Words cannot describe how amazing this restaurant is, you have to come eat here to experience how amazing the food and service is here. By far the best steak I’ve had out in Germany.

While we were waiting at the door for 30 minutes as a family, the kids went very close to get the charger from the car and in the meantime it was our turn... The incompetent chef or waiter who directed us to our table said that we were not 5 people and took us out of the shop... Then when I said that my little child and my wife were cold in the cold, he behaved rudely saying there was nothing to do... Even though I said we would order for 5 people, he continued to take the people after us... He warned him about the rude and bad treatment towards the customers and said that he would not serve you, which turned even more rude... This is how the times go on... On days when no one is waiting at the door, you gather people to come out...

Block House never disappoints. They serve the best goulash soup I’ve ever tasted — rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The meat is also outstanding: always tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. Excellent quality, great consistency, and a place I would absolutely recommend to anyone who loves truly good food.

The food was fine, the staff was terrible. Hospitality was lacking. After 45 minutes, we were warned we could only sit for another 5 minutes. Only cash payment was requested afterward.

Blockhouse never disappoints! The only thing I don't particularly like is the interior design, but that's subjective and rather minor! The service was quick, friendly, and attentive (even with children). The food was, as always, excellent. The quality and seasoning were spot on. The side dish portions could be a bit larger, as the amount of fries was a little too small. All in all, Blockhouse Am Kröpke is highly recommended! The wait time during rush hour is normal and perfectly acceptable, considering the truly delicious food. 👌

We got a table quickly without a reservation. It's clear that everything is geared towards speed. After ordering, we received our food promptly. The beef skewer was okay, a bit burnt and therefore not very tender. The garlic bread was the best part. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a dovecote, with people constantly coming and going and the noise level corresponding to that. It's fine for a quick bite, but not if you're looking for a cozy place to eat.

It used to be good, but unfortunately it's gone downhill drastically. The steak was ordered medium, but it was rare and rather cold inside. Very annoying for a €39 steak. The waitress didn't seem to care much either. We'll be looking for a different steakhouse now.

We were very satisfied! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was super friendly and attentive. We went in without a reservation and got a table immediately. The salads were really fresh, the meat was cooked to perfection, and the fries were crispy and tasty.

The side dishes were also fresh and delicious; the garlic bread, in particular, is a classic that never disappoints. The service was super friendly and attentive, despite the full house. You can tell the team works well together and enjoys their work. The ambiance is typically Block House: cozy yet modern, and you immediately feel at home. The price-performance ratio is absolutely right for the quality you get. I always enjoy going there when I'm in the mood for good meat and relaxed service. Five stars from me; reliably delicious, every time!

I recently ate at BLOCK HOUSE am Kröpcke, and overall, it was a really pleasant experience. The restaurant is super centrally located, right in the city center—perfect if you want something good to eat after shopping or strolling. The interior is like most BLOCK HOUSE branches: cozy, with lots of wood and warm lighting, and you immediately feel at home. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. I didn't have to wait long, and my steak came exactly as I ordered. The sides were also fresh, the bread was top-notch as always, and you can just tell there's a lot of routine behind it. What I particularly like is that even though it's often busy, everything runs smoothly and is organized. The staff seem to work together well, and even when the place is full, the atmosphere remains relaxed. The only small downside is that the prices aren't cheap, but I think they're fair for the quality and the location.

I was very dissatisfied with the staff and my bill. Unfortunately, we ordered food and were really looking forward to it. But then a dog came into the restaurant past the salad bar and the open kitchen. I then told them I was highly allergic. I was just moved around, and then I couldn't eat my steak. The staff also treated me rudely. I also had to pay for everything, even though I refused my food. I didn't even take it with me. A real mess.

The American restaurant I ate at in Germany had very authentic American steaks and hamburgers, except for the French fries, which might taste better if cooked the way they are in Europe. The waiters were very friendly and the service was very good. I highly recommend it to tourists such as those attending exhibitions to try it.

We spontaneously got a table for two. Service? Good! Several friendly and attentive waiters took care of our table – we felt seen. The meal itself got more interesting. My dish: three small turkey breast steaks, a baked potato with sour cream, a baguette, block salad, and the famous BLOCK HOUSE bread. Surprise: The bread and salad – normally just nice accompaniments – were the star of the dish in terms of flavor. The baked potato, on the other hand, was lukewarm, watery, and with a slight hint of "campfire gone wrong." After a brief complaint, a new one promptly arrived – at least a little hotter, but that was it. The steaks? Unfortunately, more of a gym experience than a gourmet delight – dry and tough. No amount of persuasion helped (I tried). To finish, the apple strudel with vanilla sauce. Unfortunately, the sauce was so "fresh" that it had to be sent straight back to the kitchen. But: The staff's response here was absolutely professional – no arguments, just solution-oriented.👌 My conclusion: Friendly, attentive service with charm, salad 🥗 and bread 🥖 at their best, the rest... still has room for improvement. 3 out of 5 stars – with the bread bonus.😉

I'm a frequent visitor to Block House at Kröpcke and enjoy the beef dishes – the Masters Cut is always a highlight. Today, as an exception, I tried the turkey breast and was unfortunately a bit disappointed: There were only three very small medallions, a baked potato, and a loaf of bread – for €17.00, I don't think that's appropriate. I know you can do better, so I hope they might improve this. But a big compliment to the team: The staff are excellent as always – friendly, attentive, and always make the visit a very pleasant experience.

Unfortunately, a huge disappointment despite the good food. ​I would like to share my experience from August 1, 2025. First, the positive: The steak was truly excellent. But unfortunately, that was it. Throughout the entire meal, I was bothered by numerous fruit flies, which significantly diminished the enjoyment. A steak with the constant worry of flies in the food simply doesn't taste good. ​The service staff seemed overwhelmed by my complaint. There was hardly any reaction, no proactive solution on the spot, or even a small gesture of compensation, as one would expect in such an incident. ​Since quality at Block House has always been important to me, I sought dialogue with management at various levels. However, the response disappointed me even more than the situation on site. A telephone offer to give the restaurant another chance directly in a conversation with a manager at Blockhouse Hannover is not feasible for me. My suggestion for a small, redeemable compensation package was ignored, and Blockhouse Guest Services responded with a standard, overly friendly email with no discernible content. ​I gave the company several opportunities to respond appreciatively to a legitimate and specific criticism. Unfortunately, they didn't take advantage of these opportunities. In my opinion, Block House has thus squandered its good reputation.

The food was excellent; absolutely nothing to complain about. The price/performance ratio was also excellent. The young gentleman who served us was very friendly and accommodating. Even now, six weeks later, we're still talking about how great the place, service, and food were. If we're ever in Hanover again, we'd love to come back. Highly recommended 👍🏻

The best steak in the city. Always worth a visit. Today we finally went there for the first time in ages, and I have to say the rump steak we had was incredibly good, fantastically seasoned, and perfectly grilled. Taste was spot-on, 100%. Service was super friendly, super nice, and everything in the photos was included in the €26 price. Salad, potatoes, garlic bread, super fresh, super delicious.

When I travel, I like to eat at Block House. In Hanover, I once again felt completely at home while dining alone. The food was excellent as always, along with extremely friendly and attentive service. I'll be happy to come back!

The food is nothing special, and I find the service and atmosphere very poor. I ordered a tenderloin steak, which was OK (5/10), but the fries were 0/10, which was a disgrace. Dessert was just as bad. I paid a bill of €140 for two people, but the quality was more like a takeaway. Never again.

We visited Block House Hannover on Ständehausstraße, very close to the Holländische Kakaostube – and it was a thoroughly enjoyable visit! The food was, as always, of excellent quality, but what really made the evening special was the service. A big compliment to Editha, our waitress: very friendly, attentive, professional, and with a real feel for her guests. You could tell she puts her heart into her job – we felt welcome from the very first moment. We will definitely be back and hope to be served by Editha again!

We wanted to quickly go to the restroom with my two children (3 and 8 years old) because we couldn't go any further. The server was friendly at first. After using the restroom, however, we were suddenly rudely reprimanded with the words: "Now you have to eat here too!" and that we had asked for a nod. And whether everyone had been to the restroom by now... Friendliness doesn't look like that. Especially with small children, you expect a little more understanding! Definitely not a place I would voluntarily go to with my family again. I won't go there for dinner either.

The reception was very friendly, and a nice outdoor area with patio heaters was set up for our group of six (three adults, three children aged 4 to 11), a pleasant start. The children were free to choose from the children's menu. My 11-year-old son ordered a main course, while my friend (who prefers smaller portions) opted for a children's dish and an additional baked potato. When served, however, she was rather rudely informed that she was not allowed to eat the children's dish because it was intended for children. The tone and manner were unnecessarily patronizing and unfortunately seemed unprofessional, especially since we had ordered a total of three main courses, three children's dishes, and one side dish. In addition, some organizational weaknesses were noticeable: The fries were unfortunately cold, ketchup and mayonnaise were forgotten, as was the salad we had ordered. It's a shame, because the food was ultimately tasty, but the overall experience was significantly marred by the aforementioned issues. With a little more sensitivity and better service, it would have been a truly enjoyable visit. At the end, the kids were given water balls.

We were there again today. Everything was excellent, especially the service (5 stars). But the food is good enough for a solid 4 stars.

Update: July 7, 2025 Beef ribs for lunch... tender as butter🤤 Hey, we've been there three times now. All we can say is, the service is attentive and friendly. Also, a shout-out to the kitchen. The mixed salad is a dream😍 The food is always spot on! So far, we've had the Ms. and Mrs. Rump Steak, HEREFORD RIB-EYE, and RIB-EYE MASTERCUT, 12 oz. We'll also try the other prime beef cuts. Review of the T-Bone to follow 😋😎 We now also have a lot of Blockhaus products. We'll definitely be back! Thank you!

Service was deliberately inattentive, and the tables were clean: wiped with a used cloth and tablecloths turned inside out, thus going from dirty to dirtier! The food was okay, but the garlic bread was soggy.

I got a solid, good steak with side dishes. The taste was perfect, but nothing exceptional. Overall, it was good and tasty.

A visit as you would wish for – without any surprises, in the best sense of the word. The meat was excellent: grilled to perfection, juicy, and of very good quality. Just as a good steak should be. The fresh salad was also a delight, accompanied by three different sauces to choose from – a nice addition. We were particularly impressed by the service. Unlike in many other restaurants, the staff was not only friendly but also experienced – some of them a bit older, which we found very pleasant. This "old school" approach is clearly evident: attentive, calm, professional. Overall, a thoroughly successful visit. No frills, no unpleasant surprises – simply a good steakhouse that delivers what it promises.

Went to hannover for the ligna Expo, and after we had dinner at this place and it's really good. Had fries and ribeye, and it was delicious.

Unfortunately, the log cabin here has deteriorated considerably. Our rump steak was very tough; for the price, we expected something better. The service was very friendly and attentive. We sat outside and found it very cramped and noisy. The noise level inside isn't much better, but it's actually very cozy.

Lunch specials on Wednesdays (steak and salad) are always delicious. However, the cooking time is not always completely adhered to. Medium always comes out medium and medium always comes out rare. The waiter is friendly, but slightly unsympathetic. Toilets busy, poorly ventilated... But clean.

We visited today quite spontaneously. Despite the house being full, we still managed to get a table. The order was taken quickly, the drinks came quickly, and the starter salad was surprisingly tasty, finally not a boring standard product. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. The main course didn't take long to arrive either. We had two steaks with baked potatoes, a seasonal vegetable plate and a portion of pan-fried vegetables. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted a highlight. Unfortunately, the side dishes couldn't keep up. The vegetables were completely overcooked, dripping with oil and overall disappointing. The potato, which we were particularly looking forward to, a welcome change from the usual fries, was unfortunately bland and rather carelessly prepared. The much advertised Blockhaus bread turned out to be white bread that was toasted on one side and was literally swimming in oil, unfortunately not enjoyable. Overall the visit was okay, but not a place we would necessarily need to return to. The friendly service and the excellent meat are positive. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention my dirty glass.

Delicious food in a top location – reliable and fast I was recently at Block House Hannover and asked for it to be done quickly - and it worked wonderfully! The fresh, crisp salad came straight away, followed shortly afterwards by the perfectly grilled steak. The fries were hot and crispy and came with a slice of delicious garlic bread - as always in reliable Block House quality. The location right near the main train station is ideal - easy to reach, especially when you're on the move. This time it took a few minutes longer to pay, which was probably due to a change in staff. But the restaurant manager kept a close eye on it - overall I received friendly service throughout. Tip: If you still feel like something sweet after your meal, there is a great café right next door for delicious cakes or biscuit desserts. I would definitely like to come back – an all-round successful visit!

A restaurant I regularly prefer for its meaty taste. But the waiter made us wait outside for 40 minutes and even though we had asked for a table for four, preference was given to three guests who arrived after us - just because one person in our group wasn't there yet. When I asked why, he just said: “There are only three of you.” I said, "If you asked us, we were going to order for four people anyway - the meal takes 30 minutes anyway." We asked, “Why didn’t you just ask us?” The answer was rude: “If I had known, I would have taken you.” If I didn't know the restaurant, I definitely wouldn't have eaten here. Block House should trust its guests. I came full of joy – but I lost all the fun!

Always a familiar, cozy atmosphere since I was there for the first time in 1982. The furnishings and menu are almost unchanged: everything is perfect, and the salad with fried mushrooms still tastes great...

The steak was perfect, the service friendly and attentive. The ambience is what it is. It's somehow out of date now, but will definitely be back in style soon.

Nothing special in my opinion. I went here two times and disappointed two times. The only thing that I like here must be Apfelstrudel. The service is friendly and lovely. It is very crowded at the weekend. You don’t have to book the table here as they do walk in only.

The steak is cooked perfectly; the cooking level is maintained exactly. One point deducted for eating because, in my opinion, there is too much sugar in the steak sauce. However, the local branch can do very little about this. I'll be back.

A stable steakhouse. Absolute standard, and I don't mean that in a negative way at all. You can eat well here. The staff is polite and focused on the matter. Price-performance fits. The only thing that could perhaps use a makeover is the furnishings. Everything is a bit old. Would love to come back.
