Block House in Frankfurt am Main

My wife's Mrs. Rump steak was a bit tough, but otherwise, everything tasted good. I ordered a tomato salad. The result: charging €5.50 for a sliced tomato with American dressing is an example of how some restaurateurs overdo it with price increases and then wonder why some customers don't come. The service was attentive and friendly.

The food is quite good and the price is perfectly reasonable for Frankfurt standards. The restaurant itself is large and airy. The server was very attentive. Points of criticism: 1. A fillet is only cooked for a few minutes. Even though the restaurant wasn't full, I had to wait almost 40 minutes for my food. That's definitely too long. 2. I sat next to the salad bar. As is well known, the waiters here have to assemble the salads for the guests themselves. One waitress collects money, scratches her head, and then digs into the plates and bowls every time before assembling the salad. She also always touches the small spoons with her dirty fingernails. That's exactly what guests end up putting in their mouths. I sat there for over an hour. Unfortunately, the described procedure was repeated EVERY time. I don't want to eat salad at Block House again.

Update: Lunch visit on July 22, 2025 Very good lunch, unfortunately the main portion is very small and doesn't fill you up, so I had to have dessert. I would have liked at least a larger side dish (rice). November 2021 Steak very good, salads fresh, friendly service! Top-notch At Blockhouse again today, Caesar salad with strips of beef fillet, very good!

We discovered the Block House spontaneously, or rather by chance. We were greeted politely by the lady at the door. There were four of us: two adults, one child, and a baby in a stroller, but that didn't really bother anyone. It was a Friday evening, so it was quite busy, but we were offered several comfortable seats where we could sit comfortably as a family with children. The children were given something to draw on, and we were given the menu. The food was simply delicious; we were very satisfied. We also had bruschetta as a starter, but unfortunately, that didn't make it into the picture 😄 The atmosphere was perfect, and the food was delicious from starter to dessert. We would come back and definitely recommend it to others!

The service was undoubtedly the most pleasant part of the evening. The server was extremely friendly, attentive, and made a real effort to create a pleasant atmosphere. For our starter, we chose the beef tartare to share. Unfortunately, it came on only one plate – a shame, because if it was explicitly offered as "to share" on the menu, I would have expected this to be reflected in the presentation. So, the note in the order was essentially superfluous. The main course, a rib eye mastercut, unfortunately fell short of expectations. While the piece of meat looked fine, a tendon running through it significantly diminished its enjoyment – ​​disappointing for a dish that's presented as a highlight on the menu. Overall, the food was okay, but nothing more than that. The flavor was solid, but without any surprises or particular refinement. You get the feeling that Block House has somewhat stagnated in time – the concept now seems a bit outdated, especially in a restaurant that is constantly evolving. Conclusion: Those looking for solid cuisine and very friendly service will be satisfied here. However, those looking for culinary highlights will likely be disappointed.

Big chain but always quality. Even for a group of 20 people it was no problem to bring the food quickly and all cuissons were perfect as ordered.

However, the experience was soured by one of our waiter’s attitudes After finishing our salads, no one came to clear the plates. When our mains arrived, we politely helped clear the salad I plates ourselves to make space, only to be met with a rude and irritated look from the waiter. It felt unnecessarily hostile and unprofessional. Good food is important, but service makes or breaks the experience. Unfortunately, this left a negative impression on what could have been a great evening.

Very little food for what you pay. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The food was good. There was a dog sitting with customers inside that kept barking. Annoying! You can't sit outside as the smoke was so thick....even outside! Yes, it's where smokers have to go, but really, get with the times and ban smoking at restaurants. They can be healthy while they eat and allow non-smokers the fresh air!!

The steak and the other things were very good and tasty, but the worst thing was that we found a small/very short hair in the salad.

Many years later, we visited this establishment again, and, frankly speaking, the impressions exceeded expectations. From the very entrance, we felt a cozy atmosphere - it is really nice to be here. The service left only positive emotions: everything is fast, clear and with a professional approach. It is obvious that the staff knows their business and cares about the guests. Of the dishes, the filet mignon was especially memorable - excellent taste and excellent presentation. The rump steak ordered by my companion was also very worthy. Everything was prepared with high quality and attention to detail. The cleanliness in the establishment deserves special praise - everything is neat, including the toilets. We were absolutely satisfied and can confidently recommend this place. Without a doubt, we will come back here again.

There was a placemat for the children to color and markers. There was also a good children's menu. We ordered a kids' burger for our son. Hungry children, of course, have to have their meal as an appetizer. 😉 My son got his burger and was totally disappointed. The garlic bread at Blockhouse is really delicious. But he didn't even like a Frikadelle (burger patty) and the garlic bread, so he didn't eat it (it cost €7). We would have liked to have had a heads-up. No pickle, lettuce, or sauce. Blockhouse doesn't even have classic burger buns. Our companion also had a burger. The dish was strips of beef steak in peppercorn sauce with grilled vegetables (€17) plus a baked potato (+€4.50). Dish number 2 was a 160g sirloin steak with a dollop of coleslaw, fries, and garlic bread (€18 plus €3 for salad). The picture shows turkey steaks with a baked potato and bread. For dessert, the kids had ice cream, a waffle with cherries, and an apple strudel. The first course was very tasty, and those who had the other course thought it was okay. The service was attentive and very friendly, but not always present. At the end of the day, the kids received a water ball from the Blockhouse, a really nice giveaway. At the exit, the kids were able to help themselves to the candy jar.

Great steak, cooked perfectly medium!

Nice steak house. Bull soup was mild flavoured with two very small pieces of beef. French onion soup tasty but very salty. Ribeye was very tasty but my companion ordered it medium, got extra rare and couldn't eat it. Salad excellent. Potato and sour cream average. Icecream average quality, "extra chocolate" was actually just regular chocolate with choc chips. Strudel was great. My dinner was ruined during the main course by foul cigarette smoke coming into the restaurant from inconsiderate smokers just outside. we were quickly moved to a different table but still felt sick due to smoke continuing to enter the restaurant. Door could not be shut to keep smoke out due to chairs stacked against it. Service pretty good otherwise but why allow smokers to ruin everyone else's meal? Just Forbid smoking on your property.

Coleslaw tasted like everything and nothing. Fries were neither salted nor crispy, and the bread could have been baked a few minutes longer. The filet was good. There was a hair in the salad. All in all, it was a bit overpriced.

I deliberately took my time and spent a week thinking about whether I wanted to write a review – but unfortunately, the experience still haunts me. Last week, four of us dined at the Block House. One of our companions kindly informed the waiter that she could only eat very small portions for health reasons (after gastric surgery). To avoid unnecessary food waste, we asked if it would be possible to order a children's plate for her – after all, the menu offers this. The answer was unfortunately very disappointing: For business reasons and in the interest of cost-effectiveness, this was not possible. No exceptions, no accommodations – even though this was a medical necessity. We then simply finished our drinks and left the restaurant. I honestly find it hard to understand why no flexibility is shown in such a case. Especially in this day and age, when topics such as sustainability and mindfulness in the use of resources are playing an increasingly important role, I would have wished for more humanity and understanding. A visit to a restaurant should be a pleasant experience – unfortunately, for us it wasn’t.

I had the pleasure of dining at Block House yesterday for lunch, and I'm still thrilled. The ambiance was inviting as always, and the service attentive and friendly. But the absolute highlight was my steak – grilled to perfection, wonderfully tender, and a true delight. I was particularly impressed by the lady at the grill. With obvious passion, she prepared my steak exactly as I requested. Her precision and professionalism deserve special praise. A huge compliment to the entire team for their great work. The visit was a thoroughly positive experience, one that I would happily recommend. If you value quality, impeccable service, and authentic grilling, this is the place for you.

I had a Hereford rib-eye steak. It came medium-rare, as requested. It was juicy. Of course, it didn't quite match the photo on the menu. The grill marks were missing, and thus the roasted flavor. However, it could have been seasoned better. Without salt and pepper, it would have tasted like meat, not steak. And covering it up with the sour cream from the baked potato doesn't do a good steak justice. All this for €28.50, was it worth it? Unfortunately, I overlooked the fact that the steak automatically comes with the potato and a piece of garlic bread (which was good). Those aren't the side dishes I want with the meat. I also had pan-fried vegetables, which I also had to season heavily. A small side salad with Italian dressing was good. An onion and cheese soup as a starter was delicious. Overall, it was good, but some details could be improved. The ambiance in the restaurant was nice, comfortable, and contemporary. It was Friday afternoon and not crowded, so we could choose a seat.

We wanted to grab a bite to eat before a concert and ended up at Block House. The service was friendly, but the decor was a bit dusty, literally. The food was tasty, but the portions were noticeably too small. It didn't really fill us up. I think the restaurant benefits from its proximity to the Frankfurt Festhalle—the restaurant was packed with concertgoers.

I ate a New York burger. I'm usually always skeptical but this time it was great. I have no complaints. Waiter was very friendly and helpful. The food tasted very good. You had to wait about 20 minutes to eat even though the restaurant was full.

Hello, I have known Blockhouse for a long time and have always been satisfied. But on April 25th, 2025 around 2:30 p.m. I was disappointed, especially by the service. An ordered starter was not brought or was simply forgotten. My steak wasn't great either (that can happen) but the white bread didn't work at all. Completely different quality and not what you are used to. At least the steak was okay for my blackheads. The service was sublime and took quite a long time until it was realized that we had been sitting there for 10 minutes (the restaurant was perhaps 25% full). I'm not surprised that the service was so bad, the lady who was responsible for us had nothing to do other than stand around, make small talk with her colleagues or flirt with guests. A single employee tried to at least clear the plates and asked if everything was clear. We won't go here anymore, one last attempt perhaps in the Blockhouse Westend. Too bad!

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with my visit to this restaurant. From my point of view, the taste of the food was not convincing and the meat did not meet the quality level that I would like. For me, there are much better alternatives in the area, so I will avoid this restaurant in the future.

There were three of us here in the early evening. The steaks were exactly as requested. Points are deducted for the salad. Although this is made with fresh ingredients, it is reasonably priced for the portion served. The service staff was very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The interior is getting old.

We had a fillet steak, 220 grams 39€ with a potato and bread! I also ordered extra fries. The fries as shown in the picture, cheapest tk fries, the salad dressing is a finished product. The potatoes are way too hard. The meat was okay but never worth €39. Overall taste 2/5. If you really want to eat steak, there are much better alternatives that are not more expensive.

The rating speaks for itself. I ate, among other things, the Block House bread (20/10) and beef rump medallion BBQ - I haven't eaten something so delicious in years. The price is also absolutely right. Great restaurant!

Unfortunately very disappointing. We were in the restaurant yesterday and ordered turkey steaks. We didn't feel like beef steak. It doesn't work at all. There were 3 small, completely dried-out pieces of turkey that were almost impossible to cut with a knife. Portion was too small of the turkey. Not long ago there was also a turkey steak that was in one piece, very juicy and well grilled. One wonders why such things have to happen in a steakhouse. To be honest, any layman would cook it better than it did yesterday. Poultry should not be medium rare but it must be edible. The rest was fine as always.

5 stars – highly recommended! We spontaneously visited the Blockhaus in Frankfurt before a concert - and it was simply great! As soon as we entered we were warmly welcomed and seated straight away. The friendly lady at reception knew we were going to a concert and reassured us that the waiting times were currently short - great service! Our server Nina was simply great! Super personable, attentive and totally warm - she asked us directly about drinks and food, always with a smile on her lips. You could really tell that she was paying attention to us because she knew we were in a bit of a hurry. The drinks came in a flash, the food arrived in about 15 minutes – and what can we say? Super, super, super delicious! After the meal, the plates were cleared away quickly and we were politely asked if we would like anything else. We ordered two delicious espressos, the bill came promptly and the entire process was simply pleasant. A big thank you to Nina and also to waiter Danny – you were both incredibly nice and gave us a great start to the evening! Conclusion: A great restaurant with excellent service, delicious food and really nice staff. We'll definitely be back! On business we had dinner at the Blockhouse on Europa-Allee in Frankfurt. We had called ahead and made a reservation. It later turned out that this was a very good decision because, even though it was a Wednesday evening, there was a queue of people who also wanted to dine here when we arrived. The atmosphere in the store is actually good, but we sat very close to the entrance, so the guests in the entrance area were always staring at us. The staff were very polite and accommodating. I ordered a filet mignon medium with fries. Afterwards there was a chocolate lava cake. The steak was perfectly cooked, juicy and delicious. The fries were too thin and far too few for my taste, but otherwise delicious. The herb butter, on the other hand, was just acceptable. The lava cake was too sweet for me, but at least it lived up to its name by spilling out when you cut it into pieces. However, I wouldn't order dessert next time. As with all steakhouses, the price is very high for the level of satiety you get. Hardly any information about animal husbandry - that's to be expected with such a high price. I can recommend steaks to everyone. For the rest, I would try the other alternatives next time or leave them out completely.

Top steaks, the classic no matter where you go to a Block House in Germany it is top everywhere. I've been coming for years and have never had anything to complain about. The service here in the Europaviertel is super nice.

Unfortunately no recommendation. We've been wanting to go to Block Haus for a while - unfortunately we were disappointed here. Food came quickly but everything was very carelessly prepared, almost like a cafeteria. You notice the mass processing. Potato tasted like it had been warm for 5 hours, there was very little sour cream. Salad dressing greasy & tasteless. The best thing was the bread, although it was also very greasy. My friend's steak was okay. When we asked that we expected more, the waiter immediately offered dessert on the house. And that was really delicious! All in all, we still wouldn't come here again.

Our favorite restaurant. We've been going there regularly for years. Perfect with small children: there's a kids' menu, and while we wait, they get crayons to color. The food is excellent and good value for money. One of the best steaks in Frankfurt. The service is fast and friendly. We always feel comfortable here.

We haven't been to a blockhouse for many years and we were pleasantly surprised. Pleasant atmosphere, excellent, fast and very professional service with good service. The filet mignon was great and the Mrs. rump steak was also more than pleasing. Everything was clean and tidy, including the toilet facilities. We were completely satisfied and would happily and confidently recommend this blockhouse. We'll definitely come back here.

The food is good but presented somewhat carelessly. The service is similarly good, formally everything is correct, but there's always an undertone that you should hurry up with your order, for example. When the restaurant is busy, the noise level is quite high, making conversation at the table difficult.

Disappointing visit with several problems with the steak - unfortunately not convincing We were with a group of seven people in the Block House on Europaallee in Frankfurt. Unfortunately, the majority of our guests were dissatisfied with the food, especially when it came to the preparation of the steaks. A particularly negative example was a tenderloin that had to be re-grilled three times because the desired cooking level of "medium" was not achieved - it came back first rare, then medium rare, and finally medium well. That's what the piece of meat looked like in the end, disappointingly - cut several times, looking like a comb. Two other guests also had to be grilled because the doneness wasn't right. My personal experience was also disappointing: I ordered the master cut (rib eye), but from my point of view I got a piece from the neck area that was very similar to a chuck steak - hardly any marbling, tough and difficult to chew. The desired cooking level of “medium rare” was not achieved, the meat was mostly raw and barely grilled, with almost no roasted aromas on the outside. Only a few rare pieces of the edges were edible, the rest were unfortunately inedible. The service made an effort and took the criticism to heart - as compensation we were offered a round of desserts on the house, which was positively received by the group. I'm not a dessert fan myself and unfortunately I went home hungry and disappointed. Of course, there's the typical, toasted Block House bread in unlimited quantities, but honestly: I don't go to a steakhouse to eat bread - I go there for good steaks. Block House has very reasonable prices compared to other steakhouses. I just hope that these are not achieved at the expense of the quality of the meat - because that's not something you should skimp on in a steak restaurant. Conclusion: Criticism should be seen as an opportunity for improvement. To be honest, I was surprised that a steakhouse doesn't measure core temperature for quality control (at least that's what I was told when I asked). The evening was only nice because we were with great people - unfortunately the food didn't support this impression.

Actually good restaurant. We come regularly. Today we wanted to eat the lunch menu, salmon fillet. Unfortunately, it was supposedly already sold out at 12:45 p.m. It's a shame that they weren't prepared for more, especially on a Friday. We were very disappointed. We had to wait outside because it was so busy during the fair days. However, we got free beer there while we waited. The steak was spot on, the baked potato and bread were very good. The only thing I would have liked was a little more sour cream.

The restaurant was full, we waited half an hour to be seated. The meat was very delicious, we ate it well cooked. Mr. Rubsteak. They offered salad from the front. It was delicious too. It had a yoghurt sauce. Finally, we bought dessert as closing. Waffle was the best, soufflé was average, and the apple dessert was so hot it burned my mouth. But overall we were very satisfied.

For the first time I'm writing a review. Don't be serious. I paid 16 euros for the meal... It may be that tourists in the neighboring hotels visit it, but such a portion is simply outrageous.

Great steak house! I have been a satisfied customer for years and have never been disappointed. The restaurant atmosphere is very nice and inviting. Also child friendly with crayons and small gifts. The service is always very accommodating and the food is great. T-bone steak arrived perfectly medium rare, as ordered. Absolute recommendation for meat lovers!

Wow what an underground experience On the menu is Fjord salmon with potato gratin and spinach... what was served... a frozen spinach mash, a potato gratin mash and a frozen salmon that wasn't even prepared properly... Grade 6 The mignon fillet was ok but instead of medium it was medium rare and totally small... the baked potato was soggy and the salad was carelessly thrown together and overloaded with vinegar I have to honestly say that for 64 euros it was a complete rip-off and the quality was really the abyss of good taste I would advise anyone not to visit this restaurant... luckily we took the receipt with us so that we can prove this pathetic idea if necessary It was pathetic

Incredibly friendly service at the entrance! And the waitress Mirella (hopefully spelled correctly) really did everything she could to bring us the food as quickly as possible because we were in a hurry. The food was also really delicious. The meat was incredibly tender. This really almost fell apart. Would go back at any time.

We were at the fair these days and I must say that the queue to wait our turn was absolutely worth it and for two evenings 😉 Nice place, clean, well organised, open kitchen. Their strong point is definitely the meat, excellent cuts, perfect cooking! We were served for both dinners by a boy named Patrick who was truly very good, immediate, attentive, friendly and smiling, whom we thank...well done!!! I recommend 👍

When I saw the two women at the grill, I was skeptical at first - after all, it's not exactly common to see women behind the grill. Still, I was excited about my steak, and what can I say? It was juicy, tender and grilled so perfectly I couldn't believe it. Such grilling skills really deserve applause! This shows that true ability has nothing to do with clichés.

We were there with the grandchildren. Delicious food, extremely friendly and helpful to the children. Toys and art supplies for the children without prompting. Great advice, flexible, delicious. Expensive, but worth the price in our opinion. If steakhouse...then here.

This fitness club is really starting to annoy me - just unbelievable. No hygiene, there are no wipes at all, no one cares, the toilets smell bad and some equipment is broken. If this continues, no one will want to come here anymore.

I had a Mr. Rump steak with baked potatoes, garlic bread and a salad 🥗. I ordered the meat medium and that's how it was delivered. The steak was super tender. Just as I expected. The side dishes were good too. The service was very good and friendly. We didn't have to wait long for our order. I can recommend the restaurant.

The food was fried to perfection and served hot. Very well cut meat, roasted aromas present, subtly seasoned. Side dishes tasty, salad with house dressing Toasted bread. There was also matching wine on the menu. Special thanks to the kitchen and the service from Christian. With his friendliness he won over his tables and brought out a few smiles from his guests. Unfortunately, it's not often found anymore, so special praise is given for it.
