We came here spontaneously and without a reservation. With a little patience, we still managed to get a table for two. The wait was definitely worth it! The food was incredibly fresh, aromatic, and simply delicious. The combination of Portuguese and Spanish specialties was a real highlight. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, which made the evening even more enjoyable. We spent a wonderful evening together, one we won't soon forget. Highly recommended!

Whenever we visit Hamburg, we have paella at Beira Rio. It's super delicious and the service is very friendly.

We ate a delicious paella here, followed by a glass of port wine. The food was excellent, the service very friendly and attentive – all in all, a wonderful meal! Highly recommended.

The owner kindly found a table for us (near the kitchen) when the restaurant was full. He was helpful with non-native German speakers, and of course the fish dishes we ordered (especially the monkfish in turmeric sauce) were excellent. One of the smaller and more intimate of the many Portugese restaurants in this neighborhood. Highly recommended.

The restaurant didn't live up to its rating. Some of the food was extremely salty (salmon), while others were lacking in seasoning (paella). The service staff redeemed the situation somewhat with their charming manner and the occasional joke.

Addendum 2025: After two years, the restaurant, the food, and the service were still fantastic! The Beira Rio has definitely proven itself as the first port of call for our Hamburg trips. Special mention goes to the waiter who served us back then and makes our stay special every time. Thank you for the lovely evening! 😊 We had reserved a table for four people at the Beira Rio on a Friday evening. The only negative thing I could have noticed was that it was quite warm in the restaurant. The rest of the experience was wonderful. Our waitress was funny, in a good mood throughout the entire evening, and practically brought us new drinks before we'd even finished our current ones. I ate the best grilled squid tubes of my life here; the shrimp, the salad, and the cocktails were all very, very tasty. At the end, there were nightcaps for everyone, and as the birthday girl, I got a free shot on top. Thank you for the great experience! 😊

We were there with a large group of 16 people. Despite an early reservation, there were no available tables upon arrival. After a bit of a wait, we were assigned two tables in a small side room. Unfortunately, we couldn't sit together as a group. However, the server was very friendly and attentive. The grilled fish dish I had was OK. The shrimp was grilled too long and was very dry. The salmon was OK. I had hoped for more. So, all in all, I tried it; I won't go back again.

Highly recommended. Small but nice. The staff actually speaks Portuguese and German. Very nice ambiance. The lighting was a bit too dim, but still cozy. We had dinner there, and it was delicious all around. The paella for one person was enough for two, and the chicken breast fillet in pepper sauce was also very tasty and plentiful. We'd happily go back on our next visit to Hamburg. The online recommendation is actually accurate. On Friday and Saturday, there was no chance of getting a table without a reservation. Sunday evening was no problem.

I am proud to say that this is the best paella in Hamburg. The rice grains are in perfect Andante condition.

Hat der Inhaber eine Beschwerde bei Google eingereicht. Er beschuldigt mich der Diffamierung ! Das ist schon ein starkes stück. Erst ein Fehler machen und dann den leidtratenden auch noch zu beschuldigen.,anstatt sich für den fehler zu entschuldigen. Wir sind alle Menschen und machen Fehler aber wir sollten daraus lernen und nicht den anderen ferunglimpfen...

I discovered this little restaurant by chance. When I asked for a seat the waiter said in 5min. When I left the restaurant, he came up behind me and told me to wait a moment. This wait was worth it. I ordered the meat paella. This was served super hot and was very tasty. Any time.

How exactly they convey that homey feeling I don't know, but we came as guests and felt like we were leaving as friends. Everything together ensured that we were there again the very next day. :-) Tip: If you stop by at quieter times (e.g. lunchtime), you might be lucky enough to have the chance to enjoy small dishes from everyday Portuguese cuisine that are not on the menu.

No, Portuguese food should NOT consist of ready-made/frozen food... Poorly seasoned... Better to try one of the other Portuguese dishes up close. Unfortunately we went based on the rating, 4.8... which definitely can't be real!

Simply an incredibly great restaurant! We went to Beira Rio during our city trip because of the good reviews and enjoyed the best fish we've ever eaten! Every bite was a poem! We didn't have to wait long for our food, even though every table was full. Before eating we were given a baguette with a homemade garlic cream that we would have loved to dig into! So incredibly delicious!! The price-performance ratio was absolutely great! The host was friendly too! Thank you very much for this excellent meal, if we come back to Hamburg we will definitely come back!

When I asked the waiter about it, he dismissed it and insisted on full price. impudence. I wanted some chamomile tea to calm my stomach. I was given the wrong drink twice before I received my tea.
