was tidy and in good condition, making it a great place to spend time. Located right next to the Westend subway station, the Block House is also easily accessible by public transport.

Unfortunately, the place was below expectations. The service was poor, taking too long until our table was cleaned from the previous clients and until finally someone came to get our order. The customers service desperately needs an improvement. The meat was tasteless, not juicy, hard to cut. Not worth the price asked. An interest detail as well is the fact that majority of the staff are man. On the day I went there was only one woman serving the tables. An attempt of more gender balance in the environment would be beneficial for the business in my opinion. Last but not least, it would be good if the place have more structure to adapt with the very hot weather on summer time. Letting the windows open doesn’t help, since there is no ventilation. Consider installing AC, fans, otherwise staying indoors is unbearable.

Unfortunately, the salmon was grilled too dry, and I couldn't add more salt because the salt in the shaker had hardened due to moisture. The spinach on the side, however, was extremely oversalted. It was still okay together, but by the time the salmon was gone, the spinach on its own was barely edible. On a previous visit, I had ordered a medium steak, which unfortunately arrived well-done, and I had to return it.

The food itself was very tasty. But for the price, I expected more than about 50g of fries with the steak. The side dishes were generally very small, as my companions and I quickly noticed thanks to the small dollop of mashed potatoes and the small baked potato. Delicious, but you still want to be full.

Absolutely unacceptable experience. Green and yellow cable was found in the food and they did not take responsibility! I’ve been to this place many times, often with colleagues after work, and had considered it a reliable spot—until now. During our recent visit, one of my colleagues found a green and yellow electric cable inside his potato, served with steak. We immediately informed the waiter, who took the cable to the kitchen. After 30 minutes of silence, we asked for an explanation. The response? They claimed no such cable existed in their kitchen and implied we planted it ourselves. Unbelievable. I’ve spent over 330 euros by card here over time—probably more with cash—and this is how customers are treated? Eventually, the waiter returned and offered my colleague a single cup of coffee as compensation. That’s it. When we asked for coffees for the whole table (6 people) as a small gesture after this mess, we were denied again and told to speak to the manager. The manager finally came but had no clear explanation, no sincere apology, and only offered to cancel the charge for the meal with the cable—after we pushed hard. If we hadn’t insisted, would anything have been done? This isn’t just about poor service—this was a serious health hazard. What if someone had swallowed that cable? Shameful handling of a dangerous situation. We won’t be coming back, and I’d advise others to think twice.

This was our first time at the Block House in Frankfurt. The food came quickly and was delicious; the meat was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was nice. Unfortunately, there were problems with the bill. We asked Mr. P. to split the bill into a certain amount. He immediately replied no; we discussed the fact that the amount couldn't be split. My colleague tried to explain why we needed a separate bill, but his point was ignored. I worked in hotels for 13 years; you can split amounts into any desired sum. Mr. P. gave the impression that he didn't want to split the bill into the desired amount, but later gave in and hey presto, the bill could be split after all. When we left, he didn't even look at us and didn't even say goodbye, only his colleague did. Nevertheless, we would be happy to come back.

Hot day in Frankfurt. Did plenty of siteseeing and was tired and hungry mid afternoon. The chap could only serve 33cl glases of beer . Was looking forward to 50cl. Food and service was fine but it is the little things that let a place down.

The food was, as expected, top-notch: tender steak, perfectly cooked, crispy potato side dishes, fresh salad, and delicious bread to start with. The children's menu is well-thought-out and offers genuine quality – no sloppy "fries with ketchup" solutions, but age-appropriate portions with flavor. We particularly liked how families are naturally valued as guests here – without sacrificing quality or style. The atmosphere is relaxed but upscale. The seating is very comfortable. The meat tastes good 👍 and is fresh from the grill. The food is very reasonably priced because everything is included, such as salad and fries.

I like eating here at Blockhose. It's simply a good, old, stable atmosphere with good young bull meat to enjoy. Keis Haus Espresso is great. I don't have to drink it here, but the salad is unique, I'd say. It's been a regular for years. €50 per person, but there's no Merkel bollard in sight. I feel safe.

What an absolute disgrace. I went to Block House because I actually like their frozen patties — but what I got at the restaurant was a complete joke. They have the audacity to list “hamburger” on the menu, but what they serve doesn’t even qualify as one. A dry patty on one side, a bun on the other — not even assembled. What is this, a history museum exhibit from 1880? It’s 2025. People expect a real burger, not a DIY sandwich kit. Shame on whoever approved that menu.

We spontaneously went to the Blockhaus Essen on May 10th. We ordered two steaks and a kids' burger. We had salad and beef tartare beforehand. The quality of the meat was good, but nothing special. Our steaks arrived at our table as ordered. I would have appreciated a good pinch of salt; there was enough pepper on the steak. The baked potato and the sauces were delicious. The Blockhaus bread with garlic was a blast. The kids' burger was served differently; our short burger was a bit stunned, but without all the bells and whistles, the plate was empty. Except for the fries, which weren't salted and very unloving. I would have preferred a bit more steakhouse style and individuality here. All in all, you can eat well here, but nothing more. Especially for the price, you can expect a bit more.

Since then, the offer has spoiled the stomach of the entire family on Easter several times! Cheeky feedback that it couldn't be the problem and they hope to welcome us back soon. My family is so disgusted that they'll never come back! Unbelievable how you treat regular customers!

While the ambience was never more than an upscale McD, the service and food are now almost nil. The Büsumer crabs have now been replaced by shrimp salad, which is actually cucumber salad with a few crabs. Of three steaks that were ordered medium, two were well done and one was rare. Service extremely inattentive, had to be reminded to order salad and drinks until you didn't actually need them anymore. Instead of sauce and mayonnaise, there was a bottle of ketchup with a hole in the lid, also late. There is nothing more to recommend here, that was our last visit.

It was another experience for us, good grilled meat, it was delicious. Price-performance ratio was okay, portions smaller than I remembered, but you would be full. There's nothing wrong with the service either; my fries, which were unfortunately no longer so warm, would have been replaced with new ones. Fresh salad, vegetables also very tasty. We'll go back again at some point.

We were a company of four, 3 of us went for steaks (of a great quality and nicely served) and the last one ordered a burger (horrible, especially the minced meat’s taste). The service was lovely and friendly.

Typical steakhouse. What we particularly liked was the relaxed yet professional service. We called at half past six on Friday evening and asked for a table for two. ANSWER: "Nothing is free at the moment, but we won't let anyone go home hungry!" I thought that was a great reaction 5 stars for that. Food was good.

I had the chance to go twice during my business trip with my team, the prices are very, very good, the meat is even better. If we consider that friends who went from Turkey for the fair visit those regions, they can go without hesitation. The meat is cooked exactly as you want and the portions are quite filling. The service is a bit slow because it is very busy. But even if you experience a small dissatisfaction, instead of saying “sorry, it won’t happen again”, please don’t be embarrassed by hearing offers like “let’s make up for it right away, bring you dessert or bring your order again”. After all, tradesmanship is not fully appreciated in our country.

It seems that the meat drying process is not good or maybe it is a short period. 2- The salad for starter was fine 3- The waiters responses and explanation were not comprehensive and well-explained. 4- The food preparation time was beyond half an hour which is boring. 5- The atmosphere of restaurant was fine.

While we were there, between 6pm and 8pm, there were FIVE (!) birthday celebrations with birthday music being played and a starlight candles being served. Seems like a popular place for adult birthdays then.

Block House has been a household name for me for probably 40 years. I used to go there quite regularly as a guest. Now, after a long time, I wanted to indulge in my positive memories again and visited this block house in Frankfurt. In the morning I tried to reserve a table for two people. This was rejected on the grounds that there was no reservation for two people. It should also take a maximum of a few minutes. Reality: Very long line and we had to wait easily 30 minutes until we finally got a table. This is exactly what we wanted to avoid. The steak dishes are still the same as before, which I welcomed. But what I've never experienced before is that my steak arrived with very little residual heat, i.e. not much warmer than my finger. With prices now so high, as a guest I expect something much better. Conclusion for us: Even though we enjoy eating steak, we will think carefully about a future visit.

After 20 years of loyalty on the phone, dumped as socially. 20 years of tradition of all members of my family having lunch at the Blockhaus Westend on birthdays has now come to a very unpleasant end. When I called on January 15th, 2025 for a table for 4 people for a big birthday on the 17th, like all previous years, I only heard - "no reservations during the trade fair period", then they simply hung up. I thought the line was disconnected because I couldn't believe that I was being disrespected as a customer. The man himself answered it again. I apologized and asked if he just hung up. He said- YES. I explained the situation, birthday, 20 years of customers...then- "no reservation, come over and bring waiting time with you." I said there was a 90 year old woman there and should she wait outside the door? "Then I'll give you a chair so she can wait in the chair." Well, we were always satisfied and always very, really generous with tips. I was very disappointed and will never enter the store again and recommend everyone to do the same. On the same day I went to the Blockhaus at the Stock Exchange and could easily reserve a table for 4 people. Conclusion: the staff is crucial in the service industry. The man who answered the phone is incompetent, rude, not intelligent enough to do his job. We remain loyal to the Blockhaus, only thanks to the, in contrast, very competent, understanding, friendly and flexible employees at the Blockhaus on the stock exchange.

Typical steakhouse, very courteous staff, nicely decorated! There was a section of about 5 vegetarian dishes on the menu and of course soups/salads without meat. My dish (salad, bread and baked potato) didn't taste great, but it didn't taste very bad either. I guess they're so mediocre here because they focus their expertise on steaks.

It’s our best place for family dinner when we visit Germany and it always creates the most unforgettable memory for us. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly. Delicious stakes especially the fillet mignon and delicious strawberry ice cream.

Absolutely excellent meat, medium to perfection, always a pleasure. Staff as always very nice. There was nothing to add to the recession from 6 years ago, as loyal guests we were always very satisfied, until yesterday... somehow we were lured by the description of the "burger". What happened next didn't meet our expectations at all. Ultimately it was written that the burger comes on bread, but somehow it was overlooked because the inner image of a burger predominated. So the familiar piece of log house bread as a base with a leaf of lettuce, a few diced tomatoes sautéed in the pan and the gratinated cheese was all that accompanied the 200 gram paddi. The teaspoon of coleslaw, barely more than half a thumb, caused me and my companion to burst out laughing immediately and without agreement. The ink for the clue in the map was probably worth more than this blob. No thanks, in the future we'll stick with the proven piece of meat and the familiar side dish.

Food very very tasty!!! The service is very friendly, but sometimes it takes a little longer. The ambience is suitable for a steakhouse. The birthday surprises are very nice but I won't say more about them, you have to experience them. Parking is generally difficult in Frankfurt, so you just have to look for it in the Westend.

Ich war gestern wieder dort im Haupthaus Wiesenau. Ich hatte meinen Ceasar- Salat mit Hähnchenbrust bestellt, es wurde mir gesagt, es gibt nur Putenbrust heute. Habe ich dann bestellt, die Putenbrust trocken und zäh! Der ganze Salat war lieblos angerichtet, lieblos wie teilweise das Personal dort !

The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, which created a great atmosphere right from the start. The meat was really first class. I had the Irish Dry Aged Rump Steak, which was grilled to a perfect medium rare – a delight in every way! For dessert there was a chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream, which rounded off the evening perfectly. Overall it was an excellent visit: great food, excellent service and a wonderful atmosphere. Absolutely recommended – I would love to come back!

The Block House was completely full and we (3 adults and two children) had to wait almost an hour until there were seats for us. But after so much anticipation, the food tasted particularly good! 👍

Super nice staff, always busy in the early evening - but at least for two you can usually find something... Food quality as usual at this steakhouse chain. Disadvantage: Finding a parking space, as always in the Westend, is a disaster.

Well, unfortunately the service is of no use if you can't get the steaks tender. Really a shame. The taste is fresh, but a bit bland, but the question that arises most is: Why can't the steaks in a steakhouse for this price range be tender? Maybe it was just because the place was pretty full and people didn't pay enough attention to the grill... there are much better steak restaurants out there. But still 1 star for the nice service.
