Restaurante Porto in Hamburg

We got a table even without a reservation (Friday evening), the service was friendly, and we ordered a tapas appetizer platter (small fried sardines, deep-fried cod balls and shrimp dumplings, breaded calamari, ham, cheese, and chouriço). The fish was served cold, which I hadn't expected. The waiter said that's how it's supposed to be because tapas are served cold. Well, they wouldn't take it back, so my husband ate some of it, but I lost my appetite. Two days earlier, we ordered almost the same thing at the restaurant across the street, and the fish was warm and the olives were excellent. So, we'll just eat across the street again.

A good wine list. They also have many fish dishes, but meat options are available as well. I'd gladly come again.

We arrived at 10:30 pm and the kitchen was still open, which we thought was fantastic. We ordered Bacalhau á Carlos and Variado do Algarve, and the food was delicious. The service was also very friendly and quick. We'd gladly come again.

Very nice hosts, very tasty food

Four of us were out for dinner in the Portuguese Quarter. After studying the menus, we decided to go to this restaurant. The ambiance inside is very nice, clean, and well-maintained. The staff is extremely friendly, and the dishes on the menu were a bit different from those of the surrounding restaurants, which we liked. All in all, we were very satisfied and would gladly return there on our next stay in Hamburg.

Friendly staff, easy reservation, very clean restaurant. A fresh tablecloth was laid immediately. 👍🏻 The three-course menu was delicious, but my zander fillet with potatoes and vegetables could have been a bit softer and warmer.

New York Times had recommended this place in 2017. And that was mainly why we had gone. It was just OK- nothing spectacular. So many other good places to eat in Hamburg. I would not put this one on your list unless you are dying for Portuguese food.

The food and beer are generally delicious. Orders take a while to come, but it's okay if you just drink a beer and wait.

We were here with a group for lunch. The selection was plentiful, but the food served was barely lukewarm, even though there weren't many other guests. And we had to wait almost an hour for it.... No one of the six people at our table was REALLY satisfied... One meal was completely forgotten, and a dessert (included in the menu) was only served upon request. The service staff was unfriendly, unmotivated, and seemed annoyed. When we asked about a drink that had been ordered but not delivered, there was no apology, just a rude response that shouldn't slip out of a waiter's mouth in that tone! When we arrived, the narrow spiral staircase to the restrooms wasn't lit, which wasn't safe, as it was pitch black. Later, the lights were on, but the floor in the downstairs hallway, in front of the restrooms, was extremely smooth and slippery, as if there was a film of grease on it. I will never eat here again and can't recommend it to anyone! The value for money is completely out of the question for me!

Great service. I'm obviously pregnant, and before we even sat down, they informed me that the aioli (the one you get with the bread) contains raw egg. Incredibly attentive. The food was delicious and very comfortable.

The Porto is located in the heart of the beautiful Portuguese Quarter. We were able to sit outside in the beautiful weather and enjoy the atmosphere. The service is super friendly and cheerful, but not at all pretentious. It really makes you feel at home! The food practically transports you to a vacation. Very authentic and fresh, and simply really good. I had the grilled sardines, which I would order again anytime.

It's very popular with tourists and therefore very busy. If you get a spot, you're in good hands.

Enttäuschend - Total überteuert - Gambas, komplett mehlig und trocken serviert! Gemüse kommt aus der Tüte!! Und der Thunfisch war so dünn geschnitten, dass er furz trocken war! Da ist es einfach nicht okay, wenn man dann Preise aufruft, die dem Produkt, was man serviert bekommt, in keinster Weise entsprechen. Wir kommen nicht noch mal, da gibt es in Hamburg weitaus schönere Fischrestaurants. Vielleicht muss man hier aber auch das Nationalgericht bestellen. Für uns ist das Restaurant nicht das richtige.

The meat was tough and musty. Absolutely unacceptable. I can't understand the rating. I had five types of meat, and all of them were bad. The service wasn't friendly either.

I ordered a fish pan. The fish was drenched in a thin sauce and tasteless. It was absolutely disappointing. My partner had a plate with various grilled pieces of meat. Some of the meat was barely chewable. We do not recommend this restaurant. We cannot understand the previous review.

We went on a whim without a reservation and got a table, but it's recommended to make a reservation just to be safe. The ambiance is nice, and the restrooms (which I mention far too rarely, but are not unimportant) are clean and well-maintained. The wine is delicious. The ajoli is amazing! However, it also raised our expectations. The food didn't quite live up to expectations, but it was perfectly okay! (The chicken was undercooked.) The service was friendly, no complaints! We would definitely go back. The restaurant is recommended!

Absolut nicht empfehlenswert, die Vorspeise wurde nicht als scharf deklariert, sie war leider ungenießbar, das Hauptgericht war fade und nicht schmackhaft. Ein absoluter Touristen Tempel, wir als Hamburger werden dieses Restaurant meiden. Da gibt es leckerere Fischrestaurants zu humanen Preisen.

Very good food. We had the house-style sirloin steak and prawns, and they tasted fantastic. The portions were perfectly sized. The service was also very good. We would come back again.

Respect for the employees for working so quickly and friendly given the rush on a Monday. I thought that was great. Every effort has been made to find a place for everyone. But it was also a bit stressful because it was restless and loud. I was rather disappointed with the food. Chicken with mixed vegetables was pretty soulless and not Portuguese at all. My neighbor had seafood and was satisfied.

Unfortunately the fish is always grilled dead. This makes it dry. Sepia was delicious. Tapas plates were all cold and therefore not all tasty. Ambiance was good.

Fünf von fünf Gerichten haben absolut nach gar nichts geschmeckt. Auch mit Pfeffer und Salz war da nichts rauszuholen. Für den Salat gab es Olivenöl und billigen Weißweinessig, der Schwertfisch zum Salat war trocken. Die Tomatensuppe als Vorspeise schmeckte wie Tütensuppe, einzig die Fischsuppe als Vorspeise war wirklich gut. Schade um den Abend und das Geld.

First, the tapas plate was already richly delicious! Then, on to the main course; If you like Northeast Atlantic and Mediterranean fish like sea bream, you should try it here at Restaurante Porto. I myself ventured to try the Mediterranean sea bream in beautiful Hamburg... I closed my eyes for a moment and had to admit: "Incredibly delicious" without any additional seasoning, just like at the sea! "Peppered to perfection, with a bit of vegetables and hot potatoes, simply delicious" - big compliments to the kitchen! 5 out of 5 stars and a bonus point for the overall package. Best regards 🤓

We have been coming to the restaurant every time Internorga is there for over 20 years. Unfortunately, the quality of the food decreases from year to year. Gambas made according to the house style, vegetables that taste of nothing but oil, a little sauce, a pile of rice, that was done much better. My wife had vegetable soup, what was served was bean broth. That was nothing.

What a gem! A friend and I came across Porto by chance. They were fully booked for dinner, but were able to seat us at the bar in the early afternoon. We had a bottle of absolutely outstanding wine, the prawns, octopus, and I had the fish soup. I am not exaggerating when I tell you it is one of the best meals I have ever had in my life. I'd go back just for the butter that they serve with the bread. Not only was the food exceptionally excellent, but we had a chance to chat with the staff, and they were helpful, kind, friendly, and lovely to know. I could not recommend this restaurant more forcefully. Please do yourself the favor, and enjoy the delight that is Porto in Hamburg. (Thanks for having us! -Ashley and Katie)

¡Qué joya! Un amigo y yo nos encontramos con Oporto por casualidad. Estaban totalmente reservados para la cena, pero fueron capaces de sentarnos en el bar a primera hora de la tarde. Teníamos una botella de vino absolutamente excepcional, las gambas, pulpo, y yo tenía la sopa de pescado. No exagero cuando te digo que es una de las mejores comidas que he tenido en mi vida. Volvería sólo por la mantequilla que sirven con el pan. No solo era la comida excepcionalmente excelente, pero tuvimos la oportunidad de charlar con el personal, y eran serviciales, amables, amables y encantadores de conocer. Abends Essen gehen mit zwei Kinder ist nicht immer leicht. Die Plätze werden besetzt aber der Umsatz ist nicht der gleiche. Im Porto waren wir ohne Reservierung am Wochenende und wurden wärmsten empfangen und versorgt. Alle waren sehr herzlich zu uns. Und das Essen war sehr lecker.

If you want to eat good Portuguese food, you should come here. Fresh food, very well prepared. Nice staff and a nice atmosphere with Fado music in the background. What I didn't know before was that the room next to it, “Nau”, also belongs to the restaurant. I find the atmosphere there more comfortable.
