Block House in Frankfurt am Main

I used to go there almost every day and still get recognized. The staff doesn't have a significant turnover, which speaks volumes about their quality (in my opinion). You can really feel the fun and enjoyment they put into serving. The food is as delicious as ever. My absolute favorite Block House location.

The steaks were quite good, but the side dishes were abysmal. The potato gratin consisted of about five potato slices. For €4.70, that was truly disappointing. The side salad was already dressed and sitting on plates at the salad bar, waiting to be served (no one knows how long it had been sitting there). It was so drenched in dressing that it was more dressing than salad. For a total of €96 for two people, this was truly disappointing. Only the steaks, which were quite decent, justify the three stars. This will definitely be our last visit. What a shame!

The food was delicious and the service was very good despite it being lunchtime.

I ordered a medium-well filet mignon, and what I received was a raw piece of meat that completely ruined my appetite. Honestly, you pay almost 40 euros, and in the end, you can't even manage to deliver a decent steak. And then, as compensation, you try to remove the awful water from the bill—you can forget about that!

I'm very satisfied with Block House. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. The service was always attentive and we felt very comfortable. Everyone received their steaks cooked to their liking and there were no mix-ups.

After many years as a pescatarian, I returned to Block House. For a long time, the vegetarian options were limited, and the salmon dish had changed. Now, there's a diverse selection for vegetarians, and the "old" salmon dish is back: perfectly grilled with fantastic side dishes. Since then, we've been coming here more often and have only positive things to say!

Large, well-run establishment, good meats. A bit noisy.

The food is delicious, and they serve it quickly. But the tables in the dining room are packed tightly together, so you can barely squeeze in. There's no background music, and it's as noisy as a cafeteria.

It isn’t the best place if you’re looking for ambiance but when it comes to steaks do come. We got the filet mignon with salad and fries. It was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Don go without buying some of their pepper to take home

I tried to grab a bite to eat at a nearby restaurant, but they rudely refused to let me sit by the window. I'm glad I found this restaurant nearby. Excellent steak (got it with mushroom sauce). Excellent service. Great atmosphere.

The steak portion was quite tasty and filling. First, you'll find your choice of three different sauces and a salad. Then comes the main course: steak, baked potatoes, and garlic bread. Each dish is delicious, well-balanced, and satisfying. The service staff was polite and attentive. We were very pleased. Reservations may be necessary.

The ambiance and service were satisfactory. I had the New York Cheeseburger. There were far too few fries, and the burger had nothing to do with a cheeseburger. Just a dried-out bun and one patty with cheese. Terrible. The food was very bad, especially for the price.

Block House Frankfurt is a great place — the beer was tasty, and the burger was really good. In this area, it’s definitely one of the best spots. Highly recommended! 🍔🍺

Visited during trade fair season. The place was packed. The atmosphere was anything but cozy – it felt more like mass processing. But our server was excellent. Unfortunately, the food was bland and unseasoned, and we'll have to practice ordering "medium" again when ordering a piece of meat costing over €30. Typical chain restaurant.

If you are looking for a good meal, you will not be disappointed here. But if you were an American coming into this restaurant and expecting a great steak, you’ll be strongly disappointed. In the United States, we have Ponderosa and bonanza type steakhouses, chains restaurants. Although the salad potato bread, soup was good the steak was just Ponderosa chain steakhouse, quality of steak. Again, not a bad restaurant just not a great steakhouse. Great service pleasant people clean place.

The food is very good, we tried everything from soup to dessert, from salad to meat... The result was great, well done... Only my wife got the apple tart, she asked for cinnamon, they didn't have it (must be a cultural difference, it's not a problem)... 😀 And we couldn't explain the wet wipes, that's another thing 😅. But the German waitress Cristiana was very attentive, thank you.

Thr atmosphere is cozy with dimmed light and separated seating areas. The open kitchen allows you to check out the chef's skills. Friendly service, but probably too busy on a Sunday evening to check in with ypu and see if everything is ok or if you would like to order something else. Food is tasty, price is reasonable.

Nice restaurant. From the outside in it looks like a very fancy fine dining, but it’s actually just a normal nice restaurant. Mostly steaks and some burgers. Fries and potatoes were great. Food took about 30 minutes, but they were a bit busy. Overall good experience, but service was slow and not super friendly, when the waiter brought the check, there were 2 of us, we politely asked to split the check and she rolled her eyes and said something not nice in a language she thought we didn’t speak. So work on customer service, but food was good.

The ribeye and filet mignon in particular were absolutely top-notch. The Block House is also very reasonably priced for what it offers. We were pleasantly surprised: a stylish ambiance, fast and professional service, and clean premises, including restrooms. In conclusion: A true highlight in Frankfurt! We'll definitely be back.

A very nice Block House Restaurant at the Frankfurt Trade Fair. The food is good, the service is very attentive and friendly, and the ambiance is very pleasant. The only drawback is the parking situation. There are few free parking spaces.

Steak was done great . The norweigan salmon was delicious. Apple strudel was a great dessert to cap the meal. The service was great as well and fast .

Even though we are foreigners here, we didn't encounter a language barrier. Great food, great service, there were 25 of us, everything was absolutely perfect, including non-standard wishes and always with a smile. Thanks for the experience 👍💪

I was forced to dine inside and practically thrown out, which I accepted calmly. I ended up going to eat at the Turkish restaurant next door, which was excellent, by the way. When I walked by later, I noticed that the restaurant's terrace was open and full of customers sitting at tables. I don't know if it was poor service or discriminatory behavior, but either way, the experience was very unpleasant. I do not recommend this restaurant, as I risk being frustrated before I've even eaten. The incident occurred on September 29th around 9:30 p.m.

I tried the American tenderloin. It was quite good. Be sure to eat the butter that comes with it along with the meat. I've added it to my regular restaurant list.

Awesome steakhouse with really cool staff! Patrick, in particular, is incredibly knowledgeable about the dishes, very attentive, and creates a great atmosphere! Huge praise here. The steaks are always consistently good in quality and taste. The prices are very fair for what's on offer. What I really liked, though, is that the quality is always consistent, and you know you're getting what you're getting, no matter whether you're in Stuttgart, Frankfurt, or Hamburg.

So 2 years ago me and a group of 12 over ate at this place with one of the member haveing a onion allergy he informed the waiter about this said allergy and was deliver a steak with chive butter on top he asked politely can they re make it as of the allergy declared and took it back and remove the butter and flipped it around to him having a reaction in the place lucky he was fine and was able to stay inside the restraunt but had the cheeck to still charge us for the food and refused to take it off the bill 2 years later I’m planning on visiting Frankfurt again I tried to make a booking online where it would only allow me to make booking of 6 I phone the store to ask if they could accommodate this and refuse to taking any booking at all unless it done on the website I said to the worker on the phone who was being nice enough to translate what I was saying to his collgue I will be needing to take my buiness else where and asked if he could go back to work Custer service levels are poor becuse of this it’s not like I’m asking for discount or anything else all I was asking was to fill your restraunt ??

Everything was great. First came the salads, then very quickly the steaks with potatoes, perfectly fried as requested. And for my birthday, I got a free chocolate cake as dessert with a candle and birthday music. Highly recommended :)

Touristy place. I asked for Rumpsteak medium it is well, well done. The wine was great, the Bruschetta was soggy when they piled a lot of wet tomatoes on the bread. They would do well if they put tomatoes on the side or less. Will not go back. If you sit outside be aware, most of Europe has smokers out there, it is normal.

They were truly magnificent. What I found a bit disappointing, however, was the ambiance in front of the door. I really wish there were a few plant pots placed there as a barrier to the sidewalk. That would simply make the whole atmosphere a bit more cozy, but otherwise, the log cabin style is top-notch as always.

My wife's Mrs. Rump steak was a bit tough, but otherwise, everything tasted good. I ordered a tomato salad. The result: charging €5.50 for a sliced tomato with American dressing is an example of how some restaurateurs overdo it with price increases and then wonder why some customers don't come. The service was attentive and friendly.

The food is quite good and the price is perfectly reasonable for Frankfurt standards. The restaurant itself is large and airy. The server was very attentive. Points of criticism: 1. A fillet is only cooked for a few minutes. Even though the restaurant wasn't full, I had to wait almost 40 minutes for my food. That's definitely too long. 2. I sat next to the salad bar. As is well known, the waiters here have to assemble the salads for the guests themselves. One waitress collects money, scratches her head, and then digs into the plates and bowls every time before assembling the salad. She also always touches the small spoons with her dirty fingernails. That's exactly what guests end up putting in their mouths. I sat there for over an hour. Unfortunately, the described procedure was repeated EVERY time. I don't want to eat salad at Block House again.

Update: Lunch visit on July 22, 2025 Very good lunch, unfortunately the main portion is very small and doesn't fill you up, so I had to have dessert. We discovered the Block House spontaneously, or rather by chance. We were greeted politely by the lady at the door. There were four of us: two adults, one child, and a baby in a stroller, but that didn't really bother anyone. It was a Friday evening, so it was quite busy, but we were offered several comfortable seats where we could sit comfortably as a family with children. The children were given something to draw on, and we were given the menu. The food was simply delicious; we were very satisfied. We also had bruschetta as a starter, but unfortunately, that didn't make it into the picture 😄 The atmosphere was perfect, and the food was delicious from starter to dessert. We would come back and definitely recommend it to others!

The service was undoubtedly the most pleasant part of the evening. The server was extremely friendly, attentive, and made a real effort to create a pleasant atmosphere. For our starter, we chose the beef tartare to share. Unfortunately, it came on only one plate – a shame, because if it was explicitly offered as "to share" on the menu, I would have expected this to be reflected in the presentation. So, the note in the order was essentially superfluous. The main course, a rib eye mastercut, unfortunately fell short of expectations. While the piece of meat looked fine, a tendon running through it significantly diminished its enjoyment – ​​disappointing for a dish that's presented as a highlight on the menu. Overall, the food was okay, but nothing more than that. The flavor was solid, but without any surprises or particular refinement. You get the feeling that Block House has somewhat stagnated in time – the concept now seems a bit outdated, especially in a restaurant that is constantly evolving. Conclusion: Those looking for solid cuisine and very friendly service will be satisfied here. However, those looking for culinary highlights will likely be disappointed.

Big chain but always quality. Even for a group of 20 people it was no problem to bring the food quickly and all cuissons were perfect as ordered.

However, the experience was soured by one of our waiter’s attitudes After finishing our salads, no one came to clear the plates. When our mains arrived, we politely helped clear the salad I plates ourselves to make space, only to be met with a rude and irritated look from the waiter. It felt unnecessarily hostile and unprofessional. Good food is important, but service makes or breaks the experience. Unfortunately, this left a negative impression on what could have been a great evening.

The food was good. There was a dog sitting with customers inside that kept barking. Annoying! You can't sit outside as the smoke was so thick....even outside! Yes, it's where smokers have to go, but really, get with the times and ban smoking at restaurants. They can be healthy while they eat and allow non-smokers the fresh air!!

The steak and the other things were very good and tasty, but the worst thing was that we found a small/very short hair in the salad.

Many years later, we visited this establishment again, and, frankly speaking, the impressions exceeded expectations. From the very entrance, we felt a cozy atmosphere - it is really nice to be here. The service left only positive emotions: everything is fast, clear and with a professional approach. It is obvious that the staff knows their business and cares about the guests. Of the dishes, the filet mignon was especially memorable - excellent taste and excellent presentation. The rump steak ordered by my companion was also very worthy. Everything was prepared with high quality and attention to detail. The cleanliness in the establishment deserves special praise - everything is neat, including the toilets. We were absolutely satisfied and can confidently recommend this place. Without a doubt, we will come back here again.

There was a placemat for the children to color and markers. There was also a good children's menu. We ordered a kids' burger for our son. Hungry children, of course, have to have their meal as an appetizer. 😉 My son got his burger and was totally disappointed. The garlic bread at Blockhouse is really delicious. But he didn't even like a Frikadelle (burger patty) and the garlic bread, so he didn't eat it (it cost €7). We would have liked to have had a heads-up. No pickle, lettuce, or sauce. Blockhouse doesn't even have classic burger buns. Our companion also had a burger. The dish was strips of beef steak in peppercorn sauce with grilled vegetables (€17) plus a baked potato (+€4.50). Dish number 2 was a 160g sirloin steak with a dollop of coleslaw, fries, and garlic bread (€18 plus €3 for salad). The picture shows turkey steaks with a baked potato and bread. For dessert, the kids had ice cream, a waffle with cherries, and an apple strudel. The first course was very tasty, and those who had the other course thought it was okay. The service was attentive and very friendly, but not always present. At the end of the day, the kids received a water ball from the Blockhouse, a really nice giveaway. At the exit, the kids were able to help themselves to the candy jar.

Nice steak house. Bull soup was mild flavoured with two very small pieces of beef. French onion soup tasty but very salty. Ribeye was very tasty but my companion ordered it medium, got extra rare and couldn't eat it. Salad excellent. Potato and sour cream average. Icecream average quality, "extra chocolate" was actually just regular chocolate with choc chips. Strudel was great. My dinner was ruined during the main course by foul cigarette smoke coming into the restaurant from inconsiderate smokers just outside. we were quickly moved to a different table but still felt sick due to smoke continuing to enter the restaurant. Door could not be shut to keep smoke out due to chairs stacked against it. Service pretty good otherwise but why allow smokers to ruin everyone else's meal? Just Forbid smoking on your property.

Coleslaw tasted like everything and nothing. Fries were neither salted nor crispy, and the bread could have been baked a few minutes longer. The filet was good. There was a hair in the salad. All in all, it was a bit overpriced.

Es war ein richtig schönes Erlebnis. Von A-Z. Ausreichend Personal, was auch nicht mehr überall gegeben ist. Ganz hervorragend organisiert. Also alles in allem klasse Rahmenbedingungen. Das Beste war dann noch das Essen. Einfach ein Geschmackserlebnis. Wie immer im Block House. Aber hier kam es uns besonders gelungen vor. Ganz klar: fünf Sterne und ganz bestimmt ein Wiedersehen

I deliberately took my time and spent a week thinking about whether I wanted to write a review – but unfortunately, the experience still haunts me. Last week, four of us dined at the Block House. One of our companions kindly informed the waiter that she could only eat very small portions for health reasons (after gastric surgery). To avoid unnecessary food waste, we asked if it would be possible to order a children's plate for her – after all, the menu offers this. The answer was unfortunately very disappointing: For business reasons and in the interest of cost-effectiveness, this was not possible. No exceptions, no accommodations – even though this was a medical necessity. We then simply finished our drinks and left the restaurant. I honestly find it hard to understand why no flexibility is shown in such a case. Especially in this day and age, when topics such as sustainability and mindfulness in the use of resources are playing an increasingly important role, I would have wished for more humanity and understanding. A visit to a restaurant should be a pleasant experience – unfortunately, for us it wasn’t.

We spontaneously stopped by for dinner today; the service was super fast and the food was delicious! The lady with the blonde hair and glasses was super attentive and friendly. We'd definitely love to come back next time we visit Frankfurt. 28.5

I had the pleasure of dining at Block House yesterday for lunch, and I'm still thrilled. The ambiance was inviting as always, and the service attentive and friendly. But the absolute highlight was my steak – grilled to perfection, wonderfully tender, and a true delight. I was particularly impressed by the lady at the grill. With obvious passion, she prepared my steak exactly as I requested. Her precision and professionalism deserve special praise. A huge compliment to the entire team for their great work. The visit was a thoroughly positive experience, one that I would happily recommend. If you value quality, impeccable service, and authentic grilling, this is the place for you.

I had a Hereford rib-eye steak. It came medium-rare, as requested. It was juicy. Of course, it didn't quite match the photo on the menu. The grill marks were missing, and thus the roasted flavor. However, it could have been seasoned better. Without salt and pepper, it would have tasted like meat, not steak. And covering it up with the sour cream from the baked potato doesn't do a good steak justice. All this for €28.50, was it worth it? Unfortunately, I overlooked the fact that the steak automatically comes with the potato and a piece of garlic bread (which was good). Those aren't the side dishes I want with the meat. I also had pan-fried vegetables, which I also had to season heavily. A small side salad with Italian dressing was good. An onion and cheese soup as a starter was delicious. Overall, it was good, but some details could be improved. The ambiance in the restaurant was nice, comfortable, and contemporary. It was Friday afternoon and not crowded, so we could choose a seat.
